Dennis, can you briefly explain what is the job description of a mod?

- How long were you one?
- Do you have to train?
- Does it require technological skill/training?
- What kind of time commitment does it take?
- Do mods have a short life span being a mod because of the responsibility to deal with so many personalities?
- What percentage of people would you say didn't respect your decisions? Are they mostly repeat offenders?
- Were there many paid infiltrators on the forum?
- What if you are not interested in a thread, do you still monitor it?
- Did you ever run into a problem with someone that has authority issues?
- Are you expected to log in a certain number of hours?
- How important is it for the community to be a part of reporting of
- Have you ever had to give a 10 day vacation to someone?
- Did the new people stay in close contact with you for support?

Interesting questions .

• People have been mods for a few weeks to years.
• You can go more or less active, or return to normal membership, anytime you want.
• Hours are totally at the mods whim, from zero hours to lots (such as myself.)
• Mods get to do which ever tasks interest them, and ignore the rest.
• The mods mostly communicate via a Skype text chat group, and via posts and threads on specific matters, kept in a sub-forum not visible to others.
• Some get more into the technical details of thread and post merging and editing, and some don't.
• A major task that involves most mods is reviewing the applications of prospective new members.
• A few mods routinely check the Reported posts or incoming email to staff, though more often it is myself checking the Reports, and Ilie checking the email.
• No mods have died yet, but I cannot promise eternal life to all past and present mods.
• We don't know who's a paid infiltrator -- no one has ever raised their hand and acknowledged being one.
• If a mod isn't interested in a thread, or would rather not deal with a member, they let someone else worry about it.

Being a mod is entirely volunteer, so we can only appreciate what mods choose to do, not demand something else or more of them, and it's important to keep the "back room" a pleasant place to drop by.

A major benefit of being a mod is the ongoing contact, on a more frequent basis, with some of the neatest people I've ever known, scattered about the world, of quite diverse natures, but all with considerable talents of one kind or another.

I was asked to be a mod in another forum and being the wimp I am (with a family and demanding workload) passed.

We should *always* take a moment to thank these people who graciously add quality to our forum lives.

I have no recollection whatsoever of doing that.

Can you remember in which context?

It was, of course, tongue-in-cheek, and a playful way of dealing with all the talk of banning that was going on at that time and just before (I think I was a mod back then, and there was lots of forum talk about banning, lots of energy given to it, but really only a handful of people banned.)

But I'll take this opportunity to say to Bill:

Hey Bill, this thread may be good for the occasional snippet from you about what's going on in your local sphere, without the attendance and follow-up "pressure" of starting a thread. (This is more casual.) You're a very interesting person (two pots of coffee, at least hahahahah), and it would be good to hear from you in this venue.

Yes, most people around here hate sports as being the world of the 'absolute fake' in which “imitations don't merely reproduce reality, but try to improve on it.” (Umberto Eco) to quote a sentence I am just reading. From this standpoint, your vid is a collection of glitches, which is why we laugh. But many don't realize that this is not at all what sport is all about. They should try doing some.

I have some kind of bite on my foot, probably spider, me being the barefoot gardener that i am..

My foot and ankle is swollen, but no pain. Drinking MMS, and also applying topically with DSM,
just in case. Feel fine though , more than fine, just have a puffy and numb foot.

Interesting too, as yesterday i was working with a client who was trapped in a dark web
of fairly powerful darker entities, took quite a bit to clear her. This group literally had
her constantly in a state of confusion and running in circles. I checked in with her earlier
today and she sounds totally different, she was telling me that she spent the day cleaning
her house from top to bottom, which is a great sign that the clearing worked.
As within so without, etc..so fingers crossed that things stay that way.

My new office set up is amazing, the space itself is even informing my work, already i have
been finding new and more effective ways of working. This would normally be the lounge room
in the house and its a largish room. So have the space to see face to face clients also.

I even have a reading corner which means i will actually get through my pile of books.
I have been reading in bed and i only end up falling asleep after a few pages.

So 2013, so far is looking mighty fine.. thanks no doubt in part to that fire "ritual"
gotta love those happy accidents. But of course there is no such thing as an accident,
well not IMO anyways...

araucaria, I noted your perspective, posted elsewhere (can't remember which thread) where you see the benefits of participating in sports. Good perspective. I suspect that most of us that don't watch or pay any attention to sports are rejecting the culture of passively watching sports, sports drama, and sports hero worship. If (amateur) participants in sports are not caught up in or deluded by the trappings of sport, I can see how it is good for body, mind, and soul.

Occam’s Razor Moment - Is a line of reasoning that says the simplest answer is often correct.

This is a goal of mine. (still a work in progress)
