    Courts Hand Losses To Electors
    In Anti-Trump Movement

Electors hoping to convince their peers not to vote for Donald Trump lose requests for court orders that would block state laws requiring electors to vote for the winner of the popular vote

Two federal courts and a state supreme court on Friday handed losses to members of the electoral college who are seeking the right to vote for a presidential candidate of their choice, as opposed to the candidate who won the popular vote in their state.

The cases involve states that Hillary Clinton won in November — California, Colorado, and Washington — but they’re part of a broader effort to embolden electors elsewhere who may want to vote against Donald Trump in states that he won. A favorable ruling for challengers in one court could provide a template for electors who want to challenge similar laws in their state.

With electors nationwide set to meet on Monday in their states to vote for the president and vice president, a federal district judge in San Jose, California, and a three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Friday denied requests to block enforcement of laws in California and Washington that require electors to vote for the winner of the popular election in those states.

The Colorado Supreme Court on Friday declined to hear a case brought by electors in that state, leaving in place a lower court judge’s ruling against the electors. A case in federal court is pending.

Donald Trump won 306 electoral votes, compared with Hillary Clinton’s 232 votes. Anti-Trump electors and activists want to convince other electors not to vote for Trump in order to bring his total down below the threshold of 270 electoral votes that he needs to win. A tie would send the election to the US House of Representatives.

Not all states have laws that bind electors to the results of the popular vote, but California, Colorado, and Washington are among those that do. The electors suing in those states argue that the US Constitution gives them the right to vote for whichever candidate they believe is “fit and qualified” to be president.

In the California case, US District Judge Edward Davila wrote on Friday that the electors raised a “serious question” about the constitutionality of placing limits on how electors vote. But he found that the challengers failed to show that they would face “irreparable harm” — in this case, criminal prosecution — if the court didn’t act now and they voted for a candidate other than Clinton.

The challengers appealed late Friday to the Ninth Circuit.

In the Washington case, the electors who sued have said that they want to cast votes in a way that would hurt Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency because they believe he is unfit for the office. The Ninth Circuit said in a two-page order on Friday that the challengers failed to show they were likely to succeed on their constitutional claims or that they would suffer irreparable harm absent immediate action by the court.

The Washington electors took the case to the Ninth Circuit after a federal district judge ruled against them on Thursday. US District Judge James Robart found that most of the consequences the Washington electors said they feared they would face if they didn’t vote for Clinton—being removed as an elector and being fined $1,000 — were unsupported or contradicted by the law or the facts.

Sumeer Singla, a lawyer for the Washington electors, told BuzzFeed News that they haven’t decided yet whether to attempt to take the case to the US Supreme Court. A lawyer for the California electors was not immediately reached for comment.

In Colorado, a state court judge on Dec. 12 denied an injunction to electors challenging that state’s law. The Colorado Supreme Court on Friday declined to hear the case, leaving the lower court judge’s order in place.

The Colorado challengers have a separate case pending in federal court. A federal district judge on Dec. 12 denied their request for an order blocking the state from enforcing its elector voting law, and the Tenth Circuit has yet to rule on the challengers’ appeal.

Jason Wesoky, a lawyer for the Colorado electors, said that they were disappointed with the results in court so far, “but that doesn’t diminish our efforts.” It took courage for the electors to come forward, Wesoky said, and “we hope that a court has similar courage to take up this issue on its substance and its merits without dismissing it as a political stunt.”

    UPDATE

The Tenth Circuit on Friday evening denied the Colorado electors’ request for an injunction. A three-judge panel found that the electors failed to point to specific provisions of the US Constitution that supported their argument, and didn’t show how they would suffer irreparable harm if the court denied their request for an emergency injunction. All this fits well with Ken's forecast. The various controversies over the Russians, various leaks and hacks, various allegations from the CIA of Russian hacking of the US election, Lawrence Lessig's (a major power broker for decades) accumlating "faithless electors" to vote for someone else other than Trump, etc ... all seem to me a setup to get Congress, when they receive the letters from the Electoral College on Jan 6, 2017, to reject enough of the states electors to throw the election into controversy that would not be decided until after Jan 20, 2017.
Well, well ... looks like another forecast of mine is going to bite the dust.

I've been expecting, in line with Ken over at RedefingGod.com, that Trump's entry into the Whitehouse would be delayed past the usual 20 January, when Congress meets on January 6 to consider the letters from the Electoral College results.

However Lawrence Lessig has now admitted that his efforts to get Trump's electors to not vote for him are failing. As reported in the Zerohedge article Harvard Professor Admits His Efforts To Turn Electoral College Against Trump Have Failed Miserably, Lessig states in a new interview:
Quote “But I think that we are not going to see more than a handful who actually vote against Donald Trump unless that number climbs above 40. Because I think there are many people who think it is just not worth it given especially the pretty explicit threats that have been made against the electors who exercise their constitutional prerogative.”

This article (below) by Moon of Alabama is not conspiracy theory. Read it carefully. Check out the links.
The below theses are thus far only a general outlay...
There is an "elite" coup attempt underway against the U.S. President-elect Trump.
The coup is orchestrated by the camp of Hillary Clinton in association with the CIA and neoconservative powers in Congress.
The plan is to use the CIA's "Russia made Trump the winner" nonsense to swing the electoral college against him. The case would then be bumped up to Congress. Major neocon and warmonger parts of the Republicans could then move the presidency to Clinton or, if that fails, put Trump's vice president-elect Mike Pence onto the throne. The regular bipartisan war business, which a Trump presidency threatens to interrupt, could continue.
Should the coup succeed violent insurrections in the United States are likely to ensue with unpredictable consequences.
No general plan has been published. The scheme though is pretty obvious by now. However, the following contains some speculation.

The priority aim is to deny Trump the presidency. He is too independent and a danger for several power centers within the ruling U.S. power circles. The selection of Tillerson as new Secretary of State only reinforces this (Prediction: Bolton will not get the Deputy position.) [I concur w/ this prospect.] Tillerson is for profitable stability, not for regime change adventures.

    The institutional Trump enemies are:
The CIA which has become the Central Assassination Agency under the Bush and Obama administrations. Huge parts of its budgets depend on a continuation of the war on Syria and the drone assassination campaigns in Afghanistan, Pakistan and elsewhere. Trump's more isolationist policies would likely end these campaigns and the related budget troughs.
The weapons industry which could lose its enormous sales to its major customers in the Persian Gulf should a President Trump reduce U.S. interference in the Middle East and elsewhere.
The neoconservatives and Likudniks who want the U.S. as Israel's weapon to strong arm the Middle East to the Zionists' benefit.
The general war hawks, military and "humanitarian interventionists" to whom any reduction of the U.S. role as primary power in the world is anathema to their believes.
    Read more here...
The article is a documented and accurate description of a coup that is underway. The extraordinary lies that are being perpetrated by the media and by members of the US government have as their obvious purpose the prevention of a Donald Trump presidency. There is no other reason for the extraordinary blatant lies for which there is not a shred of evidence. Indeed, there is massive real evidence to the contrary. Yet the coup proceeds and gathers steam.

President Eisenhower warned us more than a half century ago of the danger that the military/security complex presents to US democracy.

In the decades since Eisenhower’s warning, the military/security complex has become more powerful than the American people and is demonstrating its power by overturning a presidential election.
    Will the coup succeed?
In my opinion, former and present members of the US government and the media would not dare to so obviously and openly participate in a coup against democracy and an elected president unless they expect the coup to succeed.

It is an easy matter for the ruling interests to bribe electors to vote differently than their states. The cost of the bribes is miniscule compared to the wealth and income streams that a trillion dollar annual budget provides to the military/security complex. The fake news of a Putin/Trump election-stealing plot generated by unsupported allegations of present and former members of US intelligence, the lame-duck President Obama, and the presstitute media provide the cover for electors to break with precedent “in order to save America from a Russian stooge.”

The CIA-controlled European media, the politicians in Washington’s European vassal states, NATO officials, and the brainwashed European peoples will support the coup against Trump.

The only ones speaking against the coup are the voters who elected Trump—all of whom are alleged to have been deceived by Russian fake news— the Russian government, and the 200 websites falsely described by the Washington Post and the secret organization PropOrNot as Russian agents.

In other words, those objecting to the coup are the ones described by the coup leaders as those who made the coup necessary.

I do not know that the coup will succeed, but looking at the commitment so many high level people have made to the coup, I conclude that those bringing the coup expect it to succeed.

Therefore, we should take very seriously the expectation of success that those who control levers of power are demonstrating.

    Only a Counter-Coup
    Can Save American Democracy

    —By Paul Craig Roberts
    December 17, 2016
The CIA has long engineered coups in other countries. Now we are approaching at breakneck speed a CIA coup in the USA.

When the presstitute media first published unverifired, unsourced leaks attributed to unnamed CIA officials, both the FBI and the Director of Homeland Security said that they did not embrace the accusation that Trump’s election was a result of Russian interference in the US presidential election.

Now suddenly we have a report from the Washington Post, a rag whose integrity is in doubt and a mainstay of anti-Trump propaganda suspected of being a CIA asset, that the FBI and Homeland Security are in agreement with the anonymous leaks to the presstitutes:

“FBI Director James B. Comey and Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr. are in agreement with a CIA assessment that Russia intervened in the 2016 election in part to help Donald Trump win the White House, officials disclosed Friday, as President Obama issued a public warning to Moscow that it could face retaliation.

New revelations about Comey’s position could put to rest suggestions by some lawmakers that the CIA and the FBI weren’t on the same page on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intentions.”

“The positions of Comey and Clapper were revealed in a message that CIA Director John Brennan sent to the agency’s workforce Friday. ‘Earlier this week, I met separately with FBI [Director] James Comey and DNI Jim Clapper, and there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election,’ Brennan said, according to U.S. officials who have seen the message.”

Note, that this claim comes from the CIA. It has not been verified at this time of writing by the FBI and Homeland Security. Indeed, please note that the Washington Post, which is hyping this story of intelligence agency consensus, reports:

“The CIA and the FBI declined to comment on Brennan’s message or on the classified intelligence assessment that CIA officials shared with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this month, setting off a political firestorm.” In other words, the CIA might be putting words in the mouths of the other intelligence officials.

Note also that Hillary says that Putin interfered against her because he has a grudge against her for her interference in his reelection by fomenting protests against him with the Western-financed Russian NGOs. If what Hillary claims is correct, then any Russian interference, for which proof remains absent, was directed against Hillary in order to settle a score and has nothing to do with any Russian influence over Trump or 200 Internet sites as falsely and maliciously reported by the Washington Post.

All the CIA officials making claims of Russian interference, according to the Washington Post, continue to speak “on the condition of anonymity.”

So we have a coup against the president-elect based solely on unverified, unsourced, anonymous assertions made by the public knows not who.

Rep. Davin Nunes, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, which has oversight over the CIA, has said that neither he nor the committee have seen any evidence from the CIA in support of the claims he reads in the media. He has asked the agency to brief the Intelligence Committee on the alleged evidence but has had no response.

According to the Washington Post, “Nunes said: ‘We have not received any information from Intelligence Community (IC) agencies indicating that they have developed new assessments on this issue. I am alarmed that supposedly new information continues to leak to the media but has not been provided to Congress.’”

Rep. Nunes statement makes it completely clear that the CIA is using the presstitute media to launch a coup against president-elect Trump.

CIA director John Brennan’s audacity suggests that he expects the coup to succeed. Otherwise, he is dead meat along with Bezos, The Washington Post and the rest of the presstitute media.

Trump’s critics on the left and right and among the liberals and progressives have stupidly played into the CIA’s hands. I tried to warn them not to judge Trump by the past associations of his appointees as no change was possible without strong knowledgeable appointees. Those who romanticize Bernie Sanders are out to lunch. A person as weak as Sanders proved to be, completely collapsing in the face of his stolen presidential nomination by Hillary, could not possibly have prevailed over the powerful oligarchic groups that rule America. When we finally get a president-elect strong enough to bring change from the top down, the leftwing-liberal-progressive elements join the CIA in denouncing him!

If the generals Trump has announced as his appointees have been too marginalized within the military by the neoconservatives to be able to provide US military protection against the CIA’s coup against the president-elect, do not expect Donald Trump to be inaugurated as President of the United States on January 20.

We are at the point that only a countercoup against the CIA and the Hillary forces can save American democracy.

High treason is alive and well in the United States, and it is operating against American democracy and president-elect Trump.

    FBI backs CIA view
    that Russia intervened to
    help Trump win election

By Adam Entous and Ellen Nakashima
    December 16 2016

A view of the Kremlin in Moscow during a snowfall on Dec. 8.
    (Maxim Shipenkov/European Pressphoto Agency)
FBI Director James B.

New revelations about Comey’s position could put to rest suggestions by some lawmakers that the CIA and the FBI weren’t on the same page on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intentions.

Russia has denied being behind the cyber-intrusions, which targeted the Democratic National Committee and the private emails of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta. Trump, in turn, has repeatedly said he doubts the veracity of U.S. intelligence blaming Moscow for the hacks.

“I think it’s ridiculous,” Trump said in an interview with “Fox News Sunday,” his first Sunday news-show appearance since the Nov. 8 election. “I think it’s just another excuse. I don’t believe it. . . . No, I don’t believe it at all.”

At a “thank you” event Thursday night with some of her top campaign donors and fundraisers, Clinton said she believed Russian-backed hackers went after her campaign because of a personal grudge that Putin had against her. Putin had blamed Clinton for fomenting mass protests in Russia after disputed 2011 parliamentary elections that challenged his rule. Putin said Clinton, then secretary of state, had “sent a signal” to protesters by labeling the elections “neither free nor fair.”

The positions of Comey and Clapper were revealed in a message that CIA Director John Brennan sent to the agency’s workforce Friday.

“Earlier this week, I met separately with FBI [Director] James Comey and DNI Jim Clapper, and there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election,” Brennan said, according to U.S. officials who have seen the message.

The CIA and the FBI declined to comment on Brennan’s message or on the classified intelligence assessment that CIA officials shared with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee earlier this month, setting off a political firestorm.

In the closed-door Senate briefing, CIA officials said it was now “quite clear” that electing Trump was one of Russia’s goals, according to the officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss intelligence matters.

CIA and FBI officials do not think Russia had a “single purpose” by intervening during the presidential campaign, officials said. In addition to the goal of helping elect Trump, Putin aimed to undermine confidence in the U.S. electoral system, intelligence officials have told lawmakers.

A few days after the Senate briefing, a senior FBI counterintelligence official briefed the House Intelligence Committee but was not as categorical as the CIA briefer about Russia’s intention to help Trump, according to officials who were present. The FBI official’s more cautious presentation of the intelligence to the House panel left some Republican and Democratic lawmakers in the room with the impression that the FBI disagreed with the CIA....

In a recent interview Kissinger seemed to be indicating that Trump will be given a chance to develop a program that is acceptable to the NWO, and if he doesn't, Trump's administration will be torn apart.

At 3:25 in the video below, Kissinger says "... one should not insist on nailing him into positions that he had taken in the campaign on which he doesn't insist. If he insists on them, then of course disagreements will become expressed, but if he develops another program and leaves the question open of what he said in the campaign, one should not make that the decisive element" and "I think we should give him an opportunity to develop the positive objectives that he may have and to discuss those, and we've gone through too many decades of tearing incumbent administrations apart, and it may happen again, but we shouldn't begin that way, and we shouldn't end up that way either, but so that would be my base issue."

Well, I had abandoned my conspiracy theory, that the Trump election would be thrown into chaos, when Lessig said he was having trouble rounding up enough faithless electors.

But just now I noticed Paul Craig Roberts article on Zerohedge, as you posted above, and came here to post it. You already had posted it. Good. Roberts thinks there is still a danger here that the CIA led coup will find a way.

So ... I had fallen off that page ... but with Roberts' article, looks like I'm back on it .

I wouldn't put it past Lessig to put out a false report that he was failing in his efforts, to get Trump supporters to lower their guard. Indeed, the cynic in me figures that the only time that Lessig would pretend to be failing would be if he was succeeding.

I am not aware of any other reports of such threats against faithless electors trying to keep them voting for Trump. I am aware of reports of just such kinds of threats against Trump's electors, trying to get them to turn against Trump, and become faithless.

I took Lessig's blaming threats for his failure to round up enough faithless electors to stop Trump to be the common tactic of blaming one's failures on the other side, accusing them of pretty much exactly whatever sinister deeds your side has been doing.

Given that it took me a few extra minutes to even write my thoughts accurately, with all the twists and turns, and given that I expect many readers will, quite reasonably, choose not to pay too close attention to these complications ... I can well imagine that in all this confusion it often work pretty well to accuse the other side of just what you've been doing wrong yourself.

National Guard will be deputized in DC to be able to arrest the anticipated protesters illegally trying to shut down, and disrupt the inauguration on the 20th of Donald Trump as 45th president of the United States.

    http://www.wnd.com/2016/12/devious-p...-inauguration/

In a brazen statement this was said:

Quote A group of leftist activists is plotting to “shut down” the inauguration of Donald Trump on Jan. 20 – forcing the president-elect to take his oath of office “behind closed doors” – “if Trump is to be inaugurated at all.”

The group, known as the D.C. Counter-Inaugural Welcoming Committee, or #DisruptJ20, says it calls on “all people of conscience to shut down the ceremonies.”

It continues, “If Trump is inaugurated at all, let it happen behind closed doors, showing the world that the vast majority of people in the U.S. do not support his presidency or consent to his rule.”
    ..all people of conscience.. hmmm

Seems that the False Flag being instituted by the Clinton Machine keeps trying to get people to look away from the illegal activities of the Clinton Foundation, the illegal activities of Hillary as US Secretary of State, and keep people looking the other way.. rabidly foaming at the mouth even, watching the diatribe in the MSM supporting the Clinton's and the elite machine which no doubt feels people have looked too closely, behind the curtain to see the inner working of "sausage making"...

    http://www.readingeagle.com/ap/artic...ral-protesters

Quote local and federal officials are preparing for upwards of a million people to pour into the nation's capital and replay some of that drama on Jan. 20, when Donald Trump takes the oath of office as the 45th president.

Officials say they are anticipating a larger-than-usual number of protesters this inauguration but are unsure of exactly what to expect as they converge with Trump supporters at the inaugural ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, the parade that will follow and several planned demonstrations.

But they say they'll be ready with thousands of police officers and National Guard members from across the country assigned to Washington for the weekend. D.C. hotels and rentals are filling up. And city officials are expecting more than 1,500 charter buses.

Judge Andrew Napolitano: Hillary Clinton and personal honesty..

The FALSE FLAG operation is designed to protect the administration (apparently), and Clinton from these allegations:

Clinton's persistent problems with personal honesty have brought her face to face with three more criminal investigations.
    • One is for public corruption.
    • The second is for perjury.
    • And the third is for misleading Congress.

"The Russian's did it"... take a close look at exactly who is pushing that and then dive deep into the Clinton Machine and the immense "swamp" that is being revealed by the actions of those pushing what amounts to what appears to be a gross spin of "news" to keep people fixated on anything BUT Clinton's "big 3" travesties. And those are BIG travesties.. Bigger than any political claim of "Russian Interference"..

WikiLeaks figure says ‘disgusted’ Democrat leaked Clinton campaign emails

Quote Craig Murray, a former British ambassador to Uzbekistan and a close associate of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, said in the report by the Daily Mail that he flew to Washington for a clandestine handoff with one of the email sources in September.

He said he received a package in a wooded area near American University.

“Neither of [the leaks] came from the Russians,” Mr. Murray told the British newspaper. “The source had legal access to the information.

The documents came from inside leaks, not hacks.

WikiLeaks published thousands of emails stolen from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, providing a steady stream of negative news coverage of the Democratic presidential nominee during the final weeks of the campaign.

Mr. Murray said the leakers were motivated by “disgust at the corruption of the Clinton Foundation and the tilting of the primary election playing field against Bernie Sanders.”
So as to manipulating the presidential race, what is being COVERED UP by the Clinton Machine is that the DNC did influence themselves.. NOT the Russians, unless there is something what we all need to know about Clinton Foundation donations received for "influence peddling" that has yet to be uncovered...

Ya.. we can only guess what Michelle said about 'not having hope'... if one can see the point being made here by Dr. Ben Carson:

http://www.nationaldefensemagazine.o...st.aspx?ID=249 - CHINA stands to benefit making it seem like "the Russian's did it"

Quote For 18 minutes in April, China’s state-controlled telecommunications company hijacked 15 percent of the world’s Internet traffic, including data from U.S. military, civilian organizations and those of other U.S. allies.

This massive redirection of data has received scant attention in the mainstream media because the mechanics of how the hijacking was carried out and the implications of the incident are difficult for those outside the cybersecurity community to grasp, said a top security expert at McAfee, the world’s largest dedicated Internet security company.

In short, the Chinese could have carried out eavesdropping on unprotected communications — including emails and instant messaging — manipulated data passing through their country or decrypted messages, Dmitri Alperovitch, vice president of threat research at McAfee said.

Nobody outside of China can say, at least publicly, what happened to the terabytes of data after the traffic entered China.
Like Trump made it very, very perfectly clear, paraphrasing a bit, that anyone with the right tools can do whatever they want..

Quote Said Alperovitch: “This is one of the biggest — if not the biggest hijacks (the CHINESE ATTACK) — we have ever seen.” And it could happen again, anywhere and anytime. It’s just the way the Internet works, he explained. “What happened to the traffic while it was in China? No one knows.”

This ABC News article explains what to expect tomorrow, Monday, December 19, 2016, when the Electoral College members meet in their various states to vote on who should be the next President and Vice President of the US: Electoral College: What to Know About Monday's Vote.

The proceedings are open to the press, and over the day, the various states results will become publicly known. So by evening of Monday, Eastern US time, we'll know if there were enough faithless electors to change the expected result of a Trump victory.

The Washington TIMES (not the "Post") has an online survey:

Poll: Did Russia influence the election in favor of Donald Trump

    Votes:
1197 (13%) yes they (the Russians) did
7948 (83%) no they (the Russians) did not
    423 (4%) no idea (unsure)

Appears to be a good indication of what the popular feeling is, despite MSM efforts to convince the people otherwise..

Unsubstantiated stories have been planted throughout the presstitute media by anonymous CIA officials that Donald Trump’s electoral victory was the result of Russian intervention. This absurd claim has now been elevated to the even more absurd claim that Putin himself oversaw and even conducted the manipulation of the US presidential election.

No evidence has been provided for these amazing claims. The presstitutes are reporting unsubstantiated wild accusations that portend both a constitutional crisis in the US and a crisis with Russia. We know that the presstitutes lie. The presstitutes lied when they reported contrary to the weapons inspectors in Iraq that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. They lied about fake evidence of yellowcake and alumninum tubes. They lied about Saddam Hussein’s al-Qaeda connections. They lied about Iranian nukes despite the unanimous report of all US intelligence agencies that Iran had abandoned interest in nuclear weapons years ago. The presstitutes lied about Assad using chemical weapons against the Syrian people. They lied about Gadaffi. They lied about Russian invasion of Ukraine. They lied about the cause of the Russian/Georgian conflict. They lied about the Sochi Olympics. Now the presstitutes are claiming that Russian interference determined the outcome of the US presidential election and the Brexit vote.

As a result of the prestitutes’ lies, millions of peoples have been killed and dislocated. This blood is all on the heads of the American media. So we know for a proven fact that the US media has no integrity and no conscience.

Now the presstitutes have surpassed their previous level of criminality. They are part and parcel of fomenting a coup against the president-elect and throwing the country into a crisis of unknown proportion.

Tomorrow the Electoral College meets to cast the ballots for president. There is a well organized effort to disrupt this normally routine procedure. Based on CIA lies spread over the country by the presstitutes, 62 electors have requested a CIA briefing prior to the vote on Russian interference in the election. As there is no formal CIA report and no evidence in support of the allegations, the briefing would consist of the allegations.

A Harvard Law School professor, Lawrence Lessig, involved in the Stop-Trump movement, has promised free legal defense of electors who break with precedent and cast their votes differently from the majority vote of their states.

This effort, which presents a grave and continual threat to the Constitution, to domestic tranquility, and to international stability, is said in a nationwide media ad campaign to be necessary in order to block Trump from presenting “a grave and continual threat to the Constitution, to the domestic tranquility, and to international stability.”

    Bloomberg:
Long-Shot to Block Trump Lands at Electoral College Monday
If the effort tomorrow fails, President Obama has put in motion a second shot at blocking Trump’s inauguration with his order to the CIA to produce a report on Russian election meddling prior to January 20. This report could be used to delay the inauguration or to convey to the Amerian public and peoples abroad so many doubts that Trump’s effectiveness as a leader would be undermined.

And of course, the constant assaults on Trump can result in his assassination by a “lone nut” patriot incensed over having in office a president declared by the New York Times to be a Putin stooge and useful idiot for the Russians. This is the newspaper of record’s characterization of the president chosen by the American people.

Professor Michel Chossudovsky of Global Research adds another dimension to the struggle—a fight between rival oligarchic interests. Trump and his announced Secretary of State want the business deals that result from normal relations with Russia. The military/security oligarchs want the immense budgets and power that comes from positioning Russia as a dire threat. Even if Trump survives the CIA’s challenge to his election, his cabinet appointees will have to survive confirmation fights and, if they do, ongoing challenges to their efforts to change policies from policies that favor oligarchs enriched by war to policies that favor oligarchs enriched by peace.

    Prof Michel Chossudovsky:
U.S. Foreign Policy and the Electoral College Vote. Towards a December 19 Surprise?
In other words, whatever the outcome tomorrow and January 20th, the fight is ongoing...

Here is one example of how the "spin" (?) is being presented - possibly to show (out of time sequence) how Clinton's DNC was "invaded" by Russian "Hackers"..

Quote Russian hackers were able to access thousands of emails from the US Democratic National Committee after an aide typed the word “legitimate” instead of “illegitimate” by mistake, an investigation by the New York Times has found.

The revelation gives further credence to the CIA’s finding last week that the Kremlin deliberately intervened in the US presidential election to help Donald Trump. The president-elect has angrily denied the CIA’s assessment, calling it “ridiculous.”

In the run-up to the election, the DNC received numerous phishing emails, the paper reported on Tuesday. One of them was sent to John Podesta, the chairman of Hillary Clinton’s campaign. An aide, Charles Delavan, spotted the message sent to Podesta’s private account. It asked Podesta to change his password.

Delavan realized the email was a phishing attack and forwarded it to a computer technician. However, he made a typo, writing: “This is a legitimate email.” He added: “John needs to change his password immediately.”

The blunder gave Kremlin hackers access to about 60,000 emails in Podesta’s private Gmail account. According to US intelligence officials, Moscow then gave the email cache to WikiLeaks. The website released them in October, and the email scandal dominated the news cycle and was exploited by Trump.

The FBI had known for some time that Russia was making a wide-ranging and systematic attempt to hack US political institutions including the White House and the State Department, the paper reported. In September 2015 the FBI discovered that a cyber-espionage team linked to the Russian government had penetrated the DNC.

But instead of sending a top-level delegation and raising the alarm, the FBI got a single special agent to make a phone call. The agent, Adrian Hawkins, rang the DNC and was put through to the IT helpdesk. He told the tech-support contractor on duty, Yared Tamene, that a group called “the Dukes” had hacked the DNC’s computer networks.

According to the paper, Tamene thought Hawkins’s message might have been a prank call. He googled “Dukes” but found nothing. He then failed to alert senior staff after his cursory search of the DNC’s computer system logs revealed no obvious sign of an intrusion.

Hawkins rang back repeatedly over the next few weeks. Tamene, however, did not respond. “I did not return his calls, as I had nothing to report,” he wrote in a memo seen by the New York Times.

The FBI’s laid-back approach meant that Russian hackers were able to roam inside the DNC’s computer systems for almost seven months, before Democratic officials finally realized the gravity of the attack and brought in external cybersecurity experts.

In March 2016 a second Russian hacking group targeted the DNC. It sent hundreds of phishing emails, which began: “Someone just used your password to try to sign into your Google account.” One of the scam’s victims was Billy Rinehart, a former DNC regional field director, who clicked on the “change password” message while half asleep.

According to the New York Times, the Obama administration was slow to respond to the hacking threat, underestimated its seriousness and fluffed several opportunities to stop it. The resulting email furor damaged Clinton’s election prospects and helped Trump to victory, as the Kremlin had almost certainly intended.
see: http://www.cio-today.com/article/ind...d=101000069011 for the 'rest of the story' ...

Quote After the data breach the DNC hired CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company.

It quickly established the hack had originated in Russia and identified two groups, Cozy Bear and Fancy Bear.

Cozy Bear, linked to Russia’s FSB spy agency, had begun its phishing operation in summer 2015, the paper reported.

Fancy Bear joined the attacks in March 2016. The hacking group is linked to the GRU, Russian military intelligence. It was Fancy Bear that hacked Podesta’s email account, the paper said.
Who is Cozy Bear - http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/...-hacks-n648541

Quote How worried is the NSA about the hacking?
A wide range of intelligence and law enforcement officials have told NBC News that the recent attacks and the threat of escalation are what keep them up at night, especially the question of what other systems might be penetrated.

Lisa Monaco, the top White House adviser on homeland security, said at a conference on Wednesday that the U.S. is responding to the Russian cyberattacks with the same framework it uses to combat terrorism.

And NSA chief Mike Rogers told Congress this week the hacking is "an issue of great focus" and that spy agencies are actively concerned that Russian might try to disrupt the presidential election.
    and

Quote Fancy Bear, also known as APT 28, has been tied to most of the Russia hacks garnering headlines of late, including against the World Anti-Doping Agency and the Democratic Party. U.S. security officials say it has links to GRU, Russia's foreign military intelligence agency

Cozy Bear, which is sometimes called APT 29, was blamed for the hacks of the White House, Joint Chiefs of Staff and State Department. It's believed to be tied to the FSB, Russia's internal security service. The Russians are believed to be using other groups like Anonymous Poland, Guccifer 2.0 and DCLeaks to make their plunder public, investigators say.
We have to thank NBC NEWS (MSM) for the above explanation http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/...-hacks-n648541

You mean all those phishing / scamming emails that I've been getting for the past 2 years, trying to get me to "verify" my email account by providing my password, because of noted suspicious activities, under the threat of closing my account if I don't comply - you mean... those emails were really coming from Russia... i.e. Russian hackers???

doh! I guess I shouldn't have been so quick to delete those emails... Just going to have to be paying better attention....

    Default Re: Transition into Trump

With even Harvard's Larry Lessig admitting that his efforts to flip the Electoral College against Trump have failed miserably (see "Harvard Professor Admits His Efforts To Turn Electoral College Against Trump Have Failed Miserably"), it's a near certainty that Trump will, in fact, be elected President when the Electoral College casts their votes tomorrow.

That said, there could always be surprises and, as such, The Hill has published a list of five things you should keep an eye on as electors get set to cast their ballots. First, here is how the 538 electors should cast their ballots if they all strictly follow the will of the voters in their respective states.

That said, we know that at least one Texas elector, Chris Suprun, has vowed to go rogue tomorrow and anxious eyes will be waiting to see if anyone decides to join him. As The Hill points out, there hasn't been an election since 1836 in which more than 1 elector changed his vote, so even 2 defectors would make history.
There’s no evidence of a widespread number of Republican defections—just one Republican elector from Texas has gone public with plans to break from Trump.

But there hasn’t been an election in which more than one elector jumped ship for reasons other than the death of a candidate since 1836, according to the nonprofit FairVote. So a defection by even one more Republican elector would make history.
The next thing to watch is whether any Democrat electors will cast protest votes. A small group of Democratic electors had vowed to join Larry Lessig's coup attempt by throwing their support behind an alternative Republican candidate. While this now seems like a remote possibility, it is something to watch for.
Democratic electors are the ones beating the drums for the revolt, yet they’re largely powerless to change the outcome.

A handful of electors are already planning on uniting around a Republican alternative as a protest, but it’s still unclear how many are willing to join the protest.

In theory, a unified front of the 232 Democrats could join with 38 Republicans to elect an alternative president. But in practice, the anti-Trump electors will be lucky if more than a dozen Democrats break.

With 29 states and the District of Columbia binding their electors by law, it will also be interesting to see if anyone in those states choose to defect, and if so, what penalties will be levied upon them.
The country’s presidential electors are chosen through different methods across the country—some are elected directly while others are picked by the candidates themselves or by the state party.

Bucking their jurisdiction’s votes could also have consequences for faithless electors. 29 states and the District of Columbia bind their electors by law, mostly with small fines as retribution for going rogue. No faithless electors have ever been punished, so political junkies will be watching to see if that changes.
Finally, when all the voting is said and done, all eyes will be watching how the candidates and their respective parties react. Will Trump launch a massive tweet storm blasting "faithless electors" and/or will Democrats finally tone down the "Russian hacking" rhetoric and calls to scrap the Electoral College system? Somehow we suspect that finally admitting they ran a failed candidate that was doomed to lose from the start is not a viable alternative for the talking heads of the leftist media...so we're somewhat less than hopeful.

    Default Re: Transition into Trump

Never has the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency so blatantly involved itself in an American election. However, the agency has a rich history of interfering in the elections of other nations, including Russia. The conclusions of an undisclosed CIA secret report on alleged Russian interference in the U.S. election has been summarily dismissed by the Director of National Intelligence, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and several retired U.S. intelligence officers as deeply flawed and a propaganda tool concocted by the highly-politicized CIA director John Brennan and his cronies.

Brennan and his clique have upped the ante by claiming, without a shred of evidence, that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally directed the hacking of computer systems linked to the U.S. election. NBC News, which has a long history of cooperation with the CIA going back to the days of RCA/NBC chairman David Sarnoff and his close friend CIA director Allen Dulles, dutifully reported Brennan’s outrageous claims as «news».

It is clear those former CIA officials who have lent credence to Brennan’s report would not have done so unless they received clearance from Brennan and his CIA to go public with their unfounded charges against Russia. Those who have echoed Brennan’s unfounded findings of election interference by Russia include former acting CIA director Michael Morell; former CIA and National Security Agency director Michael Hayden; former CIA director Leon Panetta; former CIA clandestine service agents Robert Baer; Evan McMullin – a failed 2016 independent presidential candidate - and Glenn Carle. However, for every ex-spook Brennan pulls out of his hat to accuse President-elect Donald Trump of being a «Russian agent», there are many more who have claimed that the CIA’s «proof» of Russian interference in the 2016 election is pure malarkey.

Brennan and his cabal of dark players know fully well that it is the CIA that has pioneered in the art and science of election manipulation. In 1996, it was Russia that bore the brunt of CIA election manipulation with its agents-of-influence in Moscow and other large cities, namely the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and George Soros’s Open Society Institute and Foundation, engaged in political dirty tricks aimed at undermining the electoral chances of the Russian Communist Party presidential candidate Gennady Zyuganov.

The CIA, Soros’s operatives, and the NED printed and distributed fake campaign flyers claiming to have originated with the Zyuganov's campaign. The flyers advocated returning Russia to Stalinism and re-launching the Cold War against the West. The CIA and Soros dirty tricks operatives also announced to the press phony Zyuganov news conferences where no one showed up. The dirty tricks team also canceled reservations made by the Zyuganov campaign at hotels and public meeting halls. The CIA and their allies also helped to manipulate election returns and shaved votes from Zyuganov's total, particularly in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan. This helped the favored U.S. candidate, Boris Yeltsin, achieve a second-round victory of 54-to-40 percent over Zyuganov. In 2012, then-President Dmitry Medvedev said, «There is hardly any doubt who won [the '96 election]. It was not Boris Nikolaevich Yeltsin».

The CIA has been at the election manipulation game since its inception in 1947. In February 1948, a formerly Top Secret CIA document spelled out the efforts to be taken by the United States and its ambassador in Rome, James Dunn, in preparation for the April 1948 Italian election. Wheat shipments were to be increased from the United States to Italy to prevent a reduction in bread rations just prior to the election. U.S. military equipment was to be sent to Italy in the event martial law had to be declared if the Italian Communist Party, which had been in a coalition government with the Christian Democrats since 1944, was successful at the polls. Assisting this military effort was the political indoctrination of many Italian military officers and non-commissioned officers at military schools in the United States.

The CIA also directed a sharp stick at the Italian electorate, warning that Italians could not «combine the advantages of aid from the West with that of political safety and benefits from the Soviet Union». The CIA was worried that if the Soviet Union returned control of the city of Trieste to Italy and renounced Italy’s war reparations to the Soviet Union prior to the April election, the Italian Communist Party would reap the electoral benefits and be victorious.

The CIA’s political dirty tricks in Italy began in earnest when it covertly directed $1 million, contained mostly in «bags of money», to Christian Democratic politicians led by Prime Minister Alcide de Gaspari. The CIA used its front newspapers in Italy to publish forged letters, allegedly written by Italian Communist Party leaders, in an attempt to embarrass them publicly. Similarly, the CIA attempted to blackmail Italian Socialist Party leaders who were part of a Popular Front coalition with the Communists. The blackmail eventually led to a split within the Socialist Party ranks between party leader Pietro Nenni and anti-Communist leader Giuseppe Saragat. The CIA’s manipulation paid off when the Christian Democrats won 48.5 percent of the vote and formed a new government without Communist participation.

When, in 1978, it appeared that the Christian Democrats, led by former Prime Minister Aldo Moro, were prepared to enact a «historic compromise» to share political power with the Italian Communist Party, the CIA instructed its agents-of-influence within Italy and the Vatican, the so-called «Gladio» network, to arrange for Moro’s kidnapping and assassination and blame it on the leftist Italian Red Brigades. The CIA’s psychological operation designed to blame radical Communists for Moro’s death was successful when the Italian electorate voted overwhelmingly for a CIA-linked Christian Democratic faction opposed to any accommodation with the Communists. The CIA showed that it was not averse to political assassinations to achieve its electoral aims in other countries.

The CIA’s involvement by hook and by crook in the 1948 Italian election was repeated in numerous nations around the world.
In 1964, the CIA ensured that the Chilean Popular Action Front (FRAP) Socialist presidential candidate Salvador Allende was defeated by the Christian Democratic leader Eduardo Frei. The CIA pumped $3 million into Frei’s campaign, mainly to generate anti-Allende propaganda. Allende lost the race with 38.6 percent of the vote to Frei’s 55.6 percent. In 1970, Allende won the presidential election with a slim 36.4 percent of the vote against the CIA-backed former president Jorge Alessandri. The CIA set about immediately to undermine Allende and on September 11, 1973, a CIA-backed military coup resulted in Allende’s assassination. The one thing that separates the CIA from other intelligence agencies that seek to influence elections, is that the CIA’s hands are always dripping with blood.

The 1956 election in Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka) saw an unpopular United National Party led by pro-Western Prime Minister John Kotelawala lose to the leftist Sri Lanka Freedom Party led by Solomon Bandaranaike. Although the Kotelawala government had received the largesse of CIA aid funneled through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, it was not enough to save it from defeat by Bandaranaike’s socialists. The CIA merely set about the undermine Bandaranaike’s government with the icing on the cake being the prime minister’s assassination in 1959, allegedly by a Buddhist monk who hid a revolver underneath his robes prior to a meeting with the prime minister at his private residence. The assassin’s two conspirators received life sentences, while the trigger puller, Somarama Thero, was baptized as a Christian two days before his hanging. The CIA’s MK-Ultra psychological operations program had already mastered in the science of creating programmed assassins.

Time and time again, the CIA has successfully engaged in election manipulation in parliamentary elections, presidential elections, popular referenda, and local and regional elections. The CIA is now directing its wealth of election chicanery toward the American electorate to discredit and undermine the legitimacy of the Trump presidency. For the sake of democracy everywhere, the CIA must be abolished!

    Default Re: Transition into Trump

The thing I find kind of comical is, Hillary goes to the press and says that the Russians did indeed meddle with our election, I guess by stealing and then leaking some private or secret emails to the public. Then she makes the mistake of suggesting why Russia would do that: Because they are mad about the time she meddled in their election.

Don't step in something you can't wipe off, Mrs. Clinton.

P.S. Just because I see the comedy in her suggested reason, doesn't mean I buy any of the "blame Russia" crap. She and her husband started making enemies in our own federal agencies as soon as they took office in 1994 and started running background checks on all the top ranking FBI officials, looking for ways to shove them out and move in people who would support the Clinton spin machine. (Came in handy when Oklahoma City hit.)
