I'm currently sitting in the train station getting ready to board. On my way here I was speeding down rural Missouri roads and hit a wild turkey with my car. My windshield is shattered and the top of my car bent. I feel miserable for killing such a beautiful animal...all because I was rushing and not being mindful.

Just thought I'd share...mindfulness is a good thing to practice in all avenues of life. This poor turkey is now a victim of my anxiety of being late. I'm going to visit my Lady in California...being late would have been a no-no!

If anybody would like to see what hitting a 30+ pound male wild Turkey while driving 65 mph down a rural Missouri road looks like...here you go:

The windshield is completely caved in and the roof of the car is bent! Thankfully it is a special type of glass...though there are some glass shards that hit me when it happened...

I've a number thing going too there, Wind, but it's not consistent: at its height, I see structure in the world because of following numbers, what's been known about them through history and how they seem to appear at just the places where they are supposed to/expected to be. I have had fights with some numbers, trying to outsmart them and have them not appear, but they win. I'd have to organise a fair amount of such fights, to make their victory a somewhat scientifical constant.

At its low, I think that counting up consecutive numbers in fractals or birthdays is nothing more but an arbitrary child's game and that if you do it long enough, something must come out of it. As does lottery. At its low too, I question the direct relation of the number with the attributions it's received over the centuries.

Has Anyone Here and Now noticed that the writing and living Our Own Script is becoming a smoother process the more diligently we think of Others in the now no matter what it is we are personally fulfilling?

The above story of a Brazilian family with six fingers reminds me of the John Wyndham novel, The Chrysalids, in which such physical deviations are so commonplace that religious bigotry against the Mutants has half the population in the ‘Badlands’ behind a buffer zone, the ‘Fringes’. The story begins with a girl with an extra toe. Eventually, though she does nothing wrong, this friend of the hero gets him in trouble, but he has a deviation of his own. He can communicate (out loud) with a friend who is elsewhere – he doesn’t have a cellphone (this was written in 1955): it is a primitive form of telepathy. This is an extremely interesting deviation to have and develop, especially when his little sister can make herself heard thousands of miles away, because it inevitably leads to isolated individuals joining forces - that is what telepathy means and does – and eventually linking up with a whole community of like-minded people. But it also does just the opposite: it divides the population into telepaths and non-telepaths. The following quote has relevance to what we are seeing in the world today, above and beyond the notion of telepathy. What we see as sociopathy and contamination by sociopaths, or as the ‘breakaway society’ described by Richard Dolan and others, is just the old way of operating acting in desperation. The real breakaway society is actually those who are moving away from this diehard position. Wyndham’s chrysalids take the back door exit from Orwell’s dystopia.

In loyalty to their kind they cannot tolerate our rise; in loyalty to our kind, we cannot tolerate their obstruction.
If the process shocks you, it is because you have not been able to stand off and, knowing what you are, see what a difference in kind must mean. Your minds are confused by your ties and your upbringing: you are still half-thinking of them as the same kind as yourselves. This is why you are shocked. And that is why they have you at a disadvantage, for they are not confused. They are alert, corporately aware of danger to their species. They can see quite well that if it is to survive they have not only to preserve it from deterioration, but they must protect it from the even more serious threat of the superior variant.

Thanks for this interesting ‘mise en abyme’, Violet. It suggests a photograph, but in the place of the photographer there would have to be just a few fingers holding a mirror over an armchair. It suggests a mirror, but what you see is not behind but in front of you. So there is no subject, and no photographer, and no mirror, and of course no chair and no landscape either: nothing but a pattern endlessly repeating itself. Food for thought.

Drats, I lost my post. Shorten version. Server went down, and it's now acting quirky (slow) as I type here.

Well, not totally down, but sometimes, for 5 to 15 minute periods, it drops some requests due to the same spamster overload that has been a bother for months now. My latest analysis is here. One such period hit just before your post to which I am responding, with the worst of it lasting six minutes.

Something nice ‘n’ shallow for eaglespirit
Ulli, having a soccer follower in the house, there are one or two things you need to know relating to Costa Rica’s role in the unfolding drama. CR is in the same group as England, and did them a favour by beating Uruguay, who last night beat England, who also lost their first game, against Italy. So now to have any hope of qualifying, England needs two more favours from CR, who has to lose both its remaining games, against Italy, and against England by two goals. This ain’t gonna happen because what everyone is forgetting is that Costa Rica is itself a useful outfit, not just making up numbers, and will probably qualify along with Italy by beating England. So I think we are in for a lot of smiling Costa Ricans and glum Englishmen – which should be OK from your viewpoint. I’m afraid happiness or even survival comes at someone’s expense (see my previous post) – until we learn not to mind (the long-suffering England supporters are learning that trick the hard way).

Everyone around here is gearing up to beat Italy today. I had to unbefriend endless Facebook contacts because the football mania was just becoming a bit too much.
Costa Ricans smile more than other people anyway,
and when they go into overdrive to me it's a reminder that I'm more comfortable with moderation in all things.

I understand that due to my birth chart configuration I have always had a predisposition to excess,
and my higher I AM just doesn't want that anymore, neither from within, nor without.
So, stuff the planets, as well as all the smiling Costa Ricans.
