Ulli ,prayers and healing on the way.
    Oh! maybe a little late.
I don't think there is a "late" when it comes to healing If all moments exist simultaneously, this moment is exactly when she needs the healing. Of course, in a strictly 3d sense, she will likely have a tough road to recovery. So I would say she can use all the help she can get, right now.

    Much Love,
Life is a road we don't travel alone. But everyone's on their own journey home.

I found the John Cage performance to be an exercise in being present in the Here and Now. Admittedly, the first time I saw the blank wall of invisible art I was amazed that people paid to stare at that. However, I can see now that one draw to this sort of thing is that these people might desparately need a moment when the stimuli around and inside them are silenced. You never know, someone might have had a profound spiritual experience as a result.

As the John Cage piece progressed, I found myself engrossed in the energy, which became stronger and "louder."

Thanks for exposing me to something new
Here’s a practice thread and an old post for you 1inMany, since it seems you weren’t listening properly to John Cage last time around

Well if John Cage can do it in 4'33" I wonder if it's possible here.

    Post your silence.

    I posted John Cage's composition, 4'33", yesterday [ https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...l=1#post548957 ]

and, synchronistically unbeknownst to me, read that today is John Cage's 100th Birthday: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment...,7416688.story

I have a great friend that is part of the on-going production of John Cage's composition in Halberstadt, Deutschland, Organ2/ASLSP (AS SLow aS Possible), a composition for organ that will end in the year 2640, Gottwillig! It began on Cage's 89th birthday, 5 Sept. 2001, and was written to last 639 years. Each note in the piece changes only after the duration of many months. A seventeenth month long pause preceded the first note! Talk about patience, perspective, and silence! Oooooommmmmmm.......

    Happy 100th Birthday Mr. Cage!

The cage response and the Warhole response, and so on, is the moment of stark contrast required to exist, in the face of..hhmm..oh..lets call it 'an undercurrent of forced Teutonic ritual'. A ritualism that may exist anywhere in any given evolved system. The joker, the fool ....as contrast, the required moment. But beyond that, if it persists, it becomes the Teutonic forced ritual itself, or it's counter in permanence, which is no less ridiculous and destructive. Thus, knowing when to let it go is part of the message it tries to impart.

To me, something like buying a Warhole painting and then shrugging and burning it, in a lighthearted forward looking mood (no emotions attached), would be the best kind of message that one could bring out in one's self and to the world.

Not because Warhole's works require burning, but because being stuck ~is~ the Teutonic moment/state... just as effectively as the Teutonic extreme itself is.

    essentially:

    --------->This has no meaning<----------

It is paradox... as is life, as is time, as is the here and now. Get used to it, if you want to live - as life is flow.

Not because Warhole's works require burning, but because being stuck ~is~ the Teutonic moment/state... just as effectively as the Teutonic extreme itself is.

    essentially:

    --------->This has no meaning<----------

It is paradox... as is life, as is time, as is the here and now. Get used to it, if you want to live - as life is flow.
This all reminds me of the time that I had a conceptual art class. I hated that class. (Example: someone would bring in a vacuum cleaner and demonstrate its male/female qualities.)

Long story short, the last class project was a giant mural. We taped these large sheets of paper together around the classroom -- like one, long 'canvass' -- and everyone got exactly one sheet to 'contribute' whatever it was they got out of the class.

When we finished, nobody had considered what was to be done with this 'art' before hand. There was talk of taking the whole thing and ceremoniously burning it.

Here comes the fun part. Since I liked my piece, I wanted to keep it.

The whole class wanted to destroy the thing except for me. (Note: my friend also didn't want to destroy it but she didn't want to stand up against the class.)

I think we sat there like that for two hours trying to work it out. But, I refused to burn, dice up, or otherwise destroy what I had created. The teacher (sadist) made the point that no one was right or wrong and seemed to enjoy the exchange (or lack thereof).

Finally, the class threw up their hands and gave me the whole thing -- to do with as I wished.

In other words... the view of the one is just as important as the view of the many. Just because the view of the many is different from the one doesn't mean they are right.

Btw, the 'art' I made was a drawing of a dragon (me) surrounded by rough waters... sitting on a island.

That was over two decades ago. Not much has changed.

    Ulli,

Prayers to your niece, you and family. Poor girl and scary. May she recover in a good way and fast.
And thank you for the smiles. Hugs

    Pris,

Dragons are a theme in my life too.
I took a mural painting class and loved it. We did free form. Anything we wanted. The class came up with another world in the form of Faerie land with all four seasons, all of the elements and the cycles of the moon and sun with galaxies. I painted a dragon in white, deep blues and deep pinks, a white owl, a few of the elements and galaxies.
We all had a hard time agreeing on the theme, but in the end we agreed to disagree and it all worked out beautifully. Hence the free form.
The main thing was to listen to ourselves, go within and create from there.

    Love

    Nora

    Love

Yes, all the best to Ulli's niece. We're all so... fragile.

Aren't dragons great? When I was younger, I was also heavily into unicorns. I used to draw them all the time and write poems about them. To this day, I still love the dreamy imagery.

Never had a dream about unicorns. I have dreamt of dragons and winged horses. Come to think of it I still do

And Pris, I really don't know if I could handle taking a class in conceptualized art. My hat is off to you.

    Love

    Nora

Wow, you've dreamt dragons and winged horses? That's wonderful! I don't think I've ever had any dreams like that -- except for daydreams.

Three of my favourite books ever are 'Dragonflight', 'Dragonquest', and 'The White Dragon' by Anne McCaffery. I read them when I was still a very impressionable teenager, and I'd lose myself in the cover art -- in particular, 'Dragonflight'.

    Here's the original cover:

Here's the front and back cover, but they've altered the overall colour, the original Red Star, and the head of the dragon which really irritates me.

Lol thanks, Nora! But, obviously, I didn't 'handle' that conceptual art class too well myself. Normally, I wouldn't have taken a class like that, but it was part of the Foundation course at Emily Carr College of Art and Design (when it was still just a measly little college lol! ).
