Default To Avalon Ham Radio operators: the ISS is [not] reporting craft activity on 145.8 MHz

    .
    Hi, All:

My attention was drawn to this just now. It's a publicly accessible Facebook post here:

    http://facebook.com/alfrediangray

Screenshot below for the record, posted 8 hours ago:

    It says:
A USAF officer contacted me and told me to stop what I am doing. That I am getting to close to the truth. I have been monitoring 145.8 MHz radio band and have intercepted air to ground transmissions from the International Space Station. There is something going on in Earth's orbit, something big time! From what I have picked up there are 5 to 7 motherships out beyond the Moon's orbit and they send scout ships into Earth atmosphere for reconnaissance. This has been going on for over a month. ISS astronauts are scared, they are getting buzzed by these craft. They arent calling them UFO they know exactly what they are and say they have been here before. The configurations of the scout ships show the astronauts on ISS that they are preparing for something. Some of the ship come into Earth orbit and have just set themselves up in geosynchronous orbit. I dont know what to do, the Air Force officer who was a Air Force police officer wearing plain clothes said that I can not leave town and that the FBI will be by to question me, they say I hacked their telecommunications system but I did not, I used a HAM radio to pick up the transmissions from the ISS. Anybody can do it at that frequency it is not illegal. The officer demanded any records I had of the ISS astronauts and I gave him the master copy, I have two other copies. Luckily I'm using this facebook account which is encrypted and they won't be able to tell what I'm doing. I'm thinking of skipping town. I have a plan for this in case I thought this might happen, which I thought it might, I have been hacking some low level government computers, Not United States, but Canada and Great Britain. I always chose American allies because I thought they wouldn't be able to detect me so well and if they caught me then the US government wouldn't be so ready to turn me over to them. Plus the USA is a big country. I have friends on my underground network who I can trust and who wont rat me out, I'm going to look them up and contact them, to see if one can shelter me for a few months. Get ready something big is going to happen within about a month give or take a couple of days.
The 145.8 MHz radio band is indeed in the public domain.

    How to hear the ISS

Now, this might VERY well be a hoax, or a bad joke. The last line
Quote Get ready something big is going to happen within about a month give or take a couple of days.
...might be a clear giveaway (nothing in the text suggests that conclusion). And the above is certainly NOT encrypted.

If it's known or discovered to be a hoax, please do post here soonest and we'll make the statement and close the thread.

But it may be checkable by a number of Avalon members we know who are radio hams and certainly have the capability to listen in. Do please keep us posted on anything you may find.

Edit to add, 23 August: Yes, this is a certain hoax (for anyone new to the thread, do read on below). But the thread will be left open, as the discussion has been very interesting. My thanks to all who have pitched in.

I don't have a Facebook account - that might be why I can't see it?

There have been quite a few reports of UFO's around the ISS lately...

Yes that may be the case.

In any event it will be interesting to hear from any Avalon members on this with a Ham radio. Makes me want to go out and buy one...but the stores are all closed...Darn!

    KiwiElf,

Since you can't see it, the facebook page says the guy is a UFO lecturer and lives in ...guess where?....Las Vegas. Not sure who he is because his page name is rather vague. It says:

    Gray Ian Al
    (UFO lecturer)

Yes. That's another factor that suggests a hoax. The 145.8 MHz frequency described in the post is more for the astronauts chatting to schoolkids. Any sensitive traffic would surely be on another band (or a different communications means altogether).

Wow Bill, this is a very good catch! Will be interesting to do some research on this to find out is it a hoax or not... What to me suggests this is a hoax is the bragging of having hacked Canada/UK governments, makes little sense to do so without adding any obvious reasons why that needs to be mentioned in the story at all... appears to be the play of a young teen... Interesting though is that the activity explained to be going on is not extremely far fetched, some ET surveillance I find plausible.

Also interesting that he said "in a month give or take a couple of days", why not in 4 and a half month and with an explanation of why. So yeah, hoax by default...

You would certainly think so. Unless communications were interrupted for the same reason. But that's a stretch.

Whoever this guy is he sure does not like MUFON. I must say however it's refreshing to see a facebook with no...well....you know...

    Like you Bill,

this line makes me highly suspicious:

Quote Get ready something big is going to happen within about a month give or take a couple of days.
That would take us slap-bang to the September doom-event date. How would the Ham know this, or even more curious, why would he say this?

This event does not ring true to me. Just my opinion.

    Many thanks.

Note that there are also 'repeater' modes in the list. You don't need much to get on that transponder.
Any joker could have faked messages 'from the ISS' while it is used in repeater mode.

Sensitive communication will at least be multiple digitally encrypted and may even be sent by optical connection.
This case may also be about deliberately leaked 'dis-info'.

Whether it's true or a hoax I don't know, but it is interesting:

Quote The 145.8 MHz frequency described in the post is more for the astronauts chatting to schoolkids. Any sensitive traffic would surely be on another band (or a different communications means altogether).
145.8 MHZ does fall within the Amateur Radio 2 Meter (VHF) Band, however I didn't see where he stated a precise frequency.

    i.e. 145.8??

Taking a look at the Global Frequency Database (Which I'm sure isn't 100% complete) shows 145.8 MHz is used for Ham Radio to ISS communications, as Bill stated. However the chart also shows that NORAD uses 145.825 MHz and 145.840 MHz, which I find rather interesting since this band is allocated to Amateur Radio use only.

I don't know, maybe these are the frequencies that NORAD uses for tracking Santa Clause?

Hmn, come to think of it isn't Santa Clause the code word for UFO?

Seriously though, what was stated in the quoted content above is absolutely correct. All sensitive traffic would be encrypted.

There! After talking my way through this, I vote hoax.

BTW if you're interested in scanning around for activity try the SUWS Farnham WebSDR receiver, which is optimized for reception of satellites

    http://websdr.suws.org.uk/

(The normally used mode of transmission is FM-nrw.)

IMO this reads like many other "leaked" warnings that turned out to be hoaxes, psyops, disinfo, distraction or put out there to ultimately discredit specific groups of people who may have bought into it. Too many hooks and the language seems way too contrived...the author(s) worked too hard at trying to make him sound like "a regular guy". It's either a hoax or it's been put out there to get everyone worked up about it.

Let's not forget Werner Von Braun's statements to Carol Rosin about false flags, including a faked "alien invasion", planned long ago to usher in the Global government or whatever it is they're rushing to implement.

Von Braun's statements about terrorism and asteroids are playing out, so why not his statement on alien invasions as well?

Info on Von Braun's statements to Carol Rosin, interview and other info brought to you by Linda Moulton Howe via bibliotecapleyades.net can be found here:

I read this few days ago :

Coleford radio enthusiast's International Space Station chat

Quote An amateur radio enthusiast managed to get a quick chat with the International Space Station (ISS) after a month of trying to get through from his shed.
Adrian Lane, of Gloucestershire, sent out a call signal to the ISS and was "stunned" when he received a reply.
He said: "They came back to me and said, 'Receiving you - welcome aboard the International Space Station'."
Mr Lane, from Coleford, and a US astronaut chatted for about 45 seconds before the station went out of range.
He had been trying to "catch the ISS on a pass" when he finally got through at the end of a four-minute "contact window".
    'Over so quickly'
"It was a very hectic time on the bands, people were trying hard to get through," he said.

"So, I just sat back and waited until the main stream calling had died down a little bit and gave them a call and they came back to me."
With the "adrenaline pumping", Mr Lane said he had to think of a response fast because "these guys are moving away from you all the time".
"I asked him what the stars looked like from up there and he came back to me and said with no atmosphere up here the stars are really bright," he said.
"But he told me when you look down on earth it's something else - it's just a mass of colour where everything else up here is black."
Although Mr Lane said he had been "really chuffed", he said it was "a shame it was over so quickly".
"It's quite an achievement, especially when you consider he's flying over the top of me at 17,500 mph," he said.
"I don't know if I'll ever do it again but will still be trying."

Adrian does not say what frequency he used but he had to catch small window of opportunity when the station passes above the UK.

When things are written they can impart feeling in them. My feeling is that this person is playing a prank for reasons I don't understand. It doesn't feel like he (it feels like a guy) was scared or ready to flee, it feels like he was having fun writing it.

    Kindly.
