    To the Iranian people
To all the fathers, mothers, children, brothers and sisters

For there to be a war between us, first we must be afraid of each other, we must hate.
I'm not afraid of you, I don't hate you.
I don t even know you. No Iranian ever did me no harm. I never even met an Iranian...Just one in Paris in a museum. Nice dude.

I see sometime here, on the TV, an Iranian. He is talking about war.
I'm sure he does not represent all the people of Iran.
If you see someone on your TV talking about bombing you ...be sure he does not represent all of us.

I'm not an official representative of my country. but I know the streets of my town, I talk with my neighbors, my familys, my friends and in the name of all these people ...we love you.
    We mean you no harm.
On the contrary, we want to meet, have some coffee and talk about sports.

To all those who feel the same, share this message and help it reach the Iranian people
    -----

My name is Ronny, I'm 41 years old. I'm a father, a teacher, a Graphic Designer.
I'm an Israeli citizen and I need your help.

Lately, in the news, we've been hearing about a war coming while we, the people are sitting, watching like it has nothing to do with us.

On March 15th, I posted a poster on Facebook. The message was simple.
Iranians. We love you. We will never bomb your country

Within 24 hours, thousands of people shared the poster on Facebook, and I started receiving messages from Iran.
The next day, we got featured on TV and newspapers, proving that the message was traveling. Fast.

Please help us prevent this war by spreading this message.

We need your help raising money in order to make the message bigger, in order to get it louder. we are working on developing new ways of communication. we are working on breaking the barriers
We want everybody to understand that there will be no war.

This is a sweet movie made by an American who went to Iran with an open mind and documented what he found there. Diversity is what makes the world so wonderful and war would destroy so much of this beautiful country, its history and culture ...

from a 2001 BBC newstory -- i have seen some of the films directed by Iranian women -- excellent, imo

    ================

Iranian women tell their own story

Nargess, by 'elder stateswoman' Rakhshan Bani Etemad

The importance of women in Iran's renascent film industry surprises many who believe that Islamic strictures in the country have suppressed female self-expression.
The season of Iranian women's films which starts at London's Barbican on Friday should open minds, writes BBC News Online's Alex Webb.

While film-making in Iran remains a sensitive and intensely political process, women film-makers have produced an impressive body of work in recent years and won a series of international film awards.

Samira Makhmalbaf made The Apple at 17

In the aftermath of the Islamic revolution in 1979 hundreds of cinemas - seen as channels for Western propaganada - were burnt down.

In the early years of the revolution, huge numbers of films, both Iranian and foreign, were banned and many others heavily censored.

    Islamic codes

But in its disapproval of most other leisure activities for the young, the new regime left cinema as the major attraction for young people and helped give it a central role in the country's cultural life.

It was a tribute to the perceived power of the medium that revolutionary guards would attend film shoots to ensure that actors obeyed Islamic codes on and off the screen - sometimes even getting involved in the choice of scenes and camera angles.

The government produced detailed guidelines on how women and relationships could be portrayed on screen which tested the ingenuity of all film-makers.

The Ministry of Culture's 1996 guidelines forbid the showing of any part of a women's body except the face and hands, tight feminine clothes, physical contact between men and women, and foreign or joyous music.

    Ferment

Since the revolution there has also been a four-stage film censorship process starting with approval of the script and ending with the granting of a screening permit, though since 1997 there has been some relaxation of the script approval process.

With the rise of a reformist movement in recent years Iran has seen a cultural and political ferment which film-makers have found difficult to represent within the rules.

The only thing Iran has against itself is that it's not in the world monetory system...

This is a reason for war, just like they want war with North Korea..

That's why I wonder about this whole Israel loves Iran, Iran loves Israel thing. I wonder if it got publicised so much on the TV because they were supporting the idea that Iran is a tyrannical dictatorship, hijacking good will to further propaganda, perhaps.

Oh I agree, really I do. It is like a river which has burst the dam and won't be held back. I just don't think it's beyond the wickedness of wicked people to try to use, abuse and misuse something like that to their own ends.

A little known fact concerning Iranian women is that they are at the origin of the legends associated with the amazons (ancient Persia)

    http://apranik.blogspot.com/2009/10/...-warriors.html

"Many ancient Persian cities and states were ruled by women and had their army totally under control of female commanders in order to insure loyalty. The significant role of women in Ancient Iran both horrified and fascinated the ancient Greek and Roman male-dominated societies. "

Arteshbod Pantea - Commander of the Persian “Immortal” Army

559 B.C. - Pantea Arteshbod was one of the all time greatest Persian commanders during the reign of Cyrus the Great (559 - 529 B.C). ... She was the commander of the elite force of Persian soldiers who performed the dual roles of both Imperial Guard and standing army during the Achaemenid Empire's expansion. They formed the elite core of the Persian army in times of war and the royal guard in times of peace in Achaemenid Persian Empire. The elite force were known as “The Immortals” because they were kept constantly at a strength of exactly 10,000 men, every killed or seriously wounded member was immediately replaced. To insure loyalty, the original members of this “immortal” fighting machine were Persians by bloodline and trained form early childhood (age 7+). Not everyone could become one of the 10,000 since the training was very rigorous and hard both physically and psychologically. They also followed a strict adherence to the religion of the prophet Zarathustra and his teachings. “The Immortals” were mainly used during the last stages of each battle as reinforcement by the order of the King of Kings to shock the enemies strategically. The name “Pantea” means: Strong and immortal.

Artemisia the Grand Admiral and Commander in Chief of the Persian Navy

485 B.C. - Artemisia I: became the ruler of Halicarnassius (A Greek City-State and a colony of Persian Empire). She ruled under the overlordship of the Persian Emperor Xerxes I (Kheshayar Shah). She was the legendary Grand Admiral and leader of the Persian Navy... The name “Artemisia” means: The great speaker of truth.
When the Persian King Xerxes went to war against Greece 480 BC, Artemisia led her powerful ships and helped Xerxes defeat the Greeks in the beginning phases of naval battle of Salamis. The Greeks offered a reward of 10,000 drachmas for capturing Artemisia's head, but no one succeeded in winning the prize. Understand that back then Persia was the sole superpower of the globe and Greece consisted of tens of separated and scattered city-states, each played their own tunes! Some of these city-states were pro Persia, some were anti Persia, some were neutral and some were even parts of Persia as protectorates.

383 A.D. - Princess Aspas was a Commander of the Persian Sassanid's police and a daughter of Ardeshir the Second (The tenth Sassanid King of Persia). The sword and shield designs are based on archeological finds. The name “Aspas” means: Guard of strength.

    816 A.D. - Banu

Perhaps it's time to dig out some of the other old peace songs such as "Universal Soldier", or, from Oz, "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda".

Boy! I loved that second video. The guy being interviewed was trying to make up
lies about why Iran needs to be bombed because of their nuke plants.

Iran hasn't tried to invade or create wars with other countries in over 300 years
now but the guy being interviewed was saying that the iranians fought a brutal
was with iraq. That fact of the matter was that iraq invaded iran and iran fought
them off. This was one reason why london needs to invade iran and bomb their
nuke sites. This is pitiful. I think london and america needs to be neutered because
they just make up any old reason to go to war with anyone.....

    from The Clash

Joe Strummer wrote the lyrics about an Arab ruler (the Shereef) who hates music, but is defied by the citizens and even his own air force. Strummer was inspired by a news report of Iranians who were flogged for owning Disco albums.

    http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=1549

the spirit of this song was perverted by USA troops during our war on the Iraqi people , who were told to interpret the song as 'Bomb the Casbah & kill many of those who liked rock'n'roll '

My former next door neighbors were Persians. Iranians. They were beautiful people. They were always happy to help me in any way. One time my daughter forgot her keys and was locked out of the house after school and they took her in and gave her cookies and milk. Despite the language barrier, they were obviously very kind people.

I have met people from every continent. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Belizians, Argentinians, Mexicans, Germans, Africans, Canadians, Australians.....people from all walks of life, and from all over the world and they were all kind, loving people who just want to work and live in peace.

Now......if we can just get rid of the terrorist governments who want to create wars so that they can control everything and rule the world....we can all have our dream together. We are all one family here on Earth. The only terrorists are the governments themselves. We cannot allow them to have anymore wars and kill our brothers and sister.

    Peace and love,
    Jeff
