I would really like to know if what is discussed in that article is really possible. This is the giant radioactive mastodon in the room. Could they have backup power on reactor cooling systems that we have no idea about? Massive power outage would be bad enough, but a slew of Fukushimas across the globe....I don't even want to think of it. I will have to assume that they have prepared for this until proven otherwise.

Read the article again. No "they" (remember who "they" are) haven't prepared for this except to save their own hides. Think just think, Look just look..... and you will have your answer. 700 nuclear reactors operating on our planet and one of the most developed nations, Japan, had no back up in place.

I know it is unthinkable and not one of us on this forum wants to think this will happen, but many are aware of the almost certain eventuality of an event like this.

So the best we can do is be prepared, spiritually, emotionally and physically. Also please do know that there are many, many beings working to help prevent, delay, or minimize the impact of such an event.

Radiation hardening is a method of designing and testing electronic components and systems to make them resistant to damage or malfunctions caused by ionizing radiation (particle radiation and high-energy electromagnetic radiation), such as would be encountered in outer space, high-altitude flight, around nuclear reactors, particle accelerators, during nuclear accidents or nuclear warfare.

Most radiation-hardened chips are based on their commercial equivalents, with some manufacturing and design variations that reduce the susceptibility to radiation damage. Due to the extensive development and testing required to produce a radiation-tolerant design of a microelectronic chip, radiation-hardened chips tend to lag behind the cutting-edge of developments.

After an event like this, if it does indeed take place, they may be preparing safe havens AND strategically preparing a load of radiation-hardened equipment in hopes of gaining the upper hand - hoping to maintain their power structure after this "blows over."

For a measly one billion they could protect the grid, but they are not doing it.

Will 2012 bring the “perfect storm” and systems collapse? – the solar flare Carrington event boogeyman

Let us examine the spectrum of science-based opinion on the possible impacts of solar storms during the coming solar maximum of solar cycle 24 (2009-2020), which NASA in its latest solar forecast expects in May 2013.

At one extreme, a January 2009 report by the National Academy of Sciences funded by NASA warned that solar flares during the solar maximum could cause up to $2 trillion (or more) in damage in the U.S., with millions of potential deaths. As Examiner.com reported, “Mainstream scientific concern about 2012 has grown since a recent National Research Council report funded by NASA and issued by the National Academy of Sciences, entitled ‘Severe Space Weather Events: Understanding Economic and Societal Impact’ which details the potential devastation of 2012 solar storms on the current planetary energy grid and because of the inter-linkages of a cybernetic society, on our entire human civilization.

“According to New Scientist, science’s concern is a repetition of the 8-day 1859 “Carrington event,” a large solar flare accompanied by a coronal mass ejection (CME) that flung billions of tons of solar plasma onto the earth’s magnetosphere and disrupted Victorian-era magnetometers and the world telegraph system.

“The New Scientist states, ‘The report outlines the worst case scenario for the U.S. The ‘perfect storm’ is most likely on a spring or autumn night in a year of heightened solar activity - something like 2012. Around the equinoxes, the orientation of the Earth's field to the sun makes us particularly vulnerable to a plasma strike.’

“The next solar maximum is expected to occur in [2013]. New Scientist reports that Mike Hapgood, head of the European Space Agency's space weather team states, ‘We're in the equivalent of an idyllic summer's day. The sun is quiet and benign, the quietest it has been for 100 years,’ ‘but it could turn the other way.’

“The modern electrical high-power grid magnifies the impact of solar flares. Since the grid is linked into major aspects of modern society, the effects of another Carrington event would be devastating. The National Academy of Sciences report states: ‘A severe space weather event in the US could induce ground currents that would knock out 300 key transformers within about 90 seconds, cutting off the power for more than 130 million people.’ The New Scientist states: ‘According to the NAS report, the impact of what it terms a "severe geomagnetic storm scenario’ could be as high as $2 trillion. And that's just the first year after the storm. The NAS puts the recovery time at four to 10 years. It is questionable whether the US would ever bounce back.”

A more perfect storm? The hole in the earth’s magnetic field

According to a December 16, 2008 report, NASA’s THEMIS spacecraft has discovered a hole in earth’s magnetic field that is 10 times as large as previously thought. The magnetosphere, which is designed to protect earth from the plasma of solar flares, now has a hole in it four times the size of the earth.

According to the NASA report, “Northern IMF events don't actually trigger geomagnetic storms but they do set the stage for storms by loading the magnetosphere with plasma. A loaded magnetosphere is primed for auroras, power outages, and other disturbances that can result when, say, a CME (coronal mass ejection) hits.”

The solar maximum is expected in 2012. University of New Hampshire scientist Jimmy Raeder states, “"We're entering Solar Cycle 24. For reasons not fully understood, CMEs in even-numbered solar cycles (like 24) tend to hit Earth with a leading edge that is magnetized north. Such a CME should open a breach and load the magnetosphere with plasma just before the storm gets underway. It's the perfect sequence for a really big event."

2012: Fire or ice? The maunder minimum extremists

At the other extreme, some scientists are forecasting not solar storms, but the return of a new ice age for the 2012 year range.

As Examiner.com has reported, “in an April 2, 2009 article, retired U.S. Navy physicist and engineer James A. Marusek writes: “The sun has gone very quiet as it transitions to Solar Cycle 24…. We are now at a crossroad. Two paths lie before us. Both are marked with a signpost that reads “Danger”! Down one path lie monstrous solar storms. Down the other path lie several decades of crushing cold temperatures and global famine.” “A quiet sun will cause temperatures globally to take a nose-dive. We will experience temperatures that we have not seen in over 200 years, during the time of the early pioneers.

“(2) The Sun slipping quietly towards a Dalton Minimum or even a Grand Minima such as a Maunder Minimum.

“Climate change is primarily driven by nature. It has been true in the days of my father and his father and all those that came before us. Because of science, not junk science, we have slowly uncovered some of the fundamental mysteries of nature. Our Milky Way galaxy is awash with cosmic rays. These are high-speed charged particles that originate from exploding stars. Because they are charged, their travel is strongly influenced by magnetic fields. Our sun produces a magnetic field wrapped in the solar winds that extends to the edges of our solar system.

“This field deflects many of the cosmic rays away from Earth. But when the sun goes quiet (minimal sunspots), this field collapses inward allowing high-energy cosmic rays to penetrate deeper into our solar system. As a result, far greater numbers collide with Earth and penetrate down into the lower atmosphere where they ionize small particles of moisture (humidity) forming them into water droplets that become clouds. Low-level clouds reflect sunlight back into space.

"An increase in Earth's cloud cover produce a global drop in temperature.

“If the sun becomes quieter than the old solar cycles, producing more than 1028 spotless days, then we might slip into a Dalton Minimum or maybe even a Grand Minima such as the Maunder Minimum. This solar state will last for decades. Several solar scientists have predicted this will begin in Solar Cycle 25, about a decade from now. But a few have predicted this will occur now in Solar Cycle 24. A quiet sun will cause temperatures globally to take a nose-dive. We will experience temperatures that we have not seen in over 200 years, during the time of the early pioneers.

“Temperatures are already falling. Satellites provide generally the most accurate atmospheric temperature measurements covering the entire globe. From the peak year 1998, the lower Troposphere temperatures globally have fallen around 1/2 degree Celsius due to the quiet sun.

This is despite the fact that during that same time period, atmospheric carbon dioxide (at Mauna Loa) has risen 5% from 367 ppm to 386 ppm. The main threat from a ‘Dalton Minimum’ or ‘Maunder Minimum’ event is famine and starvation (affecting millions or hundreds of millions worldwide) due to shortened growing seasons and harsher weather. In the past, in addition to great famines, this cold harsh weather has also lead to major epidemics.

“Evidence of the Mississippi River, Ohio River, Allegheny River, Delaware River and Hudson River at the New York Harbor freezing and of very harsh winters.

“Recent periods of quiet sun were the Dalton Minimum (1790-1830 A.D.), the Maunder Minimum (1645-1715 A.D.) and the Spörer Minimum (1420 to 1570 A.D.). The Maunder Minimum and Spörer Minimum were solar Grand Minima and each were individually referred to as the Little Ice Age.”

2012: “Solar Cycle 24 will peak in May 2013 with a below-average number of sunspots”

There is uncertainty and published misinformation about solar cycle 24. One unofficial source who charges his readers money for his articles - Mitch Battros - states, "Solar Cycle 24 has begun - and it has been predicted by NASA, NOAA and ESA to be up to 50% stronger than its 'record breaking' predecessor Cycle 23 which produced the largest solar flare ever recorded. The Sun will reach its 'apex' (maximum) in late 2011 into 2012."

A recent prediction by NASA contradicts Mitch Battros and Earthchangesmedia.com and states that the solar maximum will be in May 2013, "with a below-average number of sunspots."

On May 29, 2009, NASA reported that “an international panel of experts led by NOAA and sponsored by NASA has released a new prediction for the next solar cycle. Solar Cycle 24 will peak, they say, in May 2013 with a below-average number of sunspots.

‘If our prediction is correct, Solar Cycle 24 will have a peak sunspot number of 90, the lowest of any cycle since 1928 when Solar Cycle 16 peaked at 78,’ says panel chairman Doug Biesecker of the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center.

In the same report, NASA also noted that, “It is tempting to describe such a cycle as ‘weak’ or ‘mild,’ but that could give the wrong impression.

"’Even a below-average cycle is capable of producing severe space weather,’ points out Biesecker. ‘The great geomagnetic storm of 1859, for instance, occurred during a solar cycle of about the same size we’re predicting for 2013.’

Note that NASA cannot resist highlighting the Carrington event “boogeyman” to frighten us all about 2012. “The 1859 storm--known as the "Carrington Event" after astronomer Richard Carrington who witnessed the instigating solar flare--electrified transmission cables, set fires in telegraph offices, and produced Northern Lights so bright that people could read newspapers by their red and green glow. A recent report by the National Academy of Sciences found that if a similar storm occurred today, it could cause $1 to 2 trillion in damages to society's high-tech infrastructure and require four to ten years for complete recovery. For comparison, Hurricane Katrina caused ‘only’ $80 to 125 billion in damage.”

NASA, then, is still promoting the plausibility of Carrington event scenario. A Carrington-like event last took place in 1859, 153 years from 2012. The operant question is:

Do Carrington event-like solar flares occur as often as every 153 years?

Although another Carrington event-like solar flare is possible, leading edge scientific analysis appears to conclude that “the probabilities of occurrence cannot be assigned with any reasonable accuracy.”

In “The extreme magnetic storm of 1–2 September 1859,” B. T. Tsurutani, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California, USA, W. D. Gonzalez, Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and G. S. Lakhina and S. Alex, Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Mumbai/Bombay, India explore the issue of how often 1859 Carrington event-like solar flares occur.

They write, “It is found that both the 1–2 September 1859 solar flare energy and the associated coronal mass ejection speed were extremely high but not unique. Other events with more intense properties have been detected; thus a storm of this or even greater intensity may occur again. Because the data for the high-energy tails of solar flares and magnetic storms are extremely sparse, the tail distributions and therefore the probabilities of occurrence cannot be assigned with any reasonable accuracy.

“How rare was the 1–2 September 1859 solar flare/ solar ejecta event? Is it possible that an event of this intensity could happen again in the near future? Since the early measurements of visible ‘white light’ flares, scientists have determined that there is radiation at a variety of other wavelengths as well. Using general scalings, Lin and Hudson [1976] have estimated the August 1972 flare to have had a total energy ranging from 1032 to 1033 ergs. Kane et al. [1995] have estimated the more recent 1 June 1991 flare to have had an extreme energy of 1034 ergs. For comparison, D. Neidig (private communication, 2001) has calculated the 1859 white light flare energy based on the Carrington [1859] report. The assumptions made are the peak flux is equal to the brightest white light flares measured thus far ( 100% enhancement over the background photospheric intensities), duration of 5 min, area 7 1017 cm2. Assuming a typical flare photometric spectrum (up to 300% brighter in the near-UV), Neidi derived a total optical output of 2 1030 ergs. K. Harvey (private communication, 2001) has estimated that this [1859] flare was most probably 1032 ergs.

“The recent Kane et al. [1995] results have shown that the previously thought ‘‘upper limit’’ of 1032 ergs for the energy of a flare can be broken by a wide margin. Our time span of observations has been quite limited (only hundreds of years), and it is therefore doubtful that we have detected events at the saturation limit (either flares or magnetic storms). Can the Sun have flares at superflare energy (1038–1039 ergs) levels? Most probably not [see Lingenfelter and Hudson, 1980], but perhaps 1035 ergs is feasible for our Sun. The effects of an accompanying perfect magnetic storm might be catastrophic.”

The methodology of Web Bot and ALTA reports

Clif High, a developer of the Web Bot predictive technology has stated, “It is worth noting that almost invariably, accurate future predictive behavior is related to threat conditions. As with our [Web Bot] software, it would appear that humans and animals can much more easily ‘feel’ a threat coming than a blessing. It is likely very true that humans in general owe continued species existence to accurate future predictive behavior.”

The Web Bot project on which the ALTA reports are based uses software to “search the Internet for about 300,000 keywords with emotional context and record the preceding and following words to create a ‘snapshot.’ Through this, the technology is claimed to be able to examine the collective unconscious of the world as a whole. It is thus said to be able to predict catastrophic [and other] events 60 to 90 days in advance.” The Web Bot is claimed to have accurately predicted the September 11, 2001 terror attacks in June 2001, as well as the blackout of the Northeastern United States in 2003. The project was unsuccessful in predicting a Vancouver, B.C. and Pacific Northwest earthquake for December 12, 2008. The Web Bot 2009 prediction "dumping of the US dollar" came true on October 23, 2009, with reports of China's initial efforts to make the Yuan an international currency.

2012 & the Web Bot- ALTA reports

Recent ALTA and Web Bot reports have found a “’data gap’ has been found between early 2012 running through May 2013. One explanation is that ‘our civilization gets knocked back to a pre-electronic state,’ such as brought about by devastating solar activity.”

This possible ‘data gap’ would be an artifact of the worst case scenario predicted by the January 2009 NAS report as to the devastation caused by a repetition of a Carrington-type event during the 2012-13 solar maximum.

As we have seen, mainstream scientists have concluded that, “the probabilities of occurrence [of another Carrington event] cannot be assigned with any reasonable accuracy.”

There are at least two possible 2012 futures, based on the current Web Bot:

(1) 2012 meme - One possibility is that the Web Bot technology may be detecting the presence on the Internet of an escalating meme regarding a “repetition of a Carrington-type event during the 2012-13 solar maximum,” rather than an actual future event.

(2) 2012 Carrington-type event solar flare - Another possibility is that the Web Bot technology has done what mainstream science now says cannot be “assigned with any reasonable accuracy,” and Web Bot is accurately predicting a repetition of a Carrington-type solar flare or related event for 2012-13.

One prediction I saw, and the reason for the underground bases, was a prediction of sustained hot winds of 300 mph for several years. A significant downgrade from a million degrees, but still impressive.

So now that the electric cartel has full control of electricity, by developing a grid that can be measured, distributed, and made scarce, where they can determine the price we pay, without any of the alternative sources of power allowed to be developed over the last century, their control grid has a very high potential of going down? And this grid, which is so vulnerable to a Carrington Type Event, is not being protected against such an event?

which he claims, quite credibly, that the technology exists where one small nuclear power generator could be set up and power ten city blocks with unlimited power, safely and without any waste? What about the opposing magnet type generators?

Can we say that the PTB do not care that the electrical grid might go down, at least for the majority of us? Can we say, since there is no measures being enacted to mitigate such an event, that they want the grid to go down?

What is the bottom line here?

The grid going down via Carrington type events would cost us control of all nuclear plants across the globe. And that is one hell of a catastrophe, in anyone's estimation. Never mind the lack of a grid afterward. Fukushima x500 or so, on a good day.

This high level of dust is changing the charge state of the local and near-stellar fields (oort size,etc) and thus causing a form of damping and then..an eventual burp.

which is what we are seeing. Lowered activity, overall, high levels of thermal activity regarding the planets proper and this damped sun....with very mean and potent burps.

The given burp might naturally follow the lines of scalar energetics, which would correspond to the astronomic alignments of the planets and possibly that of astrological alignments. But more likely the astronomical alignments within the solar system.

Small community in country side or suburban off of city has future. One can survive alone but the quality of living goes down dramatically. To prepare better living, I mean beyond survival, people need to look into small community that has independent source of water, food, and supplies in worst case scenario.

General public is so dumb down, live in delusional state completely separated from nature. One example is how many people know mobile phone will be uselessly when the grid is out? Fancy, modern condo or apartment buildings that use centralized HVAC system would be a obituary after three days of absence of electricity. There will be no water in Day 1. Water is supplied by massive electrical pump at various stations. Three days without water makes human in danger. Human need water at least 1.5L to 2L per day for being healthy.

I stopped looking into facts and evidence that tell me something is coming in near future. I rather started working on things I can do everyday. "Off grid" living is my goal. Suppose blackout occurs in the city I live, I move to my shelter either bicycle or walk or riding a motorcycle and live there at least few months comfortably. The shelter has spring water, LPG gas burner, do not require any electricity for heating and air conditioning. I don't use electrical pump to get water but bucket on a string. Neighbors look at me strangely. Some calls me I'm an idiot.

Once I install water reservoir for emergency situation, and build a pond that collect rain water, I'll have few years of clean water for myself and plants around the house.

Why the money in bank account is useless? Let me explain. When a massive black out occurs, all machines in stores and building will be dead. You can't get money from ATM or banks. Even if you have hundred thousand dollars of cash, you can't buy fuel on a gas station. The fuel pump needs electricity. What would you do then?

Main intersections will be crowded by cars, traffic accidents because all the signal lights disappear instantly or within few hours of the blackout. I count on maximum three days for total collapse on any big cities in the world. One week will destroy infrastructure.

I hope not seeing this type of natural disaster but overall I got tired of meaningless, slavery living in a city so I keep working on my off-grid project diligently. Once I have comfortable shelter, growing own food, I will be in different position. I will be able to help neighbors in the village who ask for help but I do not project nor advocate my perspective of world. I tried it few times and got only frustration. General public has been misinformed, deeply brainwashed. Everyday one part of my brain is screaming whenever I see stupidity behaviors, animated repetition like robots from people.

Small size of wind turbine, solar pannel, human powered generator, and HHC generator are practical energy source. Especially HHC generator that extracts hydrogen and oxygen from water electrolysis can provide reliable heat for cooking, heating, some other stuff in a house. Tweaking a small motorcycle can run 100% from HHC gas. Few thousand dollars of investment, you will have virtually life-time clean energy solution.
A house can be fixed or built from scratch less than few thousand dollars of expenses, the last is labor works.

Good news is there are plenty of knowledge that help people having better living. It comes down to individual level for having own life or existence as a slave like other billions. Freedom gives us choice every moment and we can be a creator too. I expect to see more and more people getting rid of TV, be the creator of their lives. Then they will start fighting against the system whoever or whatever it is. IMHO awakening is to realize own sovereign right and potential. That's just beginning.

If collective consciousness of humanity awakens within few years, which I hope to see, I'm for sure Earthlings will reach to stars.

From what I've gathered, we are actually in this cloud right now. We are protected by a mixture of our own magneto/ionosphere and an interplanetary magnetic field produced by our sun. If something were to happen to disrupt that field - that would definitely be a cause to go underground (more of a reason than solar flares) considering we are passing through this cloud.

This high level of dust is changing the charge state of the local and near-stellar fields (oort size,etc) and thus causing a form of damping and then..an eventual burp.

The given burp might naturally follow the lines of scalar energetics, which would correspond to the astronomic alignments of the planets and possibly that of astrological alignments. But more likely the astronomical alignments within the solar system.

This burp would be the physical aspect of these spiritual processes we are all talking about - 2012, soul harvesting, Archons, ascension, occult astronomy. I don't want to tread off-topic here but the system of burping you just brought up parallels the need to clear out these anomolous defactors (once they reach a critical mass) of the system in order for the program to work (if we are passing through the matrix). I bet these burps have a periodicity too related to those astronomical alignments as you suggested. That would give a metaphysical aspect to this fluff too. Sun's protective 'bubble' is shrinking

New data has revealed that the heliosphere, the protective shield of energy that surrounds our solar system, has weakened by 25 per cent over the past decade and is now at it lowest level since the space race began 50 years ago.

Scientists are baffled at what could be causing the barrier to shrink in this way and are to launch mission to study the heliosphere.

The Interstellar Boundary Explorer, or IBEX, will be launched from an aircraft on Sunday on a Pegasus rocket into an orbit 150,000 miles above the Earth where it will "listen" for the shock wave that forms as our solar system meets the interstellar radiation.

Dr Nathan Schwadron, co-investigator on the IBEX mission at Boston University, said: "The interstellar medium, which is part of the galaxy as a whole, is actually quite a harsh environment. There is a very high energy galactic radiation that is dangerous to living things.

"Around 90 per cent of the galactic cosmic radiation is deflected by our heliosphere, so the boundary protects us from this harsh galactic environment."

Measurements made by the Ulysses deep space probe, which was launched in 1990 to orbit the sun, have shown that the pressure created inside the heliosphere by the solar wind has been decreasing.

Dr David McComas, principal investigator on the IBEX mission, said: "It is a fascinating interaction that our sun has with the galaxy surrounding us. This million mile an hour wind inflates this protective bubble that keeps us safe from intergalactic cosmic rays.

"With less pressure on the inside, the interaction at the boundaries becomes weaker and the heliosphere as a whole gets smaller."

If the heliosphere continues to weaken, scientists fear that the amount of cosmic radiation reaching the inner parts of our solar system, including Earth, will increase.

This could result in growing levels of disruption to electrical equipment, damage satellites and potentially even harm life on Earth.

But Dr McComas added that it was still unclear exactly what would happen if the heliosphere continued to weaken or what even what the timescale for changes in the heliosphere are.

He said: “There is no imminent danger, but it is hard to know what the future holds. Certainly if the solar wind pressure was to continue to go down and the heliosphere were to almost evaporate then we would be in this sea of galactic cosmic rays. That could have some large effects.

“It is likely that there are natural variations in solar wind pressure and over time it will either stabilise or start going back up.”

As I posted earlier, I suspect a big problem is a combination of cycles all happening at once to create the “perfect EM storm”.

Our number one defense against solar and cosmic radiation is our magnetosphere. It has been diminishing in strength for dozens of years. Many suspect our geo-magnetic dipole is flipping like it has done numerous times in the past and is well overdue. No one knows how long the reversal process takes. It is known however that the magnetic field strength is diminishing and hence our protective shield is diminishing.

This is happening now while we are entering a solar maximum period as everyone knows. A large ‘X’ class flare while shields are down will have catastrophic effects on electronic components and power grids.

The fly in the ointment is the further complication of our entire solar system possibly being bombarded by interstellar cosmic radiation. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be a super wave of galactic charged particles bombarding our solar system because… guess what… the second shield of defense, our heliosphere is also diminished in strength. The solar winds have diminished.

So both shields, the heliosphere and the magnetosphere are diminished. This when a solar maximum is upon us (potential flares and CMEs) and… increase levels of cosmic radiation being detected. Hot, highly charged, magnetized and speedy… these cosmic plasma fields saturate the inter planetary medium allowing ANY size flare or CME to “short” from the sun to the earth like a lightning rod. Grease lightning indeed.

So IMO, it is not simply about the solar maximum but a combination of events happening all at once to create the perfect storm.

Dr Persinger (inventor of the god helmet) would seem to suggest that a huge solar flare, could have quite the effect on human consciousness. According to him, the smallest changes in electromagnetic fields would be enough to create some interesting effects on the brain.

To really run with some of the theories within this post... what if the solar events connected human consciousness as Persinger appears to suggest? What if there are literally no more secrets?
It’s scary in some ways, that everyone would have a form of collective knowledge or a hive mind. But maybe this is actually used for good, in so much as our conscious intent is directed towards holding the elite to either account or imposing a justice upon them.

It is claimed that we are god, and we have forgotten this or we have become disconnected... maybe the re-connection event is exactly why the elite are afraid of solar flares? and why they seek to destroy us all first... to save their own asses.
