Default The philosophy of autonomous free-thinking subculture in relation to electronic music

Because this article isn't necessarily only about music, but also about a way of living I had doubts whether part of the forum I would drop it Into; music section at sub-forum or here. Perhaps our moderators have a better know how what to do? In any case, if these article is in a inappropriate place I will give my apologies for this in advance.

Do the origin of electronic music has an spiritual connection?

"To know the mechanics of the wave is to know the entire secret of Nature."
    Walter Russell

''For most people who step out onto the dance floor, the rhythm and beat are simple time-keepers, letting us know when to step and where to move. For others, however, the world of dance goes much deeper, into realms of devotion and even spiritual transformation''
    Andrew Johner

While throughout Europe we have often creative groups of people that gather in secret locations to organize non profit dance evenements on a grazing area for sheep or in a abandoned industrial complex.
I just started to wonder how the case will be in the united states..?
So I make a bit of search and found something in Toronto Canada, but other than that I couldn't find nothing else which has to do with Tekno party's:

But I have found a little more about Psychedelic trance parties:

Goa Gil California 2010 birthday party

Here is one that is more recently:

Goa Gil Double Rainbow - California - May 2014 - Playing "Bodhi - Pulsing Quark" (Parvati Recs)

Maybe is there someone who knows a little more about the tekno scene in the US? Would be nice to send me more information about it.

The subculture of the ''illegal'' electronic music festivals here in Europe calls himself 'tekno' & emdash; with k, as distinct from commercial techno, electronic dance music that is released by record companies and turned into nightclubs where bouncers entrance eliminate or control access at parties. In England, where illegal parties unfashionable start hitting, they are called raves, and in France, where the 'tuffers "(parties) since couple of year ago dealt with a very repressive government policies, they are called free parties. This is the world of anti-commercial entertainment where solidarity is highly valued and make a profit out of the question unless the money is invested back in their own subculture.

As I have reported already above, Tekno Festivities are free and take place in squats, empty industrial complex or in remote and generally difficult to find locations. To circumvent the police locations are briefly disclosed in advance. Tekno party's or Teknivals take place most of the time in the summer on some European countries and there is no official organizers, so no one could be fined. Tekno feasts are a kind of mischievous plots of a small, private sub-culture that strives for self-sufficiency. Confidentiality is it sacred. Everyone in the circuit detest media interest.
    The saying usually states as:
"We are underground, and we want to keep it that way"

Music is the basis of the free parties. The way the sound is created is as simple as it is, ingenious. In the Netherlands there are alot of sound systems & emdash; collectives, clubs often group of friends who together have six speakers, amplifiers, turntables, aggregate, and if it goes well, a van or truck. Many parties exist by virtue of this mobile sound systems & emdash, if the police intervene and take measures, which consist of the seizure of the equipment. The sound systems often make their own plates. This is done in order of several hundred plates, which are sold over the internet or during celebrations. Tekno grows his own star DJs, but step into the commercial dance track that will be rarely, because they believe that this is the fun off. Especially if the bigbrother record companies appear with their contracts that usually means more to fill to their own pockets..

The concept of portable sound came early nineties over from England, during the heyday of acid house. An itinerant collective that called Spiral Tribe, was one of the participants in a now legendary rave in the English countryside that lasted four days before the police put an end to knew how to make. Spiral Tribe subsequently became known as an extremely leftist, politically engaged group that the idea of the party was free to propagate throughout Europe. ,, If we have a party somewhere, we try to emphasize the role of the community in it, "said one of them a few years ago in an interview that can be read on the Internet." We hope that people no longer see themselves as consumers but they are going to deploy. "their talents A former member of Spiral Tribe is the driving force behind Teknival in France.

Certainly, tekno is a "very leftist" subculture, a scene that make a great attraction for people with different backgrounds who are tired of the social depression. But,Politics or government is obviously not happy with liberty thinkers. Yet there is an aversion to consumerism reminiscent. Almost the same as in the punk era 'society in which we all grew up that seems to collapse quickly, so stand up for your opinion!

    The squatters live and dogs:
The life in squats can be in some cases very hardcore, remind me of a mad max/ water world cocktail but fortunately not as violent as in the Hollywood movies. It depends on with who, how and where you go squatting. The favorite pet is a the dog. No free partys is complete without a pack of playing dogs, to which a finger may be extended or you're an animal abuser. Piercings are de rigueur. At the same time fascination with drug use and psychedelia straight from the 70's hippie movement. The drug use is a sensitive issue. Almost everyone does it, but if that is overemphasized, these partys gets a bad name. ''Drugs are part of the entertainment scene'' including at Free partys.
Everyone is responsible for themselves, but if anything goes wrong with someone then they get immediately cared for.
I mean, even in politics around the world is a ridiculous amount of drugs use:
http://www.dulwichcentre.com.au/the-...-drug-use.html Or even better, do some google search about; The Biggest Cocaine company in the world, ruin by the Dutch monarchy..

There are very different people that love parties for very different reasons. The music, the feeling of freedom, the relaxed atmosphere, drugs, no commercialism, no authoritarian control. All reasons all of which are important for everyone to a different extent. For me, music, atmosphere and freedom of laws and authority is the main reason, but I think everyone should decide for themselves.
Here below is a documentary about how the Tekno Partys are in Europe:

In my time as a art student living in spuatbuildings and producing electronic music I had many years of fun and had a lot of inspiration in squat parties.
In my experience these events are the opposite of war, at least better for the body and spirit. And maybe this is one of many ways to heal the world.

I used to go to the odd squat party, outdoor rave or dnb night. I'm rly interested in reaching out to the European Techno scene cos I think some of them might get what I'm doing. I was thinking of putting micro lectures to hard techno backing tracks, like Stay up forever records. Imagine going to a squat party and suddenly there's a 45 second information blast on government suppression of Iodine or water filters or hydroponic farms. They might love it, or hate it... but it'd blow people's minds...

Yes agree, educate the masses in a positive direction or raising peoples awareness by using certain tools is a really cool idea. But most people in this scene or at least the core of it is self-sufficient and aware anyway. It has to, because squatting is not always a luxury.
I know this because for several years in my student age I was there..
Often you will see exhibitions at large in illegal festivities, for example visuals displayed with activist messages against war or corruption and alike intertwined it.
Sometimes there is also rooms where several documentaries is shown on self-sufficient life or even about conspiracy topics.

That sounds cool, especially the documentaries...

A small core are self sufficient, but, what about everyone else?

    Anyway, I'll get recording.

No one is completely self sufficient or aware ever. It's a process.

Until you're running your cars on salt water, and they all have Iodine and Liposomal Vit C on hand, and all their families are super healthy, and they have enough passive income to do what they want, they might not be totally free. I'm not having a go, I'm saying, it's a hard slog. I'm not free yet. I'm not going to be free til this whole island's free.

I think the Free Party scene is awesome. I think it has a real chance of breakout. That's why it's been so heavily infiltrated. Drugs, nose-piercings and tattoos don't mean anything to me. It's the freedom, opportunity, and self sufficiency that I love. Plus I always loved techno, since I was about 14.

Do you know the best forums and FB groups to contact these guys? Hablo Espanol tambien.

But of course not everyone is self-sufficient, especially if you live in a city where politics cared for a difficult time on squatters. They don't like when people become self-educated,
that's what happens when lived after a long time in a squatted building like the boy in this video below:

The downside however to squat in a city is that it entails risks through constant harassment of the power unit of the police:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_squatting_ban

Drugs, nose-piercings and tattoos don't mean anything to me neither.
You know, often people with different backgrounds come to live in such a community only for partying or for other reasons and know nothing, so everyone is different.
The bottom line is, most squatters are striving for freedom and self-sufficiency.
Maybe you will find these articles interesting:

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...rhood/3440627/

    http://www.theecologist.org/investig..._activism.html

    http://archiv.squat.net/anders/anarchist_squatting.html

Further more in the Netherlands is it very difficult to find livingrooms for students and squatting is forbidden since 2010 while a lot of empty office or factories buildings are rotting away due to the ''economic crisis'' The owners do absolutely nothing until you squat it than they usually have an vague excuse somewhere on paper ready to kick people out, this also applies to many other cities in Europe:

    http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2010/10/466926.html

    http://www.theguardian.com/society/2...ontinent-twice

Therefore, I think it would be better to deal with a group of people of the same level and leave the city to start a new life style as the case here:

Here is a group on FB that is active in such activities:
