US must get over its ‘sense of entitlement’ – Moscow

Washington has lost its ability to use force on the global stage without facing serious pushback, a senior diplomat said

Washington shouldn't expect the world to forget that it fabricated its justification for the 2003 Iraq invasion, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told RIA Novosti on Saturday.

The Russian diplomat made the remark on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the now-infamous speech by then-US Secretary of State Colin Powell at the United Nations Security Council, during which he presented alleged evidence of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, including biological ones.

To support his case, Powell exhibited a tiny vial of white powder, which was supposed to represent anthrax, and told the council that the US had no other choice but to go to war. However, no weapons of mass destruction were ever found in Iraq.

Powell’s UN stunt “has long become the epitome of hypocrisy and the conviction of the US ruling elite in its own entitlement and its unchallenged right to arrogantly teach the rest of the world,” Ryabkov stated. He added that it was also emblematic of Washington’s willingness to “use force against an obviously weaker opponent in order to preserve its own global hegemony.”

However, the diplomat suggested that – unlike in the 2000s and during the 1999 NATO bombing campaign of Yugoslavia – Washington could not get away with “international banditry” under current conditions.

“In the rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, the US is now objectively unable to resort to a use-of-force scenario every time it feels like it, without facing serious consequences,” he noted, pointing to the “humiliating flight” of US troops from Afghanistan in 2021

However, as Washington’s “meddling” in the Ukraine conflict has shown, this setback has not stopped the US from embracing its old ways, the diplomat continued.

“The Americans will have to adjust to the new rails and get rid of the entitlement syndrome that so clearly manifested itself during the [anthrax] vial scandal. The same applies to taking into account Russia and China, as well as other major international players that are shaping a more just multilateral world order,” Ryabkov said.

The US should not cherish any hope that “the memories of what happened 20 years ago would be buried in the shifting sands of modern history,” he concluded.

Back in 1992, which was almost immediately AFTER the Soviet Union and its communism and its Warsaw Pact military alliance all had ended and the word from “on high” in the U.S.-and-allied sphere had not yet come down to the BBC’s management that the Cold War would now continue in order to defeat Russia itself, the BBC produced an historic documentary revealing its interviews with top participants in the CIA’s “Operation Gladio” (run by the CIA and MI6 through America’s NATO) telling how they had organized terrorist acts in and against U.S.-allied European countries.

These terrorist incidents were set up so as to be blamed against communists in those countries, in order to cause the publics there to fear and hate the Soviet Union; and the interviewees spoke with unimpeachable authority about this because they were obviously proud of having done it — they themselves hated communism and hated the Soviet Union. Many of the interviewees were titled aristocrats who had supported Hitler and Mussolini in U.S.-allied European countries, and they described incidents that had become written about in The West’s ‘history’ books regarding the Cold War as having actually BEEN incidents that were organized by the Soviet Union and by its adherents in west-European countries. And here they were now being filmed in interviews proudly telling how they had worked with the CIA and MI6 in order to defeat the Soviet Union in western Europe on the basis of lies and of terrorism that intentionally killed innocents in their own country.

Though BBC’s management didn’t yet know that U.S. President G.H.W. Bush had started on 24 February 1990 to inform the U.S.-allied heads-of-state privately, one-by-one, in separate meetings, and in secret, to continue the Cold War now against Russia until Russia itself becomes defeated by the U.S. and its allies, and that NATO must therefore (despite the merely verbal promises they all had made to Gorbachev to the exact contrary) be extended right up to Russia’s very borders, this information did ultimately become known to BBC’s management soon after the documentary was aired; and, so, the documentary isn’t to be found online in the BBC’s online archives, but someone happened to film the documentary from that person’s TV set and this grainy version of it is the one that subsequently became uploaded to youtube and became famous among honest and serious writers about the Cold War — a crucially important surviving primary source-document about the depths to which the U.S./UK Government had sunk in order not only to defeat the Soviet Union up till 1991, but especially in order to take control ultimately over the entire world — on the basis of lies that even to the present day deceive a majority in all publics within U.S./UK-and-allied (i.e., Anglo-American vassal or “colonial”) countries, and, so, into believing that today’s U.S. Government is anti-Nazi like it had been back during WW II when America’s President was the passionately anti-Nazi and anti-imperialist Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR).

(On 25 July 1945, his immediate successor, Harry S. Truman finally decided to take the advice from his hero General Dwight Eisenhower, and from Winston Churchill, that the U.S. Government ought to win control over the entire world, and that’s when the Cold War actually started.)

Operation Gladio never ended, and it was and is part of a much broader U.S./UK Government operation.

On 25 January 2023, Reuters headlined “Spanish police arrest man suspected in 2022 letter-bomb case”, and reported that, “The arrest came three days after the New York Times reported that investigators in recent weeks have focused on the Russian Imperial Movement, a radical group that has ties with far-right Spanish organizations with regard to the letter bombs. The group is believed to be linked to Russian intelligence agencies.” That seems like virtually a carbon copy of the type of ‘news’-reports that were being produced and disseminated throughout the U.S.-and-allied sphere against the Soviet Union back during the 1950s. In fact, all of the sanctions that the U.S./UK and its allies have imposed against Russia are based upon lies.

This type of performance by a government is inconsistent with its being a democracy; and, in fact, neither the U.S. nor the UK is authentically democratic. It’s all based on lies. Nazism and all other forms of fascism are. In fact, whereas Hitler and Mussolini were up-front about their contempt for democracy, the U.S./UK version lies to be ‘democratic’ instead of dictatorial, and it therefore is even more lie-based than the WW II version was.

I've not been able to find the original source, but it's been widely reported that a Ukrainian soldier in Bakhmut has stated that the life expectancy of an untrained soldier newly arrived on the front line there is four hours.

Setting the Record Straight; Stuff You Should Know About Ukraine

On February 16, 2022, a full week before Putin sent combat troops into Ukraine, the Ukrainian Army began the heavy bombardment of the area (in east Ukraine) occupied by mainly ethnic Russians. Officials from the Observer Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) were located in the vicinity at the time and kept a record of the shelling as it took place. What the OSCE discovered was that the bombardment dramatically intensified as the week went on until it reached a peak on February 19, when a total of 2,026 artillery strikes were recorded. Keep in mind, the Ukrainian Army was, in fact, shelling civilian areas along the Line of Contact that were occupied by other Ukrainians.

We want to emphasize that the officials from the OSCE were operating in their professional capacity gathering first-hand evidence of shelling in the area. What their data shows is that Ukrainian Forces were bombing and killing their own people. This has all been documented and has not been challenged.

So, the question we must all ask ourselves is this: Is the bombardment and slaughter of one's own people an 'act of war'?

We think it is. And if we are right, then we must logically assume that the war began before the Russian invasion (which was launched a full week later). We must also assume that Russia's alleged "unprovoked aggression" was not unprovoked at all but was the appropriate humanitarian response to the deliberate killing of civilians. In order to argue that the Russian invasion was 'not provoked', we would have to say that firing over 4,000 artillery shells into towns and neighborhoods where women and children live, is not a provocation? Who will defend that point of view?

No one, because it's absurd. The killing of civilians in the Donbas was a clear provocation, a provocation that was aimed at goading Russia into a war. And - as we said earlier - the OSCE had monitors on the ground who provided full documentation of the shelling as it took place, which is as close to ironclad, eyewitness testimony as you're going to get.

This, of course, is a major break with the "official narrative" which identifies Russia as the perpetrator of hostilities. But, as we've shown, that simply isn't the case. The official narrative is wrong. Even so, it might not surprise you to know that most of the mainstream media completely omitted any coverage of the OSCE's fact-finding activities in east Ukraine. The one exception to was Reuters that published a deliberately opaque account published on February 18 titled "Russia voices alarm over sharp increase of Donbass shelling". Here's an excerpt:

Bottom line: Russia did not start the war in Ukraine. That is a fake narrative. The responsibility lies with the Ukrainian Army and their leaders in Kiev.

"Since February 24, there has been a recommendation from the Ministry of Culture and Science regarding the destruction of certain types of books. As of November 2022, about 19 million copies of books have been destroyed in public libraries, of which about 11 million are in Russian" the Telegram channel of Verkhovna Rada Deputy Head of the Committee on “Humanitarian” and Information Policy Yevgenia Kravchuk.
