Default Explosive Wildfires in Northern CA - Lake, Napa, Amador and Calaveras Counties

A fire that broke out yesterday nearby in Lake County had consumed 40,000 acres by this morning and has spread into Napa County where I live. Containment is currently at 0%. Thousands have been evacuated into the fairgrounds in our town. Hundreds of homes and several wineries, farms and businesses lost. At least two towns are completely gone, and these towns served as evacuation centers for last month's massive fire. Several people that work for me have lost their homes and pets. It is unbelievable how quickly this has spread. Very sad situation.

Another fire, East of Sacramento (Amador and Calaveras Counties) has burned 65,000 acres. I imagine the situation there is as bad if not worse.

We had a light rain last night but it didn't seem to make a difference. That's how parched it has become since (IMO) the engineering of our draught began about four years ago.

Please send prayers, positive thoughts to the thousands of firefighters that are risking their lives trying to contain these monsters as well as to the people who have lost their pets, homes and belongings.

I live up in the foothills and it is has never been as smoky as it is right now.
Here is a site with current updates to the fire.

Thanks for that...your map is more detailed than CalFire's.

Are you somewhat in the clear?

Yes in the clear here, there has seemed to be fires on all sides these last few years though.
I cannot believe harbin hotsprings burned down.

I know! (( There's another Avalonian in the area and I just heard he's OK after an all night battle to save his property. I can't imagine...

    I'm glad you're OK.

I'm close enough to see plenty of smoke in the air from this fire, today... but clear of all flaming activity. Maybe we'll get some nice, fresh rainfall tonight... Anyone else care to join me in an impromptu rain dance?

I forget where I saw someone reporting supposedly seeing some alphabet agency agent deliberately setting at least one of the recent Washington fires, I'm not yet convinced this one wasn't also deliberate.

There is ZERO being said about the cause and it coincidentally started at the most opportune time for quick spreading and uncontrollability due to odd winds and after a week straight of 100+ temps. It's the poorest, most run down, drug and alcoholism rampant closest neighbor of the bountiful and rich Sonoma/Napa wine country counties. Good way to raze the ratholes instead of the hopelessness of trying to clean it up. Soon there might be lots more prime vineyard land available to buy too since they're running out of it in Sonoma/Napa.

Big also... I almost heaved when today's TV report about the fire included showing Gov. Jesuit Jerry Brown declaring emergency in Lake/Napa Counties... but quickly adding that the fires were 'caused' by climate change and that it was clearly more evidence that more has to be done in response - which means more excuse for more orwellian impositions and controls.

It will be interesting to see who will end up being the big benefactors of this destruction.
