Such a campaign would likely critically deplete the West’s ability to shoot down even the lowest scale Shahed drone threat. Just look at Ukraine—it is going through the same lesson as we speak.

What does this mean?

One neglected consequence of this is that Iran now stands to field the ability to totally disrupt Israel’s economic way of life. If Iran were to engage in a committed campaign of mass strikes, it could totally paralyze the Israeli economy by making entire areas uninhabitable, causing mass migrations in the same way the Hamas attack led thousands of Israelis to flee.

Unlike Israel’s barbaric and savage genocide aimed primarily at civilians, last night’s Iranian attack exclusively targeted military sites. But if Iran wanted to, they could launch mass infrastructure attacks in the way Russia has now done to Ukraine’s energy grids, further compounding the economic damage. In short: Iran could mire Israel in months’ and years’ long economic malaise or outright devastation.

Failure to condemn the Israeli bombing of Tehran's consulate in Syria spurred the latest violence, Russia's ambassador has argued Russian Ambassador to the UN Vassily Nebenzia

The UN Security Council helped give rise to Saturday's Iranian attack against Israel by hypocritically failing to take action over the illegal bombing that provoked the latest violence in the region, Russia's ambassador to the global body has claimed.

"What happened on the night of April 14 did not happen in a vacuum," Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told members of the UN Security Council on Sunday. "The steps undertaken by Iran became a reaction to the disgraceful inaction by this council."

At issue was the April 1 missile strike that killed seven Iranian military officers, including two senior commanders, at Tehran's consulate in Damascus. Western members of the Security Council stood in the way of rebuking Israel over the "egregious attack," despite the fact that it was a violation of international law on the inviolability of diplomatic installations, the Russian envoy said.

"We called on UN Security Council colleagues to clearly and unequivocally condemn such reckless steps to make sure that they don't get repeated," Nebenzia noted. "We also warned that otherwise, the risk of a repeat of such acts and a general escalation in the region would grow manifold." He added, "The outcome is now clear for everyone to see."

Iran launched hundreds of suicide drones and missiles against Israel on Saturday night. West Jerusalem claimed success in intercepting 99% of the barrages and preventing major casualties or infrastructure damage.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry responded by calling for "painful sanctions" against Iran, as well as the designation of Tehran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. An emergency UN Security Council session was convened to discuss the attack.

Nebenzia contrasted the council's concern over protecting Western nations and their allies with its inaction when Israel bombed Iran's consulate. "We know very well that an attack against a diplomatic representation is a casus belli under international law. And if a Western representation had been hit, you would immediately have rained down reprisals."

However, he added, "when it comes to other countries, their rights - including the right to self-defense - well, that's a different matter, as you like to say... What we're witnessing is a display of hypocrisy and double standards that is almost embarrassing to watch."

The US, UK, and France essentially declined to confirm that the basic principles of international law concerning diplomatic facilities apply equally to all states, Nebenzia said. At the same time, Israel has faced no consequences for disregarding UN resolutions, including last month's demand for a ceasefire in Gaza.

"We think it's urgent for the entire international community to undertake all efforts necessary to deescalate the situation," the ambassador said. "Otherwise, the region could be drawn into a vicious cycle of mutual attacks and violence."

The real estate events peddling land in Israeli settlements in the West Bank appear to flout US and international law.

"Your chance to own a piece of the Holy Land!" exclaims the cheerful advertising copy on a real estate website aimed at attracting buyers in the U.S. and Canada to purchase land located in Israel and in a number of Israeli settlements in the West Bank. The site describes five land sale events that occurred this spring in the U.S. and Canada.

Another land sale event held in Baltimore invited attendees to "Buy Your Home in Israel Now!" But, as with the other events, attendees couldn't just be anyone interested in some freshly stolen land. You have to be Jewish, but not just any kind of Jewish.

Greg Kaplan, a local Jewish community member who wanted to learn more about these restrictive events and who tried signing up for the April 1 land sale event in Baltimore, which was hosted by the Jerusalem-based CapitIL Real Estate Agency, told me:

I got a call from Shmuly Eisenmann of CapitIL. He asked me where I daven, who the rabbi is there, and for the rabbi's number, seeming incredulous that I wouldn't just have the rabbi's number stored in my phone. He said he would check on me with the rabbi and asked if the rabbi would know who I was. I said probably not because I don't go to shul that much. He asked if there was someone at another shul who could vouch for me.

Kaplan was not allowed into the event, which was scheduled to take place at Shomrei Emunah, "a full-service shul and Jewish center" in Baltimore whose list of speakers and scholars in residence includes an IDF lieutenant colonel.

The commission added that these events violate not only U.S. law but also international law with regard to hosts "exhibiting and offering properties on West Bank settlements recognized as illegal by the U.S. Department of State and by international law" including "Article 49 of the Geneva Convention ... Settlements have been found to be grave breaches of international law, and therefore war crimes, by the International Court [ICJ] of Justice in 2004, and are also currently under review by the ICJ in the context of the case of South Africa v. Israel for crimes of genocide, and by the International Criminal Court."

My two cents: Iran earned themselves a lot of respect from both sides of the aisle (when one removes the propaganda wool, especially from the West).

--> Giving everyone a heads up of about a week to get ready and prepare themselves (including Israel, NATO, the Arab neighbors etc)

--> Even when finally striking they gave everyone another 3 hours or so!

--> Despite all this they still managed to showcase determination/ prowess and that they can and DO mean business!

--> Sparing (civilian) lifes but still striking significant military sites (Negev,Ramon,Mount Hermon intelligence HQ)

--> They achieved this with an air attack crossing several countries which I believe was a World's first!

--> Everyone (outside of propaganda) has realized what Iran is capable of and that they could inflict REAL damage if they wanted to
