MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. Data from intercepted drones confirm the involvement of the US and Poland in preparation of terror attacks on the Russian territory, a source in Russian security agencies told TASS Friday.

"Relevant agencies of the Russian Federation analyzed electronic components of the intercepted unmanned aerial vehicles, used by Ukraine for attacks on Russian infrastructure objects - in particular, in Sevastopol, in Crimea, in Kursk, Belgorod and Voronezh Regions," the agency said.

According to the specialists’ assessments, a number of facts "confirm the direct involvement of the US and Poland in the massive military-logistical support of the Kiev regime, in preparation and implementation of joint terror attacks on the Russian Federation territory."

The agency noted that "the avionics and drone control stations were produced by US’ Spektreworks, a company that performed the initial tuning and check of the drones at the Scottsdale airport in Arizona."

In addition, the relevant agencies pointed out that "the final assembly and flight trials of these drones were carried out on the Polish territory, near the Rzeszow airport, used by the US and NATO as the main supply node for Ukrainian armed forces."

"The installation of payload, flight mission and the launch itself were carried out near Odessa and Krivoy Rog," the statement says.

Russian Armed Forces hits base of foreign mercenaries in DPR — Defense Ministry

Russian assault teams and artillery units scattered Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov says

MOSCOW, December 17. /TASS/. The Russian Armed Forces hit a base of foreign mercenaries in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said on Saturday.

"A temporary base of foreign mercenaries was hit near Krasny Liman in the Donetsk People’s Republic," he specified.

According to Konashenkov, operational-tactical aircraft, missile troops and artillery struck a temporary deployment site of the Ukrainian armed forces’ 14th mechanized brigade near Kupyansk in the Kharkov Region, as well as 53 artillery units at firing positions, manpower and military equipment in 89 areas.

Russian assault teams and artillery units scattered Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman notes.

"Russian forces continued to advance in the Donetsk direction, taking strategic positions. Ukrainian troops tried in vain to counterattack the Russian forces near Bakhmutskoye and Opytnoe in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Artillery units and assault teams stopped enemy forces and scattered them," Konashenkov noted, adding that over 30 Ukrainian troops had been killed and seven vehicles had been destroyed.

The Russian Armed Forces killed up to 35 Ukrainian troops south of Donetsk in the past 24 hours, Konashenkov added.

"Up to 35 Ukrainian troops were killed and two armored personnel carriers were destroyed as a result of the activities of Russian forces and artillery attacks south of Donetsk," he said.

Konashenkov added that two sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been eliminated near the Novomayorskoye and Shevchenko settlements in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

"In the Krasny Liman direction, Russian forces’ preemptive actions caused combined damage to the enemy’s reserves near Kolodezi in the Donetsk People’s Republic," he added.

Konashenkov added that the Ukrainian armed forces had suffered up to 30 casualties and two armed combat vehicles and two pickup trucks had been destroyed.

High-precision weapons strikes on Ukranian military facilities

The Russian Armed Forces on Friday used high-precision weapons to strike Ukrainian military command systems, defense industry facilities and related energy sites, Konashenkov said.

"On Friday, December 16, a massive attack was carried out on Ukrainian military command systems, defense industry facilities and related energy sites, which involved long-range air-and sea-launched high-precision weapons," Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman pointed, adding that all the targets had been hit.

Russian army thwarts Ukraine’s attempt to transfer foreign weapons to combat zone

Russia’s Armed Forces have foiled Ukraine’s attempt to transfer foreign-made weapons and munitions to the combat zone, and blocked the advance of the Ukrainian military’s reserves, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman noted.

"The strike has disrupted the redeployment of foreign-made weapons and munitions, blocked the advance of reserves to combat areas, and halted Ukraine’s defense industry enterprises manufacturing and repairing weapons, military equipment and ammunition," Konashenkov said.

Russian air defenses intercept seven Uragan, HIMARS rockets

"Three Uragan rockets were intercepted near the Tokmak settlement in the Zaporozhye Region and four HIMARS rockets were intercepted near the Rozovka and Baranikovka settlements in the Lugansk People’s Republic," Konashenkov specified.

He also said that two Ukrainian drones had been downed near the Zaliman settlement in the Lugansk People’s Republic.

Russian forces hit Ukrainian army units in Kupyansk area

The Russian Armed Forces inflicted damage by firepower on Ukrainian army units in the Kupyansk area, eliminating up to 40 Ukrainian servicemen, Konashenkov said.

"In the Kupyansk direction, damage by firepower was inflicted on Ukrainian army units near Petropavlovka and Timkovka in the Kharkov Region. Up to 40 Ukrainian servicemen, a combat armored vehicle and four motor vehicles were destroyed," he told a briefing on the special military operation.

Ukrainian air defenses waste substantial resource on Russian decoys

The air defense system of the Ukrainian armed forces has wasted an enormous resource on decoys launched by the Russian Armed Forces during their missile strikes on December 16, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman notes.

"When the attack was repelled by Ukrainian and Western air defense systems, a substantial resource was spent on intentionally launched decoys, which [helped to] expose and destroy four radar stations of the Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems near Andrusovka, Pridneprovskoye in the Dnepropetrovsk Region, as well as near Novotavricheskaya and Nikolay-Pole in the Zaporozhye Region," he said.

Konashenkov added that unprofessional actions of the Ukrainian air defense crews had caused damage to civilian infrastructure on the ground.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told African leaders at the summit that “Russia risked destabilizing the continent with their rising involvement.” Speaking at the opening of the three-day US-Africa summit, Austin stated that “Russia is continuing to peddle cheap weapons and deploying mercenaries across the continent.”

The claims made by the US Defense Secretary are hypocritical at best. In late November, the Nigerian government warned that the weapons US and NATO are sending to the Kiev regime have started to appear in West Africa. According to the government in Abuja, illegal arms have begun to “filter” into the region. The urgent warning was issued by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari himself in an official statement posted on the website of the Nigerian presidential office. Buhari “urged more vigilance and tightening of security around borders”, drawing attention to the “increased number of arms, ammunition, and other weapons from the Russia and Ukraine war in the Lake Chad Basin.”

As for the accusation that Russia was deploying PMCs (private military companies), this too can only be described as hypocrisy, given the fact that the US and other Western mercenaries have been operating across Africa for decades. In addition, Russian PMCs (Austin was most likely referring to the “Wagner Group”) were officially invited by at least half a dozen African countries. These companies are helping various African governments in training their troops and are sometimes directly involved in fighting terrorists and other illegal armed groups, many of which are more often than not supported by the political West with the aim of destabilizing the said African countries.


On the other hand, most of the Ukrainian wheat and other food products that the political West insists are there to “feed the world” are ending up in rich Western countries which acquired approximately 30% of Ukrainian arable land and are exploiting it for their own gain. For months, the Western mainstream propaganda machine has been parroting about Africa-bound food shipments allegedly blocked in the Black Sea by Russia, while in reality, there was neither a blockade nor the food was ever destined to go to Africa. To make matters worse, after Russia signed the grain deal, the political West (ab)used the newly opened sea routes to send more weapons to the Kiev regime, many of which ended up in Africa, as previously mentioned.

Zelensky aide confirms Ukraine tried to kill top Russian general

Kiev's forces did attempt to kill Russia’s Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov during a visit he made to the frontlines in Ukraine, Alexey Arestovich, a senior aide to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, has admitted.

Arestovich was commenting on a report by the New York Times on Saturday that claimed Washington, which backs Ukraine in the conflict with Russia, sought to talk Kiev out of targeting the top Russian commander back in April.

The paper’s sources claimed that the US had concealed the information about Gerasimov’s possible planned visit to the frontlines from Zelensky’s government, over concerns that an attack on a valuable Russian asset could provoke a direct military confrontation between Russian and American forces.

The Ukrainians learned, however, about the commander’s trip through their own channels. “We told them not to do it. We were like, ‘Hey, that’s too much,’” a senior American official told the NYT. Kiev still shelled the positions where Gerasimov was thought to have been, but the general was unaffected by the strike, according to the outlet.

The paper claimed the US had learned of possible plans for Gerasimov to visit the frontlines and decided to withhold the information from Ukraine, out of fear that Kiev might try to kill the general, potentially sparking a conflict between the US and Russia, the NYT explained. The Ukrainian military had reportedly obtained the information about Gerasimov’s plans anyway.

“Let’s uncover a terrible mystery. Gerasimov was in Izium and we fired at Gerasimov. It happened,” Zelensky’s aide said, in a YouTube interview with Russian activist Mark Feygin on Sunday.

Kiev hit the Russian battle headquarters visited by the Chief of General Staff, but Gerasimov had already left when the shelling took place, Arestovich claimed.

Izium is a city in Kharkov Region in north-eastern Ukraine, which had been under the control of the Russian forces between April and September.

Moscow has never officially confirmed that Gerasimov traveled to Ukraine in April. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the commander has only visited the Russian troops on the frontlines in early July.

At least one dead, several injured following Ukrainian strikes in Russia – governor

A civilian has been killed and at least eight others injured in a Ukrainian attack on western Russia’s Belgorod Region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has reported on Telegram.

“Our air defense system worked over Belgorod and Belgorod Region,” he wrote on Sunday.

Gladkov previously reported that four people had been injured in the city of Belgorod.

“I spoke to two of them at the scene. A man was wounded in the back, while a woman was wounded to the face. The two children were miraculously unharmed,” the governor wrote on his Telegram channel. He added that 14 houses and nine cars were damaged.

Gladkov also said one person was killed on the outskirts of the regional capital, and another one was wounded. “A poultry farm was damaged,” he added.

According to the daily, Kiev allegedly launched the attack when Gerasimov was on the front line. The newspaper gives neither the date nor any other information about the attack in question.

However, the daily said, Washington was against Kiev’s plans to kill Gerasimov for the worries that an attempt on his life could lead to an escalation. The Americans withheld the information about the general’s movements from the Ukrainians, and then asked "Ukraine to call off an attack — only to be told that the Ukrainians had already launched it."

Russian troops take control of DPR’s Yakovlevka, its mop-up continues — top brass

According to Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov, Ukraine made unsuccessful attempts to regainlost positions in several DPR’s settlements

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Russian units have taken control of the village of Yakovlevka in the Donetsk People's Republic, its mopping-up from the remnants of the Ukrainian armed forces is currently continuing, Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov told reporters on Sunday.

"In the Donetsk direction, as a result of the offensive actions of Russian units, the settlement of Yakovlevka of the Donetsk People's Republic has been taken under control. At present, its mopping-up from the remnants of Ukrainian troops is being completed," Konashenkov said.

According to him, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain by counterattacks lost positions in the DPR’s settlements of Podgorodnoye, Kleshchiyevka, Kurdyumovka. "As a result of artillery strikes and actions of Russian assault groups, the counterattacks were repulsed. The enemy suffered losses and was pushed back to their initial positions," the spokesman stressed. Konashenkov also said that more than 40 Ukrainian servicemen, two armored fighting vehicles and three vehicles were destroyed in the fighting.

Russia’s armed forces hit the command center of Ukraine’s 113th territorial defense brigade, Konashenkov added.

"Russia’s tactical aircraft, missile and artillery troops hit the command center of the 113th territorial defense brigade near the settlement of Krasny Liman in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), as well as 109 artillery units at firing sites, manpower and hardware in 144 locations," he said.

Russia destroys three Ukrainian sabotage groups in South Donetsk direction

The Russian armed forces have destroyed three Ukrainian sabotage groups in the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Zaporozhye Region, Defense Ministry Spokesman, reports.

"Three Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were destroyed in the areas of Novomikhailovka, Vladimirovka of the Donetsk People's Republic and Novoselovka of the Zaporozhye Region," he said.

Konashenkov noted that an enemy repair and evacuation group was also destroyed near the village of Vremevka in the Donetsk People's Republic thanks to artillery fire and active actions of Russian troops.

On December 17, Konashenkov reported that two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were detected and destroyed near the DPR settlements of Novomayorskoye and Shevchenko.

"Anti-aircraft defense assets shot down a Ukrainian drone near the village of Yelenovka in the Donetsk People's Republic, and also intercepted nine HIMARS rocket near the villages of Chaplynka in the Kherson Region, Artyomovsk, Yenakiyevo in the Donetsk People's Republic, Popasnaya, Beloye in the Lugansk People's Republic," he said at a briefing on the progress of the special military operation.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, a total of 344 aircraft, 184 helicopters, 2,676 drones, 398 anti-aircraft missile systems, 7,149 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 931 multiple rocket launchers, 3,691 field artillery and mortars, and 7,650 special military vehicles have been destroyed since the start of the special military operation.

Russia’s forces delivered a strike at Ukrainian troops and hardware in the southern Donetsk direction, killing or wounding around 50 Ukrainian troops, Konashenkov noted.

"Ukrainian manpower and military hardware were struck in the southern Donetsk direction, near the settlements of Shevchenko and Dorozhnyanka in the Zaporozhye Region," he said.

According to Konashenkov, the Ukrainian side lost up to 50 troops, who were either killed or wounded. Apart from that, a Ukrainian armored combat vehicle, a tank retriever and two pickup trucks were destroyed.

Up to 25 Ukrainian troops neutralized by Russian forces in Kupyansk direction

"Up to 25 Ukrainian soldiers, an armored infantry carrier and two cars were destroyed near the settlement of Kislovka in the Kupyansk direction in the Kharkov region," Konashenkov said.
