It is said of
'Sorcerers'
that they sleep until they are needed/called. They sleep to retain and store their energies, that is one reason they live so long!
The realm they work/act in would drain them if they did not retreat, it also makes them far stronger.

Being in retreat as it where they keep them selves away from the 'Demons/Jinn' that they call upon for great deeds of power! The more you call on Demons/Jinn the more they now you until a point is reached that they are able to control you, own you!
