Watching the Watch List: Landmark Case Goes to Trial over Massive U.S. Terrorism "No-Fly" Database
    Published on Dec 2, 2013

    http://www.democracynow.org

With hundreds of thousands of people now on the government's terrorist watch lists, a closely watched trial begins today in San Francisco. Stanford University Ph.D student Rahinah Ibrahim is suing the U.S. government after she was barred from flying from Malaysia back to the United States in 2005 to complete her studies at Stanford after her name was placed on the list. The New York Times reports that the federal government's terrorist watch list, officially called the "Terrorist Screening Database," has grown to at least 700,000 people and those on the list are often subjected to extra scrutiny, prohibited from flying, and interrogated while attempting to cross borders. The government refuses to divulge who is on the list, how one can get off the list, and what criteria is used to place someone on the list in the first place. Often times, people have no idea their name's in the database until they attempt to board a flight. We speak with Anya Bernstein, associate professor at the SUNY Buffalo Law School and author of the article, "The Hidden Costs of Terrorist Watch Lists."

Apology for Quantitative Easing (QE), from Andrew Huszar, former Federal Reserve Official. He acknowledges the money has gone to the banks and not to mainstream America.

Guest, Gerald Celente jumps in on this after summary @ quick link 2:30.

    Investopedia - 'Quantitative Easing'

An unconventional monetary policy in which a central bank purchases government securities or other securities from the market in order to lower interest rates and increase the money supply. Quantitative easing increases the money supply by flooding financial institutions with capital in an effort to promote increased lending and liquidity. Quantitative easing is considered when short-term interest rates are at or approaching zero, and does not involve the printing of new banknotes.

Depression Speeds the Aging of Your Cells
    by Dr. Mark Stengler
    November 29, 2013

    How depression makes you older

Depression isn’t just a recipe for misery. It’s a recipe for getting old before your time, aging you on a cellular level and increasing your risk of chronic disease and an early death.

And if you let depression go unchecked now, you could lose as much as six years later on, according to new research showing how the condition damages your telomeres.

Those are the little caps that sit on the end of your chromosomes.
As you get older, your telomeres shrink. And as they shrink, your risk of disease grows — especially the diseases we associate with aging: heart disease, cancer, dementia and more.

Shorter telomeres are even a risk factor for death itself.

But time alone isn’t the only condition that can cause telomeres to shrink. Depression can do the job, too — shrinking your telomeres so much that it’s equal to six extra years of aging, according to a new study in Molecular Psychiatry.

And the more severe your depression — or the more chronic– the faster you can expect those telomeres to shrink.

Now, it’s true that depression often comes with other bad habits known to speed aging and shrink telomeres, including poor diet, smoking and heavy boozing. But even after adjusting for these and other risk factors, the study still finds a link between depression and cellular aging.

In other words, it’s not just the bad habits that come with depression. It’s the depression itself — and that’s why it’s critical to make sure you take control over any battle with the blues before it turns into something that takes control of you.

While there are a number of ways to beat depression, the best approach for you will depend on the cause.

If your depression is the result of one of life’s sad events — like the loss of a job or the death of a loved one — than all you may need is time, prayer and the support of friends and loved ones.

But many cases of depression — especially the severe and chronic depression that will age your cells and shrink your telomeres — have other causes, such as nutritional problems or hormonal imbalances. And in those cases, time, friends and prayer probably won’t be enough to get over the hump.

(But whatever you do, don’t fall into the antidepressant drug trap. Not only are they often not effective, they’ve been linked to diabetes!)

Instead seek the help of an experienced holistic physician who can test for these and other causes and work with you to correct them naturally….

    Paula--

I can vouch for depression's effect on aging. I used to look 10 or 15 years younger than my age, but during the 5 years after my mom died, during which time I beat myself up with coulda-woulda-shouldas, I now look my age.

I've finally healed (no longer beating myself up), am feeling good, talking to my telomeres (a la Kryon), and curious to see if my appearance will change.

    Thanks for the info.

    Peace Love Joy & Harmony,

On Aging: “Quest for Truth: 100 Insights That Could Change Your Life,” by Darryl Anka, Chapter 5: Health & Healing pgs. 166-7.

    Hi Genevieve,

Synchronicity. Read this last evening by “Bashar”.

    Some bullet points:
    • The more you live in the moment, the more you become absorbed, literally, absorbed in doing what you love to do, the less you will age.
    • If you feel that you have only experienced about one half hour when perhaps to the rest of the world three hours went by, you actually only aged one half hour.
    • Following your excitement and staying in that vibration unlocks you from the Time Matrix and allows you to experience yourself as relatively ageless.

Question: I was wondering if there might be an image or model where we could effect the aging process?

Bashar: "Live in the moment. The more you live in the moment, the more you become absorbed, literally, absorbed in doing what you love to do, the less you will age. All of you know the experience of “time flies” when you hare having fun. You know that time isn’t really flying. And in all reality, it isn’t that your are just ignoring the passage of time. You create time. And when you do something that allows you to be so focused that you can come out of it and say, “Oh, many hours have passed, where did the time go?” you actually did not create that time, literally. If you feel that you have only experienced about one half hour when perhaps to the rest of the world three hours went by, you actually only aged one half hour.

Living in the moment, staying in the moment. Following your excitement and staying in that vibration unlocks you from the Time Matrix and allows you to experience yourself as relatively ageless. Now, the idea is, when you realize that three hours have passed, what you are simply doing is, automatically and by choice, reconnecting yourself to the time stream that all of you have agreed to share, because you don’t want to completely divorce yourself from that matrix. Otherwise, you will not be able to interact with many other people on your planet at this time. But the more all of you live in the moment, the more you will be able to interact in the “Now” and the less again you will experience, because you are literally creating less time. When you stay in the moment you are creating less details, you are allowing yourself to see the big picture of what you are doing, and allowing your higher self to allow the details to be opened and positioned automatically. You don’t have to ‘fragment’ your consciousness to take care of ‘worrying about all the details’ or trying to juggle all the details into place. The fewer details you pay attention to in that fashion, the less time you will need to get done what you need to get done…."

Peace, Love, Joy, & Harmony, back to you,
    Paula

Miraculous rescue video: Man survives 60 hrs underwater in sunken boat

Dramatic footage emerged Tuesday showing the rescue of ship's cook Harrison Okene, who survived for almost three days trapped in an air bubble in his sunken ship. The Nigerian reportedly survived with no food and just a few cans of fizzy drink, 30 meters under the sea. His 11 colleagues died when their boat capsized and sank off the Nigerian coast.

Detroit Bankruptcy: Wall Street, Lost Revenues Forced Decline, But City Pensioners to Pay the Costs

“...Orr will present a "plan of adjustment" in bankruptcy court that will clarify how much pensions will be cut. ...”

    Published on Dec 4, 2013

http://www.democracynow.org - A federal judge has approved Detroit's bid to qualify for bankruptcy, putting the city on a path to financial recovery -- but threatening the livelihoods of thousands of city workers. In a landmark decision that could harm retiree benefits nationwide, federal Judge Steven Rhodes ruled that federal bankruptcy law can override state laws that protect public pensions. That clears the way for Detroit to make major cuts to the health and retirement benefits of city employees. The city faces about $18 billion in debt, of which $3.5 billion is pension obligations. Detroit's Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr has told public unions to brace for "significant cuts," but has not laid out details.

Workers' pensions in Detroit average around $19,000 per year. By the new year, Orr will present a "plan of adjustment" in bankruptcy court that will clarify how much pensions will be cut. The plan may also include a "fire sale" of city assets that could result in public utilities and the Detroit Institute of Arts collection being bartered off to private bidders. Detroit's bankruptcy filing marks a grim milestone in the decline of what was once the country's fourth-largest city, known as the Motor City, the birthplace of the middle class. We are joined by Wallace Turbeville, Senior Fellow at Demos and former Goldman Sachs executive who has just authored the new report, "The Detroit Bankruptcy." Turbeville argues that Detroit's problems stem not from its liabilities but from a decline in public revenues and involvement in harmful Wall Street schemes.

Cops Target One Of Their Own

Florida cop arrested for wearing Guy Fawkes mask at Obamacare protest
    RT

December 4, 2013

A Florida police officer who was protesting US President Obama’s newly implemented healthcare law has been arrested because he refused to take off a Guy Fawkes mask he was wearing at a demonstration.

Ericson Harrell, 39, was wearing a mask, a black cape, and holding an inverted American flag when police approached him in Plantation, Florida. Harrell told officers he was “protesting Obamacare” but the police report notes “he refused each time” when he “was asked several times to remove his mask and produce some form of identification or tell us his name” and taken into custody.

The mask is the same one popularized in the film “V for Vendetta” and then by the activist hacking collective known as Anonymous.
The police report does not mention whether other protesters were at the scene or if Harrell was holding his own individual rally. It does say Harrell was not willing to tell police who he was, “stating his anonymity was his cause, thus the mask…He stated the mask was used by movement groups around the world for protests.”

He only told responding officers “I’m a cop, I’m a cop” and was apprehended when one policeman found a .40 caliber pistol in his waistband.

Harrell, who was charged with obstruction of justice and with wearing a hood or mask on the street, was given a notice to appear in court and not jailed.

The statute Harrell was charged under was originally signed into law in an attempt to criminalize the Ku Klux Klan without violating the white supremacist group’s right to free assembly or free speech.

Chapter 876 Section 12 of Title XLVI under Florida law classifies “wearing mask hood, or other device on public way” as a crime. Stating in full: “no person or persons over 16 years of age shall, while wearing any mask hood, or device whereby any portion of the face is so hidden, concealed, or covered as to conceal the identity of the wearer, enter upon, or be or appear upon any lane, walk, alley, street, road, highway, or other public way in this state.”

Harrell’s supervisor at the North Miami Beach police told the Miami Sun-Sentinel that the officer is a 15-year veteran of the force and has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Jeremy Scahill: Oscar Nod for "Dirty Wars" Could Raise Awareness of Ongoing U.S. Drone Strikes

See trailer below. It's also included in this video. - "…America knows war. They are war masters."

    Published on Dec 5, 2013
http://www.democracynow.org - Just over six months ago, President Obama gave a major address unveiling new guidelines to limit drone strikes abroad, vowing to narrow the scope of the U.S. targeted killing campaign. But a new analysis by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism has raised questions about how much Obama's new rules have actually constrained the drone program.

The Bureau found that while the total number of strikes has slightly decreased, more people were killed in Yemen and Pakistan by covert drone strikes strikes in the past six months than in the six months preceding Obama's address.

We speak with independent journalist Jeremy Scahill, who documentary film, "Dirty Wars: The World is a Battlefield," directed by Richard Rowley, was one of 15 feature documentaries shortlisted this week for an Oscar.

That is because a loophole in the tax code lets companies deduct the costs of performance-based executive pay. he is so right, and now I regret the tossing of a lot of earlier video info proof, because new people are coming here and not thinking long term and only having little memory space, (novels on it) I at the end of the year, get rid of old footage video that led me on my search and were valuable to me to realize how serious the whole thing is.

Man, so disappointed in not being able to hold on to it, because now when I speak on stuff, I want to show them where I got it from, but I dumped a lot of stuff just the day before yesterday, dated 2011, to make room for 2014 stuff.

I apologize if I've not left enough links on the discussions or commentary I posted. I will be more careful to keep some real important links/video in a notebook if I dump stuff from now on.

Later ya'll, got to do a few things for a few hours. Enjoy your weekend and cover up, if you're in the cold. If you lose power and you're power is your heat, try the candle radiating heaters posted on Youtube. They can stop hypothermia.

    Hi Lifebringer,

I save the links only because it does take up a lot of space on my computers and other back-up drives. Another way is on a YouTube account. You can create different sections and keep some private and others open to the public.

Something to think about is that there's so much information coming out that backs up and adds to the older versions of vids that it's probably be better to send your friends and family the newer ones.

Speaking of your candle radiating heaters, here's one of those links I saved. And you are quoted in it back in August. Have a restful weekend and stay warm.

    Candle Powered Heater
Quick version here, full version below.
    Published on Feb 13, 2013

Winter is cold and the heater costs a lot of money to run! Why not heat your room with a simple candle? Does it take longer? Yes! Light the candle a few hours before you want to go to bed. Then hop in to the sack.... WHOA! Is this bedroom really that warm? Oh, yes. Hack a heater and join the resistance.

Space heaters take time to do their thing so don't be impatient, get it going early and enjoy the results later.... All it costs you is a simple candle.

How To Make a Candle Powered Space Heater

    Published on Jan 6, 2013

Check out out website - http://www.axebros.com

The entire project cost around 10 dollars (including candle) and my Brother swears that his room is quite comfortable in these long winter nights.

The items you'll need are: 3 Pots that fit into each other (the "baby" pot should be the smallest you can buy) 1 Bolt that fits through all three of your pots (we used 3/8ths inch bolt that was 8 inches long) 6 Washers 5 3/8 inch nuts 8 1/2 inch nuts 2 bricks (size depends on the candles you use) 1 Candle 2 Hands (you could probably get it done with one, but it would take forever)

5 Steps You Can Take to Democratize Your Community | Interview with Gar Alperovitz

(see article below with 10 steps from Gar Alperovitz and Keane Bhatt)

    Published on Dec 6, 2013

Abby Martin interviews Gar Alperovitz, political economy professor at the University of Maryland about his social prescriptions for democratizing local economies, citing the benefits of credit unions and participatory budgets.

"What Then Can I Do? Ten Ways to Democratize the Economy"

[Click for specifics & further links on how to start conversation in your local communities]
    1. Democratize Your Money: Put your money in a credit union - then participate in its governance.
    2. Seize the Moment: Time For Worker Ownership!
Help build a worker co-op or encourage interested businesses to transition to employee ownership and adopt social and environmental standards as part of their missions.
    3. Take Back Local Government: Demand Participatory Budgeting!
Organize your community so that local government spending is determined by inclusive neighborhood deliberations on key priorities.
    4. Push Local Anchors to do Their Part:
Make nonprofit institutions like universities and hospitals use their resources to fight poverty, unemployment, and global warming.
    5. Reclaim Your Neighborhood With Democratic Development: Build community power through economic development and community land trusts.
    6. Public Money for the Public Good:
Organize to use public finances for community development.
    7. Stop Letting Your Savings Fuel Corporate Rule:
Get your workplace to offer more retirement-plan opportunities for responsible investment.
    8. Democratize Energy Production to Create a Green Economy:
Get involved in public and cooperative utilities to fight climate change.
    9. Mobilize the Faith Community: Get your religious organization to move its money to a local financial institution involved in community development.
    10. Make Time for Democracy: Fight unemployment by joining the fight against work.
