This is perhaps an interesting example of the crazy times we live in. There’s got to be something strange going on when you read that the world’s slowest game is evolving almost by the month, or see the 5-day version playing out faster than a 20-over game, or find one side scoring a third of the other’s total in the space of one over. The whole thing is getting beyond freaky.

Aussie's starting to wobble in second innings...

    Aus 175-5...Posted at 16:56

    Michael Clarke

Chants of 'Sacked in the morning' rung around Trent Bridge as Clarke trooped
disconsolately off - it's an undignified end for a brilliant batsman who seems to
have suffered a terminal loss of mojo. Peter Nevill is the new batsman - he's
certainly capable of a gritty fifty but Australia need something of an altogether
different order here. Finn gets the ball hooping past the new man's outside edge.

Congratulations England, the current team seems like a pretty decent group of people and I hope they enjoy their home-soil victory. I think this will create quite the build up for the next series in Australia in a couple of years.

The fifth and final test at the ovel started Friday and after
Capt Cook won the toss and put the Aussies into bat. The
old cricket Empire has 'stormed' into a commanding lead
on day three. The game is slipping out of Englands grasp
    rather to rapidly !!

Australia hit 431 in the first innings ....

Its just as well the aussies shot themselves in the foot for three tests
because England were not a better team man for man but did play
a lot better than them in 3 of the 5 tests and conditions played
a big part in the resulting test series just coming to an end , with an
emphatic win fro the 'Baggy Greens'......

    ====================================================

15:18...Eng 273-9 (Aus need one wicket to win)

Peter Siddle, the lost man of this series, from the Vauxhall End - and he also
decides Finn needs some chin music. Finn fends off a single to fine leg, and the
Aussie drinks waiters - Shane Watson, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Shaun
Marsh - are having a whale of a time, laughing and joking by the boundary. Moeen
brings Finn back on strike, and another fortuitous edge brings England's number 11
a four through the slips. He has eight from 11 balls - very tidy for a number 11.

    ====================================================

    WICKET

Moeen c Nevill b Siddle 35 (Eng 286 all out)

    Posted at 15:27

And it's all over - a straightforward nick to the keeper ends Moeen's defiance and
gives Siddle his fourth wicket. Australia have wrapped up the win.

    Farewell Michael Clarke

    Michael Clarke

Retiring Australia captain Michael Clarke on Sky Sports: "Both Chris [Rogers] and I
made it very clear that this win wasn't about us, it was about showing that fight
and determination that is the Australian way. I've been really lucky to play with
some fantastic players who have given everything for the team and Chris is
definitely one of those. I might still wear the baggy green around the house!"
