For met ATM I am very new to understanding anything other than what was taught to me, rather than what I sought to learn. So for my OBE experience, I am very in experienced. I have had one very potent OBE that I recall. Short OBE's are good for starters because they allow one to remember or recall the experience. As for the layers of the dream world, there are three layers...

And I quote: This is from the Astal Dynamics book, and I have only read the first chapter tonight!

"In a nutshell, during an OBE the mind splits into copies that operate simultaneously - the physical body/mind, the projected body/mind, and the dream body/mind. This complexity causes many problems during re-integration, when the physical body/mind awakens and three separate memory streams for the same time period must form a single memory. Habitual beliefs and memory processes, and your higher self, have a lot to do with the resulting memory, or the lack of one. Understanding this concept, and how to work with it and around it, it crucial for successful OBE."

Hope this clears up some questions you may have. It surely makes me aware of more than I knew, and the more I learn, the more I see I have to learn. I hope I can manage to make enough time to learn as much as I can while still in the physical body/mind. (before I leave this place).

    Nice thread,

Considering OBE's i've had them all my life. Started in very young age as purely unconscious act. Through that time i had very interesting experiences.
World in OBE state is not static and material, its changing with peception .. so i knew to visit same places in past and see them in future also.
Funny thing is its not always reliable information collected out of body as i could grasp. There was few times ive visited my part of city in not too distant future and saw it exactly how its now. I shared that description with friends mother which was into Sai Baba (she loved to listen about OBE's) .. She's kinda stunned by that description even today. Sometimes id get reliable information and sometimes not very interesting one. And that was all part of unconscious travels.
Soon i realised there is more to that than just coincidence and i started to practice leaving body on my will, not just accidentaly.
And i managed to discover that part of the play without too much problems, simply i would lie down and start to feel vibrations from top of my fingers on hands and legs, soon that vibration spreads and i could feel something like two vibrations, and as soon that happens i get up, but my material body stays in bed, and rest is play.

    Now comes interesting part
As soon i started to do it on conscious i got the warning not to do it on conscious! Warning came from all directions to me but i didnt care much.
Few times after that knowing i went OBE and first thing i would see is a silouette lurking at me. He actually never did anything nor tryed to contact me. That was weird cause i never seen that entity before and when in OBE state i simply knew that i should not get too much involved with that entity cause he doesnt care as we do for life and play. Few times i politely asked him to go, leave me... but without any response from him. As he was monitoring my actions and expecting that i do something so he can act. With time i stopped doing OBE explorations, and is very similar to DeDukshyn description:
Quote it had been stripped from my memory. now that I am getting some recall into this phenomenon, can vaguely recall someone visited me once - astrally - while I was doing this and told me to never do it again -I can't recall the exact details, or the exact agreement made, but to this day I cannot astral travel despite being able to "separate" my astral vibrations from my physical ones.
I got somekind of blockade but really reminds me more to somekind of agreement described from DeDukshyn, one slight difference is that i still can reach to leave my body but that monitoring presence is what doesnt give me much peace at exploration.
It is more like ultimatum .. dont do that and youre ok typo agreement
Be careful when wandering in the woods... The wolf may approach you... And if you are approached by a solitary wolf... It is not a wolf at all!

I don't think my home is anywhere near here and at the same time is all around us. This is a very interesting place, and I feel like I am meant to be here for something. I can just take each day, study, seek, and live a life of integrity and honor.
That distills beautifully what so many of us here feel. Love your simplicity and directness. We are here, embrace it with all you've got to offer. We aren't going anywhere, not up or down. We start right where we are and bring home here. One day we WILL understand.

I was thinking about this today. I do not hear nor see my spirit guide(s). I believe I have one; call it a guardian angel, my higher Self, or what you will. Nonetheless, I haven't made contact. Perhaps I haven't tried diligently enough. Do you guys think it's possible that we entered a "pre-birth contract" with our spirit guide? Here's an example. Albeit I consider myself very blessed and fortunate, I have difficulty asking for help. I am so headstrong that I'll just tackle any challenge and keep at it until I make some headway (after that I tend to just set it aside ... not finishing things I start is a weakness of mine). Anyways, I was wondering if maybe whilst making the "game-plan" for this life I told my spirit guide—"Hey, I got this. No need for direct communication; synchronicities at the most. I want to figure this out on my own". Then, I just dove in! Haha, I hope this isn't the case!

Please, spirit guide(s) or whoever you are help me in the name of benevolence and love!

Maybe, your spirit guides are telling you to stop because somehow it wasn't part of the plan for you in this life? Like cutting corners while working out your karma or something. Maybe, having an OBE and being able to astral project would change your life in such a way as to reduce the probabilities of you encountering the circumstances necessary to work out the karma that you previously set out to engage in this life. Sounds possible? What do y'all think? This might just be my elaborate attempt to explain away those "sour" grapes that I haven't been able to reach (...yet!).

"Non physical dimensions are levels of existence at a higher frequency than the known physical universe. It could be said that these levels exist at an angle of perception that we cannot normally perceive, an angle beyond 3-d. Just as different types of energies-light, gravity, x-ray, heat, microwave, etc. - can occupy the same space at the same time, so these different dimensional levels coexist, undetectable by the five senses."

"When dealing with the astral dimension, you cannot simple point and say, "there is the astral dimension!" Although the astral dimension permeates the physical universe, it is for the greater part non spatial. Doorways to the astral exist everywhere and nowhere, both inside an outside of the human mind."

I have felt these vibrations... and they are accelerating more and more as I learn to meditate... Sometimes I feel them with out meditating, and simply just thinking on something with strong emotions behind the thought. But, I leaned that the most effect I had experienced is when I meditate this. Although for some reason I am scared... cause it is very intense. In steps I need to do this.

    Say alienHunter . . . .

Are you taking the piss . . . ( or just sizing me up for a Men in Black body bag) ?

Edit: Sorry, you didn't get me. No . . . . mine is a buzzing feeling in the ears together with a dizzy feeling. If I relax I come out of my body (local) but if I "throw" myself out (expand), then I end up in weird places . . . . sorry, really thought you were taking the mickey ....
I just got back to this post...the only time I've heard that expression was when a guy from Belgium was defending me against a guy from South Africa (originally from Hungary) I had an inkling but wasn't sure.

    Heya Vivek - cool post

I used to be able to do it (OOBE) pretty easily as a teen. Have read Monroe's book but I learned more from one that may not be quite so well known today. Lobsang T. Rampa's "You Forever". (He covers the whole kaboodle: Astral Projection, clairvoyance, Akashic Record, Telepathy, the Etheric, Auras etc.

I used to lay down flat on my back (apparently is best if you're head is North and feet South-aligned - altho managed it without doing this), light clothing and arms hands down to your side. Concentrate on your breathing and relax with a bit of pre-med of your intention. It's like dropping off to sleep but staying awake - if that makes any sense. I became aware of a light floaty sensation - and then a "rush"... a "Zoooooom" with intense feeling of everything being electrified and incredible speed.

I'd liken it to the ENTERPRISE going into Warp. Where you think, you ARE . I could go through walls, fly, instantly be wherever I wanted and yet everything is eerily incandescent... A couple of times I got "stuck" coming back and my body felt like lead - like it wasn't connected - I guess some people would call that sleep paralysis. (Haven't seen a silver cord or looked at myself yet).

I could clearly hear voices far away and even set up an experiment with a friend, we both agreed whoever "got out" first would come visit the other.

Well I managed it first, had never actually visited his house but just by concentrating on him, I was there, in his room. He was reading a book and looked up - straight at me. Only lasted a few seconds tho. Next day I was able to tell him in detail what was in his room, what he was doing and looking straight at me. He freaked! He said it had felt like "something or someone was there".... (hmmm like seeing a ghost).

When I did get to actually visit him for real I was quite shocked to see his room exactly as I'd seen it.

One of the last times I achieved it, some years further on, the experience was really weird - scary in fact. As I was getting into the initial "floaty sensation", I felt what could be called hands lightly pressing on my body although I couldn't see anything. Something or someone (like the proverbial voice in my head) was saying "No, you don't want to do this right now... look over there..." I saw the most horrible looking "thing" I've seen and it reeked of pure evil. It looked like some kind of demon you'd see in a horror flick - very draconian/reptilian-looking with glowing eyes standing very near me in a full cloak holding some kind of staff or stick. Whoa,.. snapped out of it with a real fright and never really tried it again after that.

The last time it happened was spontaneous. I'd spent the whole of a rainy afternoon and very late night reading Queen of the Damned, third book in the "Interview with a Vampire" series. (Such a great read, couldn't put it down till I finished

Anyways, went off to bed and within a short time, almost asleep, "something" was climbing in the bed with me. Today I'd put that down as an Incubus/sucubus experience! LOL. Felt VVVERery real. It wasn't scary but very sexual. (Gonna stop on the details of that one now).

All the other times - with the exception of the scary entity - were amazing little "journeys". (I could never seem to stay out more than about 20-30 mins at a time)
