Launching major Israeli op. against Hezbollah 'strategic mistake'

As regional tensions rise and global public pressure increases on the United States and "Tel Aviv" to stop the genocide in Gaza, Israelis find themselves running against the clock to secure any military achievement related to their war objectives, after four months of fighting without being able to attain any.

In a report published on Tuesday, Axios revealed that Washington and four of its European partners are looking to reach an agreement that could ease escalations between the Israeli occupation and Hezbollah, who had launched operations in support of Gaza directly following Operation Al-Aqsa Flood last October.
Citing sources, the news site said the understandings pushed forward by the US, UK, France, Germany, and Italy would include a "series of commitments" by Israelis and the Lebanese Resistance.

Washington had repeatedly expressed concerns that the occupation would be unable to fight simultaneously on two fronts, while also claiming that it did not want the "conflict to expand in the region."

Meanwhile, in the past few weeks, the US saw itself being further directly involved in a war in the region after refusing to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza, with American fighter jets bombing sites in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

With intensifying escalations on the Lebanese-Palestinian border, especially after the Israeli assassination of Hamas Resistance leader Sheikh Saleh al-Arouri and the growing Yemeni operations in the Red Sea, the US is trying to contain the front with Hezbollah, for the sake of "Israel", before the situation goes out of hand and turns into a wider war.

Worried about the heating events, US officials conveyed to "Israel" that they acknowledge its capacity to inflict significant damage on Lebanon. However, they believe that initiating a substantial military campaign against Hezbollah would be a strategic error, according to the source with knowledge of the matter.

According to Axios, Washington seeks understandings between Hezbollah and the occupation entity to ensure that the fighting stops.

In that pursuit, US President Joe Biden's trusted envoy Amos Hochstein made a trip last week to "Israel" and met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Security Minister Yoav Gallant to discuss his proposal for a new border status quo.

The proposal, as per the report, is based on the 1996 "Grapes of Wrath" draft declared then by the US and other countries to end an Israeli aggression on Lebanon.

The countries involved would not officially sign the new understandings, but the agreements would detail the commitments of both parties in a statement.

Economic benefits for Lebanon will also be announced by the five powers if understandings are reached, sources told Axios.

Anger grows over viral image of wounded Palestinian stripped to underwear

Anger is mounting over an image released by an Israeli soldier towering over a stripped, bound and wounded Palestinian man in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In the undated image uploaded to Instagram by Yosee Gamzoo, who appears to be the featured soldier, the Palestinian man’s hands are tied behind his back as blood pours from a wound in his leg at a school in Gaza City.

Gamzoo has since deleted the post as well as his Instagram account after the image went viral and was widely shared by pro-Palestinian accounts.

Several social media users condemned the photo, with some likening it to images from Abu Ghraib where Iraqi detainees were humiliated and tortured by American guards.

"This is one of the most moral armies," journalist Dima Halwani sarcastically tweeted as she shared the photo.

On Monday, US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel called the image "deeply troubling" but deferred questions about violations of humanitarian law in relation to the Israeli military.

"I have no knowledge or information as it relates to the circumstances surrounding that incident," Patel said.

Late last year, images shared by Israeli soldiers caused widespread anger as they showed scores of blindfolded and handcuffed Palestinian men in Gaza City who were forced to strip down to their underwear.

Israeli media had claimed the images were of Hamas members surrendering themselves. However, among them were doctors, teachers and journalists, including Diaa al-Kahlout, a correspondent for Araby al-Jadeed.

Since then, similar instances of abuse have been captured on camera. Last week, the Palestinian foreign affairs ministry called for an international probe into "Israeli massacres" in Gaza after the discovery of a mass grave.

The bodies of 50 men, women and children were discovered in body bags in a schoolyard in the northern Gaza Strip.

One of Japan’s biggest trading firms, Itochu, decided to end its partnership with a major Israeli defense company due to the war in Gaza.

The sprawling conglomerate, best known outside Japan for its Family Mart chain of convenience stores, said its aviation unit will cut ties with Elbit Systems, which bills itself as Israel’s largest defense contractor, by the end of February, CNN reported.

The decision was made following a January ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) — the top court of the United Nations — and guidance given by Japan’s Foreign Ministry to observe the court’s findings in “good faith”, a spokesperson for Itochu told CNN on Tuesday.

Yemen’s Naval Forces successfully targeted two ships belonging to the United States and the United Kingdom in the Red Sea. This development was announced by Yahya Saree, the spokesperson of the Yemeni Armed Forces.

The first strike, according to Saree, hit the US ship named “Star Nasia”, while the second one took aim at the British vessel called “Morning Tide.” Saree emphasized that the strikes were executed with precision, courtesy of “suitable naval missiles.”

Saree also declared that the Yemeni Armed Forces have their sights set on carrying out additional military operations against American and British targets in the Arabian and Red Seas. This bold move is in response to the ongoing aggression against Yemen and is seen as a necessary means of defending Yemen and its people.

Furthermore, Saree highlighted the determination of the Yemeni Armed Forces to specifically target Israeli shipping and vessels headed to occupied Palestinian ports in the Red Sea. These actions will persist until the siege on Gaza is lifted, and the aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip comes to an end.

In a related incident today, the eastern part of Saada, a city in northern Yemen, experienced three airstrikes by the US-UK duo. This new strike was reported by Yemeni news agency SABA.

However, Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister for the Sanaa government, Hussein al-Aazzi, emphasized that resorting to violence will not resolve any issues with Yemen. He stressed that the only viable path to resolution is through wisdom and dialogue.

During a press conference on Monday, al-Aazzi praised Saudi Arabia’s stance on the unfolding events in the Red Sea and affirmed that the Sanaa government will persist in seeking peace with neighboring nations.

The diplomat expressed gratitude to the people of the United States and the United Kingdom who have voiced their support for the Yemeni people in the face of the ongoing aggression led by their respective governments.

Al-Aazzi called for concerted efforts to garner global backing for Yemen and to reject the aggressive policies pursued by America and Britain toward the region. He noted that the United States disguises its aggressions with deceitful pretexts and reminded that approximately 300 strikes on Yemen have been executed by the US-British-led coalition. He made it clear that the United States “cannot escape punishment” for these actions.

CNN staff divided over network’s bias on Gaza war due to Israel directives

American news outlet, CNN, has been accused of broadcasting biased reporting on Israel’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip, favouring Israeli narratives while suppressing Palestinian voices.
According to a report by British newspaper, The Guardian, six journalists from CNN newsrooms in the United States and internationally revealed that the outlet’s new management and editorial process leaning toward pro-Israel narratives have led to “journalistic malpractice”.
The unnamed journalists outlined several points to the newspaper as evidence of CNN’s bias, including the outlet’s complete lack of interviews conducted with Hamas members since the Palestinian Resistance group’s 7 October attacks into Israeli-held territory surrounding Gaza, as well as the channel having “taken at face value” Israeli government statements, while simultaneously restricting quotes from Hamas officials.
The sources highlighted the marked difference in reporting by CNN International and the domestic CNN channel in the US, with the former apparently demonstrating “hard-hitting reporting by correspondents on the ground” whereas the latter was “marginalised by hours of interviews with Israeli officials and supporters of the war in Gaza who were given free rein to make their case, often unchallenged and sometimes with presenters making supportive statements”.

Coverage was also reportedly heavily influenced by external forces prior to publication or broadcast, such as the need to attain approval from CNN‘s Jerusalem bureau which allegedly heavily filters the content. “Many have been pushing for more content from Gaza to be alerted and aired”, one journalistic source said. “By the time these reports go through Jerusalem and make it to TV or the homepage, critical changes – from the introduction of imprecise language to an ignorance of crucial stories – ensure that nearly every report, no matter how damning, relieves Israel of wrongdoing”.
The alleged Israeli influence on CNN’s coverage – at least in recent months – is reported to be significantly caused by the appointment of its CEO and editor-in-chief, Mark Thompson, only two days after Hamas’s 7 October operation.
According to the Guardian report, Thompson – the New York Times’ former CEO and the BBC’s former director-general – has been under pressure and influence by the Israeli government on numerous occasions, with a key example being his firing of a BBC correspondent from her post in Jerusalem back in 2005, reportedly due to direct pressure from Tel Aviv.
With the pro-Israel editorial line in CNN being set by the corporation’s new executive, the outlet’s staff are reported to be divided over the state of its biased coverage. One journalist referred to it as a “schism” within the network, reminiscent of the internal divides over channels’ pro-government narratives that followed the 9/11 attacks. “There’s a lot of internal strife and dissent. Some people are looking to get out”.
Another journalist revealed that “senior staffers who disagree with the status quo are butting heads with the executives giving orders, questioning how we can effectively tell the story with such restrictive directives in place”.

Resistance targets more than 18 Israeli soldiers in Gaza (Footage)


Palestinian Resistance factions launched multiple operations on Wednesday against invading Israeli occupation forces in several axes across the Gaza Strip.

The operations were effective in that a number of Israeli soldiers were killed or injured, while several armored vehicles were targeted across the Gaza Strip. The Resistance utilized thermobaric rounds to target units hiding in buildings, suicide drones, and various types of rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs).

Ground-shaking sniping operations

The military media units of several Resistance factions, including al-Qassam, al-Quds, and al-Mujahideen Brigades released multiple pieces of footage, documenting rocket launching operations, as well as close-quarters combat, while al-Qassam's Military Media released ground-shaking footage of a sniping operation it had conducted against occupation forces positioned to the west of Gaza City at an earlier time.

On Tuesday, al-Qassam Brigades announced that its sniper units shot down an Israeli officer and an Israeli soldier to the west of Gaza City, in al-Jami'at area, where occupation forces are bulldozing and excavating the area.

Today, the Brigades showcased a sniping operation in the same area, where at least two members of the unit, a marksman and a spotter, monitored and shot at an Israeli officer who had been overseeing the excavation process in the area. The unit utilized a locally-produced Ghoul anti-material sniper rifle, achieving a direct hit to the back mid-section of the Israeli soldier, who was seen screaming for help, as he would later be seen lying lifeless on the ground.

Gaza Strip operations on February 7, 2024

Al-Qassam Brigades

Al-Qassam announced that its fighters targeted a grouping of Israeli occupation soldiers that had positioned themselves in a building in "Bloc C" to the west of the city of Khan Younis with a thermobaric anti-fortifications round, followed by an anti-personnel shell. The screams of occupation soldiers were heard in the area, the Military Media announced.
Al-Qassam Brigades sniper units shot down an Israeli soldier near al-Sinaa intersection, to the west of Gaza City.
The Resistance also targeted a total of 2 Merkava tanks, including a Merkava 4 tank and a military-grade bulldozer.
In a joint operation, al-Qassam Brigades announced that its fighters alongside al-Quds Brigades fighters targeted a total of 10 Israeli occupation soldiers and officers who had also taken position in a building in "Bloc C". The Resistance confirmed casualties among all members of the force who were targeted with two anti-personnel shells and assault rifles.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades announced yet another joint operation with al-Quds Brigades fighters, in which the two factions fired a number of rockets toward groupings of Israeli occupation soldiers to the west of Gaza City.
Al-Mujahideen Brigades

Al-Mujahideen fighters targeted an Israeli Merkava tank with an anti-armor shell to the west of Gaza City.
The group also launched a number of short-range rocket artillery at Israeli occupation forces located in al-Jawazat area to the west of Gaza City.
Al-Quds Brigades

The Resistance faction confirmed that its fighters killed an entire force, which consists of seven troops, to the west of Khan Younis, after targeting it with a thermobaric round.
Al-Quds Brigades fighters took down at least one Israeli drone in al-Bureij in the central Gaza Strip.
The group targeted a military-grade bulldozer with an RPG, killing its operator to the west of Khan Younis in al-Amal neighborhood.
Al-Quds Brigades' Air Force launched a Sayyad and a Suhab suicide drone in a unique announcement since confrontations began on October 7. The drones can be seen in the image below.

Hamas 3-stage plan hanging in balance because of Israel

Hamas has reportedly proposed a three-stage 135-day truce and hostage deal, as well as Israel's' withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

"Everyone except for Israel appears to have an incentive for a cessation of hostilities," Mehran Kamrava, professor of government at Georgetown University, Qatar, told Sputnik.

Some Israeli officials deem that Hamas' proposals are unacceptable: "What Hamas' proposal is basically, after the horrific massacre that they carried out against Israel on October 7th, is that they would be given, in fact, immunity if not even reward," Prof. Meir Litvak, a leading Israeli expert on Hamas, told Sputnik, commenting on Tel Aviv hard-liners' stance.

Palestinian militant group Hamas views a ceasefire as the only way out of the ongoing bloodshed in the Gaza Strip which has seen over 27,000 Palestinians killed. Qatar and Egypt are seeking to stop hostilities with the backing of their Arab allies.

For its part, the Biden administration understands that it is getting bogged down in the MidEast conflict which could backfire during the 2024 elections, according to Ayman Yousef, professor in political sciences and international relations at the Arab-American University in Palestine.

"At this stage, the United States is really more involved now in the Middle East affairs, they are in direct confrontation with Iran, whether it is in Iraq, in Syria, in Yemen," Yousef told Sputnik. The White House is running out of time as the election nears and Joe Biden is rapidly losing support of his Democratic base, including youths, non-whites, Arabs and Muslim Americans.

His disclosure came after a meeting with US Secretary Antony Blinken over a proposed deal by Hamas to pause fighting in the four-month-old war, which the Israeli leader called "bizarre".

"We are on the path to complete victory, and it is close. We are talking about months, not years or decades. The Israel Defense Forces is doing miracles," Netanyahu said.

Meanwhile the Hamas delegation will head to Cairo to continue negotiations on the Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to a political office member.
