Breakthrough to Ukraine peace in recent days, no alternative to Minsk deal - German FM (excerpt)

    Quote Published time: May 13, 2015 15:05

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier says there has been a serious breakthrough in fulfilling the Minsk peace roadmap in Ukraine. Despite any difficulties encountered, he says, the participants must press on with implementing the deal.

Steinmeier was speaking at a meeting of NATO member states diplomats in Antalya, Turkey. "Despite the fact that in two places [in eastern Ukraine] the ceasefire is still fragile, in the past few days there has been a serious breakthrough in implementing the Minsk agreements, concerning the creation of working groups," Steinmeier told the gathering.

He was referring to the decision taken on May 6 by representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE to create four working sub-groups to help implement the peace roadmap. They focus on security, political issues, economy and refugees. The political and economic sub-groups are scheduled to hold meetings in the Belarusian capital on May 16.

Poroshenko aims to regain control of Donetsk airport

    Quote May 12, 2015, 12:04 p.m. | Ukraine — by Interfax-Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has no doubt that Ukraine will regain control of the Donetsk airport currently held by the militants of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and restore its infrastructures, the presidential press service said.

But now it seems that Poroshenko don`t have the support he was told or hoping for.

Press Availability With Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov

    Quote John Kerry
    Secretary of State
    Sochi, Russia
    May 12, 2015

I’m grateful to President Putin for the significant amount of time that he made available to this discussion, for his directness, and for his very detailed explanations of Russia’s position with respect to some of these challenges, and of the ways that he believed that we have an ability to be able to work constructively together in order to resolve these problems.

I must say we found a fair amount of agreement even as Sergey has accurately disclosed that we continue to disagree on certain components of the walkup to it or certain facts, but we are both in significant agreement on the most important issue of all, which is it will be resolved by the full implementation of Minsk, and we both – all of us and other friends and allies – have responsibilities to undertake in order to effect that implementation. If and when Minsk is fully implemented, it is clear the U.S. and EU sanctions can begin to be rolled back.

But I also made clear our deep concerns regarding the situation on the ground – continued perceived violations of ceasefire in Shyrokyne and at the Donetsk airport; the continued arming, training, command and control of separate forces. And we believe that this fighting, the fighting that is taking place as a result of this – on any side, whoever has instigated it – that it has gone on for too long.

    Vladimir Putin (at 8.40 min.):

Quote Dear citizens of Russia, dear veterans, respected guests, accept my congratulations for the seventieth anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The grand victory will forever remain a glorious summit in the history of our country.

But we also remember our allies in the Anti-Hitler coalition. We are greatful to the peoples of Great Britain, France and the United States of America for their contribution to the victory.

However during the last decade, the basic principles of international cooperation are increasingly ignored. The principles that were achieved by mankind through suffering after the global trials of war. We saw attempts to establish a unipolar world. We see the strong-arm bloc coalition gaining momentum. All that undermines sustainable global development.

Quote Published on May 13, 2015 by Vice News
On May 9, Russia commemorated the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War with a military parade held in Moscow’s Red Square. In addition to approximately 16,000 troops, the newest military technology in Russia’s arsenal also participated, including the T-14 Armata battle tank.

    John Kerry:

Quote As all of you know, we have just in the last days celebrated the 70th anniversary of VE Day, the day that the United States, Russia, and our allies defeated the scourge of Nazism. And earlier today, I had the privilege of attending, with the mayor of Sochi and with Foreign Minister Lavrov, the war memorial here in Sochi where more than 4,000 of the millions of courageous then-Soviets who died in World War II are buried. And it’s a very beautiful memorial and I was very moved by the young children who were there taking part in the ceremony. And I think Sergey and I both came away from this ceremony with a very powerful reminder of the sacrifices that we shared to bring about a safer world, and of what our nations can accomplish when our peoples are working together towards the same goal.

What if Putin is Telling the Truth?

    By F. William Engdahl 15.05.2015

On April 26 Russia’s main national TV station, Rossiya 1, featured President Vladimir Putin in a documentary to the Russian people on the events of the recent period including the annexation of Crimea, the US coup d’etat in Ukraine, and the general state of relations with the United States and the EU. His words were frank. And in the middle of his remarks the Russian former KGB chief dropped a political bombshell that was known by Russian intelligence two decades ago.

Putin stated bluntly that in his view the West would only be content in having a Russia weak, suffering and begging from the West, something clearly the Russian character is not disposed to. Then a short way into his remarks, the Russian President stated for the first time publicly something that Russian intelligence has known for almost two decades but kept silent until now, most probably in hopes of an era of better normalized Russia-US relations.

Putin stated that the terror in Chechnya and in the Russian Caucasus in the early 1990’s was actively backed by the CIA and western Intelligence services to deliberately weaken Russia. He noted that the Russian FSB foreign intelligence had documentation of the US covert role without giving details.

What Putin, an intelligence professional of the highest order, only hinted at in his remarks, I have documented in detail from non-Russian sources. The report has enormous implications to reveal to the world the long-standing hidden agenda of influential circles in Washington to destroy Russia as a functioning sovereign state, an agenda which includes the neo-nazi coup d’etat in Ukraine and severe financial sanction warfare against Moscow. The following is drawn on my book, Amerikas’ Heilige Krieg.

    CIA’s Chechen Wars
Not long after the CIA and Saudi Intelligence-financed Mujahideen had devastated Afghanistan at the end of the 1980’s, forcing the exit of the Soviet Army in 1989, and the dissolution of the Soviet Union itself some months later, the CIA began to look at possible places in the collapsing Soviet Union where their trained “Afghan Arabs” could be redeployed to further destabilize Russian influence over the post-Soviet Eurasian space.

They were called Afghan Arabs because they had been recruited from ultraconservative Wahhabite Sunni Muslims from Saudi Arabia, the Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and elsewhere in the Arab world where the ultra-strict Wahhabite Islam was practiced. They were brought to Afghanistan in the early 1980’s by a Saudi CIA recruit who had been sent to Afghanistan named Osama bin Laden.

With the former Soviet Union in total chaos and disarray, George H.W. Bush’s Administration decided to “kick ‘em when they’re down,” a sad error. Washington redeployed their Afghan veteran terrorists to bring chaos and destabilize all of Central Asia, even into the Russian Federation itself, then in a deep and traumatic crisis during the economic collapse of the Yeltsin era.

In the early 1990s, Dick Cheney’s company, Halliburton, had surveyed the offshore oil potentials of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and the entire Caspian Sea Basin. They estimated the region to be “another Saudi Arabia” worth several trillion dollars on today’s market. The US and UK were determined to keep that oil bonanza from Russian control by all means. The first target of Washington was to stage a coup in Azerbaijan against elected president Abulfaz Elchibey to install a President more friendly to a US-controlled Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline, “the world’s most political pipeline,” bringing Baku oil from Azerbaijan through Georgia to Turkey and the Mediterranean.

At that time, the only existing oil pipeline from Baku was a Soviet era Russian pipeline that ran through the Chechen capital, Grozny, taking Baku oil north via Russia’s Dagestan province, and across Chechenya to the Black Sea Russian port of Novorossiysk. The pipeline was the only competition and major obstacle to the very costly alternative route of Washington and the British and US oil majors.

President Bush Sr. gave his old friends at CIA the mandate to destroy that Russian Chechen pipeline and create such chaos in the Caucasus that no Western or Russian company would consider using the Grozny Russian oil pipeline.

Graham E. Fuller, an old colleague of Bush and former Deputy Director of the CIA National Council on Intelligence had been a key architect of the CIA Mujahideen strategy. Fuller described the CIA strategy in the Caucasus in the early 1990s: “The policy of guiding the evolution of Islam and of helping them against our adversaries worked marvelously well in Afghanistan against the Red Army. The same doctrines can still be used to destabilize what remains of Russian power.”6

The CIA used a dirty tricks veteran, General Richard Secord, for the operation. Secord created a CIA front company, MEGA Oil. Secord had been convicted in the 1980s for his central role in the CIA’s Iran-Contra illegal arms and drugs operations.

In 1991 Secord, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, landed in Baku and set up the CIA front company, MEGA Oil. He was a veteran of the CIA covert opium operations in Laos during the Vietnam War. In Azerbaijan, he setup an airline to secretly fly hundreds of bin Laden’s al-Qaeda Mujahideen from Afghanistan into Azerbaijan. By 1993, MEGA Oil had recruited and armed 2,000 Mujahideen, converting Baku into a base for Caucasus-wide Mujahideen terrorist operations.

General Secord’s covert Mujahideen operation in the Caucasus initiated the military coup that toppled elected president Abulfaz Elchibey that year and installed Heydar Aliyev, a more pliable US puppet. A secret Turkish intelligence report leaked to the Sunday Times of London confirmed that “two petrol giants, BP and Amoco, British and American respectively, which together form the AIOC (Azerbaijan International Oil Consortium), are behind the coup d’état.”

Saudi Intelligence head, Turki al-Faisal, arranged that his agent, Osama bin Laden, whom he had sent to Afghanistan at the start of the Afghan war in the early 1980s, would use his Afghan organization Maktab al-Khidamat (MAK) to recruit “Afghan Arabs” for what was rapidly becoming a global Jihad. Bin Laden’s mercenaries were used as shock troops by the Pentagon and CIA to coordinate and support Muslim offensives not only Azerbaijan but also in Chechnya and, later, Bosnia.

Bin Laden brought in another Saudi, Ibn al-Khattab, to become Commander, or Emir of Jihadist Mujahideen in Chechnya (sic!) together with Chechen warlord Shamil Basayev. No matter that Ibn al-Khattab was a Saudi Arab who spoke barely a word of Chechen, let alone, Russian. He knew what Russian soldiers looked like and how to kill them.

Chechnya then was traditionally a predominantly Sufi society, a mild apolitical branch of Islam. Yet the increasing infiltration of the well-financed and well-trained US-sponsored Mujahideen terrorists preaching Jihad or Holy War against Russians transformed the initially reformist Chechen resistance movement. They spread al-Qaeda’s hardline Islamist ideology across the Caucasus. Under Secord’s guidance, Mujahideen terrorist operations had also quickly extended into neighboring Dagestan and Chechnya, turning Baku into a shipping point for Afghan heroin to the Chechen mafia.

From the mid-1990s, bin Laden paid Chechen guerrilla leaders Shamil Basayev and Omar ibn al-Khattab the handsome sum of several million dollars per month, a King’s fortune in economically desolate Chechnya in the 1990s, enabling them to sideline the moderate Chechen majority.21 US intelligence remained deeply involved in the Chechen conflict until the end of the 1990s. According to Yossef Bodansky, then Director of the US Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare, Washington was actively involved in “yet another anti-Russian jihad, seeking to support and empower the most virulent anti-Western Islamist forces.”

Bodansky revealed the entire CIA Caucasus strategy in detail in his report, stating that US Government officials participated in,
Quote “a formal meeting in Azerbaijan in December 1999 in which specific programs for the training and equipping of Mujahideen from the Caucasus, Central/South Asia and the Arab world were discussed and agreed upon, culminating in Washington’s tacit encouragement of both Muslim allies (mainly Turkey, Jordan and Saudi Arabia) and US ‘private security companies’. . . to assist the Chechens and their Islamist allies to surge in the spring of 2000 and sustain the ensuing Jihad for a long time…Islamist Jihad in the Caucasus as a way to deprive Russia of a viable pipeline route through spiraling violence and terrorism.”
The most intense phase of the Chechen wars wound down in 2000 only after heavy Russian military action defeated the Islamists. It was a pyrrhic victory, costing a massive toll in human life and destruction of entire cities. The exact death toll from the CIA-instigated Chechen conflict is unknown. Unofficial estimates ranged from 25,000 to 50,000 dead or missing, mostly civilians. Russian casualties were near 11,000 according to the Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers.

The Anglo-American oil majors and the CIA’s operatives were happy. They had what they wanted: their Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline, bypassing Russia’s Grozny pipeline.

The Chechen Jihadists, under the Islamic command of Shamil Basayev, continued guerrilla attacks in and outside Chechnya. The CIA had refocused into the Caucasus.

    Basayev’s Saudi Connection
Basayev was a key part of the CIA’s Global Jihad. In 1992, he met Saudi terrorist Ibn al-Khattag in Azerbaijan. From Azerbaijan, Ibn al-Khattab brought Basayev to Afghanistan to meet al-Khattab’s ally, fellow-Saudi Osama bin Laden. Ibn al-Khattab’s role was to recruit Chechen Muslims willing to wage Jihad against Russian forces in Chechnya on behalf of the covert CIA strategy of destabilizing post-Soviet Russia and securing British-US control over Caspian energy.

Once back in Chechnya, Basayev and al-Khattab created the International Islamic Brigade (IIB) with Saudi Intelligence money, approved by the CIA and coordinated through the liaison of Saudi Washington Ambassador and Bush family intimate Prince Bandar bin Sultan. Bandar, Saudi Washington Ambassador for more than two decades, was so intimate with the Bush family that George W. Bush referred to the playboy Saudi Ambassador as “Bandar Bush,” a kind of honorary family member.

Basayev and al-Khattab imported fighters from the Saudi fanatical Wahhabite strain of Sunni Islam into Chechnya. Ibn al-Khattab commanded what were called the “Arab Mujahideen in Chechnya,” his own private army of Arabs, Turks, and other foreign fighters. He was also commissioned to set up paramilitary training camps in the Caucasus Mountains of Chechnya that trained Chechens and Muslims from the North Caucasian Russian republics and from Central Asia.

The Saudi and CIA-financed Islamic International Brigade was responsible not only for terror in Chechnya. They carried out the October 2002 Moscow Dubrovka Theatre hostage seizure and the gruesome September 2004 Beslan school massacre. In 2010, the UN Security Council published the following report on al-Khattab and Basayev’s International Islamic Brigade:
Quote Islamic International Brigade (IIB) was listed on 4 March 2003. . . as being associated with Al-Qaida, Usama bin Laden or the Taliban for “participating in the financing, planning, facilitating, preparing or perpetrating of acts or activities by, in conjunction with, under the name of, on behalf or in support of” Al-Qaida. . . The Islamic International Brigade (IIB) was founded and led by Shamil Salmanovich Basayev (deceased) and is linked to the Riyadus-Salikhin Reconnaissance and Sabotage Battalion of Chechen Martyrs (RSRSBCM). . . and the Special Purpose Islamic Regiment (SPIR). . .

On the evening of 23 October 2002, members of IIB, RSRSBCM and SPIR operated jointly to seize over 800 hostages at Moscow’s Podshipnikov Zavod (Dubrovka) Theater.

In October 1999, emissaries of Basayev and Al-Khattab traveled to Usama bin Laden’s home base in the Afghan province of Kandahar, where Bin Laden agreed to provide substantial military assistance and financial aid, including by making arrangements to send to Chechnya several hundred fighters to fight against Russian troops and perpetrate acts of terrorism. Later that year, Bin Laden sent substantial amounts of money to Basayev, Movsar Barayev (leader of SPIR) and Al-Khattab, which was to be used exclusively for training gunmen, recruiting mercenaries and buying ammunition.
The Afghan-Caucasus Al Qaeda “terrorist railway,” financed by Saudi intelligence, had two goals. One was a Saudi goal to spread fanatical Wahhabite Jihad into the Central Asian region of the former Soviet Union. The second was the CIA’s agenda of destabilizing a then-collapsing post-Soviet Russian Federation.

    Beslan
On September 1, 2004, armed terrorists from Basayev and al-Khattab’s IIB took more than 1,100 people as hostages in a siege that included 777 children, and forced them into School Number One (SNO) in Beslan in North Ossetia, the autonomous republic in the North Caucasus of the Russian Federation near to the Georgia border.

On the third day of the hostage crisis, as explosions were heard inside the school, FSB and other elite Russian troops stormed the building. In the end, at least 334 hostages were killed, including 186 children, with a significant number of people injured and reported missing. It became clear afterward that the Russian forces had handled the intervention poorly.

The Washington propaganda machine, from Radio Free Europe to The New York Times and CNN, wasted no time demonizing Putin and Russia for their bad handling of the Beslan crisis rather than focus on the links of Basayev to Al Qaeda and Saudi intelligence. That would have brought the world’s attention to the intimate relations between the family of then US President George W. Bush and the Saudi billionaire bin Laden family.

On September 1, 2001, just ten days before the day of the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks, Saudi Intelligence head US-educated Prince Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, who had directed Saudi Intelligence since 1977, including through the entire Osama bin Laden Mujahideen operation in Afghanistan and into the Caucasus, abruptly and inexplicably resigned, just days after having accepted a new term as intelligence head from his King. He gave no explanation. He was quickly reposted to London, away from Washington.

The record of the bin Laden-Bush family intimate ties was buried, in fact entirely deleted on “national security” (sic!) grounds in the official US Commission Report on 911. The Saudi background of fourteen of the nineteen alleged 911 terrorists in New York and Washington was also deleted from the US Government’s final 911 Commission report, released only in July 2004 by the Bush Administration, almost three years after the events.

Basayev claimed credit for having sent the terrorists to Beslan. His demands had included the complete independence of Chechnya from Russia, something that would have given Washington and the Pentagon an enormous strategic dagger in the southern underbelly of the Russian Federation.

By late 2004, in the aftermath of the tragic Beslan drama, President Vladimir Putin reportedly ordered a secret search and destroy mission by Russian intelligence to hunt and kill key leaders of the Caucasus Mujahideen of Basayev. Al-Khattab had been killed in 2002. The Russian security forces soon discovered that most of the Chechen Afghan Arab terrorists had fled. They had gotten safe haven in Turkey, a NATO member; in Azerbaijan, by then almost a NATO Member; or in Germany, a NATO Member; or in Dubai–one of the closest US Allies in the Arab States, and Qatar-another very close US ally. In other words, the Chechen terrorists were given NATO safe haven.

Yet another huge diplomatic victory for Russia

By The Saker May 13, 2015

Unless you read Russian or monitor the free blogosphere, you might not have noticed this, but something big just happened in Russia: Kerry, Nuland and a large State Department delegation have traveled to Sochi were they met with Foreign Minister Lavrov and then with President Putin. With the latter they spent over 4 hours. Not only that, but Kerry made a few rather interesting remarks, saying that the Minsk-2 Agreement (M2A) was the only way forward and that he would strongly caution Poroshenko against the idea of renewing military operations.

    Welcome back to reality John!

To say that this is a stunning development would be an understatement.

For one thing, this means that the so-called “isolation of Russia” is now officially over, even for the “Indispensable Empire”.

Second, this is, as far as I know, the first official US endorsement of M2A. This is rather humiliating for the US considering that M2A was negotiated without the Americans.

Third, for the very first time the US has actually warned the Ukronazi junta against a military attack. This, at a time when the Ukronazis are in a state of bellicose frenzy and Poroshenko just promised to re-conquer not only the Donetsk Airport, but all of the Donbass and even Crimea, show that for the very first time the US and Kiev are not on the same page.

Fourth, the USA has, for the first time, declared that if M2A was implemented, EU and US sanctions would be lifted. Interestingly, the Russians were not even interested in discussing the topic of sanctions.

So what does that all mean?

    At this point, nothing much.

Americans are terrible negotiators and in every single US-Russian negotiation over the conflict in the Ukraine the Russians completely out-negotiated their American “geostrategic partners” (the quasi-official ironic Russian term describing the West) every time. What typically happens, is that Kerry caves in, then comes back to Washington and changes his tune by 180 degree. The Russians know that and the Russian media stressed that in its analyses.

Still, the USA can zig and then zag as many times as they want, reality does not zag. If anything, the recent presence of Chinese and Indian troops on the Red Square showed that the notion of “isolating Russia” is a non-starter whether Kerry & Co. accept it or not.

Then, there was the rather interesting behavior of Nuland, who was with Kerry’s delegation, she refused to speak to the press and left looking rather unhappy.

Finally, a quick check of the Imperial Mouthpieces reveals that the Imperial Propaganda Department does not really know what to make of it all.

So what is going on, really?

Honestly, this one is too early to call and, as I said, the chances for yet another US “zag” are very high.

Still, what *might* be happening is that the Americans have finally (!) figured out a few basic facts:
    1. Russia will not back down
    2. Russia is ready for war
    3. The Nazi-occupied Ukraine is collapsing
    4. Most of the world supports Russia
    5. The entire US policy towards Russia has failed
All of the above is rather obvious to any halfway competent observer, but for an Administration completely intoxicated with imperial hubris, crass ignorance and denial, these are very, very painful realities to catch up with. However, denying them might, at the end of the day, get the USA nuked. As the expression goes, if you head is in the sand, your ass is in the air.

Thus it is possible that what just happens is the first sign of a US sobering up and that what Kerry came to explore with Lavrov and Putin is some kind of face saving exit option. If that is so, then this is terminal news for Poroshenko as this means that the US has basically thrown in the towel in utter disgust with the freaks in power in Kiev.

Furthermore, this might be a sign that US military analysts have taken a very negative view of the Ukronazi changes of success in their planned “Reconquista” of the Donbass. By going to Russia and officially endorsing M2A Kerry might be sending a message to Poroshenko: forget it, it ain’t happening!

Still, I would strongly caution against any premature optimism. I consider a US “zag” a quasi-certitude. My hope is that the “zag” will be limited in magnitude and that when it happens, it will be more about face-saving exit for Obama than about a denial of reality.

What is certain though, is that Russia has won yet another battle is this long war and that all the signs are pointing at the inevitable defeat of the Empire.

the reasons kerry visited russia can only circle around speculation at the moment. though it could also be the last ultimatum chance neocons gave to putin before things heat up. recently balcans are getting activated. there is heat in moldavia and prednistroviye region with rusins and mengrel orthodox minorities. anti government movements are beefed up with freshly printed bucks all over ex soviet states. baltic goes full frontal with putin boogie man propaganda. belarus got certain eu movements going. armenia just had a major provocation followed by rioting. georgia is going full retard hosting american military exercises with general rusophobia on the rise. central asian states might have isis forces moving across etc. not looking good, especially with empire forces in ukraine now. the rogue state becomes extremely unpredictable. hope we get through this.

    In Macedonia...

Special Report on the escalating situation in Macedonia (excerpt)

    Quote May, 11, 2015 by "S.P."

By now the majority here heard of clashes in Macedonia that started on evening of May 8th.

It started with reports of sightings of unknown group of some 50 armed men around Kumanovo. Shortly after Macedonian agency INA reported that there are police forces present in the area.

The exchange of fire lasted throughout the night and the whole 9th of May. Assault rifles, snipers, grenades as reported were some of weapons used by the said armed group. It simmered down a little through the night and then continued on 10th again. As I type this on 10th in the evening reports are still coming, and often conflicting ones. First a report that says law enforcement upper handed the attackers, then after reports on fighting that continues. So, I’d take all this with a grain of salt.

Perpetrators are still an ‘unknown group’ according to most reports. Others report on UCK (KLA), some say it’s the Guard of Republic of Ilirida, some say a National Liberation Army. Some say an Albanian group from Kosovo, some say from Serbia…

While media outlets in the region were very reluctant to say who are the perpetrators, Albanians in Vienna were little less shy, they gathered in front of Macedonian embassy and chanted: “UCK, UCK” among other things… see here: (notice the ever-present USA flag too….)

Quote But let’s first establish this – regardless of which one of these groups (or more of them) are responsible – Without Americans giving an ‘OK’ no Albanian armed group would lift a finger. This is absolutely crucial. They never did nor ever will act independently of US command.

Sputnik reports on 8 police officers and 14 gunmen killed, and close to 40 people injured in clashes. This matches the reports from other outlets from the region.

    http://sputniknews.com/europe/20150510/1021966941.html

So let’s first look in little more detail what happened in Macedonia before ‘zooming out’ to get a bigger picture and look at the background of these events.

More detailed report on one web portal, by the hour (from May 10th):

    http://www.nspm.rs/hronika/od-jutros...-kumanovu.html

I will translate some of the points from the long article below.

Helicopters and UAVs in the air above the conflict zone, according to Macedonian media

12:15 – Clearing of area in progress, sniper fire is heard

13:35 death toll rose to eight police officers, more than 30 injured

In Kumanovo, sporadic gunshots are heard since morning; burned houses; four police officers are wounded. Number of killed police officers has risen to eight. Day of mourning proclaimed in Macedonia.

14:18 the arrested terrorists were arrested earlier today at the investigative judge, as reported by regional TV N1

14:25 – Albanian politician: Time for unification of Albanians

Albanian politician, leader of the List for natural (Greater) Albania, Koco Danaj, claims that for “war in Kumanovo,” in settlements inhabited by Albanians, the standing government is to blame; considers that the time has come for the unification of Albanians.

14:43 – Police destroyed a car bomb in informal settlements

Macedonian police during anti-terrorist action in Kumanovo destroyed a car bomb, which was full of explosives, Macedonian media reported, citing sources from the security services.

15:45 – Kotevskiin: The arrested terrorist leaders from Kosovo

Plan of armed terrorist group was an attack on several government and civilian targets, admitted some of arrested individuals, confirmed a spokesman for the Macedonian Interior Ministry Ivo Kotevski.

Kotevski confirmed that the police action eliminated one of the most dangerous terrorist groups in the Balkans, reports portal mkd.mk.

    17:51 – identified terrorist leaders

Interior Ministry spokesman Ivo Kotevski said at a press conference that the police action, which began on Saturday morning is now completed; a terrorist group which numbered more than 40 people, eliminated and neutralized.

The leaders of this group were, according to him, the notorious Muhammad Krasniqi called ‘commander of Malisheva’, Mirsad Ndrecaj ‘Commander of Nato’, Sami Uksini ‘Commander Sokoli’, Beg Rizaj alias ‘Commander Begu’ and Dene Shehu alias ‘Juniku’.

Kotevski said that they are Albanians from Kosovo and are associated with the formation of numerous terrorist and extremist groups in the region, that is, he said, are registered as founders of paramilitary structures.

19:19 – Leaders of terrorists were bodyguards Ahmeti and Haradinaj

The leaders of the terrorist group broken Dene Shehu and Beg Rizaj were bodyguards of leaders of the ruling Macedonian party Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti and Hague indictee Ramush Haradinaj, transmitted Macedonian media.

Albanian media report that the Shehu as a member of the KLA took part in the fighting in Kosovo in 1999 and Macedonia in 2001, after which he was a bodyguard of Ahmeti, and was often seen with other officials of the party.

Beg Rizaj, was a member of the KLA in areo of Dukađinina in Kosovo, led by Ramush Haradinaj. After the war in Kosovo, he was a bodyguard of Haradinaj.

Meanwhile, this is circling on Social Media and some news sites:

“Our editorial statement that reached us, send Hamdi Ndrecaj commander known as Panther. Here is a statement as follows:

    APPEAL: Guerrilla Republic of Illyrida

Seeing increased tensions of the fascist monster state of FYROM, I’m seeking urgent that all comrades, and all Albanians who serve the state apparatus of the Slavo-Macedonians, quickly take off the uniforms of this country and fascist uniform slavomakedonski police camera that the blood of our sons washes the streets of our ethnic occupied territories.

So please for the last time, to return to the right path, the path that is happiness (the hope) of the Albanian people and not be part of the monstrous state apparatus. We are obliged to tell you that we don’t want killing of brothers in any form, even though that is what someone wants.

If you do not want to join us in our just cause, then we plead that you do get in our way, the revolution will begin soon, and that is why this is our last address, as all who wear the uniform of the slav.maked.policija army and their weapons will have treat like they’re the slavomakedonci (police, military)

Guard of the Republic of Illyrida, GRI

Other interesting thing – Some 700 hundred Albanian refugees already crossed border with Serbia fleeing from conflict. I say interesting, because they were equally close to Kosovo and could also choose motherland Albania. They obviously considered Serbia to be ‘the best option’.

Also, an appeal from terrorist UCK (known as KLA in the West) appeared in Albanian media (Telegrafi.com):

“This scenario is directed against the Albanian people, and this is intimidating introduction to the ethnic cleansing of Albanians and the expulsion of people from homes. We invite barbarian formations to withdraw from Kumanovo and leave peaceful citizens alone. Albanians are accustomed to this kind of scenarios by Serbo-slavic barbarians.” – said in a statement of the KLA from this morning as transfer Albanian media.

“Failure to comply with the conclusions of the Ohrid agreement in 2001 forced the Albanians to defend themselves. We express our condolences to the families of Albanians who were killed, and at the same time we call for caution, because we need to be prepared for all scenarios that are prepared by Slovenian occupators” – concludes the statement.
Quote In the meantime, ‘the Guard of Republic of Illirida’ and NLA made another announcement (as reported by several online Albanian/Macedonian and Serbian outlets):

In the proclamation that the “Guard” published, all Albanian territories and the international community were informed that all Albanian groups and military units of the National Liberation Army are starting to act as one body, for the establishment of the Republic ILIRIDA.

This group has asked the international community to force Macedonia and her armed forces to stop using military helicopters against the NLA. (I couldn’t make this up even if I tried)

    – Otherwise, we will be forced to take proportional measures, which are in strict violation of international conventions of war – said NLA.

Albanians have pointed out that their aim is to create a so-called Republic of ILIRIDA.

    – If the leadership of Macedonia, as a counterfeit creation, continues to act repressively with it’s state apparatus, we are ready to brake apart, if necessary, not only Macedonia, but also the whole of the Balkans inhabited by Albanians, because the international factor leaves us no other choice – said in a statement she signed commander Hamdi Ndrecaj. (guy on the pics: http://www.dokaz.mk/ova-e-liderot-na...retsaj-panter/ )

Serbian special police forces of “Жандармерија” as well as anti-terrorist unit “ПТЈ” were sent into border region near Macedonia on 9th as a precaution if some of the insurgents try to cross the border.
Quote Now another interesting news. Yesterday on 9th of May this showed up:

    http://www.pravda.rs/2015/05/09/spre...a-kroz-srbiju/

    http://www.kurir.rs/crna-hronika/eks...clanak-1776005

“German citizen, was arrested at the border crossing Batrovci, when the police in his car brand “Passat” found 10 packages of 100 pieces of electronic detonators for explosives.”

(this is a border crossing between Serbia and Croatia). He was entering Serbia. However, still no follow-up on this.

So, now that we’ve seen what is taking place in Macedonia, I would go back to some previous events that took place there and put it all into context. This, of course, is not an isolated or spontaneous event, just like the ‘colored revolution’ taking place there at the moment isn’t spontaneous.

All Albanian leaders mentioned by name in these reports were at some point connected to the KLA. Whether this was in 2001 conflict in Macedonia and south of Serbia, ‘98/’99 war on Kosovo or any of separate attacks afterwards, they were connected to some of these.

KLA is, of course, another bastard child of the American Empire. And has, just like her other children several names and sub-groups. (i.e. Al-qaeda, ISIS, FSA, Boko Haram and so on…) So, we have KLA (UCK), some Guard of so called Republic of Ilirida, then some Liberation Army. All in fact are one and the same, same leaders, same goals, and with one main patron – the USA.
Quote They are USA’s ‘wild card’ in the Balkans, an ‘Ace from the sleeve’. America holds this entire area in the state of frozen conflict. With the snap of the fingers this can become an all out war all over again. Bosnia, Southern Serbia/Kosovo and Metohija, Macedonia, Montenegro… any area – you name it, and they have it ready to blow.

Now in this possible new conflict in Macedonia (with a strong possibility of spreading into Serbia, if needed be) there are roughly speaking, three ‘sides’ – Albanian, Serbian and Macedonian. Neither of three can ‘win’, there can only be losers. We will now walk the path that the USA put in front of us and hope not to step on a mine. Or if we do, then hope we step on as little mines as possible.

There are already appeals coming from the ‘international community’ saying that there must be an end to the violence. Now, that’s very noble indeed, but it’s only a shame these appeals are arriving at the wrong address. EU should try appealing to Washington, if they are really sincere in wanting to stop this.

So, this conflict it totally out of hands of either of the governments of the countries in region. Each of them has a puppet government in place and the ‘merry crew’ that started shooting few days ago, works for the same boss as those governments. In other words, the conflict will grow depending on how much USA wants it to grow. Is the goal just stopping the possible Turk stream? Is it directed at destabilizing the region and thus giving a warning to all parties involved – Macedonians to stop dreaming of deals that do not have the Empire’s blessing and for Serbia to stop flirting with Russia? Or to explain the Greeks that your tourist season can really suck if you have a war next to your border. Who would dare fly there? Nobody wants another MH17. Was this a ‘backup Ukraine’ if fighting there slows down too much? Or is this just a way the Empire says ‘Happy Victory Day!’

Or is the whole deal just a series of false flag attacks directed by the current gov.? This is a popular theory in Macedonia, spread mostly by the opposition. The only problem is – no one of Macedonians controls the KLA, USA does. And USA already picked their new government – and it’s not the current one.

Now don’t mistake this for some kind of a supportive statement aimed at current government of FRYOM. Gruevski is, by all accounts very corrupt and with ton of affairs/scandals in his belt – very wrong man to head your government. But like the armed conflict that will have no winner, same can be said for current political struggle there. We have one set of stooges trying to replace other set of stooges. A corrupt puppet of the West, Gruevski, getting replaced by the slimy puppet of the West, Zaev. The new stooge might even be worse. Why? Well, common sense tells you that if USA is using CIA front groups to install a new puppet in place of their old puppet, that means that they expect the new one to be even more servile and obedient. USA definitely counts on having something to gain from installing a new toy politician there. For the common citizen of Macedonia, however, there is nothing to gain from this ‘change’. Example of this from Ukraine – who would you like to have as head of the government: Poroshenko, Turcinov or Yatsenuk. Awesome choices, right!?

Just listening to Zaev speaking you’ll hear how hollow it all sounds. Same BS like when Porosenko was promising prosperity to Ukrainian masses. But add to it a massive support from western owned media – and voilà, we have a winner. Not only that, but you will also bring sheeple out on the streets and have them grabbing each other’s throats, fighting for ‘their champion’.
Quote So, it’ll be good to ‘tune your antennas’ when receiving the coverage of this crisis from western media as ‘tone’ of it can tell a lot about the stance that State Department & Co. will take on it. Even if it doesn’t mention State Dept. at all.

When you saw, after an hour of downing of MH17 , headlines that said >>PUTIN’S MISSILE!!<<, you didn’t really have to wait for separate, official statements of NATO governments. If CNN starts reporting about the ‘use of excessive force on freedom loving, democracy-admiring peaceful citizens, you’re in for a bad period Macedonia. And if you see a headline like this:

    Quote then you’re really screwed.
Quote Albanian media, like the outlet ‘Koha Ditore’, already started playing the ‘Milosevic card’ on Gruevski, just like they played ‘Hitler card’ on Milosevic (which was kinda stupid, as Hitler actually supported the greater Albania project). Now, there was a similar ‘show of force’ by the KLA just recently (of which I will write further down in this post) where ~50 armed men took a border post at the village of Gosice. Only that time there were no victims, other than a few beaten-up police officers. Many called that event a false flag. Claiming that the current government organized it in order to deflect attention from themselves and to bring dissent into Macedonian and Albanian public. To make them direct their discontent toward each other, instead at government. And I have to agree that it had many symptoms of a false flag op. Maybe it was a ‘double false flag’ made by the accusers so they can accuse the accused (some of you are probably thinking of the ‘keanu reevs meme’ right now, but let’s remain serious for a moment). Whatever the case was back then, now it serves to ‘prove that all this is a set up’.

And now it gets interesting. Now the opposition blames every action of the armed groups on the current government!

And it looks like the good ol’ US of A took some notes while watching those polite green men in Crimea in action. Spreading dis-info and confusion and contradicting information to paralyze everyone trying to respond. Meanwhile some real work is getting done on the ground. So this “it’s all an act”, serves as some kind of anesthesia – ‘don’t worry everyone, it’s just the current gov. trying desperately to stay in power’. The same mantra is repeated by some outlets on the Serbian side too – ‘hey no need to secure the border, it’s just an act by the government’. It’ll all simmer down once all these affairs and scandals are forgotten. But by looking at who are the most vocal proponents of this ‘it’s all nothing’ mantra, you will trace them back to CIA and Soros funded front groups, also.
Quote Now, take a step back and have a look at who’s running the show here. We have KLA (run exclusively by the USA), mass media, run by the USA, NGOs (USAID, NED, Freedom House, Open Society Foundation….) again from the same source. And then we have two sides ‘fighting for power’ – both USA puppets along with the current governments in the region (Serbia, Albania).

So, some foul play is definitely taking place, and all this might really be some theatrics. But NOT directed by one of the sides trying to take power in Macedonia, but by the USA.
Quote But these tensions were present almost without interuptions for the past 15+ years. And every month or so a smaller incident would take place, just to not let the ‘frozen conflict’ project ‘melt away’.

About the origins of KLA, their leaders, ties with USA and NATO there are many articles written. Without even trying hard you can find all the information needed online. So, I’ll just focus on recent incidents tied to one that just happened.

As reported by KM Neswpapers last month:

“KLA negotiates in Brussels, kills in Macedonia” (http://www.kmnovine.com/2015/04/t_21.html )

“Macedonian police reported that about 40 well-armed and masked men with insignia of the terrorist KLA, on the night between Monday and Tuesday, stormed the border post of “Gošince” on the border between Macedonia and Kosovo and Metohija. Then they tied up and beaten the police officers while taking it all on camera.

They captured four policemen, said Assistant Minister of Interior Ivo Kotevski.

Through an interpreter who spoke bad Macedonian, lider of the group addressed the policemen with words – “we are the KLA, nor Ahmeti nor Gruevski can save you. We want our country and we do not want any of Ohrid negotiations,” said Kotevski.

According to the first accounts and operational information a terrorist group in Macedonia came from Kosovo.

However, right after, followed the attacks by pro-Western parties, various NGOs and members of the illegal, paramilitary movement of shqiptar separatists who claim to want peace. That same vocabulary which they used to hide their true intentions before the start of massive terrorist attacks on Serbian police, civilians and military. So did a former member of the so-called. “National Liberation Army” (NLA) Abedin Zimberi, who lives in Lipkovski region, say that ‘in this area there are no armed persons’, announced american Radio Free Europe in Macedonian language.”

Anyway, border Post Gošince located above Kumanovo, on the border with Kosovo is in the immediate vicinity ofthe post Tanusevci, and those were two points which were attacked first in 2001, when members of the KLA in the area declared free territory...
Quote “In Macedonia, it is speculated that this spring could bring new movements among extremist Albanian groups fueled by images of “natural Albania” and appeals from ISIL...Geopolitical analysts point to the fact that with the new project of Russia “Turkish Stream”, Macedonia became an important hub. Stubborn Gruevski rejects all proposals to change the name of the state, and like Orban, shows more interest in cooperation with the eastern partners and fewer worries for dissatisfaction with Western states and institutions. Many local analysts argue that this is the background of current developments and attempts to destabilize Macedonia. The opposition claims that this is just an excuse for authoritarian methods.”
Quote Many reports from November to late Febriary in many media outlets spoke of “massive Albanian exodus”. Now, it should be kept in mind that all nationalities live equally bad in the region. Serbs and Macedonians are in the same, hard situation, whether they live on territory of Serbia and Kosovo or Macedonia. And yet, Albanians make up overwhelming majority 95+% in this ‘big exodus’. First reactions from Macedonians and Serbs were – “they know something that we don’t know.” “War is about to start this spring.”

Why would they know? Well once the members of armed extremist groups got their marching orders, it spread throughout the (very close) community. And why would you, otherwise, choose the middle of the winter to go on such a risky adventure? -a tip: it was urgent to leave!

If Novorussians got the memo from State Department that a war is coming to their neighbourhood, they’d probably have some of their family sent away (to Russia or elswhere), even before the actual shooting started.
Quote And, of course, everyone kept cheering for Russia. Because if the Russians don’t win this, we won’t even have a fighting chance. If they do however, there’s hope. Even if that means another war that NATO will start in the Balkans. The sole fact that they are destabilizing Macedonia or Serbia or Greece means that we still have a ‘pulse’. It means that they still have something to ‘shatter’. I’d be more worried if everything was quiet here – that would mean that we are way beyond the point of no return, that there are no free people left here. And for my brothers and sisters in Macedonia and the region – we just have to ride out this storm.

    From wikipedia:

Quote In 1996 the British weekly The European carried an article by a French expert stating that "German civil and military intelligence services have been involved in training and equipping the rebels with the aim of cementing German influence in the Balkan area. (...) The birth of the KLA in 1996 coincided with the appointment of Hansjoerg Geiger as the new head of the BND (German secret Service). (...) The BND men were in charge of selecting recruits for the KLA command structure from the 500,000 Kosovars in Albania. Former senior adviser to the German parliament Matthias Küntzel tried to prove later on that German secret diplomacy had been instrumental in helping the KLA since its creation.

James Bissett, Canadian Ambassador to Yugoslavia, Bulgaria and Albania, wrote in 2001 that media reports indicate that "as early as 1998, the Central Intelligence Agency assisted by the British Special Air Service were arming and training Kosovo Liberation Army members in Albania to foment armed rebellion in Kosovo. (...) The hope was that with Kosovo in flames NATO could intervene ..."[26][clarification needed] According to Tim Judah, KLA representatives had already met with American, British, and Swiss intelligence agencies in 1996, and possibly "several years earlier" and according to The Sunday Times, "American intelligence agents have admitted they helped to train the Kosovo Liberation Army before NATO's bombing of Yugoslavia".Intelligence agents denied, however, that they were involved in arming the KLA.
    The New Yorker, may, 2013:

Quote In December, 2007, Del Ponte stepped down as the lead prosecutor, saying that it was “time to return to normal life.” She soon published a memoir, “Madame Prosecutor,” in which she recounted her successes in chasing Italian mobsters, Rwandan genocidaires, and Serbian generals. But she fumed about her inability to make charges stick against the K.L.A. The Limaj and Haradinaj investigations were “the most frustrating” part of her time in The Hague—and proof that “impunity shrouds powerful political and military figures” in Kosovo. She voiced her suspicion that the K.L.A. had trafficked the organs of prisoners, and offered an account of her team’s visit to the yellow house.

Del Ponte told me that “the international community” had shown a “fear-driven reluctance to apply the law” in Kosovo, adding that the United States had displayed “no political will to find out the real truths.” The K.L.A. had been a reliable ally of the Americans during the war, but it struck Del Ponte as hypocritical for the U.S. to ignore possible crimes by the group’s leaders, given the U.S. condemnation of Serbian misconduct. She also felt that allowing alleged perpetrators of war crimes to achieve leadership positions in Kosovo undermined the country’s prospects for stability.
    Antiwar, may, 2001:

Quote One has to credit President Trajkovski with understanding other Balkan leaders have lacked, though. As soon as the war broke out, he flew to Washington to ask for US support. He knows that only those who created the situation in the first place have the power to stop it.

Washington saved the original UCK ("Kosovo Liberation Army" – KLA) from total destruction in the fall of 1998, then went to war on its side and occupied Kosovo on its behalf. Only then, and not a moment sooner, did the Albanian attacks in Presevo valley and Macedonia begin. While the Presevo KLA were armed and organized with the purpose of undermining Milosevic’s Serbia – if confessions of the CIA are to be believed – what purpose did the Macedonian branch of the KLA have? Even if one makes a claim that Washington was so completely blindsided it missed the Albanian plan for territorial conquest, surely it does not take this much time to put the two and two together? Unless it is in American government’s interest not to…

Operation "Clean Field"; how South Ossetia was attacked.

    Vadim Stolz (2008)

A Trap for Russia. U.S Neoliberals and Ukrainian Fascists Behind Operation “Clean Field”

Quote This is a transcript of an interview with Vadim Stolz (VS), chairman of the international editorial board of burtsev.ru – a group of investigative journalists, affiliated with the Internet weekly Left Russia (left.ru). The interview was taken on August 13 by Natasha Barch (NB), member of the Moscow chapter of burtsev.ru. Vadim Stolz spoke on the telephone from Azerbaijan.

NB. Vadim, what can you tell about those who conceived and prepared the genocidal attack against the Ossetian people by the Georgian army?

VS. We believe that this conspiracy matured by the spring of 2008 in the triangle between Senator McCain's campaign, the former members of Bob Gates's“supersecret group” of 1989-91, and the representatives of the clandestine Banderovite center in the Main Directorate of Military Intelligence of Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

NB. Could you be more specific and give us details and names?

VS. OK. First, I should mention Dick Cheney's VP Office as a vital link between McCain's campaign and the executive power. In McCain's campaign we identify two key individuals: Randy Scheunemann and Robert Kagan.

Scheunemann is McCain's senior advisor on international affairs; he also owns a lobbying firm, hired by Saakashvili to lobby Georgia's membership in Nato.

In 2002 Scheunemann founded the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq (2002) and became a leading lobbyist for the US war against that country. He took part in the falsification of US intelligence on WMD in Iraq and in organizing its puppet government. He was close to the notorious Ahmed Chalabi of the Iraqi National Council. Chalabi served as the main disinformation source for the CIA and the Pentagon and provided them with deniability when the scam became evident. It is possible that Scheunemann worked with the “former” high-ranking CIA officer Fritz Ermarth in this disinformation operation. At that time Ermarth was on the pay of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), one of the biggest contractor for the Pentagon, the CIA, and the FBI, with Robert Gates on its board and deeply involved in the aggression against Iraq. One of SAIC's contracts was to payroll the Iraqi puppet government hastily put together by Washington. [Fritz Ermarth serves as a liaison between a group of former Soviet intelligence officers behind the front company Far West LLC and right wing cabals in the US military-industrial complex and the political class – Ed.]

As to Robert Kagan, he is McCain's “informal” advisor from the far-right Atlantic elites and their fashionable ideologue who peddles a return to Western imperialism of the pre-WWI period. His wife (Victoria Nuland) is the US representative to NATO. They live in Brussels.

Together with William Kristol, Kagan co-founded the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) that has become a cheerleader and a flag-bearer for protofacist military-political cabal that includes neocons, ultra right-wing Republicans, ethnic post-Nazis elements, and Likudniks, aching for world domination.

The individuals from the “top secret group” who participated in the latest conspiracy in the Caucasus are Robert Gates, Condi Rice, Ermarth, and Eric Edelman, who works for Gates as the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. This is an ideologically cohesive group of veterans of the secret war against the SU and Russia.

We believe that the key role in the conspiracy was played by Ukrainian military intelligence, represented by its informal chiefs: generals Vladimir Filin (b. Vladimir Vladimirovich Litovchenko) and Alexei Likhvintsev (b. Alexei Alexeevich Kolosovskii)

Ukrainian generals who were involved in the US-Ukrainian-Georgian “Operation Clean Field”: Vladimir Filin (left) and Alexei Likhvintsev (Likhvintsev's photo is 20 year old)

[Major-General Vladimir Filin has many faces. In addition to his duties in the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, he is a vice-chairman of the “consulting” company Far West LLC (formerly Far West LTD) with head-quarters in Dubai. This company serves as a commercial front for an anti-Russian alliance of the intelligence services of the United States, Britain, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, and some other countries. Filin also posits as “political scientist” in two Russian publications that belong to Far West LLC: Forum.msk.ru and Pravda.info. Until recently he and his FarWest partners also published in Zavtra, Russia's main “nationalist” weekly that he financially supported. Another of Filin's faces is the Brazilian businessman F. T. Carvallo, who owns several ethanol factories and recently entered into a partnership with George Soros's ethanol interests in Brazil. Ed. ]

According to our sources in Ukraine, Filin and Likhvintsev represent the “Banderovite Center” in the Defense Ministry of Ukraine. [Bavderovites – Ukrainian fascists. Ed. ]

Their partners are: Rt. Colonel of Russian military intelligence Anton Surikov (Mansur Nathoev), General-Major Ruslan Saidov (b. Ruslan Sadulaev), advisor to Ruslan Mirzaev, defense minister of Uzbekistan, and the head of the illegal external intelligence service of the Chechen Republic. Also I have mention the Saudi Prince Rasheed, president of Far West LLC and a relative of Prince Turki al-Faisal. This third group of shadow intelligence operatives has no independent political significance. They are trusted agents of the Atlantists, Saudis, Panturkists, and Ukrainian nationalists.

NB. What can you say about the history of this conspiracy?

VS. Politically speaking, the Georgian assault on South Ossetia is a new phase of what we call “Barbarossa-3” -- the project to dismember Russia after the pattern of dismembering the Soviet Union and taking control over its natural resources and nuclear arsenal. Before the spring of 2008 the main focus of Farwest was the blackmail of Russian leadership, in particular, a group of siloviki around Igor Sechin. Ukrainian military intelligence even created a special department “R,” manned by former Soviet GRU officers, to collect dirt on Sechin's and other groupings of Russian highest bureaucracy and business. The idea was to fan the internal struggle between them, perhaps, even provoking a coup in Moscow and destroying Russia from inside. Putin was either to be assassinated or made a hostage, a puppet of the Sechin group. In the end, Putin was able to defeat these plans by playing the old game of “good cop” and “bad cop” (Dmitry Medvedev and Sergei Ivanov). The transfer of power to Medvedev was smooth. The literary document of that struggle is the book Third Barbarossa by Anton Baumgarten. Its main victim – Lieutenant-General Alexander Bulbov, head of the Operational Department of the Federal Service for Control Over the Trafficking of Narcotics, and his officers, who took “preventive measures” against Farwest. They were arrested in the fall of 2007 and, despite the protests of the Prosecutor General's Office, remain in prison on the fake charges brought against them by Sechin's ally Alexander Bastrykin, the chairman of the Investigation Committee at the Russian Prosecutor General's Office.

A new phase in the secret war against Russia began when the failure to exploit the transfer of presidential power in the Kremlin for creating chaos became apparent and the Republicans were facing defeat in the 2008 presidential elections. In this new phase, the central place was assigned to the “orange” regimes of Saakashvili and Yushchenko. Their role was to provoke a military crisis with Russia that could be used to convince the “old Europe” that a new cold war with Russia was inevitable, to rally them around the United States and to remove any objections for a speedy integration of Georgia and Ukraine into Nato. No less important was the calculation to boost McCain's faltering bid for presidency. In this respect, it is noteworthy that, according to many observers, Robert Gates was involved in the “October surprise” conspiracy of 1980 that brought Reagan and Bush to the White House. A number of Western commentators have pointed to this parallel with the Georgian attack.

There were also larger considerations. According to Kagan's proposal for a new imperialism, the United Nations must be dissolved and replaced by a “league of democracies,” which will defend “civilization” against a “league of autocracies.” It goes without words that Russia (and China) belongs to the last. It follows that the Atlantists need a “new cold war” against Russia in order to cement the ultra imperialistalliance, called “the West.” In Kagan's vision, the system of the international law will be swept aside, leaving a “clean field,” as it were, for an armageddon between the forces of Western light and Eastern darkness. Kagan dreams about the return to the pre-WWI epoch, when Western imperialists, blissfully ignorant of decadent political correctness, whacked “savages” and “barbarians” left and right. This time the “barbarians” will be called a “league of dictators” who threaten the liberties of the “civilized mankind.” Kagan calls all this “the return to history and the end of dreams.” Judging from the powerful publicity that this fascist crap enjoys in the West, Kagan can be seen as the lead ideologue of the Atlantic and post-Nazi elites. “Operation Clean Field” has ideological roots in Kagan's doctrine. In Saakashvili's speeches, Georgia is portrayed as “the bastion of civilization” against “Asiatic slavery.” Georgia's official discourse is full of similar racist nonsense.

NB. U.S. neocons and the ideological sources of the Georgian genocide against the Ossetian people is a very important topic for analysis and we will be writing about it. But what can you tell about the pre-history of “Operation Clean Field”?

VS. Some time ago we published the information, based on our sources in Ukraine's ministry of defense, that in the fall of 2007 General Vladimir Filin was re-assigned from the Special Department “R” to “coordinate” the activities of Ukrainian and Georgian military intelligence. In practice, this meant that Filin controlled the flow of Ukrainian intelligence about Russian military to Georgia. Georgian intelligence services were not adequate for this task and had to rely on Ukrainians. Filin has experienced intelligence cadres, many of who worked for the Soviet GRU, and a strong operational network in southern Russia and in Moscow. Filin also has sources in the Russian Ministry of Defense, the FSB, and other state agencies. Filin and his Farwest partners developed these sources through what is called “commercial recruitment,” or the partnership in criminal activities like narcotrafficking and illegal arms trade. One can say that, as far as human intelligence was concerned, “Operation Clean Field” was supported by Ukrainian military intelligence. The rest was provided by the U.S. technical intelligence, deployed around the city of Gori and elsewhere.

According to our German sources, in mid-March 2008 Robert Kagan had his first meeting with the leadership of Far West LLC – Vladimir Filin, Ruslan Saidov, and Anton Surikov. They were introduced to Kagan in Brussels by the former high-ranking CIA officer Fritz Ermarth, presently of the Nixon Foundation. This meeting established a channel of communication between FarWest and the foreign policy and secret service elements behind McCain's campaign. Then, in May, Filin began his public nuclear blackmail of Russia, hinting that Ukraine's military had concealed some nuclear weapons in violation of the Budapest agreement of 1995. He also continued to demonize German social-democrats by comparing former Chancellor Schroeder and foreign minister Steinmeier to Nazis, and the Russian-German pipeline project Nord Stream to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. 1

NB. Could Filin raise the theme of Ukraine's re-nuclearization without the approval from Washington?

VS. This is out of question. Filin's statements were obviously sanctioned by Dick Cheney's people and suggested to him by someone from the MacCain campaign, most likely Kagan or Scheunemann. This is evident from what happened next. In May, Bush goes to Berlin and tells Merkel that Ukrainians are determined to have the Bomb if Germans do not approve their membership in NATO. After meeting with Bush, Merkel goes to Kiev, where GUR (military intelligence) has prepared for Yushchenko and the National Security Council a draft of the declaration about Ukraine exiting the Budapest Treaty and no longer bound to remain a non-nuclear-weapon state. In Kiev, Merkel reportedly softens up on the Nato issue but convinces Yushchenko to wait with the declaration. Meanwhile, Ukrainian press respond to Left.ru publications with a lively discussion of Ukraine's nuclear status. Soon the communist deputy Leonid Grach makes an official inquiry about Ukraine's alleged violation of the Budapest Treaty. He writes to Yushchenko and also to the US Ambassador William Taylor. 2 While Russian press continue to pretend that nothing happens, the Moscow mayor Luzhkov repeats his provocative statements about the Crimea and no less provocative anti-Ukrainian publications come out from the Surkov-Belkovskii stable of shady “political scientists.” 3 Passions begin to rise on both sides. This is just what the sponsors of “Operation Clean Field” need.

Finally, a few days before the Georgian attack, Prince Rasheed [president of Far West LLC – Ed.], Saidov, Filin, and Surikov come to the United States, apparently to make last arrangements with the political sponsors of the operation and Gates's people from the DIA. From the United States, Filin flies directly to Georgia. According to our sources, in Gori his role was to prevent a non-sanctioned destruction of the strategic Rok Tunnel by the Georgians.

After the first battalions of 58th Army have reached Tskhinvali, Filin moves to the Kodor Gorge in Abkhazia. We believe that his role there was two-fold. In the situation when the Georgian defeat was imminent he had to provide for a safe evacuation of the Ukrainian military specialists and make sure that the Abkhazians take under their control the entire Gorge. This last and most important task has strategic significance for the plans of Farwest and his Atlantist and Pan-Turkist sponsors. The Kodor Gorge is a bridge between the Abkhazians and their ethnic relatives – the Adygei (Cherkes) of the Northern Caucasus. Their organization “The Cherkes Congress” and the Turkish Grey Wolves envision the creation of the “Greater Cherkessia” as a part of the Pan-Turkist empire of “The Great Turan.” Anton Surikov (Mansur Nathoev) is thought to be in charge of the security service of the “Chechen Congress” and their liaison with the Grey Wolves in Turkey.

NB. If your account is correct Filin had actually helped the Russian army. Why did they want to keep the Tunnel open?

VS. It is because getting the Russians into Georgia was the main political objective of “Operation Clean Field,” at least for its American sponsors and the Ukrainians, if not for Saakashvili. They just could not imagine that the Georgian army disintegrate that fast. Their strategic goal was to draw Russia into a protracted war, as exhausting and bloody as possible, with big losses of life among civil population and chaos spreading over the entire Caucasus and beyond, into Russia's interior. Do not forget that a genocidal attack was planned against Abkhazia as well. The Georgian war plans, captured by the Russian army, show the encirclement of the Abkhazian forces and most of its population. It is likely that the main concentration of Ukrainian military specialists was in Abkhazia's Kodor Gorge rather than around Tskhinvali. But the Russian army did not get bogged down in Tskhinvali and the lightning speed of its advance stunned U.S. military experts. Even the use of Ukrainian specialists did not help the Georgian army. According to our information, Ukrainian SAMs, manned by Ukrainian crews, downed all four aircraft lost by the Russians. But this was of little significance for the outcome of this war. Perhaps, the loss of a Tu-22 strategic bomber had slowed down somewhat the advance of our troops, because we began to use aviation with more caution. But as soon as the Georgians were dislodged from their positions on the heights around Tskhinvali, we began rolling fast towards Gori. Facing the Russian “blitzkrieg,” Filin evacuated the Ukrainians from the Kodor Gorge. I believe this was a part of their minimum plan anyway. No one could seriously count on Georgia's final victory. They used Georgia as expendable country, as a bait and hook for Russia. Ukraine was entirely different business. Filin's lobbying for Ukraine's nuclear status had begun in anticipation of a Russian-Georgian war that he helped to provoke.

NB. Could we have avoided biting their bait?

VS. No chance. They knew that Russia could not sit and watch a genocide in South Ossetia. So they pushed Saakashvili to this criminal and stupid adventure. Their goal was not to occupy South Ossetia. Americans do not care about this. Otherwise, the first thing they would have done was to destroy the Rok Tunnel. Instead, they began murdering the peacekeepers and civil population as if inviting the Russians to come to their rescue. Their calculation was accurate. Russia had a choice between very bad and the worst, between war and abandoning the South Ossetians to extermination. We had to choose war and make our relations with the West deteriorate even more, which seriously undermined our allies their like Steinmeier and others.

NB. But why didn't we launch a preventive strike? Well, I guess this was a stupid question. They would present us as aggressors.

VS. You bet! In that case, Russia could have to pay much more for saving two thousands lives. Ukraine would have gotten the green light for Nato membership and then we would have to act fast and in full force, risking dangerous consequences.

NB. In other words, our victory in South Ossetia was not victory after all.

VS. Neither a victory nor a defeat. After all, in Russian the word for victory (po – beda) includes these seemingly opposite meanings. We have failed to prevent the death of two thousand people and the destruction. We also had to take the bait, because the strategic initiative remains in their hands and they won't stop at anything. But we have won morally. This is the main thing. Besides, they cannot foresee everything. Our diplomatic activity begin to bring results they did not expect.

NB. Saakashvili's regime has been armed to the teeth by Ukraine, Israel, and the United States. What was the role of Farwest in arming Georgia?

VS. Their role was exceptional. Generals Filin and Likhvintsev represent GUR in supervising Ukraine's military-technical exchange with other countries. They were also primary business partners of the defense minister Okruashvili, selling arms to Georgia through their front company Far West LTD and later through BIVIS-RU. Incidentally, this was the reason that the publication in “Profil” about arms shipments from Ukraine to Georgia, Azerbaijan, and the United States provoked Filin's hysterical response. That article openly blamed Ukraine for warmongering and inciting arms race in the Caucasus. 4 As I recall, that's when Filin for the first time described Russia as Ukraine's likely military adversary and threatened to make public the information about the kickbacks in the arms deals between Russia and Venezuela. 5 Far West sold Georgia not only the arms from the arsenals of the Ukrainian defense ministry but also the unlicensed arms from their pirate factories in Poland, Bulgaria, and Jordan.

NB. What is to come next?

VB. They will remove Saakashvili. For the United States he's become expendable long ago. Last spring it was decided to put Burdjanadze in his place. Since then she distanced herself from Saakashvili. Yushchenko is in the same boat with Saakashvili. The Americans and Banderovites will replace him with Timoshenko. They think they can control her. For some time she fought for her independence, but in the end Filin, Galaka, Likhvintsev, and other Banderovites psychologically broke her. [Alexander Galaka – forner head of GUR – Ed.]. Now Timoshenko believes they will kill her if she disobeys.

Russia will have to face now provocations in Sevastopol as they will attempt to draw us in a war with Ukraine. If they succeed, it will be impossible to avoid a new cold war and the West will support the Banderovites going nuclear. The hard-core ultra-nationalists in Ukraine are quite capable of dropping the Bomb on Moscow.

Kadyrov and his 25 thousand fighters-veterans of the Dudaev-Maskhadov regime (do not confuse them with the heroic pro-Moscow battalions of Chechen spetsnaz “East” and “West”) so far keep quiet. They are not a threat for now. Better not touch them, we have more urgent business to take care of.

In Turkey, the Grey Wolves used the Supreme Court to intimidate the prime minister Erdogan. He is afraid of them and seeks understanding and support from Russia.

Israel--where all politicians are obsessed with Iran and compete with each other for being the toughest—risks to find itself in Saakashvili's position, in case the Israelis attack Iran. The United States and the Gulf Arabs want Israel to go for this, because they are afraid of Iranians and wish to weaken them by someone else's hands.

The United States are having back-room negotiations with China. From what we hear, the Chinese want to have their own sector of responsibility in Afghanistan. This will automatically make the Central Asia and Kazakhstan their sphere of influence. In exchange, they can use Iran as a bargaining chip with the United States. Unfortunately, we cannot verify this information.

As far as we can see, relations between Putin and Medvedev remain good, but there are constant efforts from inside and outside to drive a wedge between them. Western press and the Russian press, controlled by Far West, deliberately portray Putin as a fascist. Russia's exclusion from G-8 is almost inevitable. In CIS, no state openly supported Russia. Medvedev and Putin personally asked Lukashenko, Nazarbaev, and Karimov for support but they refused. This is all I have to say for now.

    NB. Thank you, Vadim.

Ukraine oligarch claims US extradition request is political interference

    Quote May 5, 2015.

Dmytro Firtash boasts he brokered 2014 deal to make Petro Poroshenko president during Vienna court hearing that raises questions about US role in Kiev.

Last year’s Maidan revolution in Ukraine was meant to usher in a new kind of politics and end official corruption and behind-the-scenes oligarchic influence. But an Austrian court last week heard claims that President Petro Poroshenko had his path to the presidency cleared for him only after a summit in Vienna with controversial oligarch Dmytro Firtash.

The claims came as part of a one-day hearing in Vienna, when an Austrian judge rejected a US extradition request for Firtash. The oligarch claimed the US charges against him – of bribing Indian officials – were politically motivated and were Washington’s way of removing him from the Ukrainian political playing field at a sensitive time.

In much the same way that proceedings in London’s high court between Russian oligarchs have brought to light elements of Russian backroom deals, the hearing in Vienna provided a number of tantalising details about recent Ukrainian politics.

Firtash is one of the most powerful and most elusive of Ukraine’s oligarch class, a small group of individuals who have controlled much of the business in post-Soviet Ukraine and have often had huge influence over the political system. He has been linked to the Kremlin as well as figures in the Russian underworld – claims he has denied.

Usually, oligarchs like to remain in the shadows, but to make his case that the US charges were politically motivated, Firtash made a rare boast about his political influence inside Ukraine.

Firtash told the court he arranged a summit in Vienna after the Maidan revolution between former boxer Vitali Klitschko and Poroshenko, who went on to become Ukraine’s president following the overthrow of President Viktor Yanukovych. After the meeting, Firtash said, Klitschko agreed to run for mayor of Kiev rather than the presidency. For a nation sick of big decisions being taken in shadowy closed-door meetings, the claims have hit a nerve.

Vasyl Rasevych, a Ukrainian historian and journalist, said the revelations at the trial suggested that Ukraine’s president was essentially appointed by oligarchs.

“In Ukraine, after the revolution of dignity there is still no politics, we’re still run by an oligarchic system. People who claimed to be oppositionist and swore to change the system, they instead lied to the public and continue to make back-door deals Yanukovych-style.”

Some, however, have pointed out that Firtash clearly had a vested interest in portraying himself as a kingmaker in order to avoid his extradition, and thus his testimony could be skewed.

Klitschko gave a vague denial, stating that Firtash’s words were “incorrect”, while Svyatoslav Tsegolko, Poroshenko’s spokesman, said the president had a “very simple position” on the issue and had commented on the meeting during last year’s election campaign. Then, Poroshenko had admitted meeting Firtash in Vienna, when he travelled to Austria for the birthday part of Vitali Klitschko’s brother Wladimir.

“I do not think [Firtash] liked the outcome of the meeting,” Poroshenko said later, local media reported. Tsegolko said Poroshenko was “a president of de-oligarchisation”, pointing to a recent law to reform the energy sector, as well as the dismissal of Ihor Kolomoisky, the oligarch governor of Dnipropetrovsk region, in March.

Ukrainian prosecutors have opened investigations of their own against Firtash, as part of Poroshenko’s mission to free the country from oligarchic influence.

The cynics point out that Poroshenko himself is a wealthy businessman, and wonder whether any promises were given during the meeting between Poroshenko, Klitschko and Firtash last year.

Member of parliament Victoria Voytsitska said: “If there was a deal, Poroshenko needs to admit it and reveal the terms. Were there any obligations on his part when he became the president, towards Firtash or any other oligarch? If he does not comment, then questions will only intensify as to what he is trying to hide, and there won’t be much trust or belief in his claims to be fighting the oligarchs.”

Olga Belkova, an MP from Poroshenko’s bloc who sits on the parliamentary energy committee, said key reforms were being pushed through the sector, and the most important thing is that the system, rather than simply ownership, is changed.

“Now is the moment when the system will either be cleansed, or everything will stay the same.”

The second major question raised by the Vienna trial is the level of US interference in Ukrainian politics. The US indictment against Firtash alleged that the oligarch paid bribes to Indian officials as part of a titanium deal. Analysts have noted that the charges are relatively minor given the importance of Firtash in Ukraine and the timing of the arrest, something which the judge also mentioned.

The oligarch compared the history of Firtash’s arrest and extradition requests with dates of US assistant secretary of state Victoria Nuland’s travel in and out of Kiev, suggesting that the Americans used the threat as leverage to force Yanukovych to sign a European Union integration pact in autumn 2013.

Yanukovych later changed his mind over signing the pact, which led to the Maidan revolution, following which Firtash was apprehended by Austrian police at US request. Firtash’s defence strategy was to suggest that the whole case against him was part of a US attempt to influence events in Ukraine.

The US maintains there was no political motivation behind the extradition request and the overlap of dates with Nuland’s travel was just a coincidence.

“This is a case brought by the [US] Justice Department as part of a foreign corruption investigation,” one State Department official told the Guardian.

“We are disappointed with the court’s ruling and have filed an appeal,” he added.

    The Guardian
In his The Grand Chessboard (1997) Zbigniew Brzezinski wrote:

Quote "If Moscow regains control over Ukraine, with its 52 million people and major resources as well as access to the Black Sea, Russia automatically again regains the wherewithal to become a powerful imperial state, spanning Europe and Asia."

“Ukraine, a new and important space on the Eurasian chessboard, is a geopolitical pivot because its very existence as an independent country helps to transform Russia. Without Ukraine, Russia ceases to be a Eurasian empire.”

“Geopolitical pivots are the states whose importance is derived not from their power and motivation but rather from their sensitive location… which in some cases gives them a special role in either defining access to important areas or in denying resources to a significant player.”

“Ukraine, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Turkey and Iran play the role of critically important geopolitical pivots.”

    PS!

Interestingly enough, it was Brzezinski who first compared Putin to Hitler in a March 3 Washington Post Editorial.

It`s tempting to ask if it was Oleksandr Shevchenko`s punch in Oleh Lyashko`s face (august, 2014) that made the latter come up with the law that bans communist symbols in Ukraine:

Ukranian Parliament bans communist symbols and legitimises nazi-collaborators (excerpt)

    Quote April 10, 2015

On April 9, the Ukranian Rada passed 4 pieces of legislation submitted by the government, which ban all symbols and propaganda of Communism. After the law comes into effect, any monuments for Communist figures which have not already been destroyed by fascist thugs in the last few months must be demolished. Also any cities and streets which named after communists are supposed to be renamed.

Of course, the condemnation of Nazism is just a fig leave, as in the same breath, the Rada passed the law “On Legal Status and to commemorate fighters for Ukraine’s independence in the twentieth century.” This law lists dozens of organisations which are recognised as Ukranian freedom fighters, including those which collaborated with the Nazis and carried out massacres of Jews, Poles and others, like the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Their symbols are widely used by far-right organisations and paramilitary fascists organisations which are now part of the state apparatus.

In fact, just a few days ago, the leader of the Right Sector Dmytro Yarosh, which sees himself as the inheritor of tradition of nazi-collaborator Stepan Bandera and his OUN-UPA organisations, was appointed as Advisor to the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces.

From now on, the symbols of these nazi-collaborating and genocidal organisations are protected by law: “Public denial of the legitimacy of the struggle for the independence of Ukraine in the twentieth century recognized insult to the memory of fighters for independence of Ukraine in the XX century constitutes disparagement of the Ukrainian people and is illegal.”

The law against communist symbols was proposed by far right Radical Party leader Oleg Lyashko and passed with the votes two hundred and fifty-four MPs, with the required minimum being 226 votes.

Top Polish military advisor ‘completely withdraws’ his support of Ukraine gov’t

    Quote April 16, 2015

A top military adviser and former head of Poland’s armed forces has told Gazeta Prawna news in Poland that he has “completely withdrawn” his previous views favoring providing more military assistance and political support to the government of Ukraine.

His change of view is prompted by the law passed by the Ukrainian Parliament on April 9 glorifying World War Two collaborators with Nazi Germany. It follows an address to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on April 9 by Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski in which the president voiced strong support for Ukraine, including its military ambitions against the pro-autonomy movement in the east of the country.

Skrzypczak told Gazeta Prawna, “A few hours later, the Ukrainian parliament passed a law glorifying the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). At this point, I realized that Ukraine does not consider the Polish people. I’m talking of what happened in Volhynia, the slaughter of 100,000 Poles by the UPA [in 1943 and 1944]…

Vladimir Putin calls Ukraine fascist and country’s new law helps make his case

    Quote May 14, 2015

As Ukraine continues its battle against separatists, corruption and a collapsing economy, it has taken a dangerous step that could further tear the country apart: Ukraine’s parliament, the Supreme Rada, passed a draft law last month honoring organizations involved in mass ethnic cleansing during World War Two.

Open Letter from Scholars and Experts on Ukraine Re. the So-Called "Anti-Communist Law" (april, 2015)

Quote To the President of Ukraine, Petro O. Poroshenko, and to the Chairman of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, Volodymyr B. Hroysman:

We, the undersigned, appeal to you not to sign into law the draft laws (no. 2538-1 and 2558)1 adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on April 9, 2015. As scholars and experts long committed to Ukraine’s regeneration and freedom, we regard these laws with the deepest foreboding. Their content and spirit contradicts one of the most fundamental political rights: the right to freedom of speech. Their adoption would raise serious questions about Ukraine’s commitment to the principles of the Council of Europe and the OSCE, along with a number of treaties and solemn declarations adopted since Ukraine regained its independence in 1991. Their impact on Ukraine’s image and reputation in Europe and North America would be profound. Not least of all, the laws would provide comfort and support to those who seek to enfeeble and divide Ukraine.

We also are troubled by the fact that the laws passed without serious debate, without dissenting votes and with large numbers of deputies declining to take part.

In particular we are concerned about the following:

Concerning the inclusion of groups such as the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) as “fighters for Ukrainian independence”: Article 6 of this law makes it a criminal offense to deny the legitimacy of “the struggle for the independence of Ukraine in the 20th century” and public denial of the same is to be regarded as an insult to the memory of the fighters. Thus questioning this claim, and implicitly questioning anything such groups did, is being made a criminal offense.

Law 2558, the ban on propaganda of “Communist and National Socialist Regimes” makes it a criminal offense to deny, “including in the media, the criminal character of the communist totalitarian regime of 1917-1991 in Ukraine.”

The potential consequences of both these laws are disturbing. Not only would it be a crime to question the legitimacy of an organization (UPA) that slaughtered tens of thousands of Poles in one of the most heinous acts of ethnic cleansing in the history of Ukraine, but also it would exempt from criticism the OUN, one of the most extreme political groups in Western Ukraine between the wars, and one which collaborated with Nazi Germany at the outset of the Soviet invasion in 1941. It also took part in anti-Jewish pogroms in Ukraine and, in the case of the Melnyk faction, remained allied with the occupation regime throughout the war.

However noble the intent, the wholesale condemnation of the entire Soviet period as one of occupation of Ukraine will have unjust and incongruous consequences. Anyone calling attention to the development of Ukrainian culture and language in the 1920s could find himself or herself condemned. The same applies to those who regard the Gorbachev period as a progressive period of change to the benefit of Ukrainian civil society, informal groups, and political parties, including the Movement for Perestroika (Rukh).

Over the past 15 years, Vladimir Putin’s Russia has invested enormous resources in the politicization of history. It would be ruinous if Ukraine went down the same road, however partially or tentatively. Any legal or ‘administrative’ distortion of history is an assault on the most basic purpose of scholarly inquiry: pursuit of truth. Any official attack on historical memory is unjust. Difficult and contentious issues must remain matters of debate. The 1.5 million Ukrainians who died fighting the Nazis in the Red Army are entitled to respect, as are those who fought the Red Army and NKVD. Those who regard victory over Nazi Germany as a pivotal historical event should neither feel intimidated nor excluded from the nation.

Since 1991, Ukraine has been a tolerant and inclusive state, a state (in the words of the Constitution) for ‘citizens of Ukraine of all nationalities’. If signed, the laws of April 9 will be a gift to those who wish to turn Ukraine against itself. They will alienate many Ukrainians who now find themselves under de facto occupation. They will divide and dishearten Ukraine’s friends. In short, they will damage Ukraine’s national security, and for this reason above all, we urge you to reject them.

Questions Raised Over Poroshenko's Role In Valuable Kyiv Land Deal

    Quote May 13, 2015

KYIV -- An investigation by RFE/RL shows that Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko may have used his presidential influence to shut down investigations into a land deal aimed at building a private mansion on a historic site in the Ukrainian capital.

Psycho 'Reality Creators' open 'gates of hell' in Iraq with proxy Jihadis

In case you were wondering why, despite the sterling efforts of the Bush and Obama governments to bring 'freedom and democracy' to Iraq, life there appears to be worse than ever, a brief review of the nature of American and European largesse that has been bestowed on the Iraqi people over the past twenty-odd years may be instructive.

First there was the 1991 Iraq War turkey shoot that killed thousands of Iraqi civilians and killed or wounded over 100,000 Iraqi soldiers; then followed the 10 years of regular US bombing runs and the willful genocide of Iraqis, especially children, via the 'food for oil' sanctions. Then came the second Gulf War turkey shoot, justified (not 'officially', but it wouldn't have happened otherwise) by the self-inflicted wound that was the 9/11 attacks, that involved a 10-year occupation by the US military and the further direct slaughter of at least 1.5 million Iraqis by the US military and the displacement of 4 million more.

By 2011, with the country in ruins and the the bulk of US troops preparing to leave, US military 'advisers' hastily cobbled together an 'Iraqi army'. Unfortunately, the tribal nature of Iraqi society, the serious divisions between Sunni and Shia that had been provoked by 10 years of bloody foreign occupation, including the use of US-sponsored death squads (aka 'al-qaeda'), and the installation of a Shia-led government in a country previously dominated by the minority Sunnis under Saddam, made the very idea of a united Iraqi army a fantasy. But those details were of little concern to the occupiers. A few major weapons and oil deals and the US was outta there. Thanks for the memories... for a while.

    Next Stop - Syria

Then came the (Israeli-sponsored) plan to 'remake' Syria. But when it was decided that a US invasion and occupation of that country was too problematic in the sense that it might set the entire Middle East alight and threaten Israeli sensitivities, plan B was to use the same fundamentalist jihadi nut-jobs from Iraq to start a 'revolution' that the majority of the Syrian people wanted nothing to do with. But after three years of direct and indirect funding and arming of the jihadis by the USA, Saudi Arabia Qatar and Turkey, and massive bloodshed, with several Syrian cities reduced almost to rubble, Assad was still there, the Syrian army were prevailing against the nut-jobs, and the psychopaths at the US state department, the CIA and in Tel Aviv, were getting antsy. 'Can't we just have NATO bomb the crap out of the place?' A pretext was needed, and last year the Saudis were used to supply sarin gas to the jihadis (or a Saudi black op team did it themselves), who happily sacrificed the lives of 1,000 Syrian civilians in Ghouta in an effort to blame the Assad government for 'war crimes' and justify NATO (i.e. USA) bombing.

    Saudi Prince Bandar bin-sellin-Sarin-gas

While the alternative media (including this website) pointed out that the chemical attack came from a 'rebel'-held area, John Kerry (and his counterpart borgs in the EU) bluffed and blustered to the world that Assad had "crossed a red line" and "something had to be done". But an eleventh hour reprieve for the Syrian people was secured by the Russian government who, behind closed diplomatic doors, made it clear to the US and EU warmongers that they had clear evidence pointing to the true source of the chemical attack, and would rather not be forced to reveal it to the world at the UN. To assuage Kerry and Co's severe disappointment at not getting to dismember some civilians, and to help them save face over the fact that the USA's 'al-qaeda' 'rebels' in Syria were responsible for the chemical attack, the Russian government suggested that, as an alternative, it could ensure that the Assad government destroyed its chemical weapon stockpile. Kerry and Co. had to accept the deal, but they weren't happy with Russia for denying them an opportunity to crush some little people, and they were willing to bide their time.

New Old Jihadis on the block

The group that is currently grabbing gruesome headlines in Iraq - the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) - is 'al-qaeda' by another name, or 'al-qaeda 2.0' if you prefer. They subscribe to Wahhabism or Salafism which is the extremist Saudi version of the Muslim religion that, according to a 'conspiracy theory' was created by agents of the British Empire in the 18th century as a way to corrupt Islam and safeguard the region for British interests. The document that constitutes the evidence for this plot is essentially the Muslim version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Then again, when you consider the existence of fundie Christian leaders like Pat Robertson, and the phenomenon of 'Purity Balls', no conspiracy is needed. And it's not hard to see how similar specimens and ideologies could arise in Islam. Unless, of course, Pat Robertson is a CIA agent. Manufactured fundamentalism or not, Saudi Wahhibism has played a central role in safeguarding the Middle East for British and American interests.

Strangely enough, in July 2013, the European Parliament identified the Wahhabi movement as the source of global terrorism and a threat to traditional and diverse Muslim cultures of the whole world. That analysis has done nothing, however, to effect the cozy relationship between the Saudi royals and the US and EU.

    Abu-Musab-bin-taking-kickbacks-from-the-CIA-Zarqawi,
    in a desert somewhere...with a gun.

ISIS is said to have originated (although not under that name) in 2004 with the mythical Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Zarqawi was, if you remember, one of 'al-qaeda's' front men in Iraq from 2004-2006 and was accused by the US government of orchestrating much of the 'sectarian' killings, and the video-recorded beheadings of American citizens Nick Berg and Eugene Armstrong. I already detailed the likely truth behind the 'sectarian' killings in Iraq in this article (think US-sponsored death squads), and exposed the fact that even US military intelligence agents in Iraq knew that 'al Zarqawi', as he was portrayed, existed only in the lurid fantasies of Donald Rumsfeld:

Quote US military intelligence agents in Iraq have revealed a series of botched and often tawdry dealings with unreliable sources who, in the words of one source, "told us what we wanted to hear".

"We were basically paying up to $10,000 a time to opportunists, criminals and chancers who passed off fiction and supposition about Zarqawi as cast-iron fact, making him out as the linchpin of just about every attack in Iraq," the agent said.

"Back home this stuff was gratefully received and formed the basis of policy decisions. We needed a villain, someone identifiable for the public to latch on to, and we got one."
But good 'terrorist masterminds' are hard to come by, and the Pentagon knows that it has to take what it can get. To establish his credentials as terrorist bogeyman in Iraq, Zarqawi was kind enough to write a letter to Osama bin Laden in 2004 and copy the Pentagon on it. The letter, which was later proven to be fake, was enthusiastically accepted at the time by Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt, who said: "the important thing is that we have this document in our hands, how it was found is not as important as the fact that we have it and that we can use it."

    No doubt.

In the letter, Zarqawi conveniently took pre-emptive responsibility for the wave of sectarian attacks and shrine bombings in Iraq that occurred between 2004-2006 and 'wrote':

Quote "We are striving urgently and racing against time to create companies of mujahidin that will repair to secure places and strive to reconnoiter the country, hunting the enemy -- Americans, police, and soldiers -- on the roads and lanes. We are continuing to train and multiply them. As for the Shi'a, we will hurt them, God willing, through martyrdom operations and car bombs."
I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation of the logic behind 'Zarqawi's' plan to encourage Iraqis to join him in fighting American troops, while at the same time attacking and killing Iraqis. It is also an enduring mystery why 'Zarqawi' believed that attacking and killing Iraqi civilians was the best way to 'destroy the infidels'. As it turned out, it was the best way to justify the continued US occupation of the country and destroy lots of Iraqis. Admittedly, that was a lucky break for the Americans... and the Saudis... and the Israelis... and the Western oil companies.

'Zarqawi' was eventually dispatched (or so we're told) by way of two made-in-the-USA 500lb bombs, special delivery, and dropped on the house he was allegedly inside of, in Iraq in 2006. Check out the short video of the bombing in that last link, and then check out this image of the alleged body of 'Zarqawi'. Enough said.

So the ideological descendants of Zarqawi are today rampaging almost unimpeded through Iraq and, like Zarqawi, waging a war, not against the 25,000 American soldiers, diplomatic staff (including CIA) and US mercenaries, but against other Iraqis! ISIS is led by the new 'Zarqawi' - Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi - who coincidentally spent 4 years in US military custody in Iraq before he was simply set loose, for some unknown reason, although we're starting to get a clue), and Shakir Wahiyib 'the terrible', a 20-something bearded dude with a penchant for posing for pictures in the desert and uploading Youtube videos of himself killing innocent civilians.

Shakir Wahiyib - apparently on the set of a bad Bollywood movie.

Despite the fact that the US govt. and the Western media are claiming that everyone was 'caught by surprise' by the ISIS invasion, it was reported several weeks ago that these 'Syrian rebels' (again, the ones funded by the Saudis, Qatar, Turkey and the USA) were heading in the direction of the Iraqi border as the Syrian military pushed them out of cities like Homs. What seems to have happened is that, as the tide turned against the West's terrorists in Syria, and with the original plan for NATO air strikes thwarted by Russia, this group of jihadis was allowed, or encouraged, to escape to Iraq with their truck-loads of NATO weaponry (supplied by the USA, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar) from where they could be expected to cause enough chaos for 'Democratic Iraq' (sic) that Western governments and media would call for Western bombing of both Iraq and Syria (from whence the jihadis came of course). The kidnapping by ISIS of dozens of Turkish embassy staff in Iraq was the icing on the cake in that respect. Turkey is a NATO member you see, and an attack on one NATO member is an attack on all. That's actually NATO's unofficial motto "one for all and all for one... except the EU...because f**k the EU."

It is also worth noting that the actions of ISIS have allowed the Kurds in Northern Iraq to take control of several major towns (including oil fields), and with ISIS declaring a war on Iraqi Shias, the stage is finally set for the fulfillment of that long-standing US and Israeli scheme to divide Iraq into three separate 'stans': Kurdistan, Shia-stan and Sunni-stan. Again, it's an amazing stroke of luck for the warmongers, regime changers, Empire builders and self-styled 'reality creators' in Washington that ISIS just happened to decide to move into Iraq and thereby fulfill CFR President Leslie H. Gelb's 2003 dream of splitting Iraq into three statelets - or this strangely prophetic segment from 'A Strategy for Israel in the 1980s', an article penned by Israeli journalist Oded Yinon and published in 1982 by the World Zionist Organisation's publication, Kivunim:

Quote The dissolution of Syria and Iraq into ethnically or religiously unique areas such as in Lebanon is Israel's primary target on the Eastern front. Iraq, rich in oil on the one hand and internally torn on the other is guaranteed as a candidate for Israel's targets. Its dissolution is even more important for us than that of Syria. Iraq is stronger than Syria. In the short run, it is Iraqi power which constitutes the greatest threat to Israel.

An Iraqi-Iranian war will tear Iraq apart and cause its downfall at home even before it is able to organize a struggle on a wide front against us. Every kind of inter-Arab confrontation will assist us in the short run and will shorten the way to the more important aim of breaking up Iraq into denominations as in Syria and Lebanon.

In Iraq, a division into provinces along ethnic/religious lines as in Syria during Ottoman times is possible. So, three (or more) states will exist around the three major cities: Basra, Baghdad and Mosul and Shiite areas in the South will separate from the Sunni and Kurdish north.
From Whence That 'Muslim Terror Threat'?

The current Muslim Terror threat against Western nations, as portrayed by ISIS (or 'al-qaeda' before it) is entirely a creation of Western governments and intelligence agencies. That does not mean that they are not real jihadis with weapons; they are, but they are in no way representative of the vast majority of Muslims in the Middle East or anywhere else. That should be obvious given that these particular jihadis are more interested in killing other Muslims than Westerners. Neither are they a threat to Western nations, primarily for the above reasons, and also because they get most of their weapons from their Western handlers.

While there may not be any credible 'Islamic terror threat' to the West, that does not mean that there is no anti-American sentiment in the Middle East and around the world, wherever the US has enforced the 'American way' on other nations (the 'American way' being the mania for overthrowing legitimate governments and installing tin-pot dictators who will do the US' or the 'West's' bidding). But the genuine Muslim or Arab or African opposition to American and British corporate imperialism is subverted, by the Americans, Israelis and British themselves, by funding and arming these otherwise marginalized fundamentalist groups, so that they can be both easily demonized as 'terrorists' and used to justify continued imperial expansion to "combat them".

Throughout the Middle East and going back 70+ years, the genuine opposition was, for the most part, led by moderate and sometimes largely secular Muslim groups and leaders that sought to establish a 'pan-Arab' front and to unite Arab nations. For the US and Israel (like the British before them), the triumph of a secular pan-Arab movement in the 19th or 20th centuries was the worst case scenario because progressive, enlightened secular governments tend to put the interests of their people first, or at least above the interests of foreign powers. US global hegemony was founded on the control of the resources of other nations by US 'interests'. Without that control, the US would be forced to relinquish its role of 'world leader' and the US economy would quickly collapse because the one thing that has been propping it up - the petrodollar - would be no more.

American and Israeli interests were therefore always best served by the rule of corrupt, authoritarian, fundamentalist (if only in name) Muslim leaders who would happily suppress any protests movements and play ball the American way, and history shows that it was these kinds of regimes and individuals that received funding and promotion from Western governments. Consider Saudi Arabia's fundamentalist, Sharia law-practicing, police state, for example. It is heralded in the West as a 'stabilizing force', while largely secular and somewhat 'socialist' governments like those of Iraq, Libya, Syria and Lebanon were, and are, condemned as 'terrorist regimes'. Then again, the US strategy of hoodwinking the world into accepting US global domination and plunder as 'free', 'democratic' and 'civilized', was always going to require an inversion of logic and subversion of reality, and a few hundred tons of bombs for good measure.

    'Reality Creators'

America, as an allegedly 'capitalist' country, claims that it wants to spread US-style secular democracy to the entire world, in very much the same way as the Marxists wanted to. But who, in their right mind, would want a predatory capitalist system masquerading as 'freedom and democracy', where most of the wealth of a country is sucked up to the top of the psycho pyramid, creating a vast and impoverished underclass?

The US elite don't seem to realise that their ruthless profiteering and warmongering is not exactly an appealing model for the ordinary people of the world. Then again, we shouldn't be surprised at the apparent ignorance of the US elite because (like elites almost everywhere) they are not really human beings in the strict or essential sense of the term.

Lacking the ability to empathise with others or connect outwards with objective reality, they are, in effect, a different species. They are possessed of (or by) an intense and all-consuming narcissism. Not a common or garden variety narcissism, mind you, but an extreme version that is so contractile and self-focused, that they actually believe they can 'create reality' by simply imposing their will, by force, until the 'facts' reflect what they want to see. This is obviously a type of insanity where a person automatically assumes that what they think about a situation or other person constitutes the objective reality. In the event that these types can't, for whatever reason, create their twisted reality by force, they simply ignore the facts on the ground and speak and act as if it already existed, i.e. they lie, profusely and unflinchingly.

Such people justifiably belong in a special kind of 'gated community' for their own protection, and that of others, but the halls of power in the major nations of this world are suffused with such types, and they impose their perverse version of 'reality' from the top down, infecting the beliefs, lives and future of most of the rest of humanity until the entire world appears to undergo a schizoidal break with reality.

Consider the fact that, in the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, one of the justifications proffered by Washington and London was that Saddam had ties to 'al-qaeda'. No such ties ever existed, and yet, today, after 10 years of US occupation, 'al-qaeda', or a gang of US and Saudi-funded jihadis (same difference) are running around Iraq, slaughtering at will. How's that for 'creating reality'?

An Honorable Mention for the Right Honorable Tony Blair

Speaking of psychopathic 'reality creators', that despicable piece of subhuman waste, commonly known as Tony Blair, wrote a craven essay on his website yesterday where he claimed that it was a "bizarre reading of the cauldron that is the Middle East today, to claim that, but for the removal of Saddam, we would not have a crisis", and that, on the contrary, the situation in Iraq is due to the fact that Syria was not bombed by NATO and that the US and UK should not only bomb Iraq but Syria too, for good measure. Blair is, of course, simply attempting to divert attention from the fact that he is an inveterate liar and sadistic war criminal who delights in the massacre of civilians and is personally responsible for the genocide of 1.5 million Iraqis, genocide that was justified on the basis of a pack of lies. To say that Blair is discredited among the vast majority of people in the UK is an understatement. Each time he opens his mealy mouth to bore the world with his inane refrain about how "Saddam was a bad man", he is thoroughly, and almost unanimously, derided in the comments sections of mainstream media websites, regardless of the political leanings of the commentators.

Blair's thesis that Saddam was a 'bad man' and had to be removed and that Iraq is today 'better off' without him and that the West should be thanked for 'removing' him, is so utterly preposterous that it could only come from the mind of one of those - technically insane - psychopathic 'reality creators'. Under Saddam, Iraq was the most developed secular country in the region. Iraqis enjoyed universal health care and education, and Sunni and Shia lived largely peacefully side by side. The abuses of the Iraqi government were no worse than the abuses of any Western government at the time. After the first Gulf War turkey shoot, Iraq was progressively destroyed by Western imperial powers, with the help of Western puppet regimes like Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait. And yet the Iraqi people are meant to be grateful? Blair's break with reality has become so transparent that even the Tory Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, was forced to admit it.

    Johnson said of Blair's essay:

Quote "It struck me as unhinged in its refusal to face facts. In discussing the disaster of modern Iraq he made assertions that are so jaw-droppingly and breathtakingly at variance with reality that he surely needs professional psychiatric help."
    In Conclusion

Mainstream media outlets have been regaling Western audiences with headlines like 'A powerful and merciless force has emerged on the world stage', and 'Black flag of jihad will fly over London', and encouraging us to view 'terrifying execution images' to the point that we start to get the impression that someone, somewhere, really wants to scare us, albeit in a crassly theatrical way.

What we are witnessing in Iraq and Syria today is indeed largely theater, designed and performed by psychopaths for the purpose of terrifying the masses of humanity into accepting the rule of the same psychopaths. While the action plays out in real life in cities and towns, and with real people suffering and dying, the underlying philosophy is similar to that portrayed by the 1950s 'Theater of the Absurd' where stage actors reflected the ponerized world in which they lived by expressing the belief that human existence has no meaning or purpose, with logical argument replaced by irrational and illogical speech and man appearing as a puppet, controlled or menaced by invisible outside forces. Normal human beings today truly are 'menaced by outside forces', but those forces are not invisible, they just hide behind massive lies and obfuscation and present themselves as 'our leaders to whom we must look to for protection', when the truth that we all must recognize is that they are a fundamentally different species from normal humanity with a fundamentally inhuman and malignant essence.

A few thoughts about the murder of Mozgovoi

    May 23, 2015

    Friends,

I will be honest with you: the murder of Mozgovoi hit me like a punch in the stomach, just as had happened with Buzina my first thought upon hearing the news was “Oh God – not him!”. I did not always agree with everything these two man said, but they were dear to my heart for their immense, truly shining, honesty and courage. At a time when the world is full of lukewarm, unprincipled, cynical “leaders”, Buzina and Mozgovoi truly did shine by their absolute honesty.

Even though I am in a state of total disgust and anger, I want to share a few simple thoughts with you:
    1) While it is pretty darn obvious who killed Buzina, it is too early to establish who killed Mozgovoi. Those “armchair generals” who are already pointing the finger at this or that person or group are only making things worse and, objectively, doing Kiev’s bidding.

    2) An attack like the one which happened today is not something organized in 24 hours. So those who are linking this murder with this or that recent event are by definition wrong.

    3) It is all well and dandy to blame Kiev yet again, but even if the regime in Kiev (or Uncle Sam himself) did order this murder, then the authorities in Lugansk are at the very least guilty of criminal negligence.

    4) I have a very hard time imagining that the otherwise hapless Ukronazi freaks in Kiev would have the means to regularly kill Novorussian commanders deep inside the LNR. As for Blackwater/Academi or CIA assassins, this is even less likely.
    5) I personally find the hypothesis that this murder was ordered by Putin absolutely ridiculous. Likewise, I find that Surkov ordered such a murder “behind Putin’s back” equally preposterous. So I am certain that this was not a “Kremlin ordered hit”.

So, not Kiev and not Moscow – but, then, who?

This is an extremely dangerous and divisive question which must be asked, but asked very carefully and only on the basis of facts.

The logical place to go look for answers is Lugansk and around those interest groups associated with that Republic. Still, at this point in time I would not confuse legitimate questions and accusations.I have to be honest here and admit that I am generally rather unimpressed with the LNR authorities and I personally doubt that they will come up with some real answers. I hope that I will be proven wrong, but I am not holding my breath. I will say that if the LNR authorities are unable or unwilling to clean house, then somebody else will have to do that.

At a time when crucial negotiations are taking place against the backdrop of an apparently inevitable Ukronazi attack the Kremlin simply cannot afford to have Lugansk taken over by the rot of local political intrigues and assassinations.

Right now, I am too sad, disgusted and angry to add anything else.

    The Saker

PS: apparently, the trolls are out in full force again, repeating the “The Kremlin did it!!” idiocy like a mantra. Whether we are dealing with paid Pentagon employees, low-IQ “hurray patriots” or simply garden variety idiots matters little: their hysterics only make things worse for Novorussia. I have better things to do than to argue with them, and if they get out of control I would recommend that the mods start re-directing their nonsense were it belongs: the trash bin.

Secret Pentagon report reveals West saw ISIS as strategic asset

    Dr. Nafeez Ahmed
    Insurge Intelligence
    Sat, 23 May 2015

A declassified secret US government document obtained by the conservative public interest law firm, Judicial Watch, shows that Western governments deliberately allied with al-Qaeda and other Islamist extremist groups to topple Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad.

The document reveals that in coordination with the Gulf states and Turkey, the West intentionally sponsored violent Islamist groups to destabilize Assad, despite anticipating that doing so could lead to the emergence of an 'Islamic State' in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

According to the newly declassified US document, the Pentagon foresaw the likely rise of the 'Islamic State' as a direct consequence of the strategy, but described this outcome as a strategic opportunity to "isolate the Syrian regime."

    Hypocrisy

The revelations contradict the official line of Western government on their policies in Syria, and raise disturbing questions about secret Western support for violent extremists abroad, while using the burgeoning threat of terror to justify excessive mass surveillance and crackdowns on civil liberties at home.

Among the batch of documents obtained by Judicial Watch through a federal lawsuit, released earlier this week, is a US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) document then classified as "secret," dated 12th August 2012.

The DIA provides military intelligence in support of planners, policymakers and operations for the US Department of Defense and intelligence community.

So far, media reporting has focused on the evidence that the Obama administration knew of arms supplies from a Libyan terrorist stronghold to rebels in Syria.

Some outlets have reported the US intelligence community's internal prediction of the rise of ISIS. Yet none have accurately acknowledged the disturbing details exposing how the West knowingly fostered a sectarian, al-Qaeda-driven rebellion in Syria.

Charles Shoebridge, a former British Army and Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism intelligence officer, said:

Quote "Given the political leanings of the organisation that obtained these documents, it's unsurprising that the main emphasis given to them thus far has been an attempt to embarrass Hilary Clinton regarding what was known about the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi in 2012. However, the documents also contain far less publicized revelations that raise vitally important questions of the West's governments and media in their support of Syria's rebellion."
    The West's Islamists

The newly declassified DIA document from 2012 confirms that the main component of the anti-Assad rebel forces by this time comprised Islamist insurgents affiliated to groups that would lead to the emergence of ISIS. Despite this, these groups were to continue receiving support from Western militaries and their regional allies.

Noting that "the Salafist [sic], the Muslim Brotherhood, and AQI [al-Qaeda in Iraq] are the major forces driving the insurgency in Syria," the document states that "the West, Gulf countries, and Turkey support the opposition," while Russia, China and Iran "support the [Assad] regime."

The 7-page DIA document states that al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI), the precursor to the 'Islamic State in Iraq,' (ISI) which became the 'Islamic State in Iraq and Syria,' "supported the Syrian opposition from the beginning, both ideologically and through the media."

The formerly secret Pentagon report notes that the "rise of the insurgency in Syria" has increasingly taken a "sectarian direction," attracting diverse support from Sunni "religious and tribal powers" across the region.

In a section titled 'The Future Assumptions of the Crisis,' the DIA report predicts that while Assad's regime will survive, retaining control over Syrian territory, the crisis will continue to escalate "into proxy war."

The document also recommends the creation of "safe havens under international sheltering, similar to what transpired in Libya when Benghazi was chosen as the command centre for the temporary government."

In Libya, anti-Gaddafi rebels, most of whom were al-Qaeda affiliated militias, were protected by NATO 'safe havens' (aka 'no fly zones').

    'Supporting powers want' ISIS entity

In a strikingly prescient prediction, the Pentagon document explicitly forecasts the probable declaration of "an Islamic State through its union with other terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria."

Nevertheless, "Western countries, the Gulf states and Turkey are supporting these efforts" by Syrian "opposition forces" fighting to "control the eastern areas (Hasaka and Der Zor), adjacent to Western Iraqi provinces (Mosul and Anbar)":

Quote "... there is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist Principality in eastern Syria (Hasaka and Der Zor), and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime, which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq and Iran)."
The secret Pentagon document thus provides extraordinary confirmation that the US-led coalition currently fighting ISIS, had three years ago welcomed the emergence of an extremist "Salafist Principality" in the region as a way to undermine Assad, and block off the strategic expansion of Iran. Crucially, Iraq is labeled as an integral part of this "Shia expansion."

The establishment of such a "Salafist Principality" in eastern Syria, the DIA document asserts, is "exactly" what the "supporting powers to the [Syrian] opposition want." Earlier on, the document repeatedly describes those "supporting powers" as "the West, Gulf countries, and Turkey."

Further on, the document reveals that Pentagon analysts were acutely aware of the dire risks of this strategy, yet ploughed ahead anyway.

The establishment of such a "Salafist Principality" in eastern Syria, it says, would create "the ideal atmosphere for AQI to return to its old pockets in Mosul and Ramadi." Last summer, ISIS conquered Mosul in Iraq, and just this month has also taken control of Ramadi.

Such a quasi-state entity will provide:

Quote "... a renewed momentum under the presumption of unifying the jihad among Sunni Iraq and Syria, and the rest of the Sunnis in the Arab world against what it considers one enemy. ISI could also declare an Islamic State through its union with other terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria, which will create grave danger in regards to unifying Iraq and the protection of territory."
The 2012 DIA document is an Intelligence Information Report (IIR), not a "finally evaluated intelligence" assessment, but its contents are vetted before distribution. The report was circulated throughout the US intelligence community, including to the State Department, Central Command, the Department of Homeland Security, the CIA, FBI, among other agencies.

In response to my questions about the strategy, the British government simply denied the Pentagon report's startling revelations of deliberate Western sponsorship of violent extremists in Syria. A British Foreign Office spokesperson said:

Quote "AQ and ISIL are proscribed terrorist organisations. The UK opposes all forms of terrorism. AQ, ISIL, and their affiliates pose a direct threat to the UK's national security. We are part of a military and political coalition to defeat ISIL in Iraq and Syria, and are working with international partners to counter the threat from AQ and other terrorist groups in that region. In Syria we have always supported those moderate opposition groups who oppose the tyranny of Assad and the brutality of the extremists."
The DIA did not respond to request for comment.

    Strategic asset for regime-change

Security analyst Shoebridge, however, who has tracked Western support for Islamist terrorists in Syria since the beginning of the war, pointed out that the secret Pentagon intelligence report exposes fatal contradictions at the heart of official pronunciations:

Quote "Throughout the early years of the Syria crisis, the US and UK governments, and almost universally the West's mainstream media, promoted Syria's rebels as moderate, liberal, secular, democratic, and therefore deserving of the West's support. Given that these documents wholly undermine this assessment, it's significant that the West's media has now, despite their immense significance, almost entirely ignored them."
According to Brad Hoff, a former US Marine who served during the early years of the Iraq War and as a 9/11 first responder at the Marine Corps Headquarters in Battalion Quantico from 2000 to 2004, the just released Pentagon report for the first time provides stunning affirmation that:

Quote "US intelligence predicted the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS), but instead of clearly delineating the group as an enemy, the report envisions the terror group as a US strategic asset."
Hoff, who is managing editor of Levant Report— an online publication run by Texas-based educators who have direct experience of the Middle East — points out that the DIA document "matter-of-factly" states that the rise of such an extremist Salafist political entity in the region offers a "tool for regime change in Syria."

The DIA intelligence report shows, he said, that the rise of ISIS only became possible in the context of the Syrian insurgency — "there is no mention of US troop withdrawal from Iraq as a catalyst for Islamic State's rise, which is the contention of innumerable politicians and pundits." The report demonstrates that:

Quote "The establishment of a 'Salafist Principality' in Eastern Syria is 'exactly' what the external powers supporting the opposition want (identified as 'the West, Gulf Countries, and Turkey') in order to weaken the Assad government."
The rise of a Salafist quasi-state entity that might expand into Iraq, and fracture that country, was therefore clearly foreseen by US intelligence as likely — but nevertheless strategically useful — blowback from the West's commitment to "isolating Syria."

    Complicity

Critics of the US-led strategy in the region have repeatedly raised questions about the role of coalition allies in intentionally providing extensive support to Islamist terrorist groups in the drive to destabilize the Assad regime in Syria.

The conventional wisdom is that the US government did not retain sufficient oversight on the funding to anti-Assad rebel groups, which was supposed to be monitored and vetted to ensure that only 'moderate' groups were supported.

However, the newly declassified Pentagon report proves unambiguously that years before ISIS launched its concerted offensive against Iraq, the US intelligence community was fully aware that Islamist militants constituted the core of Syria's sectarian insurgency.

Despite that, the Pentagon continued to support the Islamist insurgency, even while anticipating the probability that doing so would establish an extremist Salafi stronghold in Syria and Iraq.

As Shoebridge told me, "The documents show that not only did the US government at the latest by August 2012 know the true extremist nature and likely outcome of Syria's rebellion" — namely, the emergence of ISIS — "but that this was considered an advantage for US foreign policy. This also suggests a decision to spend years in an effort to deliberately mislead the West's public, via a compliant media, into believing that Syria's rebellion was overwhelmingly 'moderate.'"

Annie Machon, a former MI5 intelligence officer who blew the whistle in the 1990s on MI6 funding of al-Qaeda to assassinate Libya's former leader Colonel Gaddafi, similarly said of the revelations:

Quote "This is no surprise to me. Within individual countries there are always multiple intelligence agencies with competing agendas."
She explained that MI6's Libya operation in 1996, which resulted in the deaths of innocent people, "happened at precisely the time when MI5 was setting up a new section to investigate al-Qaeda."

This strategy was repeated on a grand scale in the 2011 NATO intervention in Libya, said Machon, where the CIA and MI6 were:

Quote "... supporting the very same Libyan groups, resulting in a failed state, mass murder, displacement and anarchy. So the idea that elements of the American military-security complex have enabled the development of ISIS after their failed attempt to get NATO to once again 'intervene' is part of an established pattern. And they remain indifferent to the sheer scale of human suffering that is unleashed as a result of such game-playing."
    Divide and rule

Several US government officials have conceded that their closest allies in the anti-ISIS coalition were funding violent extremist Islamist groups that became integral to ISIS.

US Vice President Joe Biden, for instance, admitted last year that Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Turkey had funneled hundreds of millions of dollars to Islamist rebels in Syria that metamorphosed into ISIS.

But he did not admit what this internal Pentagon document demonstrates — that the entire covert strategy was sanctioned and supervised by the US, Britain, France, Israel and other Western powers.

The strategy appears to fit a policy scenario identified by a recent US Army-commissioned RAND Corp report.

The report, published four years before the DIA document, called for the US "to capitalise on the Shia-Sunni conflict by taking the side of the conservative Sunni regimes in a decisive fashion and working with them against all Shiite empowerment movements in the Muslim world."

The US would need to contain "Iranian power and influence" in the Gulf by "shoring up the traditional Sunni regimes in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan." Simultaneously, the US must maintain "a strong strategic relationship with the Iraqi Shiite government" despite its Iran alliance.

The RAND report confirmed that the "divide and rule" strategy was already being deployed "to create divisions in the jihadist camp. Today in Iraq such a strategy is being used at the tactical level."

The report observed that the US was forming "temporary alliances" with al-Qaeda affiliated "nationalist insurgent groups" that have fought the US for four years in the form of "weapons and cash." Although these nationalists "have cooperated with al-Qaeda against US forces," they are now being supported to exploit "the common threat that al-Qaeda now poses to both parties."

The 2012 DIA document, however, further shows that while sponsoring purportedly former al-Qaeda insurgents in Iraq to counter al-Qaeda, Western governments were simultaneously arming al-Qaeda insurgents in Syria.

The revelation from an internal US intelligence document that the very US-led coalition supposedly fighting 'Islamic State' today, knowingly created ISIS in the first place, raises troubling questions about recent government efforts to justify the expansion of state anti-terror powers.

In the wake of the rise of ISIS, intrusive new measures to combat extremism including mass surveillance, the Orwellian 'prevent duty' and even plans to enable government censorship of broadcasters, are being pursued on both sides of the Atlantic, much of which disproportionately targets activists, journalists and ethnic minorities, especially Muslims.

Yet the new Pentagon report reveals that, contrary to Western government claims, the primary cause of the threat comes from their own deeply misguided policies of secretly sponsoring Islamist terrorism for dubious geopolitical purposes.

Hacked Emails Expose George Soros As Ukraine Puppet-Master

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 06/02/2015 11:13 -0400

Just days after George Soros warned that World War 3 was imminent unless Washington backed down to China on IMF currency basket inclusion, the hacker collective CyberBerkut has exposed the billionaire as the real puppet-master behind the scenes in Ukraine. In 3 stunning documents, allegedly hacked from email correspondence between the hedge fund manager and Ukraine President Poroshenko, Soros lays out "A short and medium term comprehensive strategy for the new Ukraine," expresses his confidence that the US should provide Ukraine with lethal military assistance, “with same level of sophistication in defense weapons to match the level of opposing force," and finally explained Poroshenko's "first priority must be to regain control of financial markets," which he assures the President could be helped by The Fed adding "I am ready to call Jack Lew of the US Treasury to sound him out about the swap agreement."

The hacking group CyberBerkut claims it has penetrated Ukraine’s presidential administration website and obtained correspondence between Soros and Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko. It has subsequently posted all the intercepted pdfs on line at the following location. More details as RT earlier reported:
Quote The hacktivists have published three files online, which include a draft of “A short and medium term comprehensive strategy for the new Ukraine” by Soros (dated March 12, 2015); an undated paper on military assistance to Kiev; and the billionaire’s letter to Poroshenko and Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk, dated December 23, 2014.

According to the leaked documents, Soros supports Barack Obama’s stance on Ukraine, but believes that the US should do even more.

He is confident that the US should provide Ukraine with lethal military assistance, “with same level of sophistication in defense weapons to match the level of opposing force.”

“In poker terms, the US will ‘meet, but not raise,” the 84-year-old businessman explained, supposedly signing one of the letters as “a self-appointed advocate of the new Ukraine.”

The Western backers want Kiev to “restore the fighting capacity of Ukraine without violating the Minsk agreement,” Soros wrote.
Among other things, the leaked documents claim that the Ukrainian authorities were also asked to “restore some semblance of currency stability and functioning banking system” and “maintain unity among the various branches of government” in order to receive assistance from foreign allies.
Quote Soros believes that it’s up to the EU to support Kiev with financial aid, stressing that “Europe must reach a new framework agreement that will allow the European Commission to allocate up to $1 billion annually to Ukraine.”

As for the current state of economy, the billionaire wrote that former Chilean finance minister, Andres Velasco, after visiting Ukraine on his request, returned with “a dire view of financial situation."

“The new Ukraine is literally on the verge of collapse” due to the national bank’s lack of hard currency reserves, Soros warned Poroshenko.

The correspondence shows that the billionaire has been in constant touch with the authorities in Kiev and consulting them.
Digging into the details of the documents, we find one intriguing snippet:
Quote As you know, I asked Andrés Velasco, a prominent economist who was Chile’s very successful minister of finance from 2006-2010 to visit Kyiv where he met the Prime Minister; the President was in Warsaw at the time. Velasco came back with a dire view of the financial situation. The National Bank of Ukraine has practically no hard currency reserves. That means that the hryvnia has no anchor. If a panic occurred and the currency collapsed as it did in Russia, the National Bank could not stabilize the exchange rate even if only temporarily as Russia did by injecting $90 billion.

Your first priority must be to regain control over the financial markets—bank deposits and exchange rates. Unless you do, you will have no way to embark on deeper reforms. I believe the situation could be stabilized by getting the European Council to make a commitment in principle that they will pull together the new $15 billion package that the IMF requires in order to release the next tranche of its original package at the end of January 2015. Based on that commitment the Federal Reserve could be asked to extend a $15 billion three months swap arrangement with the National Bank of Ukraine. That would reassure the markets and avoid a panic.

    ...

I am ready to call Jack Lew of the US Treasury to sound him out about the swap agreement.
One wonders what other matters of national importance involve George Soros getting on the line with the US Treasury Secretary to arrange virtually unlimited funds courtesy of the US Federal Reserve just to promote one person's ulterior agenda?

And just like that, conspiracy Theory becomes Conspiracy Fact once again.

    The full documents are below:

Ironically, the first document laying out the "short and medium-term comprehensive strategy for new Ukraine" and signed by George Soros, "a self-appointed advocate of the New Ukraine", was ironically created by Tamiko Bolton, the 40 year old who became Soros' third wife several years ago.

    Soros Ukraine Strategy

The next letter, one directly sent by Soros to Ukraine's president Poroshenko and prime minister Yatseniuk, comes courtesy of a pdf created by Douglas York, Soros' personal assistant.

    Priority To Fix Financial Markets

Finally, a letter (authored by Yasin Yaqubie of the International Crisis Group based on its pdf metadata properties), which lobbies the US "to do more."

Ukraine Letter to Potus - Lethal Aid

To sum up: Soros is basically lobbying on behalf of Ukraine, pushing for cash and guns, to oppose Putin in every way possible.

If genuine, and based on their meta data, they appear to be just that, these lettes show how Soros is trying to weasel around the Minsk agreements (for instance, how to train Ukrainian soldiers without having a visible NATO presence in Ukraine). The documents link up Nuland with Soros, and clears up who is truly pulling the strings of the US State Department.

Finally, while the documents don't mention what Soros has in store for Ukraine, one can use their imagination.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Vladimir Kozhin, President Vladimir Putin’s

some parts of the system and changing contract terms such as the pricing.

“The Iranians want them as soon as possible, and we are trying too. There is
activity to prepare new legal contracts, new conditions and thus prepare systems

Israel planning false flag attack in US to create war with Iran: Ex-US Senate candidate

Wednesday 3rd June 2015 at 10:39 By David Icke

‘Israel is preparing to carry out a false flag operation in the United States and will
blame it on Iran as a strategy to entangle Washington in a war with Tehran, a
    former US Senate candidate says.

“I have maintained from the beginning that Israel is planning and will in some point
attempt a false flag incident probably within the continental United States that will
be facilitated by Israeli intelligence and falsely blamed on Iran,” said Mark Dankof,
who is also a broadcaster and pastor in San Antonio, Texas.

“This lie will be repeated in the American news media time and time and time again
to create the furor within the United States, with the American public for
[triggering] an overt American attack on the Iranians,” Dankof told Press TV on Tuesday.’

No military solution to conflict in Libya: UN

Wednesday 3rd June 2015 at 06:26 By David Icke

‘The United Nations envoy to Libya says “there is no military solution” to the
conflict in the North African country where rivals fail to “win a war”.

Bernardino Leon said on Tuesday that many of the competing factions in the
country were “strong enough to go to war, not strong enough to win a war.”

Leon made the remarks in an address to the US-Islamic World Forum held in Doha,
Qatar, adding that a meeting among Libyan parties and political leaders will
    commence in Algeria on Wednesday.

He noted that he believed 75 percent of political leaders in the war-ravaged country
    wanted peace.’

Escalating US-China Tensions: Australia ‘Actively Considering’ Dangerous Provocation in South China Sea

Wednesday 3rd June 2015 at 07:23 By David Icke

‘Amid escalating tensions between the US and China over the South China Sea, the
Australian government is “actively considering conducting its own ‘freedom of
navigation’ exercises near artificial islands built by China in disputed territory,”
according to a front-page article featured in today’s Australian.

Written by the newspaper’s foreign editor Greg Sheridan, who is well-connected in
defence circles in Washington and Canberra, the article revealed that what is under
discussion is far more provocative than recent US military operations close to
Chinese-controlled atolls. “The Royal Australian Air Force aircraft would fly within
12 nautical miles (22 kilometres) of an artificial island build by the Chinese, with
Beijing certain to react,” Sheridan stated.’

The timing of this is very fishy............

As Putin said this is all about trying to take away Russia's World Cup , just
as they tried and failed with the Winter Olympics a few years ago. FIFA may
well be a corrupt organisation. But it has been for decades so the timing is
very suspicious especially led by the US , who have failed to go after their
own criminals dynasties , Bush , Clintons etc.........

FIFA President Sepp Blatter announces resignation

Wednesday 3rd June 2015 at 06:45 By David Icke

‘FIFA President Sepp Blatter has announced his intention to step down as head of
the world’s governing body of football, amid a corruption scandal that involves
    several top FIFA officials.

In a press conference held in FIFA’s headquarters in the Swiss city of Zurich on
Tuesday, Blatter announced his intention to quit just days after he won the body’s
    presidential election.

“I felt compelled to stand for re-election, as I believed that this was the best thing
for the organization. That election is over but FIFA’s challenges are not. FIFA needs
    a profound overhaul,” he said.
He added that although he has a mandate from the membership of FIFA, he felt he
did not have “a mandate from the entire world of football.”’

US deploys B-52 nuclear bombers to Baltic Sea exercises

Sunday 7th June 2015 at 04:00 By David Icke

‘The United States has deployed three B-52 nuclear bombers to take
part in military exercises with NATO partners in the Baltic region
    amid heightened tensions with Russia.

“The deployment demonstrates the United States’ ability to project its
flexible, long-range global strike capability,” the US Strategic Command
said in a statement on Friday.

Scores of ships and aircraft from 17 countries are participating in Baltic
Sea naval drills as part of exercise BALTOPS, which began on Friday and
    will run through June 20.’

Overall, 5,600 troops, 49 ships, 61 aircraft and a submarine will be
involved in the US-led military exercises. The war game comes as
Washington seeks to reassure European allies amid heightened
tensions with Russia over the crisis in Ukraine.

Russia views the drills as an indication of NATO’s encroachment on its
borders and has organized a series of large-scale military exercises over
the past months in the Baltic, Black Sea and Arctic region to show its
military prowess. The amphibious command ship USS Mount Whitney
leads a formation of foreign naval vessels in the Baltic Sea during Baltic
Operations (BALTOPS) on June 16, 2013.

The Obama administration is considering new “deterrence strategies”
prevent Russia from meddling in Europe.

The approach involves boosting militaries of allies and potential partners,
expanding the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and increased training
exercises, The Wall Street Journal reports. The measures stem from a
recognition that sanctions alone have failed to make Russian President
    Vladimir Putin reverse course.

“It’s clear the sanctions are working on the Russian economy, but
is not apparent is that that effect on his economy is deterring Putin
from following the course that was evidenced in Crimea last year,”
Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said Friday in Germany.

US President Barack Obama meets with leaders of European allies
this weekend in Germany, where he is expected to push for a tougher
    stance against Moscow.

"Erdogan’s Governing Party in Turkey Loses Parliamentary Majority..."

"ISTANBUL — Turkish voters delivered a rebuke on Sunday to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as his party lost its majority in Parliament in a historic election that thwarted his ambition to rewrite Turkey’s Constitution and further bolster his clout.

The results represented a significant setback for Mr. Erdogan, an Islamist who has steadily increased his power since being elected last year as president, a partly but not solely ceremonial post. The prime minister for more than a decade before that, Mr. Erdogan has pushed for more control of the judiciary and cracked down on any form of criticism, including prosecuting those who insult him on social media, but his efforts appeared to have run aground on Sunday.

The vote was also a significant victory to the cadre of Kurds, liberals and secular Turks who found their voice of opposition to Mr. Erdogan during sweeping antigovernment protests two years ago. For the first time, the Kurdish slate crossed a 10 percent threshold required to enter Parliament.

Turkey's Election Sends Message to Erdogan

Mr. Erdogan’s Justice and Development Party, or A.K.P., still won the most seats by far, but not a majority, according to preliminary results released Sunday night. The outcome suggests contentious days of jockeying ahead as the party moves to form a coalition government. Already, analysts were raising the possibility Sunday of new elections if a government cannot be formed swiftly. Many Turks were happy to see Mr. Erdogan’s powers curtailed, even though the prospect of a coalition government evokes dark memories of political instability and economic malaise during the 1990s.

With 99 percent of the votes counted, the A.K.P. had won 41 percent of the vote, according to TRT, a state-run broadcaster, down from nearly 50 percent during the last national election in 2011. The percentage gave it an estimated 258 seats in Turkey’s Parliament, compared with the 327 seats it has now.

“The outcome is an end to Erdogan’s presidential ambitions,” said Soner Cagaptay, an expert on Turkey and a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

Almost immediately, the results raised questions about the political future of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who moved to that position from that of foreign minister last year and was seen as a loyal subordinate of Mr. Erdogan.

Speaking Sunday night from a balcony at the party headquarters in Ankara, Mr. Davutoglu struck notes of triumph and optimism, touting his party as the winner because it won the most seats, without mentioning the loss of its majority.

“The elections once again showed that the A.K. Party is the backbone of Turkey,” he said.

Mr. Erdogan, who as president was not on the ballot Sunday, will probably remain Turkey’s dominant political figure even if his ambitions have been curtailed, given his outsize personality and his still-deep well of support among Turkey’s religious conservatives, who form the backbone of his constituency. But even among those supporters, including ones in Kasimpasa, the Istanbul neighborhood where Mr. Erdogan spent part of his youth, there are signs that his popularity is flagging.

“A lot of people in Kasimpasa have become disheartened by Erdogan’s aggressive approach in recent weeks,” said Aydin, 77, who gave only his first name because some of his family members are close to Mr. Erdogan. “I voted for the A.K.P. because it has become habit, but I think Erdogan lost votes this week.”

Turnout was 86 percent for the elections, which were seen as a referendum on Mr. Erdogan’s tenure, especially his plan for a presidential system that would have given him more power. Polling had consistently shown that the majority of Turks are opposed to the change.

By law, Mr. Erdogan can call for new elections after 45 days if a coalition is not formed, and the political uncertainty sent Turkey’s currency, the lira, to a record low against the dollar in after-hours trading.

The vote turned on the historic performance at the ballot box of Turkey’s Kurdish minority, which aligned with liberals and secular Turks opposed to Mr. Erdogan’s leadership to win almost 13 percent of the vote, passing the legal threshold for earning representation in Parliament.

Selahattin Demirtas, 42, a former human rights lawyer who leads the largely Kurdish People’s Democratic Party, told reporters Sunday night: “As of this hour, the debate about the presidency, the debate about dictatorship, is over. Turkey narrowly averted a disaster.”"" link
