Unless one is dealing with someone who has my condition....(thank God it is only a mild form) ...Aspergers Syndrome.

My childhood was horrible...I received lots of love but did not want it, not at all. I'm a Capricorn and used to be grumpy when someone offered me love. Pushed them away, even.
What I needed and wanted was that the crazy post-war world out there would become a world that made sense to me.
It didn't happen for a long, long time, not until recently.
Admittedly, my dilemma led to an intensive search, but if all I needed was love I would still be living on a farm in Germany,
as there was a lot of love and hearty warmth...no shortage. Everyone meant so well.
But I needed and wanted an understanding of why the world as a whole was so chaotic and apparently meaningless.
Large scale oppression, poverty, injustice, and all that....
When those questions were answered I could relax and go the love route...sometimes.....
This thread has been a great teacher ...
Distinguishing between my need for love, which obviously I have, like everyone else, and my need for understanding and getting answers to burning questions, which keep my brain healthy.

Yes, the ego body does indeed fight back as if it is drowning. Specifically if anything threatens it. it will just explode all aver the dang place,and to the mind, evil will be pouring out of everywhere. Just like the last gasp of life, before it lets go. Hearts and muscle will literally rend themselves and all manner of nightmare and cycling of all will happen in the mind. It will immediately begin to erase any attempts to touch it.

I ask again, does anyone remember the sequence of events of and into the mentioning of the fire sale?

Not sure if I understand this correctly. Even at the time when I first read about the fire sale in that post you refer to...I had to google "fire sale". I understood you meant by that to get rid of the inner garbage. Do a cleaning job.
I guess you are talking in general terms here...noticing the egos running all over the place...in their underwear.

To clarify, to my personal understanding...None of this is about saving others, it never was. It is about one clearing themselves. The level of energy it takes to get past the personal barrier is as big as the block in the mind, the idea of self, as reflection. The trap is subtle, and persistent. The road is circuitous, as the mind makes it so. A route that is as convoluted and twisted and hidden in a way that is big and as intense as the will to drive it out. The mind takes time to change, thus it cannot be completed, as paths go, in the form of a quick fix. no free rides no quick fixes, no shortcuts. No avenues will be left unexplored, as the mind will go there and into them as a form of escape from the primary task as avoidance techniques. Up to and including the idea of being heart centered as an overdriven falsification.... as a way to block the mind from an actual turning to the task at hand. It will generally take years of direct unrelenting dedication to explore all the false paths, until one turns to the real task in the right kind and way of surrender, that it takes to get there.

Another way to say it is that none of the monks at the monastery would ever directly help a person fix themselves. The person will be shown the answer in themselves, by themselves. That they will have to find the way in themselves to break their hold on everything that is in them. It is a fire sale. Everything must go. Everything.

(No it is not a good idea to bite Mommy's snot rags ... ) (getting up to get Pippin a piece of twine... ) I think people started to examine themselves, rather than pointing the fingers at others ... ? I had a great deal of "desire" for the thread to survive... started talking too much because of it. Had to back off from that wanting ... know that no matter what happened, in some transformed way the energy would continue.

I am 63 now, and I understand (more) how slow, how bit by tiniest bit I grow over the decades. Someone asked a question recently somewhere on Avalon, how do you know if you are making spiritual progress?

Answer: Are you a little bit kinder, a little less impatient? Are you more aware of how you impact others? Do you take people where they are at, with more tolerance, respect and acceptance?

We've been headed toward a correction for quite some time. too much self identification with the thread. It has served it's purpose so far. It has taken me all morning to read at least 26 pages or so to see what this was all about. This thread can add ten pages in a day which is why I can't keep up and drop out for long periods of time. Doing this today, enforces my feelings about the dangers of posting here about whatever might pop into my head.

I sometimes feel kind of guilty about lurking in a way but if you only have time for a page, it is probably a good idea. Thus, some days feel highly productive and some feel like a waste of time. The cycle of ego is explained and re explained here often and that alone is a good teaching thing. I like a lot of you and I work on loving all of you. I want to form an intentional community as the legacy of my life. Coming here is the constant teaching I need to understand the dynamics of what I want to do. As long as we all live in the body, which I think is one of the greatest gifts mankind has been given, living grounded and centered much less aware is very difficult.

If we become a village and extend our feelings to everyone, do we also extend our projections? If so, maybe the consideration of first, do no harm must be focused on ourselves first. Doing no harm to yourself is often not being so sensitive to everyword written in this space we cannot see the eyes of the soul behind it. I am more outsider here than insider and this has been a very difficult read, it makes me sorry for us all because the task is so great and the time is so fleeting. Maybe you have to be 68 to feel this way and it is my bias.

ulli, looking around and counting only 9 members and 10 guests...
I can't deal with the huge crowds...more comfortable now ...so, why not?
