Default Mark Madoff - son of Bernie Madoff - commits suicide.

Sad. I think both boys were innocent ... and the father betrayed them.

ps: Just a gut feeling. We'll know more as the story unfolds (if it is allowed to, that is).

Well, since I'm supposed to be learning how to be a compassionate person, I won't jump for joy over his death. However, there is more air for the rest of us now.

well just a bit to remember...

The 2 boys turned in their dad...

otherwise the Ponzi Scheme would still be rolling...

I wonder who would have benefited from having it continue?

BINGO! As I father myself, I can not fathom someone leaving their 2 year old alone while they do themselves in... nor can I imagine actually committing suicide in the presence or proximity of child. This barring some crackhead on the wrong end of a syringe. Just no way. I don't buy it for a second. And hanging no less. WTF. With this guys access, pills are a much easier and less painful way... although I wouldn't have bought that either.

Perhaps the local Mossad wanting to prevent leaks regarding that 50 billion. Maybe he called Assange

Quote In a seismic shock sure to rumble Wall Street and beyond, the Wikileaks organization will blow the
top off a story of how top people at the American Securities and Exchange Commission constructively
colluded with Bernard Madoff in the biggest Ponzi scheme in U.S. history.

The U.S. Attorney General , together with Janet Napolitano are trying to head off the
informational Tsunami which will soon be unleashed from an as-yet-unnamed source.

The U. S. government is already compiling a guillotine list of heads to roll when the
disclosures are made of how Bernard Madoff was allowed to pull off his scheme despite
warning bells being rung from private investors .
strange place to find it on Craigslist... anyone able to find a confirmation on this?

this might be the first confirmed murder from wikileaks...

Also interesting about the lawsuit seeking the funds of various family members. If I were in his position and was, in fact, in the know (as he likely was), I could see myself playing the disclosure chip to blow the whole thing out of the water in order to save myself and family. If it leaked that key public (and non-public) persons were involved then you would think one of three things would happen: 1) it would be immediately resealed and closed perhaps giving him a pass due to pressure to eliminate all public actions and knowledge in the light of day, or 2) attention would be drawn fully away from the family affairs as better targets arise - another chance at a pass, or 3) the whole enchilada would be taken down, in which case you lose nothing. In any case, it's a strong hand... if you are alive to play it.

Bernie Madoff helped establish and chair the entire power structure of the SEC. He did not act alone and his behavior and actions did not go unobserved. Certainly, not everyone was dumb enough to be fooled by him. There are certainly co-collaborators hiding in the background and it will probably come out sooner or later.

What a Christmas Present for all of those who were scammed... Bless her heart...

Quote Madoff beneficiary Barbara Picower to return $7bn
Quote The widow of a businessman who had been the single-largest beneficiary of Bernard Madoff's colossal Ponzi scheme has agreed to return $7.2bn (£4.5bn).

Barbara Picower said Madoff's fraud was "deplorable" and promised to return money accrued over 35 years of investing with Madoff.

The trustee recovering Madoff's bogus profits filed court paper's on Friday formalising the settlement.

Florida businessman Jeffry Picower drowned after a heart attack in 2009.

US Attorney Preet Bharara called the settlement a "game changer" for Madoff's victims, many of whom lost their life savings.

The $7bn amounts to about one-third of the money investors' lost in the scandal.

But wait................since when does a family man like Bernie Maddoff steal BILLIONS of dollars placing himself and his entire family at enormous risk? Personal greed? Come on, how many billions does a fella need? Helping out pals - well, maybe but to THIS extent? Again, helping out pals in an outrageous criminal manner that PUTS HIS ENTIRE FAMILY - including his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grand children, at risk? I think there is a little more to the story here...........................this is the kind of behavior someone engages in that 1.) thinks that major powers are providing him with cover 2.) believes he is doing something for a GREATER GOOD. Otherwise what kind of a man would put his entire family and all his descendants at risk? By risk I mean, their lives and reputations destroyed by association, i.e. that their husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather was the greatest individual human thief in recorded human history!!! THINK ABOUT IT.

I think there is much, much more to this story.

Do some reading on his current blog that he updated from prison and his prison interviews. The guy is a psychopath (incapable of feelings such as remorse or empathy) and he's proud of what
he's done. As I recall, he recently called all of his victims a bunch of winers whom he "supported" for so many years...

Many of his fellow inmates look up to him as an idol or a father figure -- about as successful as one can be as a criminal.

Mark made two other attempts at suicide that day. A second broken dog leash and broken vacuum cleaner power cord were also found in his apartment.

Bernie was instrumental at NASDAQ not the SEC. He used his NASDAQ ties to push at least 3 earlier probes.
