Default One Step Beyond and The Sacred Mushroom

How about a little psychedelic history this evening?

I stumbled upon this today as I was watching those old One Step Beyond films.. a wiki search told me about the little aired episode called the Sacred Mushroom so I went looking for it on youtube and there it was.

One Step Beyond hosted by John Newland aired in the 60's
They did short stories about mysterious events in regular peoples lives that are in the psychic or spiritual phenomena arena. I was glued to this program when I was a kid believing evey word of it even though my mom said it was just stories. The makers of the films calm them to be authenitc experiences. 22 episodes are available on netfix.

Newland and his team of scientists did a film where they traveled to Mexico, Oaxaca, to explore the use of mushrooms by Shamans. The film is a document of their journey and what they did afterwards. The episode was never syndicated on TV due to its controversial content. They never did tell what kind of mushroom it was but it looks like the common psilocybin found in Mexico... hard to say for sure on this old black and white film

this page will give more detailed account of the excursion to Oaxaca and the meetings with the Shamans and the use of Sacred Mushrooms.. via A. Pucharich and this account is from his wife. It includes and interesting story of psychic surgery.

quite a story. thanks for this oportunity to again think differently. This wife comes across to me as totally selfish about what she wanted and not that much into research and study for the good of humanity. sort of all so boring and distracting to my life.

Well, in my opinion, the magic mushrooms really do enhance psychic ability.

During my spiritual pursuit of knowledge, I have encountered and used cubensis mushrooms, and they definitely do open up new worlds.

I would encourage anyone, wishing to find truth and gain more spiritual insight into themselves, to seriously consider gaining some of these mushrooms and discovering the magic of the power they do give you.

    On a cautionary note.

Mushrooms are potent and have a very powerful kick to them, when taken in high doses.
No one has ever died from an overdose of magic mushrooms, but like all experiences you have to have some foreknowledge before consuming them.

For folks wishing to gain further insight, I would suggest you visit " the shroomery" which is a website where folks that enjoy the relhm of magic mushrooms congregate for fellowship and interaction.

They offer techniques for how to grow them, and the procedures of how to ingest them.

Mushrooms definitely open your awareness and consciousness to a higher dimension of thinking. The image below is a kind of representation of how your vision sees things sometimes while under the affects of mushrooms.

I periodically enjoy using cubensis mushrooms to help ground me, as a medicine to enhance my other senses past the original 5.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

Arrowwind, search for The Pharmacratic Inquisition, an amateur video that reveals lots of information about religion, mushrooms, and funny Pope clothes. Very interesting, if poorly done.

Back in the late 60's I read a book called the Sacred Mushroom and The Cross... which linked the use of mushrooms to Christian practices... It had an Aminita Muscaria on the cover and I wondered about that. Ive never found any actual instructions for using that Aminita mushroom and I understand, from first hand experience that it can be quite dangerous. I came upon it while camping in the forst outside of Boulder Colorado when I was actually doing an LSD trip. Taking Aminita along with the LSD brought into me the trip that never ended as my mental faculty never returned to normal.. not still tripping but certainly altered.. until 4 months later I came across someone who helped me out of it. Aminita caused me to flunk out of my first semister of college as I couldnt focus on anything till I got straighened out and the cure was actually an MDA adventure. I found MDA to bring the most exhaulted spiritual revelation...it was not the 'love' drug that I later found out it to be called. Anyway, it cured my lack of ability to focus that Aminita caused and school went well enough after that. It also opened doors of perception that to this day have not fully closed... I guess that I would say that it made the veils between the worlds a bit thinner.

anyway, Ive been looking further about Andrija Puharich, and finding some wild information on his life interests and works. Seems that some of what he has done may certianly have transgressed in to the shady world of mind control and less than desirable ethics.... according to this writer certainly a question regarding ethics in medical treatment. Seems he spent some time working at Bellevue Hospital which certainly has a reputation for horrific treatments over the years for the psych patient. If you wanted to tell a tale of terror when I was a kid living in New York State a tale from Bellevue would eventually come round... anyway the following page is a lead to the authors book about Puharich, which I have not read... but this article in and of itsself is quite interesting. Clearly there are considerable attempts out there to discredit Putarich ... either people defend him or discredit him. There seems to be an agenda and an interest in pushing peoples opinion in one direction or another. My question is Why? which leads me to thinking that a coverup is going on... of course this is nothing new regarding this man...just new to me...

    Scientific classification
    Cubenis mushrooms

these look a bit different that what I have seen growing in Mexico, those being smaller with a very slender stalk but a type of psilocybin none the less. These are often grown in the US and I have seen them many times when in lived in Orgeon back in the early 80's.
