I did a quick search before posting this, in order to avoid creating a topic that already exist somewhere here, so I am sorry if I did a mistake but here goes:
Dr. Masaru Emoto is already well known writer and researcher (more info here> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masaru_Emoto) and by reading his book (The hidden messages in water), he might have touch in a very important piece of the puzzle for solutions. His theory is: "The average human body is 70% water (it was 99% when we were fetuses, 90% when we were born and probably be about 50% if we die of old age) in other words, throughout our lives we exist mostly as water. From a physical perspective, humans are WATER. So how can people live happy and health lives? the answer is to purify the water that makes up 70% of your body, why? because water serves as the transporter of energy through out our body and his discovers point that water has the ability to copy information" Below is a video that shows how water react by our feelings or even by words written in a piece of paper, he took crystal photographs that showed this phenomena.

It seems to me when you mentioned how we treat water, and we are 70% water, I see the two tied together - we treat people badly, the water in the environment reacts.. Possibly allowing itself to be controlled or manipulated. Not getting into any heavy discussion on the Gaia theory, but I get your point very well, thank you. The Mother should respond if we model ourselves in a view to reach out. I am thinking I recall something Hopi have said at one time about this.. Something about the war on water is about the war on self, and inner conflict - there is no one man who can stand in a runing river and make it stop, nor should he - that is no demonstration that he is either wise nor a smart "brave" - that he is in the river challenging the water is because he is in conflict and water will show him in time a cycle, it is a gift delicately shared to help bring life not put it down - kindly
