Default THOSE WHO BLEW THE WHISTLE: Painted Portraits of Whistleblowers by artist Doug Auld

    -------

    Hi, All:

Artist Doug Auld wrote to me to show me some of his oil paintings of whistleblowers, asking if I might be willing to share them with Avalon members. I'm delighted to do so.

    William Binney

    Michael Hastings

    Dr John Mack

    Bradley Manning

    Gary McKinnon

    Pat Tillman

Doug has written the following as a commentary on his work:

Whistleblower: a person who informs on another or makes public disclosure of corruption or wrongdoing

The idea of painting portraits of “whistleblowers” struck me when examining the lives of certain individuals who were willing to bring upon themselves enormous controversy and incredible upheaval for seemingly little or no reward. Many of them, unknown to the general public, have lost their careers, families, and were even incarcerated and allegedly eliminated for their claims.

Included with its original definition, I have chosen to portray individuals who bring awareness to previously unknown information that might enlighten public awareness and alter opinion. Many of these controversial ideas are contrary to the status quo of present Political, Corporate, Scientific and Religious interests of the day.

Each person I have chosen to paint has brought attention to highly controversial  information provoking  public reaction from adoration to condemnation. Some of their involvement has been situational and unplanned, and some has been determined and purposeful. While many of them have acted contrary to their own best interest, their conviction runs deep and they have not retracted  their claims.

By definition, there can be whistleblowers in almost every topic and category. However, my main fascination is with those who are informers within the ”paranormal”, UFO, Alien Abduction and so called Black Ops and “Classified“ topics. These are murky and difficult categories that challenge the norm and are by their very nature, difficult regarding reliable information.

The portraits I have created are of people who are presently living as well as deceased. My intent is not to impose my own thoughts or beliefs regarding them, but rather to re-contextualize their images in paint thus have them reborn, rediscovered and re-evaluated. This is an ongoing project and other images will be added   .

Inquiries can be sent to doug@dougauld.com.

Thanks Bill for highlighting the importance of the artist Doug Alud and his role in this world. He came to the right person and right place indeed.

These portraits brought me to tears, the skill behind the brush, with the capture of essence of the spirit of the 'sitters', caught on canvas, a key to any artist worth his salt. He's done this beautifully bringing with every brush stoke and pigment life. The unsung hero's of our modern day celebrated in a timeless expression at the painters hand will always be a quest that shines and never to be diminished. The public/private galleries are strune, with often lifeless 'works of art' for just the sake of investment with no heart. These people will be remembered with real tactile artistry rather than digital capture fading into itself within the machine.

These are fantastic oil paintings. Would love to have a print of a few, namely Binney and Snowden to hang in my room.

It is heartwarming to know that these brave people have been honored in this way. Art has a life of its own and so will their memories and deeds.

There may be a lot of work that Doug could do!

The Project Camelot Tribute Page is here (do look, for anyone who's never seen this page):

    http://projectcamelot.org/tribute.html

I'd love to see portraits of Tesla, Royal Rife, and Bill Cooper! They absolutely belong in that kind of hall of fame. I've never seen an oil painting of Tesla, but I imagine there must be one somewhere.

If Kerry and I were featured (and I certainly don't think we deserve that), then we'd also need to include David Icke, Alex Jones, Bill Deagle, Joseph Farrell, Jordan Maxwell, Michael Tsarion, David Wilcock, Linda Howe, Ryan Wood, Leo Stringfield, Jeff Rense, Klaus Dona, Erich von Däniken, Graham Hancock, Mike Adams, Steve Quayle, Doug Hagmann, and many, many, many more.

And, from Camelot witnesses alone (not those on the Tribute page, which only salutes those who were killed) -- Bob Dean, Henry Deacon (Art Neumann), John Lear, Brian O'Leary, Pete Peterson, Wade Frazier, Jim Humble, Dan Sherman, Duncan O'Finioan, Clifford Stone, and many many more there as well.

Other major whistleblowers never interviewed by Kerry or myself include Russell Tice, Ted Gunderson, Wesley Clark, Robert Duncan, Barrie Trower, John Hall, Walter Bowart, Julian Assange, Sibel Edmonds, Robert Strecker, Karen Hudes, Ed Snowden (of course)... that list also goes on and on and on, and on.

What a fantastic collection so far. How wonderful it would be to have them exhibited in Public galleries touring around the globe.

Blue Portrait of Nikola Tesla, the only painting Tesla posed for in 1916, author: Vilma Lwoff-Parlaghy (1863-1923).

The New York Times, 2nd March, 1916
    Tesla's Portrait Shown

Painted by Princess Under Light Arranged by Inventor.
Nikola Tesla, inventor in the realm of electricity, has had his portrait painted under a special man-made north light and last night it was shown for the first time by the artist, the Princess Lwoff-Parlaghy, at a reception which she gave at her new studio, 109 East Thirthy-ninth Street, especially to exhibit it.
It was one of the beliefs of Mr. Tesla that there was something unlucky about posing for a picture and so he never sat to any before he entered the studio of the Princess. The room which she had chosen did not have a skylight in it and the much desired north exposure was missing. So it was that at the suggestion of Mr. Tesla, a cluster of powerful incandescents was put up in the corner of the apartment and the rays, filtered through blue glass, were just of the right quality. The portrait was shown under the same illumination.
Mr. Tesla having solved the problem of the artificial sun fell to thinking about other parts of the universe, and there he sat oblivious to his surroundings. So it was that the painter was able to produce a likeness in which there is no evidence that the subject was conscious that anybody was even watching him, much less studying his features from the other side of an easel.
Among those who attended the reception were Mrs. C. B. Alexander, Henry P. Davidson, the Countess de Ritterberg, and Mrs. E. T. Isham.

The portraits in the OP are staggering/breathtaking - they certainly have that something extra in their energy.

    Thanks for posting these.

The facial portrait is particularly appropriate for whistleblowers. It offers a coherent picture of a human input-output device: what the eyes have seen, the ears heard, the nose scented, the mouth has spoken. And the fixity of the pose enhances the steadfast gaze and the full meaning of this coherent picture, outwardly no more than a few daubs of paint, but inwardly so solid: a pictorial rendering of what we mean by integrity. Take Gary McKinnon: this is not the boy made by his lawyers to cry off with Asperger’s – an understandable mistake in my view: wholly understandable but nonetheless a mistake – it is the man whose blow of the whistle many never got to hear at all, but many others did.
