Doing 125 km/h (80 mph) where 80 km/h (50 mph) was allowed, thinking about the techniques (Forgot to notice that the highway was slowing down the speed limit in 2 stages), there was a patrol car entering in the rear view mirror pulling up behind me.
I immediately felt 4 emotions/thoughts sparking of from the gut... one at the time, travelling upwards... (oops, I'm busted..........I'm going to pay lots of money for this,....... this will cost me my driving licence,........ how will I get to where I want to go without my car today?)
I was able to make peace with the feeling/thought as it rose and as soon as it came, the soon it left me... all four of them.

So I became at peace with the situation and was even slightly interested to what this experience would be like, welcoming it almost.
The officer didn't pull me over, but steered his car next to mine and as we looked at each other, he nodded at me and drove of.

What exactly prevented the officer to pull me over and take my drivers licence, is food for speculation of course, but it is easy to speculate that my attitude influenced the course of the event energetically.

    Love that picture!

You were unplugged from the 3D world of cause and effect. The willingness to let go of the illusionary physical world to watch from the greater perspective allowed the officer to be on his way.

(You were not the experience or experiencer. You were the watcher of experiencing.)

    UPATE:

    This is something I practice:

experiencer=experience=experiencing= (all one in the same)
Take no credit as the doer or action of doer or result of the doer.

I've added this before, but it demonstrate the above:

In 2005, Jim, my brother was building his home. I helped from time to time. This one day he was adding plywood to the roof. He was in a foul mood. It was hot, and he was tired. Rather than be around the ranting, I asked for another job. He had me pick up the excess straps of 2x4’s and plywood around the property.

I had been practicing how to move “out of time”, where I'd watch the body do it’s work in a rhythmic flow. No emotional attachment to the job or the result. I reported back to Jim. He couldn’t believe the job was done, but he could see the huge pile of wood. Jim had only laid two sheets of plywood. And as I write this I want to say maybe three sheets because it seems impossible for those two events to match up in a 3D world. He asked how I could've gotten so much done. My response was that I got out of my own way. The body worked while a part of me watched on. Jim asked no more questions, and I knew to not to offer. My family knows I have “strange” beliefs and our worlds are far apart. (no pun intended)

    Lughnasdh
    originally Bron Trogain

    http://www.leyline.org/cra/articles/lughnasadh.html
From Kathleen Dupree comes an eloquent essay on the origins of this feast. She includes a little-known and poignant myth of Lugh's foster mother, the daughter of an older race, the Fir Bolg, conquered by the younger Tuatha De Dannan gods of Ireland:
...Lughnasadh is named for Lugh, the Celtic deity who presides over the arts and sciences. According to Celtic legend, Lugh decreed that a commemorative feast be held each year at the beginning of the harvest season to honor his foster mother, Tailtiu. Tailtiu was the royal Lady of the Fir Bolg. After the defeat of her people by the Tuatha De Dannan, she was obliged by them to clear a vast forest for the purpose of planting grain. She died of exhaustion in the attempt. The legend states that she was buried beneath a great mound named for her, at the spot where the first feast of Lughnasadh was held in Ireland, the hill of Tailte. At this gathering were held games and contests of skill as well as a great feast made up of the first fruits of the summer harvest.... ...As years passed, traditions surrounding the feast at Tailte began to solidify into events and ceremonial activities designed to celebrate not only Tailtiu and the bounty of the harvest that her original sacrifice provided but also to honor the work and sacrifice of human beings as they strove to provide sustenance for their families and community....
...With the coming of Christianity to the Celtic lands, the old festival of Lughnasadh took on Christian symbolism. Loaves of bread were baked from the first of the harvested grain and placed on the church altar on the first Sunday of August. The Christianized name for the feast of Lughnasadh is Lammas which means "loaf mass".... [Note: too many sites vanish from the web without notice -- that's why I offer long passages from some pages, "just in case."]

Aquarius Full Moon, August 1-2, 2012

We are the guardians of His Beauty.
    We are the protectors
    Of the Sun.

    There is only one reason
We have followed God into this world:

    To encourage laughter, freedom, dance
    And love. ~ Hafiz

Our high summer full Moon falls on the old Celtic cross-quarter day of Lammas -- the first harvest. What have we harvested this year? What are the first fruits of our labors? It's always good to look back and see what we've accomplished -- it's often different than our expectations but also more than expected.

Since the full Moon makes us aware of what we've planted at the previous new Moon, go back two weeks ago and remember what you intended for this month. You might remember that instead of the previous new Moon being the Leo New Moon, it was the Cancer New Moon. Cancer is concerned with our emotional body, the very concrete things in life which nurture us. Usually it's family as a container or land and a home which ground you. Having a secure emotional body helps us feel safe and less prone to fear, more creative and less likely to be bored, more loving and less likely to be alone.

The Aquarius/Leo Full Moon makes us aware of how much love and inner security we feel so we can create. Leo's gifts are an innate sense of Self/authenticity, a generous heart and an ability to lead. Aquarius asks us to consider the community, generate new ideas and allow everyone their freedom. What a mix! How generous can you be with allowing someone else the freedom of their beliefs? How can you be a leader in your community? What new paradigms does the Self (your authentic spiritual Being) open up for you and others? There is such a possibility for creativity during this Full Moon!

All the planets except for Pluto in Capricorn (Earth) and Neptune/Chiron in Pisces (Water) are in the Air and Fire elements. Air and Fire speak to possibilities and new awareness and creativity. Air moves and changes things; Air is the breath of Life. Fire burns in the forge of creativity and the fire circle of warmth as well as in the wilderness of destruction. Air and Fire need each other to grow, either for good or ill.
In the Fire trine, we have Uranus in Aries, the Sun and Mercury retrograde in Leo and the North Node of the Moon in Sagittarius. Aries fire is wild and new, powerful and bold. With Uranus there, we are stirred up to become more than our small, petty egos. We are called to Archetypal purpose. Leo's fire is centered and controlled, steady and available for use. With Sun and Mercury (the Mind) there, we can use our will for creative possibilities. The fire of Sagittarius wants to spread out, seeking goals with purpose and principle. The North Node turns the collective consciousness toward a common purpose. There's a lot of creative potential in this fire trine. How will you use it?

In the Air trine, we have Jupiter, Venus, Ceres, Vesta and the South Node of the Moon in Gemini, Mars and Saturn in Libra and the Moon in Aquarius. Gemini deals with the dissemination of information and learning to use both the intuitive and practical Minds together. With Jupiter aligned with so many of the feminine energies in Gemini, we can either have an overload of irrelevant information, or we can successfully unite both sides of the brain -- by asking our imaginations to tell us what is actually happening and then by asking our rational minds what to do about it.
Libra deals with partnerships, justice and the Arts. It is an action-oriented Air energy, constantly trying to strike the balance between opposites. Saturn has been moving through Libra for over two years now and will finish up its stay in November 2012. Saturn says pay attention and your relationships will be fair and just, equal and responsible. Mars brings some energy to relationships, so watch out for little nudges and tweeks from others -- perhaps they just want more attention. Aquarius deals with our collective Mind, both the collective consciousness and the Higher Archetypal Mind. The Moon there will open us to new ideas for our collective future that will nurture all of us.

With the Sun channeling the Fire trine opposite the Moon channeling the Air trine, this full Moon can be a perfect time to give your ideas, your art and your passion a test-drive in the collective consciousness. With the Internet's ability to reach the whole world, who knows what like-minded group of people you'll meet and share with. Use your Leo's natural generosity and openness to gather with like-minded people to share your creative vision.

Aquarius Full Moon 2012 by Cathy Pagano/Kepler

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun at 11* Leo is: Children play on a swing hanging from the branches of a huge oak tree. This image suggests that we have to "become children again' -- (engage our imaginations) and hang and play, suspended on the great old traditions that have sustained us. For example, if we look at our traditional ideals about the American Revolution, how can we play with our part in a continuing revolution of Freedom and evolution of Human Consciousness?
The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 11* Aquarius is: During a silent hour, a man receives a new inspiration which may change his life. When our ego-consciousness quiets down and we listen inside, we can receive life-changing messages. We just have to believe in them, which doesn't mean mindlessly following a message that goes against your deepest moral values. When a message comes to us that is centered in our personal values -- not in the cultural values of state and church -- then listen, for I've seen those messages change people's lives. Sometimes these messages come to us in dreams and visions -- so learn symbolic language to understand what messages are trying to come through.
From the green forests, rocky farmlands and watery shores of Rhode Island, may your harvests be fruitful!
    Blessed Be!

I was able to make peace with the feeling/thought as it rose and as soon as it came, the soon it left me... all four of them.

Just a little comment, Walkytweaky, if it can be helpful, but it seem to me that you are not mentioning emotions here, but what you are telling yourself during or before the emotions arise. This, to me, seems different from emotions.

For example, I would tell myself "Oh my Gosh, my daughter's father is still in a tweaked (lol) mood, he will be difficult to handle" then the emotion arising from it is either fear, disapointment or anger. It does help for me to name the emotion directly, because it is often the first thing I feel, even if my mind has been running amock with little develish sentences for a while beforehand.

And what I tell/told myself will impact on what is happening in the given situation in terms or emotions. For example, if I replace the sentence by "Oh, (take off my Gosh to take off the intensity) "Oh, my daughter's father seems (not is) in a tweaked mood, what will I do to handle it?" you see, it change the perspective and my emotions are then may be still disapointment, then bits of sadness for the situation, then a feeling of empowerment because I can do something

I realised a while ago that to change the situation and the emotion, I would have to change what I tell myseif, my selftalk. I also realised that if the emotions arising are not clearly named, they will bottle up instead of changing, and the overall work will be kind of wasted.

    I hope this help.

So, walkytweaky, what were the emotion going with the self talk?
    Thank You FLash,

It's true that I'm not sure to what exactly happens and what to call the different stages of the process.

To point it back at what happened with the speeding and the patrol officer:
I felt and spark (physical sensation of energy) that was coming from somewhere in the gut or stomach, rising up to the chest and head, becoming a picture of what will maybe happen (thought or just a mental picture?) and this is accompanied with a feeling of building fear and panic (emotion?).
It might be that I'm telling myself: Oops, I'm busted etc..., but I experience it as a mental picture mostly and I merely tried to give words to it.
So what is it... telling myself something, mental picture, thoughts? I get confused about these things

If I'm correct, what you are talking about is a form of NLP (neuro linguistic programming) which is a technique that is aiming to change the experience that you are having.
What I talk about is a technique that is aiming to allow all that presents itself to us (thoughts, feelings and emotions) to be there, without judging it or identifying with it. Just let it flow through us and allowing it free passage as one would with a bird flying bye.
How we play with this are different techniques if I'm not mistaken.

I recently talked to someone here on the forum who practices both techniques at the same time actually and he teaches it to friends and family with success.
I still have my reservations about this for myself, but it seems to be working for others.
My intended little comment is getting larger.

Felt a spark with accompanying feeling of fear: emotions yes
Telling myself, mental picture: automatic unconscious thought based most probably on previous experience, yes

NLP aiming at changing the experience: you are right on that, NLP can be used to changed the emotional experience, and it is the example I gave - my mistake.
Because NLP could also be used only to become aware of what is going on, without changing the experience, in this case we would only look at the first sentence and check it out in my example.
Allowing the emotion to be there without judging, meaning accepting and living the experience in the moment, is great. Knowing in the moment that what we live is an emotion and that the mental abilities can block it by putting words/images on it is, in my idea, essential.
Then, if we want to change it for any reason, we could go to the next step.

My point is, that by naming what is lived (verbal or visual thoughts and emotions), or by realising what is lived, we become more conscious and less of an automaton. First step to becoming the observer and the experimenter at once (at the same time).

The next step could be, if we desire, the creator step. Changing the experience of the experiencer and the observation of the observer. Creating our own reality, then creating our own collective reality for what we would deem better. You can, at this place, start the baby step by changing your mind talk or picture right when it emerges. The experience will change automatically and the overall energy going with it.

I found a video that seems quite interesting on these aspect, if you have the time to put for it. Some points of interest:

    1. It is from Google talks, and I just learn that google is actively involved in studying the neurological system of human on their premises and is sharing their findings (at least some ) with the public. I am pretty sure of how they will use the web with those findings. Bit scary.
    2. At minute 14.56 the video describes the different steps that emotions go through in a normal being:

    a) A description of everything known that has an impact on emotions and the changes in them, positive or negative, that you are conscious of it or not.
    b) The step for emotions regulations (those are mostly automatic), thinking a certain way changes the meaning/interpretation (here becoming an observer is interesting)
    c) The shift of attention towards the stressor of away from it are two possible behaviors having an impact
    d) Appraisal of the situation
    e) Cognitive reappraisal leading to intepretation
    f) How do I view how my mind works (here we are full fledge in the observer).

Lots of time we do not even get consciously past step C, so my point is to become more conscious of the process, this will lead to stronger being less potentially influenced by the outside world. And become creator of positively oriented environment for the well being of all.

    The subsequent part resume:
Emotion reactivity (limbic system) ---- Regulating (Cortical System) -- Modulation of intensity and interpreting mediated through our view itself and our language usage.

Minute 22.18 describes waht emotional intelligence is in comparison with not having emotions/not living them (blocking). It mentions that greater emotional intelligence correlates, in the brain itself, with lesser need for control (the control parts of the brain do not light up as much).

So yes, your desire to live the emotions and let go are in direct correlation in the brain.

What I find interesting is that all those steps above do correspond as well with what spiritual masters have been describing for ages, for beginners on the path.

At minute 32.54 they talk about compassion and capacity to care, love and compassion are a necessity, not a luxury because without them humanity cannot survive.

Would the tide be turning around and away from the psychopaths?????

Miinute 41.16: meditation protect the gray matter from decaying with aging, scientifically proven WOW

Minute 52.08: Creswell study on emotion labelling in MRI: labelling help to reduce amygdalia activity, it modifies the brain. Emotion expression is helpful if skillfully done but can also backfire. This is why I was mentioning labelling, not expressing necessarily.

edit: Cannot embed the video and I have no idea why. The other problem I have is when I want to put an emoticon on the line, it shows up at the top of the whole post. I have to copy paste to have it at the right place.

Thanks WCBD and Nora. Dan, a diagnosis leads to treatment. Now y'all can find the natural and holistic alternative to whatever the docs prescribe! LOL j/k, I'm sure you will all come to the best decision about what is best for the young man going forward. My parents weren't hippies but I was, look at that collar!

I even had a brown leather vest with fringes on it! I kept that thing till it only had 3 or 4 fringes left on it!

WCBD, everything happens for a reason, doesn't it ... leaving the system was hard. Losing everything was devastating. But it taught me how to be. Reminded me, rather. At some level, I was happy it was all gone. I still have very little. But when more comes into my life, I will know exactly what it is worth.

Nora, your experience sounds wonderful. For over a year before I left Texas in 2010 I was doing sweatlodges in the Apache and Mexican styles at least twice a month. I miss them so much. I'm in Canada now, just a quarter mile from these folks:

I may have the opportunity to interact on a close basis with them soon. I'm hoping. I miss the darkness, the grandmothers and the fire and the feeling of coming out of the lodge into the cool dark. Bless.

Default Re: Here and Now...What's Happening?

    Hi all - been busy.

I just had a "moment" over on another forum and I like what my HS(?) bought me.

I was in a thread on another (Law Of One based) forum talking about the way in which the Tarot was used in the Law Of One where in Ra says of the Tarot:

    http://lawofone.info/results.php?s=76&v=e&sc=1&ss=1#6

Quote Ra:I am Ra. The origin of this system of study and divination is twofold: firstly, there is that influence which, coming in a distorted fashion from those who were priests attempting to teach the Law of One in Egypt, gave form to the understanding, if you will pardon the misnomer, which they had received. These forms were then made a regular portion of the learn/teachings of an initiate. The second influence is that of those entities in the lands you call Ur, Chaldea, and Mesopotamia who, from old, had received the, shall we say, data for which they called having to do with the heavens. Thusly we find two methods of divination being melded into one with uneven results; the, as you call it, astrology and the form being combined to suggest what you might call the correspondences which are typical of the distortions you may see as attempts to view archetypes.
All these "distortions" could be considered off putting for someone looking for answers in the study of Tarot, and I was considering this when my moment happened.

    I then wrote this:

Quote I think the core of Ra's message here is the ever present necessity for discernment.
    There are no accuracy guarantees.
The tarot are tools for exploration, a structured approach to a vast spectrum of knowledge after the fashion of a well organized teaching curriculum.
What you explore and what you find will be different compared with each other self on the same exploration, we all walk a different path no matter how we walk it and no matter what structured approaches we follow.
The path, as with the truth, is both within us and therefore in all. We are that - for all is one.
We all know this intellectually, yet we do not grasp it.
Half of that language does not appear to me to be mine - it is right out the law of one style.

It was not like when I channel my higher self, but there was a lot of similarity.
-- Let the truth be known by all, let the whole truth be known by all, let nothing but the truth be known by all --

There has been much talk about "free will". It takes conscious effort to wake up and be in a good mood and given a choice, I would prefer to dance. Our feelings and emotions are energy, and as such are meant to move.

These odd and strange things...I never know what's coming, ya know? I mean, really, it's 3:45am - usually my best sleeping. This morning, though, I awoke right after 1am. I was sleeping like a baby, restful and peaceful and so soundly. Sometime around 1:00 I started to rouse, and thought it must be after 7am because I felt like I had slept all night. Except for this itching. No bites, no bugs, no reason to itch. The bottom of my feet, my head, my ears, my eyelashes even itch. No new laundry or body soap, no new foods introduced, no reason to itch. I have searched for hives, none. It's the weirdest thing. It's an inside itch, ever had one of those? Like I'm allergic to something, but it is in my bloodstream. I have decided it must be another stage in this...development...I'm going through. My body must be releasing more toxins. I think it is wonderful they are being released, because then they will be gone. Well, at least this round will be gone. I've already gone through my digestive and respiratory systems...and as irritating as it is to itch on every square inch of my body, I prefer the itch to those.

I can't decide why I am hesitant to share these days. Not one of you have expressed concern regarding my sanity until now, on the contrary you have all encouraged me to continue allowing Me to express Myself through me. I don't know what I would have done if I had not found you all when I did to tell you the truth. There was not one single person in my life in whom I would have confided the revelations I have had in the past 6 months or so. I'm not sure if it is fear that is keeping me from further sharing of my here and now, my amazing ride from "Little Ole Me" to "Holy Crap!" I think that as each day passes, each insight comes to me, each layer of the onion is peeled away, what I am seeing and understanding and knowing is so unbelievable and so unreal and so incredible that to any other group of people I might sound crazy. I know I would. Here and Now, though, this Village has kept me sane. Why am I having such a hard time here? Grrrr.

I doubt I will be able to sleep, but the itching has subsided to only once every few minutes instead of constantly, so I will try.

    Much Love, my online family

    Ohhh Jenci,

What are you doing to me.
You get me all confused again

    Well.. food for reflection actually.
This is very useful to me... like always.
    Confusion is very good

The nature of mind is that it is needs to make sense, organise, solve problems. Very often we find that we only get to the point of surrendering the mind when it is so confused it cannot work it out.

The reality is that "you" are not confused, your mind is. But you are not your mind, yet the mind cannot understand this, because this is beyond it, therefore beyond its understanding.

There are plenty of techniques to use, all adding to the confusion but to simplify, techniques fall into two catergories

    (A) those which involve the use of the mind

    (B) those which don't use the mind and therefore take the person to the place beyond the mind (connection with source, HS, spirit, whatever you want to call it)

Some people find that techniques which involve the mind, category (A) can be very effective. The mind can be trained and tamed and the person doing it can end up with a very pleasant and comfortable life because of it but I could compare this to a dog who gets trained to perform tricks and behave, it's great, it's happy.... but it is not free.

The mind is a veil which obscures the true self so to have direct experience of the true self/source/HS you need to go beyond the mind and in transcending it, the veil gets lifted.

A mind trained with mental techniques is still a veil which obscures the source/HS. Now the mind may tell a story that because it has evolved to behave in certain ways, that this is now the connection with the source/HS but this is just a story that it tells and if one story is believed, then a thousand will be believed.

In some ways this "spiritual mind/ego" can be more problematic than the prior misbehaving mind/ego because life has got better and it believes that it has reached the source/HS when, in fact, it is preventing that connection by its new spiritual/well behaved identity.

Eckhart's techniques fall into the category of going beyond the mind, category (B) and they are good techniques although the mind can co-opt the technique and make it its own. I have come across people practising his techniques but they have ended up with a mind/ego trying to get into the "Now" which creates the spiritual mind/ego which thinks it has reached home when it hasn't.

Personally I found his techniques as a good introduction but then needed to supplement with other teachings, perhaps more heavyweight, which were finer tuned to pick up the subtleties of when the mind was coming in to do the work.

One question that I have found which has helped me many times is "What do I really want?" and I have used this question by asking it and taking it within.

Invariably I find that to have what I really want, I have to do the thing I don't want to do. The contemplation of this question alone has destroyed many of my mind's delusions about what techniques and paths to follow.

Thank you for sharing your exploration to the Self. It's humbling and inspiring to read.
