My Dream and Major Coastal Event

This is a dream I had last week that still remains vivid in my mind.

My husband and I are in a van-type vehicle driving south down the Oregon or California Coast (from the landscape, most likely California). He was driving, I was in the back passenger seat.

As we came over a hill, I could see before us a bridge over a river that flows into the sea. I could see the road before us. As we approached the bridge the ocean swelled to enormous heights and filled the river valley and swept us along back up river.

As we floated in the dark I kept repeating "God is with me" over and over, I knew I could die. While I was huddled down in the dark, still repeating the phrase, I noted that I was not wet above the ankles. We could see nothing but could feel the motion of the water pushing us up into the river chanel.

I then felt a sideways motion contrary to the current. We were being towed to the shore. We exited the van with it drug up on the river bank. Someone threw a gray blanket around me and I shook violently for quite awhile. My husband walked off to find something or see someone and Left me to tend a kitten.

For a dream, this was a long episode with minute to minute cohesion. I must note that we don't now have a van, we did 40 years ago. I don't have a kitten but kittens come in my dreams as a symbol of my childlike self and self preservation.

Well, to analyze such dreams you have to separate and define its symbolic elements.

Turbulence, overwhelming powerlessness, being rescued and comforted, to be given the responsibility to take care of other fragile being...What does it all mean to you?

Remember anything that marked you or your marriage happening 40 years ago? Maybe a marital crisis, possibly involving the responsibility to take care of young kids?

The subconscious mind uses dreams to give you useful hints on how to solve a current problem; Maybe something happened 40 years ago and you´re still feeling the consequences of it; Or maybe you managed to get out of a difficult situation 40 years ago and you need to evoke such experience to fix something happening now.

Anyway, dreams are very individual. Only you have the power to interpret your own dreams accurately.

The inundation of water theme often relates to emotional energy.
My personal take on what has occurred recently in the world, and is quite visible in this forum, is our individual reactions to
a tidal wave of energy that is either hitting us from the outside, or inside. I prefer the later idea, because it takes the importance off of
all the galactic radiation talk and focuses on what we are doing with our own thoughts, emotions, actions etc.
If this event occurred in real life, there would be many sudden deaths probably including yours, and yet you are saved by some sort of invisible
"outside" force. The actual result was a refocusing of attention from either your husband, or the aspect of yourself that is symbolized by his image, onto your inner emotional processes.
If you want to apply this imagery to the emotional environment of the forum, well there has certainly been a large amount of energy hitting us all. There is a lot of analyzing going on, and expounding of theories about what has happened, (the husband) and some people are shifting towards dealing with the raw unqualified spiritual enrgy that is calling for our attention.
Thing is now matter how you slice it , the forum has been energized and alerted, we have many of us reading and posting more, and some not liking the result and taking a break.
We are carrying on, and making adjustsments in our relationships.

Since dreams are highly symbolic in nature, that means 2 things:

[1] the best person to decode it is you, since you created it and part of your consciousness will know why

[2] whatever it's significance is, it's not that your going to end up in a flood

Usually with such lucid dreams, when you reflect for a while, you're able to tie it in with your conscious day to day life. For example, I often dream that I'm going up in a lift in a building. The lift keeps on going, punching through the roof and keeps going up into the sky. I absolutely sh*t myself because the lift door is open and I can see the city way down below.

WHen I stop and think about it the next day, I can start to see how it relates to certain aspects of my life that started off with some mundane commitment that later went way beyond its anticipated scope and started to overwhelm me (in my case it was a software project I was working on).

That's how utterly different our dreams are from the associated mental states which they express - but very handy tools all the same when it comes to helping you square your sense of yourself.

I have driven that coast a few times, Beautiful. It never hurts to be prepared. If your dream comes true at least there is a kitten. I dream quiet allot and find most of the truth in my dreams is metaphorical rather than literal. Elements of your dream may have personal meaning like "kittens come in my dreams as a symbol of my childlike self and self preservation." There are allot of powerful details even in the short description given. Ring a few bells it does but in an abstract way. Thank you for sharing.

Really good pointers on looking at dreams of ones own or others Ipete. Really like your one two.
Looking up dream symbols in a dream dictionary only helps to jog the associations.
There have been some exceptions in my experience. This one concerning my idea about large amounts of water.

I was living in Seattle and was concerned about earthquakes , tidal waves etc.
Then I had a dream where there was hundreds of feet of water over puget sound and the surrounding area with humpbacks and Orcas swimming around, which should have been a fairly enjoyable experience if it weren't for the fear of drowning, being crushed by water pressure etc that came from the feeling that that was actually happening to a physical human body.
When I relayed this dream to a friend at work, they said it meant I was overwhelmed and I really clearly got that the water was all the emotions I felt smothered by at the time.
I wound up bailing on Seattle, and moved to Mt Shasta where I was out of the mass consciousness of a huge city, and was living in the midst of reincarnated Angels and Aliens, there was even a couple in that town that were believed to be the reincarnations of Jesus and Mary. LOL
So I got a chance to re-evaluate what sort of belief systems and individuals I was going to spend my time with, and whether it was the energy of the area, or just the fact that I took a big risk, and experienced something I had been curious about for a long time, it was easier for me to make decisions and see some of my choice patterns, and how they worked.

This living in a specific area and getting frantic about future cataclysms had happened before, and I can remember if I posted about it in here, but if I did it was a couple years ago.
It was L.A., and I was doing a lot of clearing with a Dianetic trained facilatator who had left the actual organization and was operating a part time practice in the area.
Well I woke up in the morning one day, very anxious that I was going to be stuck living in L.A. when the earth changes hit, and I had a date, a year for the catastrophe. The year this occurred was 1984/85, and the date that was coming to me was 1988.
So in the dianetic practice, you usually are working on an incident from the past, and the first step is too pinpoint an exact date and location for the tramatic incident in order to blow an intitial amount of charge , and allow an entry point into further recall and clearing of the incident.
So I was not getting any other year other than 88, when the facilatator asked, is it Two Thousand and Eighty Eight?
Well that was all it took any and all charge I had imeadiately dispersed, and the worst thing that happened after that concerning the whole thing was feeling rather sheepish about freaking out over california falling into the ocean.
A large side effect of this experience has been the awareness around dire predictions premonitions etc, that The worst that can happen is I will die or get injured.
And what I really am, a being who exists independantly of my body, the civilization I am part of , and time itself will still be what it always has been.
So whenever I or somebody else has what seems to be a premonition of a dire future event, I almost assume that it isn't that , and that is especially true if it is a dream.

there will be a 9.0 seaquake off the coast of Oregon that will last for five minutes ...this event has always stuck in my mind like glue. Ptaah has been right too many times, I hope we as a collective can avert this event ...there is no good in destruction and death and panic of the people... we need the rest of society to come into their power and start creating the reality they want , instead of settling for less ... my dreams are always in peru on a mountain side , I fly down an old road that has shrubs grown over it and a man from peru in his twenties flies right by me on my left much faster than I move, he is at a higher level of astral projection than me ...silly me I keep trying to do something with my body and in the astral realm you use your mind, not the body ...the topography of Peru is so beautiful and ancient, so many colors and so green, and so many trees, I want to physically go there one day before I leave this world ...

I had one a year or so ago where I was walking down a street (in LA I think) holding a little girls hand. I saw a clock similar to Big Ben start breaking in pieces and falling off a building. I looked down and saw cracks opening up everywhere with vehicles falling in them. I kept trying to run with the girl to find a part of the street that was stable. All of a sudden I was rising above the street, then the buildings & as I kept rising I could see the city disappear into the ocean. Soon I could see the whole earth as I looked down on it. I realized my body must have died as I was rising because I wasn't scared anymore, and I knew I would be seeing my parents, daughter and other loved ones soon.

3 days before that minor (well very large actually) quake near Massey Canada (late last year),
I had a dream about a tsunami. the quake generated a very small one.

i wish more useful dreams would come.

incidentally my dream tsunami was 14 feet tall, roughly the height of the wave generated by Sandy that hit the 1WTC construction site and filled it with water.

Hi Heartsong, just stumbled across your thread, and as it so happens I posted this dream in a different thread a couple hours ago. I'm loathe to post the same thing twice on the forum, but it certainly fits in with your dream too, along with others. Here it is:

I was eating at one of those all around windowed restaurants on top of a skyscraper, about 50 stories. One side overlooked the water which was maybe a mile or so away, and the customers began murmuring and pointing that direction. When I looked, there was a huge wave forming on the horizon, and coming towards us. It came crashing in just like a tsunami, and swept right through the city streets below. Everybody was like HOLY S**t!!!".

Atleast we were safe being so high up thank God, but just then a second wave was already forming far out, it was bigger, and it was coming in strong as well. When this one came through, it swept right over the top of a 30 story building right across the street. Now it's getting serious...We're witnessing widespread devastion, and possibly amongst only the few survivors.

Then sure enough, a third one starts looming on the horizon, and it's even bigger still. Now it's our turn, and nothing to do but watch it, and wait to die. It crashed through all 49 stories of our building, leaving only our top floor unscathed. Even though we were dry, the building was shaking so violently it felt like it was going to come down, and I thought about the towers on 9/11.

Well it didn't come down, and at this point I figured it was time to make a run for it. Through the flukes of dreams I was able to get down to the street, but while trying to figure out what to do or where to go, the fourth wave was already coming. There was nothing to do, too late. It was like watching a mountain coming in.

Thank you for all of your replies. I have taken some time in analyzing the dream.
It could be on two levels.
One coming from a level of fear that it would actually happen to me and my husband.

The second that it would happen but we would still be impacted.

We live 50 miles inland from the Oregon Coast. My husband is a Red Cross Disaster Volunteer (delivering food, supervising shelters) and he would naturally leave me to go into service with a disaster so close. I always need to stiffen my back and care of myself take care of myself when he leaves.

So, I hope this isn't a prophetic dream. Just my brain working things out.
