This is a very telling sign that this operation IS NOT mainly about hunting Hamas. Because as Muhammad rightly points out, if the explosives were planted in person it means there was little security risk there: the soldiers felt safe enough to wonder around the buildings to place these explosives.

This tends to confirm the theory this operation is about rendering Gaza inhabitable and destroying Gazan society wholesale. To do so, they methodically destroy all the institutional buildings (government buildings, schools, universities, banks, religious buildings, etc.) - what the IDF call "power targets" as revealed in the now famous 972 investigation (https://972mag.com/mass-assassinatio...-bombing-gaza/). 972 wrote that their sources told them that "striking the target functions primarily as a 'means that allows damage to civil society.'" US vetoes UN Security Council resolution demanding immediate Gaza cease-fire

WASHINGTON

The US vetoed a UN Security Council draft resolution on Friday that demanded an immediate cease-fire to halt the ongoing bloodshed in the Gaza Strip as the death toll continues to mount.

The text, which was co-sponsored by at least 97 UN member states, received the support of 13 Security Council members, while the United Kingdom abstained.

It called for all parties to the conflict to adhere to international law, particularly the protection of civilians, demanded an immediate humanitarian cease-fire and called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to report to the council on the cease-fire's implementation.

The United Arab Emirates, which introduced the draft, said it worked to expeditiously complete the resolution due to the mounting number of dead over the 63-day war.

"There is nothing else left to do or say other than to demand this war be brought to an end, and the imperative of saving as many lives as possible right now must supersede every other consideration," said Mohamed Abushahab, the UAE's representative.

On the eighth day of confrontations since the resumption of the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip, #Palestinian Resistance factions have announced a flurry of successful operations against Israeli occupation forces.

Headlining these operations was an ambush on Thursday evening, which saw the killing of Israeli forces that included paratroopers from the 551st Brigade’s 699th Battalion. The 669th Battalion is a Special Tactics Rescue Unit in the IOF, whose soldiers receive advanced tactical infiltration and urban warfare training.

Following the Israeli military's announcement of the killing of Master Sergeant Gal Meer Eizenkot, the son of Gadi Eizenkot who is the former Israeli Chief of Staff and a current minister, on Thursday, Palestinian Resistance announced their responsibility for the operation that led to Eizenkot's death.

Hamas' military wing said its fighters booby-trapped the opening of a tunnel in Tal al-Zaatar, in the northern #Gaza Strip, with an explosive device. The Resistance faction said the device was detonated among a group of Israeli soldiers who arrived at the site, killing and injuring several Israeli soldiers, including Eizenkot.

US in talks with Gulf allies to take action against Yemen: Bloomberg

The US is consulting with other Gulf countries about "potential military action" against Yemenis, in response to the Yemeni Armed Forces' continued operations on Israeli assets in the Red Sea, Bloomberg News reported, citing sources informed on the matter.

Reportedly, the talks are at the initial stages, Bloomberg News said, adding that the US and its allies are still in favor of diplomacy rather than aggression on Yemen.

It is worth noting that the Yemeni Armed Forces and the Sanaa government have reiterated, on multiple occasions, the fact that their actions in the Red Sea will only target Israeli-affiliated vessels.

According to US National Security Advisor Jon Finer, Washington has "not ruled out the possibility of taking military action" against Yemen. This was also relayed by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to his Saudi counterpart Khalid bin Salman, according to Bloomberg News.

The US is also assembling a maritime coalition "with as much buy-in from as many countries as possible" that could escort ships in the Red Sea.

Moreover, the news outlet said the US Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking responded to emailed questions, saying he was back in the Middle East "to continue intensive US diplomacy and regional coordination to safeguard maritime security in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden."

Saudis, Emiratis doubt US assertions

However, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates doubt the Biden administration's resolve to take military action against Yemenis, as it is faced with multiple crises, according to Bloomberg.

Riyadh also has to take into account ongoing talks with the Sanaa government, which if successful, would see an end to its 9-year-long war on neighboring Yemen.

Yemen steadfast in support for Gaza

The Yemeni people have organized weekly mass protests in support of the Palestinian people and their Resistance. Importantly, the government in Sanaa and the Yemeni Armed Forces have responded to their people's call to action and to the instructions of Ansar Allah leader, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi.

In fact, the Yemeni Armed Forces have launched multiple attacks on Israeli targets in occupied Palestine and have adopted three attacks on Israeli-affiliated ships, including the seizure of the Galaxy Leader in the Red Sea.

Yemen's attacks have had ground-shaking effects on "Israel", as the world's second-largest shipping company, A.P. Moller-Maersk, announced that it will start imposing a new risk surcharge on container shipments heading to "Israel" starting next year, citing the need to cover rising insurance premiums due to the unstable security situation.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have promised to continue their operations against "Israel" until it stops its aggression against the Gaza Strip.

A missile attack targeted on Friday dawn the U.S. Embassy in Iraq’s Green Zone in the capital of Baghdad.

Good of Rand Paul to call for the removal of US troops from Syria. Curious though, that he doesn’t mention that the US military presence in Syria is an illegal occupation, especially in the face of the Syrian government’s repeated demands that they leave. Nor does Rand Paul mention the fact that the US military has been occupying Syrian oil sites and looting the oil, and preventing Syrians from accessing their own oil resources.

At first sight the presence of US troops in Syria doesn’t seem to have anything do with Isreal. But recent history shows it has everything to do with it. There is no question that the US stoked the civil war in Syria to destabilize it, most likely at Isreal’s request, since this is helping Isreal’s illegal occupation of the Golan Heights. Both the USA and Isreal provided support to IS with weapons and medical assistance. Also, Isreal has conducted several unprovoked attacks against Syria in recent months, on the pretext that they’re preventing Iranian military forces from operating in the area.

So, once again, Isreal has manipulated US military in positions to trigger a war against Iran. Something Netanyahu has been wanting the USA to do for decades now.

Near the start of this very strong conversation between Judge Napolitano, Matthew Hoh and Ray McGovern, Matt Hoh makes the point that I've been thinking of for a while but which I've not seen referenced in too many commentaries.

It goes without saying, in my view, that tens of thousands of deaths of innocent civilians, including MANY doctors, nurses, women and children, are a modern medieval horror that casts an indelible, lasting, terminal pile of shame on anyone in Netanyanu's government and (I'll say it clearly) anyone who supports Israel's actions.

But the deaths of tens of thousands of innocents is still a fraction of Gaza's population of over two million. What is actually FAR more damaging to Palestine's survival is the systematic and deliberate destruction of the entire infrastructure.

Mosques, churches, schools, libraries, hospitals, hundreds if not thousands of residential apartment blocks, roads, gas stations, power systems, water supplies, and much much more. In fact, everything a civilization needs to function. If Gaza is to be eradicated, that's what will do it unless there's a ceasefire VERY soon.

I will not look away.

No matter how horrific it gets, I will not look away.

No matter how many children I see killed and injured in the most gruesome ways imaginable, I will not look away.

No matter how much human suffering I see by keeping my gaze on Gaza, I will not look away.

No matter how many nightmares I have, I will not look away.

No matter how many tears I shed, I will not look away.

No matter how many reasons the propagandists and manipulators come up with for me to turn my gaze elsewhere, I will not look away.

No matter how many insults and accusations I am tarred with for refusing to look away, I will not look away.

No matter how much easier it would be to look away, I will not look away.

I will not avert my gaze. I will not become distracted. I will not lose myself to the sedated stupor of escapism. I will not do my best to pretend that everything is normal and that life is basically fine.

It’s a paltry offering, really. Almost nothing. But it’s all I’ve got to offer: this simple, sacred vow to honor the victims by refusing to look away from what’s being inflicted upon them. To be here for it, to the furthest extent possible.

The people of Gaza are suffering far more than I have ever suffered, and probably far more than I ever will suffer. But, in my own meager and entirely insufficient way, I can try to make sure they’re not suffering on their own.

To the extent of one person’s gaze, one person’s attention, one person’s reverence, I can ensure that the world has not turned their back on them. I can ensure that, to that extent, they are not forgotten.

That way even if my other efforts fail, if all our collective efforts fail, if the activism comes up short, if we fail to open enough eyes and apply enough pressure in the necessary places, then at least their deaths, their losses and their anguish will not have slipped by unnoticed. I will not look away, because these lives matter and I have a duty to honor them.

I will not look away, because that would be giving the bastards what they want.

I will not look away, because even in my powerlessness to help I still have the power to bear witness.
