Dennis: Why are you taking this so personally? I am trying to stay somewhat aloof from the maddening rush to accuse, even though I have more of a stake in Israel than hardly anyone else on the Avalon site, besides Israelis of course. You can ask me about this privately some time. I just find all opinions on the subject of the Middle East conflict interesting, and wish to hear more from all sides.
I am curious as to why that particular Arab Muslim has those particular opinions, when he doesn't fit the mold of what we would expect. I guess we will never know, but somehow he feels to me to be elitist in the Arab world, if his pristine outfit indicates to others, as it does to me.

Posting that video is not an "aloof" stance, quite obviously. That video basically accuses Palestinians as being vermin, as well as having no historical rights to the land of their ancestors. Maybe, since you are flying an Aussie flag, if it was a video accusing aboriginal Australians as being vermin and deserving to be killed, expelled, or put in a concentration camp - maybe then you'd see how disgusting it is.

Again, it is rare to see Arab men making any kind of personal statement online like this man did. And I am able to stand back and appreciate whatever I can glean from his statement. Most of what we see of the world protests today tell me nothing about the issues, except watching people waving flags, and screaming.

Regarding my own national status, I happen to be a dual-citizen, U.S.-Australian. Since you mention Australian aboriginals, I have a special fondness for their culture, and collect their art, as I had two past lives as an Australian aboriginal, one as a shaman. All of us have played different parts in our past lives. Many of us have been Jewish. Many of us have been Muslim. Even you, Dennis, have had six past lives as a Jew, and eight past lives as a Muslim. So the intense energy surfacing right now around Israel and Gaza reflects the intensity coming through from having had past lives in these cultures.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi would often say that the reason we meditate is to prevent the birth of an enemy. It is not good to give our energy and attention to these extremely negative events, as our attention helps fuel the holocaust.

You're 100% right. The emotional intensity and passion of the millions of people in the streets just tell us about the anger and outrage. They don't tell us about the detailed historical issues.

I thought I might add this personal view. This isn't about the long and complex history, or the tortuous moral issues. Only about what happened, or what we're told happened, on 7 October. I'm little surprised I've not heard anyone out there put it quite like this.

If someone murders your good friend and neighbor, you'd be outraged, deeply upset, and would demand justice. You'd want to see the murderer arrested, tried, and if proven guilty, properly punished by whatever means was mandated in a fair court of law.

You'd NOT gather together a vigilante squad and not only attempt to brutally kill whoever you thought the murderer might be, but burn down his house and all his friends' houses, and slaughter his wife, his parents, his grandparents, his children, and his dog, causing the maximum possible suffering to everyone and everything you could find.

That's what a psychopath would do.

Bravo to this man. This is the United Nations Secretary-General, not just anyone with an opinion on social media.

And he was very fiercely criticized by Israel for his similar remarks in a UN speech a few days ago. Israel demanded his resignation, and for a short while there was concern that he might actually have to step down, such was the pressure from Israel and the US.

Now he's doubled down on his humanitarian views. That tells me a great deal about his principles and courage.
