WHOLE FOOD:

Avoid: Sugar, sweets, processed foods, white flour, wheat, processed or allergenic type foods.

Miso: A 1990 Hiroshima University study concluded that people who eat miso soup regularly may be up to five times more resistant to radiation poisoning. The Japanese did research in 1972 identifying an active ingredient in miso called zybicolin, which acts as a binding agent detoxify and eliminate radioactive elements (such as strontium) and other pollutants from the body.

Seaweed: According to several scientific studies, seaweed is able to neutralize radioactive isotopes in the human body. Kelp and Kombu are the most medicinal. Canadian researchers at McGill University of Montreal, in 1968 found that sea vegetables contained a polysaccharide called sodium alginate, which selectively bound radioactive strontium and eliminated it from the body. The Russians have isolated a polysaccharide U-Fucoidan from their own kelp, which has been found to be another radioactive detoxifier. Add seaweed to meals, cook w beans, grains and stews or chew on seaweed raw or roasted for crunchier texture. Miso Seaweed Soup w orange veggies: Pumpkin, carrot, parsnip, rutabaga, burdock rt, ginger and daikon. http://www.radiationdetox.com/depleted-uranium.htm states: Tatsuichiro Akizuki, M.D. was Director of the Department of Internal Medicine at St. Francis's Hospital in Nagasaki at the time of the atomic bombing. He fed his staff and patients a strict diet of brown rice, miso and tamari soy soup, wakame, kombu and other seaweed, Hokkaido pumpkin, and sea salt. He also prohibited the consumption of sugar and sweets since they suppress the immune system. By imposing this diet on his staff and patients, no one succumbed to radiation poisoning whereas the occupants of hospitals located much further away from the blast incident suffered severe radiation fatalities.

Himalayan, Celtic or Sea Salt for maximum absorption of vital minerals which may help prevent isotopes from lodging in tissue and bone.

Cilantro is known to bind and chelate heavy metals from body, but you need to eat or juice a LOT of it over many days to be effective.

Brassicas (Broccoli family), Orange and Dark Green Foods: (sweet potatoes, winter squash, pumpkin, beets, carrots, kale, collards, chard, and spinach)

Lentils and other legumes: According to Susan Weed and other sources dried beans, especially lentils can reverse DNA damage done by radiation.

Pectin rich fruits: Pectin acts as a natural chelating agent and has the ability to bind radioactive residues and remove them from the body. Black and Green Teas: From Susan Weed's article: In Fighting Radiation and Chemical Pollutants with Foods, Herbs, and Vitamins (Vitality, 1991), Steven Schecter tells us that both black and green tea showed "radioprotective effects" whether taken before or after exposure to radiation. Among other modes of operation, tea catechins absorb radioactive isotopes and remove them from the body before they do damage. The action is similar he says, to that of sodium alginate (the "active ingredient" in kelp seaweed).


MUSHROOMS:

Reishii is recommended in most of the literature I have researched and reduces damage from radiation. Be careful ingesting wild mushrooms or oversea sources - mushrooms tend to absorb toxins, heavy metals and radioactive isotopes from polluted air.

Green and Black Teas: Tea catechins absorb radioactive isotopes and remove them from the body before they do damage. These anti-radiation effects were observed in several Japanese studies, and studies from China also suggest that the ingredients in tea are radioactive antagonists.

Nettles, Catnip, Ginkgo High in Selenium, aid and assist with radiation detoxification.

Eluethro (Siberian Gingseng) has a radioprotective effect and has been shown to reduce side effects of radiation. It was distributed by the Soviet Union to those exposed to Chernobyl radiation and is commonly used to help cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy.

Ginseng: Susan Weed: In clinical trial with humans, those who took ginseng extract (Panax quinquefolium) 30 days following exposure to radiation showed hastened recovery from injuries to their bone marrow, organs, skin, and blood cells according to Paul Bergner in The Healing Power of Ginseng, The Enlightened Person's Guide, Prima, 1996.

Astragalus, Red Clover, (both legumes) all other blood purifiers.

That's good info, and thanks, but I am not so sure about algae and seaweed and other products from Japan, since Fukushima has contaminated so much of the country.
There is an organic spirulina powder that is being grown in inland India that NOW brand is selling.
I've started taking that instead of the brand I was buying from Hawaii, since Hawaii is contaminated now too.
Kelp powder and other seaweed products available from Norway are probably safer than the Japanese products now.

It's a real catch 22, that so many of the foods that are good for combating the effects of radiation are from Japan, which has been so irradiated.

I am a proponent of an electric universe. Thunderbolts of the Gods is a good start. I do not believe that our Sun is nuclear. Our scientists have been failing us with their dogmas for too long. Entrenched beliefs protect themselves from new finding that contradict the papers of established names and thought.

I believe radiation is a little more nuanced than hysterics have it. Or proponents of it.

Perhaps I should add that if you are accustomed to Spirulina from Hawaii, the flavor of the product from India is different. It has a much more earthy flavor, and may take some getting used to.

Also I would like to add that what we are terming "nuclear power" is not the same as "nuclear energy". There is a synthetic force made from fission reactions(nuclear power) and also natural forms that the universe produces, including the Earth. It has two bands of radiation that surround the planet. So I am saying that it is always good to question and check the meaning of the words we are constantly fed. That does not negate what was mentioned above however that also has merit. For example I can see how nearly all forms of power we use for our living are tainted with some sort of fear game by the PTW. If it is not the power source itself it is that we might run out. -scarcity creates profit.
