History is written by the victor, one of many quotes about how propaganda is used
to belittle any particular enemy or rival. The Persians looked down on the Greek city
states , until Alexander. The Greeks then Romans referred to most tribes and states
as Barbarians , this has gone on thru out recorded history, right up to today with
Iranians ( Persians) , some Arabic states and Putin back in the western press firing
line as 'bogey men' . As every empire , military ind complex has needed an enemy
to justify their policies and expenditure on arms. In the past war was for land ,
slaves or power and sometimes for prestige and bravado by the elite warrior class's.

There has been all sorts of reasons justified for going to war,and the latest mess in
Ukraine , Syria , Iraq , Libya and other flash points are only the latest in a very
long continuing line .I doubt if there has been a time that man was not killing man
in a military conflict somewhere in the world.

Anyway I started this post as I have been watching the BBC documentary on
Napoleon , as part of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo , and the
historian makes it clear from the start how Napoleon has been vilified and
compared to other megalomaniac war leaders. When in fact he was a commoner
and quite enlightenedfor the time, and established many civic structures still
in use in France today. He did eventually succumb to his own illusions of power by
crowning himself Emperor of France and King of Italy, and fought many campaigns
and battles , mostly started by foreign coalitions sponsored by the British ,
(Rothchilds etc.) who also financed all sides.

    ======================================

I have no truck with Kings , Queens ,Emperors or glorified Presidents and
politicians, but the point is propaganda is everywhere from your favourite football
team to national pride and in the documentary it amused me to hear the
historian sounds like a 'conspiracy theorist ' when he is trying to give Napoleon a
even independent press , and say he was no different to many others in power at
the time , better than some worse than others.

I'm not comparing Napoleon and Hitler , just pointing out as we have been
discussing here and elsewhere, that who owns the press and writes the history
    books can slant history.
