I was at the store having a lottery ticket checked, and said 'look this up in the losers file'. they gave me a funny look. I said, '99% of the folks who play don't win, so why do they call the thing the 'winner's file'? (numbers that are drawn). Should be called the 'sucks to be you' file, I said. Which got the intended chuckle from the person. I decided to have the numbers played again, a first, for me. First time ever, for them -- they would not play. The machine would not allow it. I got the hint and said, 'draw a random set, then'.
Then for some reason I decided to pay cash, not debt. I pulled the money out of my wallet, and said 'it does not want to leave my wallet, like a 3-4 year old being removed from a toy store. screaming and fighting the whole way.' Which got a giggle from them.
Then I said, 'when this happens to a person..and their kid... and it happens almost all the time at big toy stores..what about simply...going back in again, right away? Then walk right to the exit and...double down? Then do it again? Hhmmm..is that considered cruelty, or trying to get a kid to balance themselves out?"
