Default How should I dispose of this stuff?

I urged my husband to stop taking his depression medication. Along with 2 tubes of fluoride toothpaste I found earlier, how should I dispose of them? I'm worried about this stuff getting into the water supply. Thank you in advance.

Congratulations on waking up and understanding the nature of these poisons to destroy your intellect.
If it was me, I would drop off the meds at a local pharmacy or drug store.
As for the toothpaste, even though it is toxic waste
It probably could be dropped off at the same drug store for waste disposal.

If you really wish to make a visual statement, wear one of these suits
when you enter the drug store to drop off the toxic waste they sold you.

Thank you. I've actually been awake for awhile, but I'm just now getting rid of the poisons. I guess better late than never. That's a really great idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that. Of course that makes me wonder though what would they end up doing with it? I guess that may be my only option unless someone else has a better solution. Haha I would wear one of those if I could get my hands on one.

tooth paste can be thrown in the environment.
There is natural fluoride in the environment and it will dilute to nothing. The problem in much higher concentration in our drinking water.

medication: antiderpessant have to be stopped very slowly in a step by step approach. those are potent stuff and the chemistry of the brain won't be able to take over that fast.

so full medication, one day, 1/2 the second day, for a few months, then 1/2 every day, few months, then 1/2 every second day few months and on and on, it can take a good year. This is not medical advice but a description of what I have done for myself. And yes, I was on a roller coaster the full year.

I don't know about that...I read that the fluoride found in most toothpastes is much different from the fluoride found in nature. Also if the toothpaste fluoride is bad for humans wouldn't it be just as bad for the Earth? Maybe I have it wrong. I don't know. With the medication, he stopped it immediately and had no mood swings whatsoever. He hasn't taken it in over 6 months and hasn't had any since. I do think it would have been a good idea if he would have gotten off of it slowly though.

If the toothpaste is unopened, perhaps you could donate it to a homeless shelter or food bank. I'm sure there are people who would be grateful and not consider it a personal assault. The pills is a tough one, though. My husband had cancer and after he departed his mortal coil I was left with a bunch of medications. I was told to flush them because they would go trough much purification process before being returned to the drinking water, but I now believe there is no absolute way to eliminate what is in them. Perhaps dissolve in water, pour onto newspapers, dry newspapers, burn.

They are unopened, but it's poison and I wouldn't be any better than the government if I did. The newspaper idea sounds like a pretty good idea to me though. I will most likely do that.

Anyone considering following in the OP's footsteps please heed this advice. This is NO JOKE. I seriously can't stress this enough. Going cold turkey on mood stabilizers is a recipe for serious manic behavior and a trip to the psyche ward.

This actually happened to a stand up comedian lately.

Water purification will not eliminate drugs from the water and who ever said so is quite ill informed.

In order to fully elimiate these dangerous chemicals they must be incinerated. Many hospitals dispose of all meds this way these days. They should be separated out of other wastes and sent to an incineration facility. You would have to ask at a pharmacy just how they dispose of their meds for I am not sure that they incinerate them and you would be getting nowhere if they just throw them down the toilet also.

Not all facilities do this yet. I had to educate the facility that I worked in for we were dumping tons of drugs down the toilet until I did so. A little research brought to us exactly how to do it. This was 6 years ago... so Im not yet convinced that all medical facilities or pharmacies are yet doing it correctly. Bring the issue up with your hospital and pharmacy. Go to the city planning board and insist that they insist that hospitals and other medical facilities including clinics and nursing homes to have all their drug waste professionally incinerated

Good for you, thinking of the water supply! Another reason to drink only distilled water you make at home. God only knows what 's in our water supply, well him and the people who poison it.

Do NOT jump off antidepressants cold turkey. Recipe for a nervous breakdown.

Do you honestly think the two tubes of toothpaste will make any difference? If you are that concerned, use your energy to campaign against water fluoridation in your community. It is only the fluoride that we swallow that is really of concern.

That's exactly what I was thinking, better have some healthy mood foods, and a dose of daily exercise and sunlight to help with that. I'd take at least two weeks to wean off, and watch myself closely. I personally went off cold turkey once and was fine but I was only on them for a short time and I wouldn't expect that was a typical result.

Also, if things do get rough, there's a few good non-drug supplements that can help with mood stabilization: Inositol (a B vitamin-like molecule), and 5-HTP / Tryfonia (which is an extract of Griffonia seed -- the latter one works similar to some anti-depressants, but still allows your own body to do the serotonin regulation).

If in doubt get advice from certified naturopathic doctor.
