The western world probably first got this as the theme of
Dante's Mirrors.
They are not many, but they imply self-reflection on each theme or issue that leads to unpleasant destinies.
He was an anti-papal Ghibilene/White Guelph, constrained to write in symbolism, such as in

And it appears the west may still be having difficulty with the mirror.
Here is a trickle of additional reporting asserting the pipeline was a hit, a little bit different than the base attacks, and ten years later we still have the
guy in London posting whatever he wants to say:
At around the same time as the blast near Conoco, several explosions were heard near the U.S. Green Village base at al-Omar oil fields in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside. While some Syrian news sources said that the base came under attack, the SOHR reported that the explosions were the result of live-fire drills by the American troops.
In the early morning, the Conoco base was targeted with rockets and three suicide drones struck the U.S. garrison in the southeastern Syrian area of al-Tanf. The Al-Arabiya TV reported, citing U.S. officials, that a number of troops in al-Tanf sustained minor injuries.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iranian-backed armed factions, claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying that they were carried out in response to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
Oddly, for the pipeline, quite possibly a ground-based bomb:

Concerning the minor aerial attacks, the Iraqi
damage reports:
A civilian contractor working with United States forces at Ayn al-Assad Air Base in the western Iraqi province of al-Anbase died from a cardiac arrest during a “false alarm,” Reuters reported on October 20, citing American officials.
Ayn al-Assad Air base and al-Harir Air Base in the northern Iraqi Kurdistan region, which also hosts U.S. troops, were both attacked with suicide drones on October 18. The U.S. Central Command said that the attacks were repelled, but acknowledged “minor losses” at Ayn al-Assad.
On the same day, a rocket attack targeted the U.S. Camp Victory near Baghdad International Airport, Iraqi police said, without providing further details.
Several U.S. troops were lightly wounded at al-Tanf.

However, the hosts noted there was one way the US had been consistent: in both Israel and Ukraine, US President Joe Biden has intervened to shut down potential peace deals championed by Russia and China in favor of keeping the conflicts going.
“The US does this time and time again,” Kovalik pointed out. “It kills peace in order to keep the wheels of war moving.”

The goal is not to inform —but to persuade people to do things they would otherwise not do.

Where have we heard that before? 10 minutes ago? Isn’t that what the Western mantra about “disinformation” and “misinformation” is all about?
The greatest exponent of mass mind control was never Hitler – nor Stalin – Nor Mao. In fact, it was not a single person, but a political culture— that of the US, which has taken fascism and propaganda to new levels with unprecedented powers of persuasion which the dictators of the past could only envy.
Churchill was no less racist than Hitler; he was an old-fashioned imperialist— and like America today—wanted to revive a declining empire. Also like the US, he didn’t like competition.
He did not care if his policies killed 3 million Indians or hundreds of thousands of civilians across Europe with terror bombings. And at the end of World War II. He wanted to nuke the Russians.
Since World War II, US empire building worldwide has led to an estimated 30 million deaths – although this number is disputed. It might be 10 million or 20 million – or more than 30 million. The number doesn’t matter. It’s a lot.
The fact is that the peoples of the West while disavowing intention to kill, do kill. Gratuitously. In fact, they glory in it.

In the end American fascism is in some ways worse than the Nazi version since it is more insidious—and goes on and on and on. It has legs.
Hitler’s Reich limped. It was primitive and primitivistic. It didn’t last long. The American Reich endures. It is postmodern and sophisticated.
Germany was one man—Hitler— using a typewriter. Atavistic. America is thousands of people with Ivy League degrees and office 2023 and Windows 12.
But that invisible Government that Bernays talked about is becoming visible. With inequality. it’s hard to hide a Lamborghini—much less Hunter Biden’s drugs and whores and corruption— or Joe’s dementia.
Hitler had anti-Semitism. The Western world has Russophobia and Sinophobia. The Israelis have anti-Arabism. There is ultimately no difference. They are all attempts to dehumanize ethnicities. All Big Lies.
The problem starts very, very young.
We are brought up to think this way, The media do not so much create as pander to the narratives we learn in the cradle, kindergarten and grade school. Children love stories and picture books. When we get older, we have “narratives” and YouTube.
Right now, the Big Story is Israel and Hamas’s attack. How much is true? How much is rumor? Was this attack— or counterattack? If you look at the mainstream media, it is impossible to know. Wait until the smoke clears. Search the Internet. Look for contradictions. Assume nothing. There will be lies of all sizes— big and small.
If you look at the stock market however, you will see that all of the military industrial companies in the US have posted huge gains. Cui bono?
