    Yes, she's worth a re-post, I agree.

I went searching through photos of "Angel Oak" and found the following image (Hope this is not too big. Right-click the image and select "View Image" from the menu, and it will fill your screen,)

Angel Oak. John's Island (Charleston) South Carolina.

I have had the pleasure of standing under this tree as well as hugging this tree. (Yes, I'm a tree hugger.) Very, very impressive in person. Mystical presence.

Hi guys, what a beautiful tree! Fun to hop online and see that first thing!

I have been hiding in my shell all week. I figured out a secret. Hot bubble baths and reading are heavenly. Last couple of weeks just about kicked my butt, but I am proud to say, they did not. Well, okay, in the end I came out of it.

Hope to catch up now, but looks like you guys have been busy...might take me a couple of days.

    Much Love

Baobab flower essence is to help people of different cultures and communities live together in peace. The white flowers bloom infrequently, and open at night. The scent attracts fruit bats that help pollination.

Here's some specific info on the flower essence remedy. It sounds to me like the essence for the times.

The signature of the Baobab Flower Remedy is that it will assist in the spiritual transformation in the exciting times we live in at the beginning of the Age of Aquarius. The flower is a large, white waxy flower with 5 petals. The flower has a prehistoric feel to it, and is pollinated by fruit bats. The Baobab has 5 petals and 5 leaves, and the number 5 in numerology represents the emotional plane (the heart). The flower essence relates specifically to the heart and crown chakras, opening our hearts and minds to the higher forces of the Universe. The essence will help people to see how spiritually we are all ONE on the same journey home. The word Baobab means "the time when man began", a time where we were all One and our journey home is to return to this state of being, oneness with other human beings and nature. The new millennium also marks a time for a new beginning of man and woman, as the consciousness of Oneness continues to expand and grow across the globe. It is a time where people are increasingly taking responsibility for their own lives, health and the environment rather than relying on governments or other institutions. The success of this journey will mean an end to all forms of war, oppression and ecological destruction as our respect for all life becomes central to our way of thinking. The Baobab Flower Essence is a gift from nature to help humanity on this journey. The ascending astrological sign of the Baobab Essence is Aries, which is the start of the zodiac and indicates the start of a new cycle.

The other distinctive feature of the Baobab Tree is that it can undergo a huge amount of mutilation, and still continue to thrive and heal. For example, I visited a Baobab Tree with a pub inside it near Magoebaskloof, which amazingly was still alive and well. This indicates that the Flower remedy of the tree can heal even the deepest scars and mutilation of body and spirit. It is a tree of incredible resilience, strength and self-healing properties. It is interesting that a Baobab Tree of South Africa has chosen to give us this gift, where the divide between black and white people has been most marked, and has caused very deep wounds and spiritual and emotional damage to both the oppressed and oppressors. The astrological birthchart of the essence also indicates that it can heal very deep wounds, particularly emotional and spiritual wounds. Chiron (the Wounded Healer Archetype), Vulcan (a hypothetical transneptunian planet who helps to put our dismembered and fragmented bits back together), Pluto (the unconscious and dark side) and the Sun (the heart) are all found in the 9th House of the Chart, the house of long distance travel. In one case the Baobab Essence healed a flesh wound virtually overnight.

Your tree Astrid is famous and cherished. Even has its own Wikipedia citation.

The Angel Oak is a Southern live oak tree located in Angel Oak Park, in Charleston, South Carolina, on Johns Island, one of South Carolina's Sea Islands. It is estimated to be 300-400 years old, stands 65 ft (20 m) tall, measures 28 ft (8.5 m) in circumference, and shades with its crown an area of 17,000 square feet (1,600 m2).[1] Its widest crown spread point-to-point is 180 ft, which is longer than any other live oak in the country. Its longest limb is 105 feet (32 m) in length. The tree and surrounding park have been owned by the city of Charleston since 1991.[2]

Other sites have it as being much older -as old as 1500 years. http://www.angeloaktree.com/

Thought those two words would exaggerate the polarity ...two famous media clichés...which are constantly being used to capture attention...
also to avoid all ideas of either creation of life (gender related, ie sex) or destruction of life (violence) to leave it to the readers to examine their internal response, independently of language associations.
Hence I was really hoping to come up with a term that would be free from any association with either extreme, something very, very impartial. I'm now thinking more of blending, or mixing....deliberately non-poetic, words that would never manipulate any emotion so that the image can speak for itself.

    Yes, she's worth a re-post, I agree.

I went searching through photos of "Angel Oak" and found the following image (Hope this is not too big. Right-click the image and select "View Image" from the menu, and it will fill your screen,)

    Dennis
I thought the same thing when I saw this picture, what a great live oak! Quercas Virginiana. My favorite tree. The colossal live oaks, the ones that survived, were virtually the only things still standing or living within a mile of the shore after Hurricane Katrina. They looked themselves as if they were in shock and suffered PTSD. They did, but they have survived. I've never been to John's Island, but now I have a reason to go there.

My favorite author is Henry Miller, and I was so proud when I read years ago in his book, "The Air Conditioned Nightmare": "At Biloxi, Mississippi, there is a row of live oaks planted a century ago by a Greek which are of such staggering loveliness and magnificence as to make one breathless." Elsewhere he wrote that it is in Biloxi where the Live Oaks trees stand in apotheosis. The Live oaks on the MS coast and elsewhere down there are such majestic sentient beings. Even amidst all the death and destruction that Katrina wrought, I grieved for those trees. So many died, but so many survived too, their limbs and boughs wearing the disjointed destruction like "red badges of courage" in defiant perseverance. Great trees without a doubt.

I really want to visit this tree now,

The vibration coming from her is something else.

I think our thread has a mascot now, the Angel Oak.

If you are having issues with low energy, tap into her and you
will be soon feeling mighty fine..

Sabian symbols from Lynda Hill ( just posted )

"I thought to post the Symbol for Mercury and Saturn today.

Mercury is on Scorpio 2: A BROKEN BOTTLE AND SPILLED PERFUME

This Symbol implies something fragile and beautiful that may somehow be
shattered or lost. It can also show the need to let things go and not hang onto
them to the point of shattering and loss. There will be times of building up
or concentrating your emotions until they are suddenly let out. There may be
little that you can do about the initial outburst, but you need to be careful of
what you say and do as you sort things out. Sometimes things need to be
“Broken” so that their contents can be released and fully appreciated or
revealed. The smell of “Perfume” can release memories of love, longing and
desire, but also anger, hurt or jealousy. Memories lingering on. Spilled emotions.
Scents or aromas. Upsetting people. Shattered emotions. Chiropractors.
Back surgeons. Genie let out of the bottle. Breaking glass.

The Caution: Things looking good, but contents disappointing.
The desire for drama. Bad smells. Substance abuse. Emotional mess.
    Smelling salts. Passing out. Accidents.

    and Saturn is on Scorpio

    1: A SIGHT-SEEING BUS FILLED WITH TOURISTS
This Symbol speaks of taking in the world through the senses; seeing,
tasting, observing and getting in amongst what’s going on. There can be
a feeling of knowing one's destination, having a map or guide, but not always
knowing what it is truly like. One feels guided and cocooned on the journey,
but there can be feelings of being an observer and, sometimes, of being
observed. You could, at times, feel like you’re separate from what’s going on.
Pictures and souvenirs of your life (your journey) are likely to be collected.
The trick with this degree is to throw your self into life, reach out for all sorts
of adventures and, most of all, enjoy the journey! Observing life.
Foreign territories. Seeing how other people live. Timing, being on time.
Watching from afar. The untried and untrodden or the same old road.
    UFOS and aliens.

The Caution: Feelings of naivety and gullibility. Feeling like an alien even in
familiar surroundings. Getting out of one’s depth. Separation anxiety.
    Inability to concentrate."

The Sabian Symbol for the Sun today is
Libra 14: IN THE HEAT OF THE NOON, A PERSON TAKES A SIESTA

This Symbol speaks of taking a rest when one needs to. At times,
you may feel the need to take a break even though you are in the middle
of a situation. To relax and recuperate will often serve to give you
greater strength to complete the task at hand, also, being always on
the go can be rather wearying. However, being lazy and unproductive
is not the answer either. Taking a “Noon Siesta” can end up meaning
taking hours and hours off work and not managing to make progress
or get anywhere. Striking a balance between working too hard and not
working hard enough is definitely the key. Knowing when to stop.
Daydreams and fantasies. Meditation. Midday rushes. Snoozing.
Hammocks. Long lunch hours. Rejuvenation and the need for it.
    Taking breaks.

The Caution: Wasting time. Disinterested. Losing energy or interest when
at the peak of activity or achievement OR refusing to take a break.
    Dropping from exhaustion."

( Posted as i know there is some interest here in Sabian Symbols)

Thought those two words would exaggerate the polarity ...two famous media clichés...which are constantly being used to capture attention...
also to avoid all ideas of either creation of life (gender related, ie sex) or destruction of life (violence) to leave it to the readers to examine their internal response, independently of language associations.
Hence I was really hoping to come up with a term that would be free from any association with either extreme, something very, very impartial. I'm now thinking more of blending, or mixing....deliberately non-poetic, words that would never manipulate any emotion so that the image can speak for itself.
There is no neutral term. ‘Merge’ certainly isn’t neutral. Highways (artificial constructs) merge, and so do corporations (fictitious entities claiming moral and even real person status). So language is going to let us down however hard we try. And emotion doesn’t even necessarily come into it at all. We talk of parent companies (in French of mother and daughters) in situations totally devoid of any human feeling.

The image itself does likewise. It is an artist’s impression based on a number of snapshots of different galaxies at different stages in a process of coming together that takes millions of years. There is no guarantee that some part of the process is not incorrect, maybe the film is running backwards at some point, and then we are back with deceptive narrative. You can reconstruct an egg on film by playing it backwards, but you still have to mop the floor.

Possibly the only way we humans can relate to an event of such magnitude in time and space is to view it in terms that are familiar to us. The death scenario is the usual one, the birthing scenario I don’t think I’ve seen before, but if you have, then all to the good. The constant bursting out of new life strikes me as being consistent with the notion of ongoing creation of which human reproduction can only give a woefully inadequate idea. There are also things to back up my statement.

First, the astronomer Tom van Flandern describes a theoretical mothering process whereby stars process planets in pairs: they emerge in opposite directions out of the star’s own material. He also suggests that planets behave similarly in producing moons, with smaller planets producing just one. (The likely artificial status of the Moon is probably irrelevant to this argument). If this were to be so, then logically, on the next higher scale up, galaxies might well do likewise. You can either see this as an anthropomorphic projection, or on the contrary as an astronomical template for the animal reproductive system.

Secondly, if you take Gaia as a living conscious entity (we do, don’t we?), and suns also – they are sublogoi of the galactic logos, to use Law of One terminology (although we are wary of channeled information!), a galaxy is the higher conscious being that takes care of our Sun and Earth and ultimately ourselves. It is the top of our family tree, and so there is nothing wrong in tracing some slight family resemblance. It produces a sense of oneness with the universe in a way that the opposite approach, via the violent scenario, does not.

But we are still operating within the finite, where duality rules. Galaxies are finite, just like us, and infinite, just like us.

I’d like to ‘marry’ this discussion, if I may, with the other one, on writing. For me, language is metaphorical, language is metaphor. To use a different one, you rub two (or more) ideas together and you obtain a spark of understanding.

My thoughts on the modern novel were far too incomplete, but they at least gave some idea of the paranormal things that begin to happen when the tale starts wagging the dog
One important notion theorized by postwar writers was to undermine the authority of the author figure (here we refer to the Ego). Roland Barthes even wrote an influential essay called ‘The Death of the Author’. There were practical experiments going on in creative writing workshops (this was long before the Internet) that came up against the problem of clashing Egos.

This forum, and especially the Village, is working towards finding a solution to collective creative writing that avoids the clash of Egos, i.e. by looking after each other first, rather than imposing our own views. We all contribute our differently coloured tiles to the evolving mosaic, hence the magic fairytale element. In other words, the medium is the message, and the message is love. Obviously this cannot be conceived in terms of the sex-violence duality, for in those terms it would be something like total promiscuity
