    Default Dept of War (DOD) Expenditures for January 2015 >$8 Billion

    Quote DOD spent $8,058,027,355+ on 163 individual contracts in January 2015

    The Pentagon issues a jumbled list of contracts every business day around 5:00PM local time. Our project distills an entire month of these contracts into an accessible form. The Department of Defense (DOD) spent at least $8,058,027,355 on 163 individual contracts during January 2015.

    General Dwight D Eisenhower:

    Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, in the final sense, is a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, and those who are cold and not clothed.

    Sorry I cannot quote the source - this came from a friend via email to me today. It is insane to do this when so many people in the USA are hungry and homeless:

    One part of President Obama’s new budget that has received little attention is the war on drugs. The White House is seeking $27.6 billion for federal drug control programs, nearly $1 billion more than last year. More than half the money will be allocated for drug law enforcement by the Pentagon, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice and the drug czar’s office. Hundreds of millions of dollars have also been requested to be spent fighting the war on drugs in Colombia, Mexico and Central America. The budget also includes a line item that would clear the path for allowing legal sales of marijuana in Washington, D.C.

    Exactly. Though I can't adequately express my disgust for those profiting from the theft, I can say the disgust is bigger than Texas!

    The military industrial complex’s new Iraq hustle - details at:
    http://www.salon.com/2015/01/19/the_...ustle_partner/

    "As Iraq War 3.0 drones on with no clear objective, defense contractors stand to make a killing on arms deals. ...profiting from the disintegrating situation there."

    Here's how it works:
    "For countries that can’t afford U.S. weaponry, Washington has the Foreign Military Finance program up its sleeve. This opens the way for the U.S. government to pay for weapons for other countries — only to “promote world peace,” of course — using your tax dollars, which are then recycled into the hands of military-industrial-complex corporations.

    Iraq’s Shopping List
    Here’s part of what the U.S. is getting ready to sell to Iraq right now:
    * 175 M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks;
    * 15 Hercules tank recovery vehicles (you can’t have a tank without the tow truck);
    * 55,000 rounds of main gun ammunition for the tanks (the ammo needed to get the biggest bang for your bucks)
    And what will all that firepower cost? Just under $3 billion.

    "Built into the contract for the new M1 tank sale is the provision that “approximately five U.S. Government and one hundred contractor representatives [will] travel to Iraq for a period of up to five years for delivery, system checkout, program support, and training.” And that isn’t going to come cheap from General Dynamics, though the five government employees may be a bargain financed by American taxpayers."
    .......

    So is it up to the citizens of the world to demand this insanity end? Or are we to bury our heads in the sand and carry on with our personal lives as best we can? Or is it best for us to visualize and feel that we live in a better world where such things do not happen? Do we hold fast to an inner focus on a 5-D kind of world where love and joy prevails? Just what is our best path through the insanities we see around us?
