My wife has started learning Italian, and the teacher suggested an opportunity to hear some Italian dialogue in a movie by one Valeria Bruni-Tedeschi, called A Château in Italy. Turns out this woman is the sister of Carla Bruni, who bored us all to tears as Mrs Sarkozy. Well this film was such an appallingly dreadful turnip (navet) that English words fail me: consternant, affligeant, catastrophique would be acceptable approximate descriptors.

However, I managed to sit through it only because the mountain of autobiographical elements afforded an interesting insight into the wildly dysfunctional society of heirs to new money that also seem to have latched onto the reins of power. The ‘plot’ is about an industrialist’s heirs who are in big trouble with the taxman and have to sell off the family château, but the son, who is dying of AIDS, refuses. The tale of the woman who beds a bloke and his son, and tries to have a baby by one of them (but which one?) is lifted straight from the life of Bruni’s sister. The mother character playing Albeniz on the piano is taken straight from the life of the previous Mrs Sarkozy, Cécilia what’s-her-name, who is a descendant of the composer. Of course, it is all passed off as comedy, but comical is the last thing it would come close to; it is so dismally abysmal in every aspect that the only way to believe that this is for real, as a movie, is to take it as being 100% realistic. These guys are seriously deranged.

Public health warning: life is too short.

Great video, Playdo, and sums up what I believe and why I dropped out of big city life.
Even after moving to a developing country big city life still caught up with me,
and to really enjoy the present moment I needed to learn to relax and
let go of that constant rushing from crisis to crisis, addicted to solving problem after problem.

I found out that once in a while it's fun to stop and look at chaos and say, 'hey, I like it!'
There is an important message to be gleaned from chaotic situations....
and which has to do with influx of fresh ideas and creativity, of a totally different kind
than those provided by western society.

The zen method is akin to working on solving one problem, to work on one thing, to perfection.

Big cities never allow for that. It's good for initiation of ideas and considerations (and dealing with them, etc) that occupy the surface of life, but nothing more.

To me, they are like one giant mirrored self affected ego trip of never ending distracted and chaotic mental chatter.

Things get done, but very little of it means anything, beyond that sphere of chatter. Much Ado About Nothing.

I have a friend who is like, a Gemini..you know, hardcore. The same guy who went to an apartment party where it was concerning three people having the same birthday, at the same party. Geminis on Geminis. Recursive mirrored Gemini chatter. Enough to give a Taurus a headache - and jump through the 4th story window....

He moved to the country, from that citified spin..and found that it was the best thing he'd ever done for himself. The quiet allowed his intellect to really get things done. When a Gemini says the city is too noisy, you know it really is too 'chatterish'.

But Geminis are always saying that the city is too noisy.

Well, at least if they are talking to someone who thinks so.

So that's where Robert Anton Wilson got it from. Whatever happened to multitasking? Must be the same muscles (diaphragm?) going in two directions at once.

and..of course, in similar vein...my mother had to 'one-up' stories of our youthful excesses. She told me that one time, totally hung over, that she managed to burp, fart, hiccup, sneeze, pee and vomit... and take a dump..all at the same time, ie, all in the same relative moment. Butt on the throne....head in the close by bathroom sink.

Now that's human accomplishment. I am in awe of her towering reach. To have gone that extra mile and have a moment being so far above the clouds of the rest of us. To see the limits and be one with them, to transcend them...for at least that one brief shining moment.

    And she remembered as well

That's one kind of human accomplishment. They always say women are better multitaskers, but all of those are entirely uncontrolled. I am planning a post on true complexity where that many parameters are carefully controlled.

There are no limits to one-upmanship

Granted, referencing the Daily Mail for scientific purposes should be refrained from, however, I saw this and thought it interesting and pertinent to the current conversation. Brain scans suggest that females are better multitaskers, and men do better concentrating on one thing at a time.

I am also having lunch and reading this page, and observing much connection to the material presented, being a gemini who also relocated to the country, and having had an experience similar to carmody's mother just over a year ago, unfortunately no alcohol was involved.

Would that mean that in the actual world, where both analytical and intuitive are needed for survival of the planet, women are the key??
