    Polly’s* latest:

How it's looking like now from Las Puntas de La Frontera:

For the last 10 days, it now shows whatever Polly is up to as far as seismic activity is concerned:

    GPS solutions from IGN

    GPS Stations location:

Location of the EQs in the last 15 days:

    * : Polly was so named from the “polycephalic snake” look of the initial cumulative energy graph (see post # 327).
The name became most appropriate when the eruption from multiple mouths/vents/cones/heads started to develop.

    Strongest so far (no data):

    For the day:

Frequencies spectrogram, the vertical streaks indicate “events” (tremors/EQs) whereas the horizontal ones reflect volcanic/magmatic activity:
Quote From Wikipedia: A Harmonic tremor is a sustained release of seismic and/or infrasonic energy typically associated with the underground movement of magma and/or venting of volcanic gases from magma. Being a long-duration continuous signal from a temporally extended source, a volcanic tremor contrasts distinctly with transient sources of seismic radiation, such as tremors that are typically associated with earthquake and explosion.

    SEISMIC CRISIS SPECIAL - 03/18/2013 (16:25 pm)

"El Hierro experienced an important seismic reactivation ''

Sergio Gutierrez, Valverde (18.03.2013. 16:25 hours. Updated at 17:50)

Seismic activity in El Hierro appears to have experienced a revival on Monday, March 18, and already recorded on the island 30 earthquakes of magnitude between 1.9 and 2.6 [2.8] on the Richter scale, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN ) collected by DAILY HIERRO. The seismic data offered are equal or greater than 1.5 magnitude on Richter scale.

The increase is significant on Monday after several weeks where seismic activity has been virtually no or very low, with just one or two earthquakes. From Sunday, March 17, the number of earthquakes has increased considerably.

Earthquakes recorded on Monday in El Hierro has begun to be located, the vast majority in the northwest and west of the municipality of La Frontera and southwest of El Pinar, and have occurred after 00:00 pm until 15 : 11 hours on, Monday, March 18.

It is also striking that since 14:25 pm today, the number of earthquakes occurred almost every two or three minutes. The largest of the earthquakes recorded so far was 2.6 [2.8] magnitude on the Richter scale.

For the moment, and according to the IGN, no earthquake has been felt by the population. The depth where earthquakes have been located has ranged between 21 and 2 miles.

Seems like the El Hierro magma-mattress under El Hierro (see post # 2517, by analogy to "waterbed") keeps being inflated:

Graphic taken from the Frontera [GPS] station. Involcan.

    SEISMIC CRISIS SPECIAL - 03/18/2013 (20:54 pm)
This is provided by the FRONTERA GPS STATION
Involcan confirms the 'swelling' trend of El Hierro

They claim that the number of earthquakes will ''clearly'' increase in the coming hours as the signals are analyzed. According to Involcan, this episode is the most energetic since last September, "although this will vary significantly with the passing hours.''

Sergio Gutierrez, Valverde (18.03.2013. 20:54 pm)
The latest data received from the Canaria Geodetic Network GPS station installed in Frontera, shows that the tendency to swelling of the island is confirmed. So say the Volcanological Institute of the Canary Islands (Involcan) scientists in their Facebook page.

They point out that in the last graph taken at the Frontera station, "Enlarged, you can see the arrow pointing to the latest data, which as you can see, is starting to get out of the scale, currently set at 12 centimeters" [0.12 metres].

Also, the Involcan explains that until 20:00 hours on Monday, 79 earthquakes have been located in this swarm, "but really the number will clearly increase in the coming hours as the signals are analyzed," notes the Institute.

THE ENERGY RELEASED FROM THIS EPISODE SURPASSES THAT OF LAST SEPTEMBER

They note that "a first simple analysis of filtering scale allows us to verify that the earthquakes given equal or greater than 2.5 degrees, this episode is the most energetic since last September, but as we have said, this figure will vary significantly over the hours," they say.

After almost five hours since the seismic swarm started in El Hierro, the activity seems to lose some intensity. Involcan nevertheless maintains its planned agenda sending a team early morning, Tuesday, on the island of El Hierro.

    Deformation process

In their [Facebook] page, Involcan notes that the graph shows the ground deformation process and explains that when magma input occurs underground, it tends to block out what you have above, to ascend, causing the soil to deformed.

"This deformation-accumulation can be in the horizontal, in any direction, and the vertical, which is what the graph shows. You can see how since the crisis began back in July of 2011, the area where the station is installed in the town of La Frontera just 'swell', except after the eruption of October 2011, when the ground 'deflated' slightly with magma ejected out, south of La Restinga" Involcan points.

"Therefore, based on the data transmitted by the station, we can say that under the island of El Hierro magma continues to build up, which does not necessarily imply that it will end up erupting," concludes Involcan.

Compared to La Palma, the magma-bed under El Hierro has been inflated continuously with new magma injection since mid 2012:

The GPS network in the Canary Islands, Spain, is being operated under a collaboration of ITER, GrafCan, and Nagoya University.

Still no 0.5 Hz Harmonic Tremor showing at the bottom of the spectrogram graph, just rapid fire of strong EQs.

Accordingly, no eruption on its way, yet.

Our thoughts are with you- if she goes we will all suffer, however lots of little releases is good very good, I am convinced we are receiving help from off world with seismic activity, it is being orchestrated for minimal damage, hold on to this and make it your reality- Remember what you think will happen- will happen, Peace Light and love to your Island.

According to IGN GPS stations, the Orchilla lighthouse grew up by almost 6 centimeters in a few days... (HI05 station, see top of page diagrams)

Canary Islands Red Alert: “Eruption At El-Hierro In Near Future Increasingly Likely”
Will we soon have an eruption of the El Hierro Volcano in the Canary Islands? According to Volcano Discovery, the scenario of this happening in the NEAR FUTURE is becoming increasingly likely. In fact, there is now a Red Alert and evacuations going on in La Restinga as shared in the first video below. Check out the map above of recent seismic activity in the area; something is surely getting ready to happen with 155 earthquakes above magnitude 2 today (Saturday) alone. What might an El Hierro eruption mean to North America and the world?
