Default The Passion of the Christ / movie broke me down

    Dear Avalonians

By chance, i came across a movie called " The Passion of the Christ” last eve. I was actually looking for the Royal Tenenbaums . ha.

I was raised in a catholic home and have seen these movies all my life although I do not follow any particular religion today . But the Christ figure has always been the most compelling figure for me and this movie froze me in my place! I only started watching at the scene when Pilot offered to the hungry crowd, Christ or Barabas ??
Of course it was the bankers that wanted Christ dead.

The scenes in this movie were so heartbreaking, so violent , so sad , frustrating and embarrassing to see, it almost made me sick. Embarrassing that I could be part of such a species capable of doing these horrific things to another, with joy no less, as we are seeing all over the world today in disbelief.

And the message so beautiful ,so truthful and yet so seemingly impossible .
That we are, each other !! And what we do to others, we do to ourselves. Plain ,simple yet perplexing.

We wake up today living in a world of lies, pain, misery, selfishness and ego . How sad, unloving and how barbaric we are to each other . What is going on? We have learned nothing and we have no Idea what love is . That is why I created a recent post called "define love"? I am curious how we all talk about it but don’t have a simple definition or true understanding of it.

I don’t care your religion, your philosophy, your beliefs, your opinions, your positions, you cults or whatever, if at the end of the day you cannot make the world a better place.
If you cant put a smile on someones face, hold a door, compliment someone or ask about their life and situation and how can you help etc?, then stuff whatever you think you know because you know nothing.

I know I am weak and it truly bothers me. I’m frightened of pain and addicted to comforts as many are. However, i know I’m kind and considerate in many of the things i have just mentioned. But too often, its only when I am comfortable, when I have what I want and need. I strive to become a person of more true sacrifice for others.

The other day I came out of a coffee shop with a coffee that was 1/2 done. I saw a homeless person on the steps and offered it to him and he was grateful . I truly felt bad for his situation but pleased in my giving him the coffee. Thats all fine, but its the good old EGO talking too. Its a trap and cant be avoided, but only watched and noted.

I truly hope i can get to the point when it is my only cup of coffee or dollar etc and I can give it to someone. And I feel its in this very striving, that will in turn make this a better world.

Thanks for listening and I wish you all peace and contentment each day.

    TPD

As far as I can see, there is nothing wrong with feeling good about yourself for doing a good deed, ego or not.

Greatest Quality of Knighthood... is Truth...

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time
By faith we understand things which are seen were not made of the things which are visible
