I read this a while ago, and thanks for posting it again here. The information is valid and interesting (and will be inspiring to many!), but I have to say that I'm as sure as I can be that the person who wrote this was not and never had been a judge. That means that there's at least a small amount of fiction in the article.

The writing style contains too many informalities and minor errors that a judge (a highly educated, careful, meticulous and formally thinking person, necessarily so) would never make. It's VERY easy for anyone to write anything like this on a blog (you or I could do this, and it often happens) -- and the alternative media confusion about who is stating what, and on what grounds, just proliferates.
