Steve Jobs wouldn't let his kids play with Ipads

It really says a lot when the creator of the iPad wouldn’t even let his kids use an iPad. When asked by New York Times reporter Nick Bilton if his kids loved the iPad, he replied:
“They haven’t used it. We limit how much technology our kids use at home.”
That’s quite the response! Among tech executives, there’s a growing trend of parents who won’t let their kids use the very technology they invent. They’ve even taken to sending their kids to Waldorf Schools where computers are nowhere to be seen and hands on learning about nature and the arts is front and center.
“My kids accuse me and my wife of being fascists and overly concerned about tech,” says Chris Anderson, CEO of 3D robotics and father of 5. “They say that none of their friends have the same rules… That’s because we have seen the dangers of technology firsthand. I’ve seen it in myself, I don’t want to see that happen to my kids.”
When it comes down to it, our electronics can be addictive, and that goes for children too. I’ve seen young children be delayed access to an iPad, and when I mean young, I mean, 2, only to have it result in a complete meltdown. It’s like taking a junkie’s junk away from him. So are we robbing our children of an opportunity, or are we opening them up to a life free of what Steve Jobs and Chris Anderson are concerned about?
I think at some level it’s important for kids to know how to use computers, but to use them with respect. We weren’t allowed free run of the television or computer (when we finally got one) when I was a kid, after all. Make sure kids get to spend plenty of time outside in nature. They might act like jerks about it now, but they’ll thank you later in life.

We started a Thai version of Waldorf here. No computers. At home he can use it for 1 hour per day. If the scumbag oligarchs did not confine and control content, the Internet could be wonderful.

Very interesting topic indeed. It puzzles me how quickly humanity transformed from a conversation loving human beings to zombies staring at the screen of a smartphone. Sometimes I tragically laugh about that most of the people are so hypnotised by their devices that wouldn't even notice bloody spaceships floating above their city. Exactly. But his greed didn't stop him from unleashing it on everyone else's kids.

The addiction part of technology and the wavelenght spit out at your kid 24/7 is the problem.

I did do that to my daughter, limited time. But guess what, two years ago, all the schools in the province have had the budget to equip schools with computers for all children. So now, they are all connected, do their homework on computer and have to have access to read whatever the teacher has given. It is part of the curriculum to have your own computer.

And then Mini comes back home and jump on Facebook. Yes, I am complaining about you Mini and therefore can do the same if you wish. (she will see I am addicted to Avalon).

My neighbours who had 4 children whose parents are both computer ingineers have limited computers to one hour per day at home and force their kid to two hours of OUTSIDE play, whatever the weather (here it can go 20 below easily in winter). They are smiling, equilibrated kids. They also eat less meat and no sugar lol.

Someone I knew quite well, a specialist of micro waves (I mean at the top up there) never had a microwave home, almost never used computers home. He explained that microwaves and most EMF will hamper the cellular development at a very precise time in the cell development and that the damages are much worst in childen because of the speed and high number of cell development.
