, I learned that if I did a water fast, I’d not need to drink the amount of water that I once thought was required.
I drink a lot of water because I use it as a hunger suppressant, the act of drinking seems to work at curtailing the "mental" hunger that I experience... one of the many things I've learned is the different types of hunger and how a lot of it is just psychological (for me, lack of intensive activity was a problem).

true physical hunger is almost less insistent than my mental hunger was at times... haha, now I've got it pretty well down to a system.

Speaking of drinks, this is pretty interesting as I've had issues with muscle cramps on fasts before:

Basically a drink that encourages mineral update and the minerals you'll be depleting; and some of the important minerals.

yumm,,, water & black coffee (ok, I put some Truvia (erythritol and stivia extract) in which does not break a fast)... Starting these fasts always puts me in the same mental state as starting a long run.

I know I can do it, but when it comes time to actually do it... haha, I'll just have to keep busy so this isn't a long week. 80% of the difficulty of fasting seems to be centered on the mental constructs and habits that we are defying.. plus it can be a bit uncomfortable at times; but certainly not unbearable. I've been doing IF for a long time so I'm not hungry yet and shouldn't be until around 4pm, but I don't think it will be too much of a challenge; maybe I'll try green tea out, i hear it has a great satiating properties.

I weigh 216lbs in full uniform and combat boots (no knife/wallet/phone) I'll just use that as a baseline and continue weighing myself at work around 10am like that for consistency (and ease of access to an accurate scale)... not overly worried about the numbers but I expect to hit 190 or so if I can extend this out to 20 days or so. If it's just 7 I doubt the numbers will be too impressive.

I'll be doing moderate body weight exercise at night after work, mixed with moderate "yard work" (clearing downed trees, chainsaws and log removal... yeah still doing that from the storm, haha). I don't plan on doing any cardio beyond maybe walking my dog a bit (speed walking my dog).

    Default Re: Water Fasting

Day1: 216lbs I drank 5 bottles of water and 16 oz of coffee. I never really got too hungry; but when I took my daughter to go grocery shopping I picked up at least 4 things and each time remembered I wasn't eating; and put them back... haha, hard habit to break I guess. My wife is unhappy that I am not eating as I normally coordinated food for both of us at night, haha.

Day2: 210.4lbs (I binged Sunday night so the number change isn't surprising to me) Decided to dry fast, I'll shoot for 48 or 36 hours. I'm feeling a bit subdued and introspective due to... reasons; I think this has been helping me with hunger as I'm pretty mentally distracted anytime I'm not working at work or at home and I already know that boredom seems to increase the hunger drive for me; this is also why I decided incorporating my dry fast earlier might be better as well.

Update: it's almost 5pm, haven't had anything more than a mild "yearning" for food from time to time; but I've been really busy today and can't believe it's almost 5pm, so that helped I'm sure.

No water yet, Gonna go weed-wack and run the chainsaw, I think it will be interesting to see how my body responds under light stress with no water/food.

Harsh language, but the benefits of dryfasting include clearing up skin conditions and even cancer? uhh... (lots of adult langauge, I like the guys attitude though, haha)

I never would of thought this was possible:

10PM and of course, I had to go to the store again... haha I'm a bit hungry today, not really thirsty, my mouth felt slightly dry today.. I did take a shower and brush my teeth so I guess I"m doing a "soft" dry fast.

I'm desiring healthier foods since fasting on a regular basis.

And I look up the health benefits of the foods I'm craving, like when I wanted lots of celery and hummus. (Still)

On the population thread (wnlight), people survived the plague more in Poland because of the iron. So I checked out the effect on iron in the blood and radiation.

    Here is what I found:

    Iron and Radiation protection
    https://www.globalhealingcenter.com/...energy-levels/

    15 Iron Rich foods
    https://www.globalhealingcenter.com/...energy-levels/

It turns out that chickpeas/hummus is rich in iron. I eat a lot more salad, too. (Green leafies)
The blackstrap molasses I put on my oatmeal is rich in iron. Yum!

Spinach is great, too. Reminds me of Popeye!!

Dark chocolate has more iron than steak! (I don't eat steak/red meat)

And the supplements I'm taking help with the radiation, too.

Somewhere along the line I read that our innate intelligence KNOWS what we need to eat. Maybe fasting increases innate intelligence. We break eating habit patterns with fasting, and our body gets "a word in edgewise"!!! LOL

I think we break the sugar addiction cycle and our body is no longer a "crack addict" and starts to speak like a sane person... instead of "oo i want a honey bun" it's "oo, toasted Kale salad with almonds and a lemon vinaigrette"!

most video's I've been watching on fasting have mentioned this "change in food preference" phenomenon and it always seems to be for healthier unprocessed foods.

its 12:20pm, just got done with a long talk with my wife, time to get a few Zzz's in before work.. still haven't had water yet and hunger has only been comically an issue (while I was shopping and everything looked amazing).

    Day 3: 207.8lbs
My mouth has been slightly dryer than normal, but my lips aren't cracked and I don't feel dehydrated. My energy levels are normal, I'm a bit sore because I just started lightly working out again and am working my way into more exersizes but I hear the Lactic acid really ramps up this process as well.

I'm also not desperately thirsty like I thought I would be, honestly the hardest thing has been the fact that I'm not sticking things in my mouth regularly like when I was eating.

So far this is way easier than I thought it would be, but I have been eating one meal a day for 4 years or so now, so fasting and the feelings that accompany it aren't very new to me.

Even if I don't loose much fat, this is an excellent affirmation of will power and a testament to how in control of my life I am. For that alone I am really enjoying this challenge, it's a bit of a self confidence boost that I'm needing now.

Looks like my wife is involuntarily joining me on a bit of a diet, last night she ate a hot pocket and some Doritos (I normally coordinate dinner); though I wouldn't call it a healthy one... haha

    Hello dear friends,

I just finished 11 days fasting. It was not so difficult at the end since I could have continued further on. I ended it mainly due to work obligations and travelling.

I may say on the subject I fast regularly once a year longer fast 3- 10 days for some years. I keep fasting also 1 day per month. Hence certain preparation for longer fasting.

I really feel great now. My body is quite refreshed and recharged. My mind is sharper. My thinking proces is more focused. My patience with external world is wider. Not so many things may disturb me or making me nervous.

Next time I try 20 days fasting.

Thanks for wonderful thread and sharing all of your ideas and thoughts on this subject.

    Pilgrim ☺

    I CHEATED! (sorta)

    Day 4: 205.6
Yesterday was super easy, still feel a light "emptiness" from not eating/drinking but no strong urge to do so. I had to do some heavy yard work, weeds had grown to around 7 feet tall with thick bases. It's around 80* and humid here and I was a bit worried about my water levels with the kind of work ahead of me, so I drank 1 small bottle of water to be safe. With in 45 seconds I could INSTANTLY feel the water in my stomach fat, I could grab skin easily where before I could barely hold any skin away. I found it interesting that mybody instantly stored the water like that. So I got started on my new garden area, my weed wacker ran through all of its line in the first 30 min so I switched to a saw blade; which took longer than I thought and by the time I got back out I only worked another 15 min or so before it got too dark, so I don't think I got rid of all that water bottle.

Then I decided to go to a business meeting at a local Tapis bar.
Luckily, I had just watched this:

So I had a couple of Vodka Seltzers with fresh squeezed lime juice... and yeah; I was a VERY cheap date.. I got intoxicated rapidly, and sobered up rapidly as well.

In total I consumed around 48oz of liquids; I'm back to no food and liquids again till at least Friday night. I think I'll do a Dry fast during the 5 working week days and have "cheat days" on the weekend (really resets the proccess, but I'm still human) as I'm not too far from where I should be on excess fat and this fasting thing seems super easy.

Energy levels are fine this morning, I was VERY wiped out after yard work last night though, and I'm on day 3 of being sore from working triceps, and day two from working abs... maybe my salt levels are off; but I'm not cramping or anything so I think it's fine to continue.

    UPDATE:
It's almost 8pm, I'm starting to feel a lack of energy, get tired pretty quick when picking up heavy stuff; hopefully this won't last through to tomorrow, I might break the dry fast if that's the case, I'm probably a bit salt deprived as I haven't replenished.

I'm a bit fascinated with this guys videos... rough language but great energy and knowledge.

Basically: fasting is everything, and amazingly healthy for you.

Fast till your lean, be happy. TOO EASY!

    Day 5:201.4

Alright, well the Snake Diet guy you'd feel like crap, and I do (mostly just very low energy, stairs are doable but just take more effort than yesterday) haha! Going to break my fast for the weekend, I forgot the agricultural fair runs over the weekend and I don't want to miss some of the fresh local dishes; I'll start another 4day dry fast on tuesday; I'll be interested to see what I weigh tuesday morning after eating over the weekend.

I'll start drinking a bit of water now and eat a large salad with bacon on it tonight to break my fast (apparently you wan't to have a ratio of like 3/4:1/4 veggiesther since your intestinal track is completely empty).

I went to the movies last night, between the food, popcorn and beer I was sorely tempted again; but held to my fast. If I wasn't so weak feeling right now I'd push it a bit further but I have stuff todo this weekend! It's certainly been an interesting experiment. And At almost 15lbs in 5 days I'd say Dry fasting is an INSANELY fast way to correct excess weight issues (something everyone should do, it's just healthier).

I have further to go, I will do this again, maybe next time I'll just start a long term water fast, but I do like the idea of fasting during the work week and breaking it for the weekend until i reach my goal; just to shake up the monotony of not eating at all (seems to be one of the worst parts, just missing the sensations).

    Edit:

I'm drinking some water and eating a hand full of pistachios for the salt (don't have much here at work). OMG THESE TASTE SO GOOD! haha!!

    LOL!!!

Everything (((Anything))) tastes so good after a fast. Enjoy the food over the weekend.

    I love pistachios anyway, though.

I'm definitely going to try a dry fast. Short, though. 1 - 3 days.

Be very careful! And listen carefully to your body all the time.

Each to his or her own, and I'll always respect that, but personally I'd not do a dry fast longer than about 16 hours (including sleep) under any circumstances.

I will definitely listen to my body. That video says your body can make water. And also if you have swelling, it will release the extra water.

My ankle keeps swelling up for some reason, so I thought it might make an improvement.

Today I had castor oil, then later lots of turmeric. Other joints are achey again, too. Oh, and I just took an oregano oil.

I've been eating really healthy, but last night went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant. I loved it, but my body is not used to heavy food any more. Lots of cheese!

I'm not going to begin until sometime in June, most likely. I'll tune in to see what will be best.

Well, it'll find water to utilize if it's in the body already. But it certainly won't 'make' it from nothing — especially if there's no food (e.g. fruit) to extract it from.

I had a severe gall bladder attack in the 90s. Breathing was painful, couldn't sleep. Had no insurance or desire for surgery. Did a 3 or 4 day water fast and it lessened the symptoms significantly. Never had surgery. Sometimes it bothers me if I overeat, but mostly, no issues.

I believe the body converts fat to water, there's no way I could go 5 days with out eating/drinking and still pee like I did, I mostly seemed to have to urinate after sleeping ;and the body is suppose to burn an AMAZING amount of body fat in the final stages of REM. I was doubtful when I first heard "your body makes its own water"; but after 5 days I believe.

I stopped because I felt "off", I was paying a lot of attention to my bodies responses, Thursday night before I stopped my fast I felt like I hit a salt imbalance and went from 90% energy to 5%... it was brutal. I luckily never got light headed... definately pay attention to what your body is telling you, this is a very extreme form of fasting (and it's results are Amazing!!).

I still have a good 20-30lbs to loose, I'll be doing this again for sure; I felt amazing during the fast right until mid thursday when I felt DRAINED. next time I'll do a wet fast with "snake juice" (which is really just a mix of sodium chloride and potassium chloride.)

    LOL!!!

Everything (((Anything))) tastes so good after a fast. Enjoy the food over the weekend.
After a hardcore fast like that... I've had such a renewed passion for food this weekend.... I might have over done it, I'll be interested to see where I'm at come tuesday.

Best of luck Michelle-Marie, though 'luck' has nothing to do with it, but one's own mindful direction and attentiveness to their own body and essence and what it asks you. Perhaps- 'enjoy yourself' is more due

I had not need to consume food or drink on and off, as a call of my genuine essence self. That is not a fast, however, and I do enjoy food and it's all about the enjoy part of it and not about the nourishment, some may refer to this as the breatharian processing (though why put labels), so energy is INDEED 'consumed'. We mean well when we tend to 'caution' one another to 'be careful'. For some reason I am reminded of the Story of (if I remember correct) Steve Job's mother (the co-founder and chairman of Apple) who sent him when he was very young to climb the tallest tree and find his way down as well as back home alone quite a bit far from their neighbourhood. It appears that in this realm of possibilities we live in limitations are in our mind, so, in essence there is no right or wrong.. : )

We learn more and more how the nature of this reality works through finding our own conditions, perceptions and beliefs which are projecting itself out like a movie. The lengthiest of my non consumption of any food or drink was two weeks, afterwards I had to go through the airport flying and visiting places

Enjoy Michelle- Marie as you listen to your body and to your inner knowing self, as more and more new discoveries of freedom of choice are upon us
