Forbes:
No less than three Ukrainian brigades, totaling up to 6,000 soldiers equipped with NATO gear, are advancing on the Kursk region. They risk being encircled.
▪️ These are the 22nd and 88th Mechanized Brigades, along with the 80th Air Assault Brigade, which is considered "one of the most powerful, well-equipped, and mobile" brigades in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
▪️ They are advancing using a mix of Soviet and NATO equipment, including T-64BV or T-80BV tanks, UR-77 mine-clearing vehicles, IMR-2 engineering vehicles, BTR-80 armored personnel carriers, U.S. Stryker wheeled APCs, and German Marder infantry fighting vehicles. All vehicles are additionally armored with anti-drone nets.
▪️ Artillery, drones, and air defense systems are playing a critically important supporting role.
▪️ In total, up to 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers may be present in and around the invasion zone.
❗️ "There is a significant chance that the Ukrainian operation could backfire on its planners. If the Ukrainian brigades outrun their artillery, air defense, and logistics, they might find themselves isolated and defenseless deep inside the Kursk region. Kyiv is risking thousands of soldiers it may not be able to easily replace," writes Forbes.
