Thanks for this thread. I am not sure if I would give this a 5* rating but it certainly was part of my political education like 'Network' and this clip does a good job of demonstrating how they carry on getting away with it:

EMPIRE OF THE CITY - WORLD SUPERSTATE
    a.k.a. THE RING OF POWER

Learn the relationship between secret societies, the Egyptians, original 'Hebrews', Rome (what is now the Vatican) Great Britain (which means 'Land of the Covenant') and the historical relationship between all these groups and how it ties in to what is going on today right up to 911 ... I would take notes when you watch this one...

here it is in two parts on Google

    The Holy mountain

The film is based on Ascent of Mount Carmel by St. John of the Cross and Mount Analogue by René Daumal, who was a student of G.I. Gurdjieff. In this film much of Jodorowsky's visually psychedelic story follows the metaphysical thrust of Mount Analogue. This is revealed in such events as the climb to the Alchemist, the assembly of individuals with specific skills, the discovery of the mountain that unites Heaven and Earth "that cannot not exist" and symbolic challenges along the mountain ascent. Daumal died before finishing his allegorical novel, and Jodorowsky's improvised ending provides a way of completing the work (both symbolically and otherwise.)
    Preparation

The central members of the cast were said[who?] to have spent three months doing various spiritual exercises guided by Oscar Ichazo of the Arica Institute. The Arica training features Zen, Sufi and yoga exercises along with eclectic concepts drawn from the Kabbalah, the I Ching and the teachings of Gurdjieff. After the training, the group lived for one month communally in Jodorowsky's home before production.

Jodorowsky was also instructed by Ichazo to take LSD for the purpose of spiritual exploration.[citation needed] He also administered psilocybin mushrooms to his actors during the shooting of the death-rebirth scene.[2]
    Plot

A man (later identified as a thief) representing The Fool, a tarot card typically depicting a young man stepping off a cliff, lies on the ground with flies covering his face like excrement. He is befriended by a footless, handless dwarf (representing the five of swords: defeat) and goes into a city to make money from tourists. The thief's resemblance to Christ inspires some to use his likeness for the crucifixes that they sell by casting an impression of his face and body. After a dispute with a priest who rejects the thief's likeness of himself, the thief eats off the face of his wax statue and sends it skyward with balloons, symbolically eating the body of Christ and offering "himself" up to heaven. Soon after, he notices a crowd gathered around a large tower, where a large hook with a bag of gold has been sent down in exchange for food. The thief, wishing to find the source of the gold, ascends the tower; finding the alchemist (played by Jodorowsky) and his silent female assistant.

After a confrontation with the alchemist, the thief defecates into a container. The excrement is transformed into gold by the alchemist who proclaims: "You are excrement. You can change yourself into gold." The thief accepts the gold, but when shown himself in a mirror he angrily smashes the mirror with the gold, and the alchemist takes the thief as an apprentice.

The thief is introduced to seven people who will accompany him on his journey; they are said to be the most powerful but mortal, like himself. They are related to planets in astrological terms and portrayed with broad-brush satire, each personifying the worst aspects of his or her planet's supposed characteristics. The seven consist of: a cosmetics manufacturer (male, Venus), a weapons manufacturer (female, Mars), a millionaire art dealer (male, Jupiter), a war toy maker (female, Saturn), a political financial adviser (male, Uranus), a police chief (male, Neptune) and an architect (male, Pluto). They are gathered together by the alchemist who instructs them to burn their money and wax images of themselves. Together with the Alchemist, the Thief and the Alchemist's assistant they form a group of ten.

After several scenes wherein the characters are led by the alchemist through several death/rebirth rituals, they carry staffs topped with their planets' symbols; the alchemist's symbol is the Sun, the thief is the Moon, and the alchemist's silent assistant is Mercury. They all journey to Lotus Island to gain the secret of immortality from nine immortal masters who live on a holy mountain. Once on Lotus Island they are sidetracked by the "Pantheon Bar", a cemetery party where people have abandoned their quest for the holy mountain and instead engage in drugs, poetry or acts of physical prowess. Leaving the bar behind, they ascend the mountain and each have personal symbolic visions representing each characters worst fears and obsessions. Near the top, the thief is sent back to his "people" along with a young prostitute and an ape who has followed him to the mountain. The rest confront the cloaked immortals who are shown to be only faceless dummies. The alchemist then breaks the fourth wall and reveals the film apparatus just outside the frame (cameras, microphone, lights and crew) and says "Zoom back camera!", instructing everyone including the audience for the film, to leave the holy mountain. "Real life awaits us," he says, and the movie ends.

Check out a movie called The Forbidden Cures Of Cancer......it's about people who actually came out with cures for cancer but were banned from the medical industry in the U.S.A. Some doctors went to Mexico to open a clinic. It also tells the story of a nurse in Canada who came out with a natural cure for cancer.

Anyone that has seen THE MATRIX will instantly recognize the same theme in the movie called DARK CITY ( as I feel a better version of how 'reality' could look like)

IN my opinion this movie far exceeds the MATRIX by a mile. It is truly well done and leaves a lot of the material for your interpretation .

Anyone familiar with the WINGMAKERS material will instantly recognize the THE STRANGERS as they are called in the movie as the THE ANIMUS (or something along the LINES)

In my opinion: Great take, great acting and great ending.

I'll counter this with A. Huxleys "A Brave New World" which, to me, is closer to where we are RIGHT NOW, than where we may be going.

Also, one of my favorite docu's; I've probably watched it 20 times or so...

    Athene's Theory of Everything:
Quote Using his newly acquired information and understanding, he was able to come up with an incredible amount of new correlations that, as he puts it, "solve a huge list of current problems in physics". If proven correct, his findings would not only have practical, but also deeply philosophical implications.

The findings and correlations presented are just now hitting the world wide web, along with the documentary, and have not yet been peer reviewed. I am very much looking forward to seeing what experts in the fields have to say about this interesting new stuff.

Athene's 'Theory of Everything' doesn't only refer to the scientific concept of a unified field theory, but also to the scope of his research, which encompasses everything that has deep significance regarding the way science can affect our views on life, death and reality, ranging from neuroscience to particle physics.

watching this again, lots of black and white checkered floors (duality symbolism, trapped humanity)lots of good themes in this movie, thanks for bringing it back up to my attention.

I'm not sure if this is five star, but I like the old B horror movie "They Live" with the one time wrestler Roddy Piper as the main character. It was done in 1988 on a low budget but has some great elements, excellent humour, and a message that is somewhat accurate from what the average Avalonian would know -- perhaps not so much in 1988 -- thus it is almost more practical now. If you like cheesy sci-fi and conspiracies portrayed in a way to make you think a little - this classic is for you!

The story of St. Francis of asissi. It's a great throwback and an absolutely gorgeous flower-power movie era film.
It's about profound spiritual awakening and rebirth. Also shows corruption in the church and society in 13th century.

Gotta love those old movie colours...Why has everything become so refined

I think I'll watch this one.

I'm not sorry I watched it. I loved the part where he threw the wealth out of the window. I think everybody should be doing that, to some extent.

Now, I can't say that about Holy Mountain. Shmoley Froley what in the drilly is that? Who comes up with that kind of freak? That stuff scared me more than the tons of horror movies I consumed so far.
