UK ARMY SEEKS TO OCCUPY LEBANON

The clauses of a proposed memorandum with Beirut include giving British troops immunity and authority to move around Lebanon armed and in uniform
Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar revealed on 21 November, citing diplomatic and military sources, that the UK wants to give its army access to Lebanese soil through a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Beirut.

“There is a draft being discussed at the official and military level for an MoU between the government of the United Kingdom, represented by its ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, and the Lebanese government, represented by the Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun,” multiple sources confirmed to the Lebanese outlet.

The MoU, reviewed by Al-Akhbar, discusses “support for the armed forces of the United Kingdom when they are deployed on Lebanese territory.”

The draft does not clarify the reasons or circumstances under which British forces would seek permission to deploy troops on Lebanese territory.

“The memorandum is full of many clauses that explicitly affect Lebanese sovereignty and give British forces privileges on Lebanese soil,” the Al-Akhbar report adds.

According to an official source cited by the newspaper, this proposed agreement has been in the works since before the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on 7 October in the Gaza envelope.

The MoU goes on to explain that the presence of the UK military in Lebanon would include “all military personnel with their ships, aircraft, machinery, stores, equipment, communications, ammunition, weapons and supplies, in addition to civilian members of the forces with air, sea and land resources and auxiliary personnel.”

No location of deployment or number of troops is specified in the document.

The agreement aims to “ensure that the entry of the British armed forces into Lebanese airspace or territorial waters is not obstructed, even if this military force does not obtain prior diplomatic licenses.”

It also aims to provide “the highest priority for armed forces aircraft and medical evacuation aircraft, including helicopters, and providing unrestricted access to Lebanese airspace to perform emergency missions.”

The clauses include granting British military personnel immunity from arrest or prosecution, adding that if any are detained, they must be immediately handed over to UK forces. Another is giving them authority to move around the country armed and in uniform.

“The memorandum guarantees that, in the event of a misinterpretation or non-compliance with the terms, Lebanon will not be able to resort to any international court or third party to resolve the dispute,” Al-Akhbar writes.

The report claims that the MoU is not subject to the 1969 Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties, which is meant to regulate international agreements between sovereign countries.

The Lebanese Army’s Directorate of Orientation refused to comment on the MoU.

However, sources close to Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, confirmed the existence of “a draft MoU on evacuations and possible humanitarian operations.”

“The United Kingdom is working in coordination with Lebanon on the basis of joint dialogue with the Lebanese army,” they said, adding that London is not working without Lebanese knowledge and approval.

“Discussions between the British Armed Forces and the Lebanese Army have been ongoing for a long time to coordinate joint activities, support possible evacuation work, and continue military training. What is happening is not unusual.”

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry claimed no knowledge of the draft agreement.

Sources familiar with the matter told Al-Akhbar that an army committee has been formed to discuss the MoU, and that the military “will not accept anything that affects Lebanese sovereignty.”

Other official sources said that any such agreement would have to be approved by the government, which has remained in a caretaker capacity for more than a year.

Al-Akhbar suggests that the UK may be trying “to pass an agreement that constitutes military guardianship over Lebanon.”

The report comes just days after the same outlet reported that several western military planes carrying heavy weapons have been landing at Beirut International Airport since the outbreak of the Gaza-Israel war last month.

The deliveries reportedly come in the wake of “requests sent by foreign countries to Lebanon to allow the entry of weapons and ammunition” into the country.

It was also reported in early November that UK forces have been undergoing training in Lebanon to prepare for potential “rescue missions” aimed at retrieving British citizens held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

At the time, UK Chief of General Staff Patrick Sanders told British MPs in the House of Commons defense committee that a British presence in Lebanon “provides an insight and influence on Lebanese decision-making and seeing things from the other side of the northern border, which clearly concerns Israel.”

In October, The Telegraph reported that the UK has been carrying out spy missions against Hezbollah from a British intelligence base in Cyprus.
“If a man does not keep pace with [fall into line with] his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” - Thoreau

Read the title of the thread.

    A war between two races.

This entire thread is race baiting, slanted against the west.

We don't understand this "race" thing you are fixed on.

I certainly don't. Some of the things you say when it sounds like you were thinking about it, come out fairly well, until suddenly there is this "race" issue that sounds like another person.

For example, "I" say the proximal cause of the current conflict is the near-rapprochement of Saudi Arabia to Israel, as we just saw pictures of. It's not an opinion of mine, it's a quote from multiple sources. Moreover, we find a complete pivot in Saudi diplomacy demanding the establishment of Palestine. Was the King quoting "me", no, probably not.

But it is really about something we can't identify, and this irritates you?

I could perhaps agree the entire thread is slanted against western hegemonic behavior. I think it may be. And I don't really have a second to invest in whether this stains someone's "whiteness".

We know there are those who disagree and favor Zionism, but, they do not really have any new information to bring to the table, to explain its superiority. We could perhaps say they ruined their own project ever since Irgun. That is, a type of "zionist concept" might have actually worked out as a *good idea* if it had been truly "normalized". It wasn't.

I, at least, am very interested in what non-Zionist Jews may have to say about the successful and unsuccessful parts of the Diaspora. I don't know what kind of statement could possibly garner sympathy for the political entity, Israel.

Ha, Shaberon, you can say volumes in a few words. Quoting you above: "I could perhaps agree the entire thread is slanted against western hegemonic behavior. I think it may be. And I don't really have a second to invest in whether this stains someone's "whiteness"." This made me chuckle no end.

Posting below a portion of a Sputnik article. At first glance it does not appear to have anything to do with Israel. However, this article discusses trade routes between Russia, Iran, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, without mentioning Israel a single time. In my opinion this means it has a lot to do with Israel... especially because of the timing, when Israel is threatening war against Iran, and Bibi Netanyahu recently presented at the UN his trade route 'map' which puts Israel at the centre, and which excluded Iran, and which in fact blackballed Iran.

Russian Prime Minister to Visit Iran, Hold Talks With Country's Leadership

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will pay an official visit to Iran on Monday, where he will hold talks with the republic's leadership — President Masoud Pezeshkian and First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref.

During the talks, the parties plan to discuss the entire range of Russian-Iranian cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas.

Particular attention will be paid to the implementation of major joint projects in transport, energy, industry, agriculture and other areas.

    ...

In a speech at a meeting of BRICS energy ministers, which was held as part of the Russian Energy Week, Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi said that the republic intended to develop trade and transit of electricity, and in this regard proposed to connect the energy networks of Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia through it. According to the minister, Tehran has long been studying this issue. (continued)

The tone has changed. These days I am seeing "settlements" come up as targets as much as the military installations. This is the new normal:

million Israeli settlers in Haifa went to shelters

    because:

Hezbollah’s Sheikh Qassem: ‘Israel’ has not been able to reach our military capabilities, Zionist claims in this regards are just a dream that will never come true

and, while they unload something like fifteen bunker busters to kill one person, that is, all their firepower, the reverse is nowhere near the case:

Hezbollah’s Sheikh Qassem: What we are doing now is the minimum as part of our plan to run the battle

We are looking at something that has barely started.

An important presentation by Alastair Crooke, talking to Judge Napolitano a few hours ago. I'd listened to several of Hassan Nasrallah's speeches soon after after 7 October last year, and was impressed with his balance while not calling for immediate Hezbollah military action.

While that was more or less all I knew about him, when I heard he was assassinated that struck me as a highly significant event. Others may take issue with my view here, and I'd understand them if they did, but I felt he was a good man.

Alastair Crooke confirms this. And I'd suggest that his own views, which are exceptionally well-informed, might be taken seriously and carefully. He compared Nasrallah to Gandhi, inasmuch as both were basically inspired men of deep faith, spiritual leaders as well as resistance leaders, holding a torch for all to defy the pervasive western hegemony. That was their prime function.

When it became known that he had been killed, men and women were weeping in the streets as far afield as Kashmir.

His replacement, who I believe is or will very soon be Hashem Safieddine, will almost certainly be more militant. Alastair Crooke also explains that Hezbollah's military capability has only been slightly dented, if that.

My own view on all this, relatively uninformed as it may be (compared with Judge Napolitano's highly informed guests!), is that sometime fairly soon — but probably not until next year — Israel be effectively be destroyed as a functioning major regional nation.

The video title is stark and also very apt.

I, at least, had been following him since Syria.

I never once saw anything that I considered even slightly misleading. He was an excellent spokesman, not some kind of lynchpin ideologue on which the Resistance depends. Israel has this fantasy about assassinating leaders, which is ineffective, if anything it makes the situation worse.

Again, comparatively, we have seen several high-level resignations pulling the plug from the Israeli Likud, which is to say, those leaders *are* important for constantly drubbing a hate message into the brains of a limited number of followers, which does not truly represent the country, meaning it is not a nation, is not a continuous culture, but just a collectivist state. The collected are not particularly happy with the results, and, overall, there remains no kind of positive outlook on picking up the "Greater Israel" plan that has been in the works--possibly, they might be able to keep a "Lesser Israel", and that will be the extent of it.

Bill, Shaberon. I remember Nasrallah many rears ago very impressively saying that a soldier piloting a cruise missile is not a real soldier – the one with a knife is.

Unfortunately I am not so hopeful as you are Bill – nor so unworried by “Israel's” military capabilities as you are Shaberon.

The minority of Israeli citizens who are not antisemites (most of them are, hating “brown Semites”) may have a window of opportunity, when the Israeli government happens to break down, for creating an opening towards the Arab world. But as the majority is antisemitic and psychotic they will use the “Samson” of “Matzada” option in the end, igniting their nuclear missiles. As we know that the Neocons will do that in Russia, or the future American presidents (all of them) allow “Israel” to do so similarly and maniacally why would there be any reason for the Israeli antisemites and "White-Race lovers” to hesitate?
