Exclamation People who are so easily offended are they weak-spirited & insecure? or is it that they can not handle the truth?

In general speaking, when (weak spirited) people are so easily "offended", can only happen if there is (some) truth to it. If that is not allowed to be expressed (=ending free speech) the only thing that is left is "political correct" talk in a Dystopian Society that is 1000 times worse than any "feelings" that people MAY have felt "offended".

... and is it even more weak if some one feels "offended" by a question with full intention to be corrected if the assumption is false!

To question means "I do not know (for sure)" ... could be true ... yes or no?

To question is NOT the same "it must be" or "it surely is".

Sometimes the intonation of voice comes across that some ones mind is already made up and asks questions not to learn something new but to reassure own prejudgments THAT is not a sincere question! So you have know the difference between honest questions & people who are totally convinced they already know the answer, then why bother to ask I would say.

Hi John, this seems like a subject with many layers : ), something must have invoked this questions within you..

People may 'take offence' as a defense mechanism and as you said- to protect their world paradigm, some can be offended because a question directed to them has touched a sensitive spot and others because the culture or their surrounding has not taught them to openly relate to certain matters. Feelings don't come easy to everyone, their expression certainly isn't.

Can you share any specific example to this kind of happening?

    All the best,

    Limor

Yes, and when bullies band together, it is called group-think. In group-think, there comes into being a collective ego, a collective "I", although the bullies in the group-think are not aware of it. But the individual being bullied is aware of the collective "I" of the bullying group, that's for sure.

All one can do in a situation where one is being bullied by a collective ego is to stand fast in one's own knowing and not let the projections of the bullying group get to one, because that's all they are...projections.

p.s. It is the height of cowardice for a group to bully an individual. It is a sign of weakness, and it is a sign of severe doubt by the individuals in the group of the values they purport to hold. And of course, everyone knows that when people bully in groups, they are not really defending their values at all, but have merely found a target for their repressed aggressions and that they are giving vent to their shadow side.

People are so closely identified with their belief system that any attempt to bring new information, that does not confirm their opinion, is taken personally.
The ego would rather see its host die than be wrong. Or better still remove the other.
People die for a cause that is unworthy, believing they are doing the right thing.
    That's the extreme of it.
In lesser matters, yes people are easily offended if their point of view is challenged, no matter what evidence there is to the contrary.
Insecurity may be a factor though they may not be aware of this---weak spirited, depends on the situation.
As Silkie pointed out collective ego, you would have to be very strong willed to go against the action/belief of your "gang"--you fear being an outcast, or worse. An energy field is created by the like minded which attracts more like minded.
Its hard to go against "People just like me" not that you would want to, at least initially.

More and more I feel that when people are easily offended it is because they've been triggered.

One cannot feel offended, imho, if one hasn't already been offended (hurt) in that area many times before.

Sometimes, people seem to be offended for the most ridiculous reasons which would normally not offend the average person. Why? To me, it's triggers! The reactions are mostly subconscious.

Emotional intelligence would prevent one from feeling offended unless the offence was blatantly meant to hurt.

Emotional intelligence is very much lacking in a planet with a history of so much pain.

The bigger the ego the easier it is to be offended. There is nothing difficult in handling the truth unless truth says "you are wrong"
This is one reason the matrix is hell bent on feeding the ego It cause division through offense and competition.

    Agreed, Daughter of Time.

I believe people react to their own consciousness/soul without knowing how it works and misinterpret their own experience and the react the only way they know how. What I've learned is that when people do not believe in truth their soul contains painful emotions. When people with false beliefs/painful emotions are exposed to truth the false beliefs are experienced but people often times assume that the origin of the pain or disturbance is from the truth teller and not themselves. Speaking the truth is like pouring salt on a wound that you didn't know you had. If a person is unaware of how their own consciousness works then they may blame the truth or the truth teller for their pain believing that the one speaking the truth "hurt them" when in fact they were already hurt and the truth just exposed it.

So if you honestly believe that the US Government can do no wrong, that they are purely loving and saintly and that they could not possibly ever violate anyone then being exposed to people talking about false flag attacks, 9/11, fast and furious, etc, would be triggering of those false beliefs. If one does not have false beliefs in their soul then they are not disturbed by being exposed to truth. Banning free speech is about suppressing the truth and protecting evil so it can live and dominate.

I have noticed a new direction into more concern about politeness and manners. It's about time. There is too much rudeness.
