Default Nuclear War - Annie Jacobsen

Annie Jacobsen: Nuclear War, CIA, KGB, Aliens, Area 51, Roswell & Secrecy | Lex Fridman Podcast #420

    3:07:26

Annie Jacobsen is an American investigative journalist, author, and a 2016 Pulitzer Prize finalist. Her most recent book (pictured below) will be released on 28th March 2024. At 3+ hours it's a long video but the timestamp below will help if you want to skip parts. I'm only 30 minutes in, but it's riveting and given the current escalation in both Ukraine and Palestine, the more information we have about nuclear war the better. I really hope that if the world comes through these wars intact that systems will be put in place to ensure, once and for all, that the possibility of Nuclear War is nil.

Many thanks indeed, and I'm just 30 minutes in as well.

    A few interim comments:
    • Russian nuclear weapons are more modern, potent, tested and reliable than American ones. It's not the number of weapons that counts, it's their potential effectiveness, and whether they would (a) actually work and (b) not get shot down.
    • Russian anti-missile systems (S-400, S-500, and S-550) are also far superior than US Patriot systems.
    • The US would almost certainly never intervene in a nuclear exchange in Europe. They'd stay out of it and let the Europeans fend for themselves.
    • Annie Jacobsen means well, for sure, but is very mainstream. (See her earlier Area 51 book, for instance.) At 18:35 she asserts that Russia is "sort of threatening" to use tactical nukes "right now". That's not true, and is just part of the western narrative. But Russia WILL use nukes (and strategic ones, too), if their very existence as a nation state is threatened. That's the stated core component of their published nuclear doctrine.
    • This wasn't part of Jacobsen's presentation (or focus), but Israel may be the greater danger. The 'Samson Option' is that if their own existence is seriously endangered, they'd take down everyone else with them. That's NOT the same as the doctrines of either the US or Russia.
    • And maybe most worrying of all: the US President is supposed to be the executive decision-maker in the event of action needing to be taken regarding a nuclear strike. But the very idea of Biden being given 6 minutes to make such a critical decision all on his own is both laughable and terrifying.
    • Highly recommended: the terrific Avalon thread Two men who saved the world — two astonishing true stories from the Cold War, that only emerged years later.
    • Finally (for now), a great quote from the excellent 1997 movie The Peacemaker. "I'm not afraid of the man who wants ten nuclear weapons. I'm terrified of the man who only wants one."

Over an hour in now, and I do HIGHLY recommend this.

Some more movie references. Very relevant and not at all trivial, as the themes are well-thought out and instructive (and extremely well-produced and acted, too.)
    • Fail Safe (both versions, 1964 and 2000), about a nuclear strike against Moscow caused by a system error.
    • Crimson Tide (1995), about a mutiny on a US nuclear submarine over whether or not to launch missiles against Russia after a malfunction leaves the launch order ambiguous.
    • The Sum of All Fears (2002), about a rogue nuke suitcase bomb that the US has assumed Russia is responsible for.
    • The War Game (1966) and Threads (1984), considered by many as the two most terrifying and realistic docudramas ever made.

“All it takes is one nihilistic madman with a nuclear arsenal” – quote by Richard Garwin from the above interview

Firstly, here’s a link to transcript. I found it easier to digest than the interview, which moves along at pace:.
    https://www.happyscribe.com/public/l...oswell-secrecy

    A case in point:
“a nuclear armed, nuclear powered submarine is as dangerous to civilization as an asteroid. They are unstoppable. They are unlocatable. The former chief of the nuclear submarine forces, Admiral Michael Connor, said it's easier to find a grapefruit sized object in space than a submarine under the sea. So these things are like hell machines, and they're moving around throughout the oceans. Ours (ie USA), Russia's, China's, maybe, North Korea's, constantly. And we now know they're sneaking up to the east and west coast of the United States within a couple hundred miles”.

According to Chat GPT, there are approximately 160 nuclear submarines in the world. UK and France have 4 each and the rest are owned by United States, Russia, China and India. Google reveals that 9 nuclear submarines have sunk and although there must be multi safety levels built into the craft, presumably they still post an environmental threat.
Overall, what was brought home to me from this interview was that nuclear war today would be nothing like Hiroshima or Nagasaki, horrific though they were. Forget about evacuation, bug-out bag or getting to a place of safety, even if you could get to a spot miles underground. Spending 6 minutes running to a “safe place” would seem to be to waste the last 6 minutes of our lives.

In the meantime I’m working my way through the transcript . . .

At 1:43:25, Jacobsen refers to a 1985 collection of several major essays about nuclear winter called The Cold and The Dark, which I'd been unaware of. I found it, and it's now in the Avalon Library.

The number 1 rogue state world wide

The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out the illegal expansion of US borders in the Arctic

Russia does not recognize the outer limits of the continental shelf announced by the United States in December 2023 beyond 200 nautical miles from the baselines, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. The department noted that Moscow expressed a demarche to Washington on a bilateral basis in connection with plans to illegally expand the boundaries of the continental shelf.

Currently, the city of Kingston (Jamaica) is hosting a session of the Council of the International Seabed Authority, which is designed to regulate the activities of states in the deep seabed area. It operates in accordance with the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

During the session, the Russian delegation announced its non-recognition of the outer limits of the continental shelf declared unilaterally by the United States in December 2023 beyond 200 nautical miles from the baselines from which the width of the territorial sea is measured in seven regions of the World Ocean

    – emphasized in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Diplomats pointed out that the White House is trying to reduce the area under the jurisdiction of the Seabed Council and acquire additional shelf areas for its own use, which is about one million square kilometers. The Russian department noted that the unilateral steps of the United States do not comply with the rules and procedures established by international law.

Much information to take in, phew!

But I still find it hard to swallow her theory about the Roswell crash that...
"Stalin was able to get a craft over the United States and it crashed and it know people inside of it, they were people that were sort of deformed and meant surgically altered to look like aliens."

She revels that source for that story is...
"Al O'Donnell, who is the nuclear weapons engineer who armed, wired, and fired 186 nuclear weapons. Okay? So if you want to talk about. You're the first person I've told that on the record, but it's kind of about time."

    • If I am correct:
When someone says: "Radius of 9 Kilometers aka 5.6 Miles" you have to double that size that makes it 18 km/11.2 Miles and that is just 1 point to another point on a 2D map!

What you see in the video below is not "just 1 point to another point on the map" but "squared"! >>> 18 Km squared is alt least an impact of 324 Km/201 Miles area! >>> not counting the aftermath of the surrounding area outside the zone of impact!... Aftermath like: the enormous shockwave & super heat wave affecting 40 Km/24.85 Miles squared and the radiation fall out of contaminated particles coming down, making a huge area at least 100Km/62 Miles squared unlivable for centuries!

And that was a Russian made weapon, ready for use in 1961 ... 63 years ago! ... Let that sink in for a moment!

Please correct me if I am wrong in understanding what people on Earth could face in coming decades?

Unless UFOs/UAPs will intervene as they already did in the past ... there are multiple "UFOs & Nukes" Project Avalon Forum Threads discussing exactly that:

Another interview with Annie Jacobsen, a couple of hours long and published 4 days ago. The interview itself starts a couple of minutes in after the (maybe unnecessarily!) dramatic intro.

I've not listened to all of this yet, but I will. Annie has some mainstream views, for sure, but her focus on the topic right now may be instructive and timely.

An update on the above. I'm now 45 minutes in, and it's riveting — even more so than the earlier Annie Jacobsen interview posted above. (And refreshingly, she seems to largely steer clear of current geopolitical issues and potential propaganda-driven prejudices.)

It motivated me to find her book (Nuclear War: A Scenario), which is now in the Avalon Library.

Unashamedly bumping this once again. I've now finished listening (there's nothing to 'watch'), and I was transfixed throughout.

There were one or two brief (though equally interesting) diversions into DARPA and Area 51, but each time the conversation returned to topic. The interviewer here (Steven Bartlett) is VERY good, better than Lex Fridman in the first interview on this thread. There's a heart-centered theme that runs through the two hours, so very welcome against the backdrop of such potentially inhuman horror.

Which is why I believe such a scenario will never be allowed to happen to the majority of humans, or the Earth. There are forces out there who have Humanity's back., and this planet we are on is simply not ours to destroy 'just like that'.

Bill, I ask this question in all sincerity...why do I want to know all this? I'm a relatively intelligent woman, I've lived quite a long time, I think I know as much about this as I want to. It is utterly beyond my control. I use my spiritual, mental and physical powers as well as I can. I think intention and kindness are my main choices in my daily life. I feel this same way about the extinction possibilities with solar phenomena. I just choose to not read about it at length, fill my mind with possibilities of the destruction that could come, and may actually come, or may not. What does that accomplish? I don't know how one would do that and not increase fear and foreboding. Actually, I agree with Mari in the post above that that will not be how the earth ends. But even if it does, what is gained about knowing and dwelling on it? I don't see this as a "head in the sand" approach at all, but rather a choice as to how to determine the quality of my days. I also am not one to do unlimited reading on a daily basis, and so I choose what I want to focus on. I would like yours and others thoughts on this as I sometimes feel there is judgement (not especially from you) about those who don't choose to make this a very big part of their reality.

Dear Diane, I think maybe you may remember there is an Avalon member who a little while back shared that she had had repeated, ongoing, face-to-face personal encounters with an advanced non-human being who had told her a whole bunch of things — including the following:
    1. There would be "Fire from the Sky" (an exact quote from the Fatima and Akita prophecies, though as best I know this person had been unaware of those),
    2. There would probably be a major war (but one that in theory could be averted if humans "did the right things"),
    3. That whether there was a war or not, "the evil would be destroyed", but
    4. The Earth itself would NOT be permitted to be destroyed.
So I track all this, rather like watching a point traveling on an animated map. (This is why I also follow Ben Davidson's Suspicious 0bservers solar activity reports.) If the evil were to be destroyed, even though quite a lot else might be as well, that might be a GOOD thing.

I've written elsewhere that my personal best-guess timescale for this was 2028-29, although a couple of weeks ago I got a very strong, clear 'flash' download that the date (for something! But I believe it was a major solar event) was more likely September 2027. That's earlier than Ben Davidson predicts, but it's within the range of possibility.

I was thinking while listening to the interview a couple hours ago exactly what Mari said above: that the ETs would not permit a full-scale end-of-everything holocaust. And I fully believe that. What form the warned-of war might take (IF it happens) would seem most likely to be a nuclear exchange of some kind, but NOT a launch-everything Dr. Strangelove apocalypse that would be the end of humanity.

So in summary, my own interest in this is simply to track and understand claimed likelihoods of events. I kind of regard it rather as my job. Sometimes, when I focus intently on something like this (as in getting drawn into a very vivid interview or documentary), I do get downloads, which I dutifully record in my journal each time.

But I can't make them happen (no matter how much I try! ), they arrive totally spontaneously if and when they do — and today, even listening intently to Annie Jacobsen and her own dire hypothetical scenario, I got nothing further at all.

    The year was 1992!

It all seems such a long time ago now but it is the information we received then that keeps me sane and grounded in these stressful days being thrust upon us by God knows who …

We were in contact with those ‘enigmatic men from the stars’ , as Margo’s guide Jane Taylor referred to them , or ETs for want of a better word, and this is a part of the communications from a planet known to its inhabitants as IXOLT.

“Some time ago a few of our fellow beings spoke to you. They returned and now we have come from IXOLT, the ones with the creamy skin.
We came in another golden craft, larger than the last.

Our predecessors were sad over the cruelty of man. We are making a recording of all we see and hear over this, and the attitude of man.

The sea is being poisoned. The creatures of the oceans that are more intelligent than man are being caught, killed or trained to perform.

But we are so surprised at the cruelty to one another, man against man in so many lands.

We have nothing like this. We are happy intelligent beings, and so like man to look at, but not in nature.

Next time come with love in your heart. You are fortunate to be more intelligent than than a lot of your fellow creatures; you hear and see, so many are blind and deaf, so you can be contacted in clear air which is up high.

I, the Exoltian, can contact you once more through Intergalactic Control System.

Did you know that from other galaxies we can belong to this group, as you appear to?

The hole in your Ozone layer, as you call it, is very large and your leaders only talk and do nothing. The scientific men, who are only infants to us, should work out a formula using the XY minus codes to find the solution , it can be done. We had trouble a long time ago, many hundreds of Earth years, and we solved it - equations, logarithms, as your learned men call them. Never mind those infantile computers, which do not give accurate results, they are for young children to play with.

We will see if we can help by using some of our knowledge. You need help urgently. I shall report on this in a week or so as I have to communicate with base. I am pleased you belong as you are friendly towards us.”

That evening I asked the question - ‘Why do the Exoltians not use the media and TV directly?’

Margo’s guide John Powles answered in this manner -

“It has proved more difficult than to get through to powerful mediums, and it is better to get through to individuals as it is taken more notice of. People do not know what goes on behind closed doors of government and OUR LEADERS KNOW MORE THAN THEY LET ON TO TJE GENERAL PUBLIC. You must realise that the time is not right for the public to know. They have tried to use TV since VOICE FROM SPACE (November 26 1977) but it hasn’t worked as those in charge of broadcasting we’re aware of what was happening and blacked it out.”

That was 1977 and here we are in 2024, still on the road to nowhere! War and destruction of nature continue to ravage our home planet. We live in very dangerous times and need to hang on to our very souls in this godless society. The warnings continue, but are humanity prepared to listen and change their ways?

Are they also prepared to understand that we are not alone in this universe, and never have been. We are children of the universe and not just Earth!

    The IXOLTIAN continues:

“The large hole is responsible for many disasters, like floods and cyclones. Your scientists are useless. I have been informed that they would not know what the ‘minus code’ I gave them was. This is so simple to us and it is in our interest that this hole gets smaller instead of growing as IT AFFECTS OUR PLANS FOR PLANET EARTH IN THE FUTURE.
I may speak again in a week.”

“Once more from the ship from IXOLT I greet you. We are working very hard and are sure we can succeed with our mission. I understand you have heard of strange beings who take over the bodies of Earthling. This is unknown to us, and I am sure we know more on this subject than anyone, so be careful not to believe all you hear.

There are many planets that have life on them more intelligent than yours as I know you are aware of this.

WE HAVE A PLAN FOR PLANET EARTH AND IT IS NOT TO BE DESTROYED, so be assured our work is not for your distress.

Words come difficult at times. Be prepared to hear me again.”

“Greetings once more from our craft which is beyond the reach of your primitive radar system. I hear your remarks.

We are about six to six and one quarter of earthly feet in height. I hope that satisfies your earthly curiosity!

Yes, we realise two of you once lived on our planet. This was before our grandfather’s time, as you would call them.

(Margo’s guide, Jane Taylor, meanwhile had informed her of a life on IXOLT between lives on LEMURIA and ATLANTIS. It was during this lifetime she met and worked with Brian Wells, the father of Robin Wells)

Now to Earth’s problems. The ozone hole we are taking care of, it will get no larger and should get smaller. Global warming will not get beyond what it is, and the Earth is not tilting as some of your primitive people are saying.

WE PLAN MUCH LATER TO ENTER THE EARTH’S POPULATION, YET IT WILL BE WITH THE EARTH’S PEOPLE’S BLESSING AND NOT BY FORCE

I shall not be there myself. I hope this answers any further queries you have on this subject.

You may or may not hear from time to time from us or our neighbours. I am pleased to make contact”

That was the final message from the Ixoltians yet I believe we are still being monitored by those enigmatic men from the stars who truly have our welfare at heart. Their energies are here to counteract those of the agenda being played out on Earth at this time in the war for the souls of humanity.

In the meantime I’m working my way through the transcript . . .
Hi Miller, Just two things if i may, if these Nuclear subs are "Unlocatable" how do the yanks know they got as close to the USA east and West coasts of within a couple of hundred miles....?

And this last sentence in paragraph 1,......."And we now know they're sneaking up to the east and west coast of the United States within a couple hundred miles”.
When the author (dunno who that is) says,.........."And we now know they're sneaking up", ....any idea who "they're" are supposed to be...? Chinese, Russian, India, maybe all of the above lol.

Anyway im not nit picking at you Miller, i like your stuff here, but my brain askes me so many questions that i need to share and hopefully get answers from you guys here.

"He was saber-rattling with North Korea during COVID, and he said, “They need to know if they launch one nuclear weapon, we launch one. If they launch two, we launch two.”
