I was at the store having a lottery ticket checked, and said 'look this up in the losers file'. they gave me a funny look. I said, '99% of the folks who play don't win, so why do they call the thing the 'winner's file'? (numbers that are drawn). Should be called the 'sucks to be you' file, I said. Which got the intended chuckle from the person. I decided to have the numbers played again, a first, for me. First time ever, for them -- they would not play. The machine would not allow it. I got the hint and said, 'draw a random set, then'.

Then for some reason I decided to pay cash, not debt. I pulled the money out of my wallet, and said 'it does not want to leave my wallet, like a 3-4 year old being removed from a toy store. screaming and fighting the whole way.' Which got a giggle from them.

Then I said, 'when this happens to a person..and their kid... and it happens almost all the time at big toy stores..what about simply...going back in again, right away? Then walk right to the exit and...double down? Then do it again? Hhmmm..is that considered cruelty, or trying to get a kid to balance themselves out?"

I always say a firm no to any request at the store & only ever give rewards after work is done; works remarkably well & we get complements on how well behaved our kids are all the time.... Of course in the Caribbean child rearing is handled much differently so it's easy to look like you have your stuff together

Update on my aquatic motorcycle adventure: phone is a brick; bike worked great on my commute to work & my helmet was still pretty wet which worked like a swamp cooler above 25mph... Maybe I'll start spraying it down just to stay cool!

If you leave your phone out in the sun it will start working again after three days.

Alright,...a new urban myth. Do you stand in front of the phone after three days and say 'phoneman, phoneman, phoneman'?*

curtsy, pirouette, or dead chicken, or all three?

(he should take the phone apart immediately and blast all the boards and panel, keyboard, etc, with compressed air. Then it will work in less than a day. with no oxidation, to boot.)

Might take longer than three days, and might help if one can open it up as much as possible. Also give it a good shake or two each day.

The goal is to get the moisture out, which can hide in the crevices and short out electrical circuits.

If you have some sort of oven or better yet dehydrator that can be left on a nice gentle toasty temperature for a few hours, that can speed things up (or fry things, if too hot.)

(aha - compressed air helps too - thanks Carmody)

sometimes they recommend a hair dryer, too. can be tricky, though.

Yeah, I'm the guy who could take the phone apart in 10-30 seconds, while standing on the street corner, speaking to someone and watching traffic. I have a a well developed affinity for such things as electronics. I understand that waiting three days may also work, and may even have a fairly decent success rate. But... that there are more effective ways..

    Hi Henry,

Welcome to Project Avalon and the Village.

    Thanks for your concern.

These types of things are common in my life and I sometimes write about them here and now.

Sorry if it upset you in any way.

I can assure you that it's not a premonition. As unnerving as it was -more of a confirmation that something I've been working on and others is on the right track. Just finished up with about 2 years worth of work.

    Love

Tried pulling it partially apart & putting it In a bag of rice for a day then moved the bag into the fridge to sit for another day, tried to turn it on today with no luck.... My pool filter isn't working right so there is a lot of build up on my bike and helmet... I'm sure this is preventing my pocket computers return from the dead.... I had insurance though, so just a few green pieces of paper and I'm back in business

    Donk,
My heart goes out to you, it is hard when our kids become influenced by others. I had to put my son through rehab, twice, after he left our home and stayed with a girlfriend whose mom gave him morphine for his headaches. I save gave, but actually she made him pay a very high price, not only with money but with his life force and will to live after he was hooked. Glad to say rehab helped or he just grew up in his own good time and is now a loving father and husband. Time heals. Expectations set one up for failure of success.

TargeT- I know the phone is a big deal buddy but I was more worried about your wrist and your bike. So glad you are ok.

Nora- I have similar visions and don't know how to make them stop. I have not found any explanation and have learned to simply ask, did you see that, when it happens. When they say no I just pretend I am special.

And here and now I have been very heavy hearted about my 90 year old grandma who was diagnosed with cancer last week. Now she is afraid to die and has decided to take radiation and chemo 5 days a week for 5 weeks. I was so proud of her when she found out and said she would just live out the rest of her life and be happy. I am sooo concerned with this so called treatment. She is a frail woman and can barely take Tylenol.

In expressing my concerns, I come to find that my aunt that she lives with has a bottle of Jim Hubble's MMS.I tell her that is wonderful. That is a start... only to find out she believes that it would be morally wrong not to recommend the treatment the doctor has suggested. I am thinking, my grandma is 90. She does not all of her little body radiated and chemoed! She needs a healthy alternative way to heal and to live out the rest of her life without suffering.

But who am I to say. It is not me who has been given this death sentence. Although I love her to death! My ideas and suggestions today.. NO DICE!

This is an oddball news item."Strange Momument Mysteriously Shows Up In Front of Restaurant." Funny, the news coverage never asks who the person named and given fealty of greater Oklahoma City is, nor what Creer Pipi is. Nor does it mention H.P. Lovecraft.

    http://kfor.com/2013/08/26/strange-m...ea-restaurant/

I looked the area up on GoogleEarth, and learned that Oklahoma City does lie on the conjunction of three ley lines.

'Créer pipi' is French for to create pee, so it must be some kind of piss artist needing somewhere to relieve himself on the way home. What is this about a Lovecraft connection?

Resurrecting a dead phone after three days reminds me of something I read somewhere (on Carmody's book thread perhaps ). If all else fails, you could always use your phone number to buy a lottery ticket...

While driving down the mountain today a mid-size passenger plane flying low from the North cut and banked in front of me doing almost a nose dive into the median. . I reacted taking my foot off of the gas pedal and ducking down waiting for impact. To my astonishment it disappeared. My passenger asked me what in the h... are you doing? I said did you see that plane it almost crashed into the freeway. They asked what plane? There isn't any plane. Still driving slowly I looked around for it -nothing. I collected myself enough to drive into the crazy city with my friend looking at me as if I was nuts.

I'm back on the mountain watching the thunder clouds roll by.

Good morning, Villagers. 5:33 am here, and I woke up worrying about the Middle East. I hate worrying. But I also have Saturn squaring my Ascendant now, and could do with some fluffy lightening up.
