Default The global power elite and the world they are making

Because of human activities and methane, the glaciers melt, forests disappear, the seas run dry and cities expand. Yet these changes arriving gradually, we are not always able to measure their magnitude. With these nine photographs before/after, I'll show you how our planet has changed in a few short years or decades. These images are really impressive. When I did the translation and the add of pictures, I found these particularly representative pictures of what human beings are capable of, voluntarily or involuntarily, to take advantage of their environment.

The elite made this mess and each of them is one in a million. They are six thousand on a planet of six billions. They run our governements, our largest corporations, the powerhouses of international finance, the media, world religions, and, from the shadows, the world's most dangerous criminal and terrorist organizations and they are shaping the history of our time.

It's frightening than all of these changes were made in less than a century of time.

Moreover, I share the point of view of Bill Ryan : The elite is preparing his departure for else where for sure!

Because the effects of methane and greenhouse effect are very visible when comparing snapshots.

If you have a few minutes, I’d appreciate it if you’d drop me a line with your thoughts.

    Aral Sea :

The drying up of the Aral Sea is undoubtedly one of the greatest environmental catastrophes ever caused by humans. Until the 1960s it was the second largest inland sea in the world after the Caspian Sea, but the diversion of rivers feeding it decided by the Soviet authorities to irrigate cotton fields has caused its drying . Today, the Aral Sea had split into two , and only its northern part, again supplied with water , should survive in its current state, while the southern part will eventually disappear. These two photos are from the 2000s .

    Columbia glacier :

The Columbia glacier began to melt impressively in the 1980s. These two satellite images were taken twenty years apart : one on the left was taken during the summer of 1986, the right one in July 2014. In the interim time, almost all of the glacier has disappeared.

The dust from the Gobi Desert :

This satellite photograph shows how, in the space of a few days, the dust from the Gobi Desert is lifted by the wind and has invaded the skies of eastern China mingling with the transition to local pollution. Grain dust of the Gobi desert have been found to the United States.

    The Muir Glacier :

Left, one of the first photographs ever taken of the Muir Glacier in 1890. On the right, photographed the same point in 2005. The glacier has disappeared altogether.

Again the Muir Glacier, with two images from the same two sets of clichés.

    Tucson :

Between 1984 and 2011, the dates on which these satellite photographs were taken, the population of Tucson, Arizona, has almost doubled . This worries including experts because the drought could seriously threaten Arizona within six years.

    Riyad :

When the left image was taken in 1970, three times as many Saudis living in rural areas. In the 1990s , when the middle of the photograph was taken, this ratio was reversed. The right image dates from 2000.

    Nairobi :

Nairobi's population increased by 320 % between 1970 and 2005. The city now has about 3 million citizens.

    Singapour :

Since the left image was taken in 1973, Singapore has transformed its coastline to win building lots. The small city state now believes it can expand its territory about 25% of the area munching on the sea.

Thanks for going to the trouble of posting all this. I agree that change is happening at a very fast rate. For example every year the bees population dwindles as well, all these small changes ad up to big ones.. I beleave adaptation is key, if we hope to thrive in the future. Our current system shares the wealth of the planet, resources, technology, ideas, etc, etc, in a way that benefits only as small micro segment of the planet. From my perspective this is one of the biggest obstacles to overcome, how to incentivise countries, corporations and their leadership and benefiters to help each other, to mutually support each other rather than sceame to exploit each other..?..

We have all we need, if we put our heads together. There is more than enough land to support a population far greater than is expected, with water management systems such as desalinisation and closed loop hydroponics to name just two. The political or business will to change the paradigm is another matter though, time will tell...x... N

Thank you so much for this comment

Albert Einstein had a theory about bees. He once said,” “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination … no more men!” If the is true we will have some serious problems.

Terra forming i would suggest, as the earth and it's air composition is being changed/altered to fit "their bodies" and "they" can live here.
My take only. No evidence, but plausible i think.
Short Term memory infected/defect. Watching, feeling and recording since i recall. Recording for some one/thing else !
I care about the earth, and despise greed.

Yikes, looks like earth is well on its way to becoming like Chapterhouse!
(Chapterhouse is a fictional planet in the DUNEverse that started out earthlike,
then thanks to terraforming was converted to a wasteland desert world)

Let's hope that the corporations can sink their claws into space travel in earnest,
ensuring that the Average Joe has a chance to travel as well.

p.s. the methane thing surely is sad. it was on a lot of people's minds over the last few years.
i am glad that mr Ryan made some posts about that issue -- methane is likely the culprit in many if not most of earth's catastrophic climate changes

It's the factor that puts weight on the wheels, so to speak.
The earth can silently store a great deal of CO2 but methane, being so volatile, can cause greater change with smaller amounts of fuel over a shorter time.

    Quote http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permian...tinction_event

The Permian–Triassic (P–Tr) extinction event, colloquially known as the Great Dying or the Great Permian Extinction,[2][3] occurred about 252 Ma (million years) ago,[4] forming the boundary between the Permian and Triassic geologic periods, as well as the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras. It is the Earth's most severe known extinction event, with up to 96% of all marine species[5][6] and 70% of terrestrial vertebrate species becoming extinct.[7] It is the only known mass extinction of insects.[8][9] Some 57% of all families and 83% of all genera became extinct. Because so much biodiversity was lost, the recovery of life on Earth took significantly longer than after any other extinction event,[5] possibly up to 10 million years.[10]

There is evidence for from one to three distinct pulses, or phases, of extinction.[7][11][12][13] There are several proposed mechanisms for the extinctions; the earlier phase was probably due to gradual environmental change, while the latter phase has been argued to be due to a catastrophic event. Suggested mechanisms for the latter include one or more large bolide impact events, massive volcanism, coal or gas fires and explosions from the Siberian Traps,[14] and a runaway greenhouse effect triggered by sudden release of methane from the sea floor due to methane clathrate dissociation or methane-producing microbes known as methanogens;[15] possible contributing gradual changes include sea-level change, increasing anoxia, increasing aridity, and a shift in ocean circulation driven by climate change.

of course the Biblical timeline is more literal and much swifter than the accepted one.

ex: "Peleg", whose name means "division", is a Biblical character whose name spurs great debate. People argue that the continents divided during his lifetime, and of course others insist that the name refers only to the mass migration of humans post-deluge.
