Default The true fate of Space Shuttle Columbia - Flight STS-107?

Here's an intriguing video, which presents 'evidence', or at least, a theory, that something very unusual may have happened to Columbia in 2003, and that it may have been destroyed before re-entry.

Now I am normally quite skeptical when it comes to videos like this, especially with visual 'evidence' of unusual phenomena and strange goings on. Not that I am a skeptic that such things exist, and can and do happen, but such is the trickery and the disinformation that 'they' are pumping out these days. We must remain ever vigilant.

Now is all this complete and utter nonsense?? Apologies if this has already been posted. It may well be yet another hoax for us to waste our time upon. It's quite likely. But this vid is an interesting yarn nonetheless, and by no means the most implausible I have heard.

I ignore for now the supposition made in the video’s title, that ETs were responsible, and its alleged mission to deploy a spy satellite over Russia. It is intriguing enough with the idea here that Columbia met its end before re-entry. The official story is that a ‘foam strike’ on take off was to blame. The damage caused was enough to compromise the heat shield (the ceramic tiles), and the vessel broke apart on entering the atmosphere. But there is precedent for a cover up, for if I recall correctly there were attempts by NASA to cover their butts during the inquiry of the loss of Challenger. So could indeed something else have happened to Columbia, something even more damaging to them, and the many veils of secrecy they maintain, that would have them concoct a cover story of technical errors and unforeseen ‘acts of God’?

I do think it's worth looking at, at least until it's been disproved. Note specifically the second half of the video here, which claims to be genuine footage taken in earth orbit of the wreckage of shuttle Columbia. No documentation is provided to shed light on where this footage came from, or how it was obtained. It looks real. But that is no guarantee whatsoever that what you are looking at is the genuine article. We've all seen special effects movies, right? Then this sequence could very well be from a movie (not one I recognise), or have an origin with CGI artists presenting materiel as part of a portfolio. There are many such instances of this out there, and all are very elaborate and convincing. This is probably the case in my opinion, but would like to know more.

The author of the video claims one caveat however, and that is a slight anomaly of a NASA logo on the hull of the destroyed Columbia, that is not visible in the take off footage.

Here is a capture from the vid:

Note the NASA decal, like a round blue circle, to the right of the words 'UNITED STATES'

Here is an image he provides from that very same launch, which shows no such logo at that spot

Yet I found a couple of images rather quickly of the Columbia launch ST-107, that does indeed reveal the NASA logo on that area of the hull (I have highlighted it with a red arrow). This alone is an interesting inconsistency. Who knows what it means...

this video looks to damn good and if its cgi why so much work and be lazy on such an important detail?

I'm having trouble watching the last 3 or 4 minutes of the video, it just stops and won't continue the download. Same thing when I go to YouTube and try to watch it. My question is, when we're looking at the wreckage from about 12 minutes on, where is the camera and who is doing the filming?

    I found this.

Quote A video I made to show how the Shuttle may look if it was destroyed in space.
Filmed from the ISS or maybe another Shuttle. All made with real photo's of the Shuttle then I used Photoshop to make it look damaged and in pieces.
Then I put it in space using After Effects.

I simply could never accept the coincidence of the timing.

Allied forces had just spent weeks or months arriving in the middle east ready to take down Saddam and whatever other mischief they got up to over there. The shuttle crew had been orbiting the planet during much of that military buildup and must have been very privy to the highest levels of secret technology in space to give the allied forces the upper hand.

GW had made his big speech threatening 'the enemy', then we were given one big heart breaker of a space show during the final few hours of the count down to war.

I have no idea what really happened, but energetically, I was never in any doubt that it was part of the big stunt they were pulling off..

    Another version here: https://youtube.com/watch?v=4ZTarcDJCAk

Also the audio that accompanies the so-called destruction/aftermath footage is a genuine recording of chatter on the ground at the time Columbia was breaking up in the atmosphere. They don't mention the shuttle having been destroyed (yet), and concerns mostly the heat sensors malfunctioning.

Good find! And thanks, maybe that puts this to rest (though the logo anomaly in the actual launch photos remains.)

I was sure it was CGI, as I would expect much of the debris to be moving in different directions, and spinning all the while. In fact, many of the smaller pieces would have by this time, after the explosion, been sent far out of shot, and not even visible.

But it is still truly an excellent CGI depiction of what the debris of a spacecraft lost in orbit might look like. So good, you have to ask yourself, has there ever been a time when actual genuine footage of something extraordinary or just classified, makes it into the public domain but is immediately passed off as CGI, just to keep the lid on things? It makes you think. And perhaps this tactic has been used before? (though not here).

I fully agree with your point of view.
Very well done. Too good in fact, I'm thinking.

Now (2016) the description of that video clearly states:

Space Shuttle Destroyed by TFH - CGI - 2D
    SPACE SHUTTLE DESTROYED Part 1
    CGI WORK IN PROGRESS
