Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you choose to look at this) he HAS invoked the Emergencies Act.
So this is not bluster.

It's unfortunate that he felt he needed to resort to this.
There IS NO EMERGENCY!

For Christ's sake why didn't he invoke it for Covid-19???

I view it as fortunate because the entire world is watching Canada and his moves.
There will be revolts all around the world!

Besides fraught with illegality, it's misleading for these headlines to leave out the word limited. It's partial and not all provinces are in and that's significant too.

Main thing I see is that they're going to have to face down the grandmas, grandpas, vets, kids and the rest of the charged up unified citizens in a very, very ugly way to finish the job.

Well once the Emergency Act is invoked it can be as limited as the P.M. chooses.
It could also change at any time to be broader in scope.

The main thing is that all the eyes of the world are on Canada now, and I'm betting this
will backfire on Turdeau.

As for the provinces not being on board...

Yes it's true, but that didn't stop him from going ahead with it.
This is a Federal act that he invoked that didn't need provincial approval.

All the people you represent have a voice in the house of commons. You have four provinces that have moved quite precipitously in the direction that the protest was hoping for. They are starting to lift mask mandates on something approximating as reasonable a timeline as might be expected under the circumstances. You're now faced with a difficult choice: what are your criteria for satisfaction.

You need to determine that, so that you can negotiate with the necessary people. "Let's understand clearly that Quebec, Quebec government and us do not want this law to be implemented on the territory of Quebec. It is not legitimate, and it is useless," he said Monday.

Strikes me that Peterson was asked to call for a truckers’ retreat. “I’ve been asked to say a few words to the truckers in Ottawa.” ***. “...allow a sufficient victory to be sufficient...”.

I’m not suggesting for even a second that he wrong to do so or that his heart is not in the right place. I believe he is a very honorable person and a great intellect

I am, however, curious who asked him, multiple people and organizations to be sure, and why. Probably more than one reason.

This standoff could get very ugly very quickly now if cooler heads do not prevail. On and from all sides of the issue.
