I've sprouted seeds for years and sprouting seeds are a large part of my food storage...but a mason jar and cheese cloth work fine in a pinch. I got my jar lids...a set of three sizes for under $5.00 (at a health food store) that fit a common mason jar and I pick up a bag of sprouting seeds each week with my regular shopping. Alfalfa seeds. radish, broccoli, mung beans...damn near anything can be sprouted...high nutrition and cheap cheap cheap.

I was going to recommend Kombucha Tea .The culture stays in the jar an keeps growing but
It is one of those items that you either Like it or Hate it no middle ground .

I just bought a bottle of kim chee to see what fermented food taste like but now I'm afraid to open the jar .lol My friends told me it smells bad an tastes worse . lol
