    If we are to believe all the 'insiders' and whistleblowers, America runs a Secret Space Program and has DARPA-tech that is at least 10 years ahead of anything on the market today, maybe they should ask their super sophisticated AI to come up with a solution.

    my hunch is that's why the B2s are flying. Kind of funny to fly a "stealth" bomber and then immediately tell everyone about it...

    I remember a month - literally - before Russia went into Ukraine (in this latest push) there were some little internet waves made when satellite photos of a strange looking plane sitting on the runway at Area 51 made the rounds. Can't help but think that bringing out more exotic toys looks like a reasonably desperate attempt to slake some of the momentum of what sure looks like a rapidly spiraling descent

    ...I have great trouble just understanding you because in my opinion you mix up various strands of reasoning, letting out logical bridges etc. Please try and write as clearly as you can so that even a person with moderate intelligence as I am can follow you. Thank you.

    It seems to me that we are talking two entirely different languages.

    You claim not to be well-versed in biology but you adduce reasonings on the basis of haplogroups (which I am not familiar with at all). So what is the weight of your argument?

    Two of the darkest black friends I have had were Italian.

    My argument is a set of physical markers on what you are calling "Nostratic", or, part of it.

    Objectivity appears to contradict many if not most traditions and scriptures. In turn, many or most of those may have been "doctored" for various reasons.

    Without going into detail about the haplogroups -- which in this case we are looking at maternal lineages -- the markers tell us a few things about Ancient North Asia:

    Iranians and Indians last shared a common ancestor in the Ice Age, 10,000 B. C, E., perhaps longer, the two separated. This means from a European source that was also the first Americans.

    The wave going to India likely includes "Dravidian" which also inhabits the area now called Pakistan. At some point, this line proceeds into Yemen and Ethiopia. We don't know exactly when, because only living people have been studied, not remains dated to any considerable antiquity. Are these the "Sabians"? Were they before or after? I don't think we can specifically answer that, yet, but it is pointing to the origin of "Arab" and/or "Semitic" as well as "Sabian". We can suggest we are talking about large settlements because we are following the movement of women, whereas, in those times, it of course would be a male who might venture out on his own and start a family in some new place.

    Finally, getting into the thick of "Nostratic" and/or "Indo-European", we find a select stream of people moving out of the "Corded Ware" part of Europe (roughly Poland) and establishing a site called Arkaim or Sintashta in Russia. In actuality it was more like Ural River Civilization, having over 20 sites that each housed 200-700 people, where every house had a copper crucible. From around 2,200 - 1,700 B. C. E., they bred horses, invented the spoked wheel, and the war chariot. You will find the "stuff" spread everywhere, but where are the people? India.

    There are no Sintashtans in Europe.

    It is to them, that many of the academics want to credit Indo-European and/or Sanskrit. I don't know. What we have is a time frame for certain artifacts, and the continuation of their genetics in India. You will find the "stuff" appears immediately in the middle east with the Mitanni at the beginning of the Iron Age. Right there you get the masters of chariot warfare, the Sintashtans and Mitanni. High tech.

    The best papers on genetic studies have heavily-annotated references into the other physical sciences, but, to an extent, they make linguistic references as well, which means they immediately draw from Witzel and Parpola. Mr. Parpola's scheme is that the Sintashtans simply went to Syria, and then picked up again and went to India, introducing Sanskrit. This is refuted on the basis of showing the much older trade route, and the lack of Sintashtan genetics elsewhere.

    Neither one of them wants an Indian or an Arab to be credited with a brain, do they? "It came from the Aryan Europeans" -- or whatever they have been going for. Well, yes, the oldest Haplogroup U samples are European, around Romania at about 45,000 years of age. But we are not talking about very many people, and impossible to say much more about it. Sintashta was perhaps the most industrious place known to man.

    I am not sure how much it regulates appearance or "body types", the haplogroup is just telling who your mother is. This particular one carries the riddles of Dravidian and Sanskrit, and, possibly, Semitic and Arabic. To be specific, the Khalas people of Pakistan are so purely Sintashtan that they are the equivalent of their own continent, and, they currently speak the most rudimentary Sanskrit; whereas the Sanskrit we know is mixed with Dravidian. Compare "chowmas" to "catur masa", which is easily recognizable in Latin languages. If you bear this reasoning out, it means the people who once occupied all South Citral could not have been there very long, because they are Sintashtan, moreover, what this means is what those "Russians" have cleverly done is to place themselves at the pass to the Lapis Lazuli mines that have been running everything since it started, until driven back by Ghaznids in the 1100s.

    So the Pamir Highway was colossal, and, informative to the background of early Israel. But this kind of thing is not evident in stories about Noah and so on.

    Quote In that same order of things. What many “biologists” and “archeologists” (and historical linguists!) seem to forget is what on other PA posting threads has been explained so well: the degree to which our history has been thoroughly shaken by natural catastrophes. The explosion of Thira in the second part of the 2nd millennium ended the probably Semitic or Caucasian/Kartvelian first Minoan civilisation on Creta and replaced it with a Greek civilisation. It may have caused the demise of other Caucasian civilisations as well, replacing them with Indo-European and Semitic linguistic cultures.

    Another type of thing that can be reasonably approximately dated like a volcano is a supernova. There aren't really any verifiable expressions of novae until about the year 1,000. Although there were several within the time frame from cuneiform tablets.

    Is there any kind of period-appropriate remark that mentions Thera?

    It definitely was important; does it have any human story?

    Maybe it did, and you only say "the Minoans got blown to smithereens" for two hundred years and then you kind of put it down.

    They were connected to maritime trade, in multiple directions I believe, so they would have been missed.

    These probably were not important due to not happening:

    Quote The disruption of Indo-European civilisation was probably caused by the Black Sea catastrophe, the one of Nostratic by the Greenland catastrophe. Irrespective of haplogroups, genetics, material cultures (which are increasingly recognised as chaotic, complex etc.). As I explained elsewhere, Greek, Aramaic, later Latin became lingua francas and then the vehicles of civilisation, whatever the genetics, haplogroups or skin colour.

    Disruptions of what civilizations when?

    The second has a human story, from a figment of Ignatius Donnelly.

    Those hypotheses have too much against them to be desirable as explanations.

    Quote It is when the yardstick of historical linguistics is put to it that it can be shown that “Ancient Hebrew” and “Phoenician” and “Canaanite” are virtually indistinguishable – and that the memes of a "Holy Land” and a “chosen people” are “history fiction”.

    Might this be similar to the thousands of texts from Ugarit which existed ca. 6,000 - 1,190 B. C. E.?

    By the Late Bronze age Ugarit had a thriving dual-scribal system. Primarily it used the East Semitic Akkadian language which acted as the lingua franca throughout the region for diplomacy, business, and administrative purposes. In parallel, there was scribal activity in the local Northwest Semitic Ugaritic language.

    The impression I get is that everything was "fine" on an intellectual basis, that is to say, most pagan deities were understood as local variations of the same thing. It lacked contentiousness. No one would care if the Phoenicians and Egyptians had different names for the Sea God. Violence happened for more mundane reasons. It is not known what happened to Ugarit, but is speculated to have been destroyed by the "Sea Peoiple" who attacked Egypt.

    I'm not trying to suggest these were always completely peaceful times. Just that the appearance of "Yhwh" to rebuke "Baal" is radically rebellious to the entire fabric on a mental basis.

    Quote The horror of the “let’s butcher the Amalekites” clearly proves this “ex absurdo”.

    This being based from a post-Captivity redaction. It has nothing to do with hymns from the temple of Jerusalem. It does not bear out to be historically meaningful, like Exodus. The closest thing to that which can be found is that the people were already in place.

    My agnosticism has little effect on the fray, unfortunately.

    The map I posted is notably missing Eilat. That of course would have been the port for King Solomon, who likes the Queen of Sabians. And then it has short overland links to Gaza and Tyre. There's a heightened fusion of east and west. I like this part. I think it is pretty impressive the scale of things we can find going in to this era. Of the subsequent Judea, I don't know anything special to say about it on the spur of the moment.

    What is funny is the wrong question gets asked...Freemasonic ritual has nothing to do with King Solomon. Masonry, of course, does. It's not a ritual, it's a spiritual allegory, building the Temple of Solomon. It's not Jewish or Christian, it's historical. And it's not...looking much like itself these days, considering what seemed to be intact at the time. Now you can easily identify the real temple as moral fiber made of wisdom through pain. That will easily prove that any Third Temple built by man's hands is fake.

    Here's a bit of Hebrew translated in Lebanon:

    Quote Israeli Channel 12 quoted an Israeli settler who resides in Caesarea as saying: “We heard helicopters above us and there was a feeling that there was some sort of incident but there were no sirens so we were not too worried.”

    “But then suddenly a large explosion was heard and it was not clear to us if it was from an interception or a drone impact — but it was clear that it was a real incident with no prior warning,” the settler added as he described the attack as “very worrying.”

    Mention has also been made of Israeli civilian casualties. This has perhaps become inevitable as a result of intensified strikes on sites that are not very far from people. Something real, with no prior warning, may become a common experience.

    Israel Preps for Strike on Iran, Top Secret Leak Reveals
    Read the U.S. intelligence reports the media won’t publish

    By: Ken Klippenstein
    Date: October 19, 2024
    Source: https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/is...ke-on-iran-top

    Asked if he knew what Israel would do to Iran and when, President Biden’s response on Friday was terse: “Yes and yes.”

    Yes because Netanyahu told him in the strictest of confidences. Yes because the United States has a high-level spy in Israel’s ranks. Yes because the U.S. picked up a crucial telephone conversation or intercepted the order as it was transmitted via email. Yes because of all of these reasons and more.

    The United States aggressively spies on Israel, because as Ronald Reagan once said: “Trust but verify.”

    The extent of that spying is revealed in a pair of highly classified U.S. intelligence reports I have published below. They first circulated on social media this week and they provide extraordinary insight into how closely the U.S. is monitoring Israel amid a particularly fraught moment.

    With the recent deaths of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iran’s retaliatory strike, and then with the death of Hamas architect of October 7, Yahya Sinwar, Israel has pledged that it will again attack Iran. It is evidently planning something big.

    Two Top Secret documents outlining Israel’s preparations for a large-scale attack on Iran – which would be Israel’s largest, and here’s what’s most interesting: the mainstream media is silent. Colleagues at some of the biggest media outlets, from The New York Times to NBC, tell me that their outlets are aware of the documents. But it’s been days and no one in the sanctioned elite press is reporting on them (Axios only just reported their existence but declined to publish the documents themselves). As with the J.D. Vance Dossier, which the entire media knew about but refused to publish, it appears the media has once again lost its nerve – and its sense of what’s news.

    The mainstream media has generally decided that it won’t publish classified material, in effect deputizing themselves as enforcers of the national security state’s secrecy regime. They did this last year with highly classified Ukraine documents they refused to publish (which my editor published at Newsweek).

    To put it bluntly, major media are petrified of running afoul of the national security state. And not without reason. My decision to publish the Vance Dossier got me a visit from the FBI, thrown off X (Twitter) and links to the story were blocked on the platform along with Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and even Google Docs. Let’s see if that happens again here.

    Despite all the happy talk from Washington about the U.S.’s “ironclad” relationship with Israel, the U.S. spies on them just like any other country, as we recently reported. The two top secret U.S. intelligence reports illustrate this dynamic beautifully. Both were produced on October 16, by the Pentagon’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which is responsible for the preparation of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) and of authoritative (and often classified) maps.

    The first intelligence report is titled, “Israel: Defense Forces Continue Key Munitions Preparations and Covert UAV Activity Almost Certainly for a Strike on Iran.” The Top Secret document provides a sense of not just how much the intelligence community knows, but how much it doesn’t know. “We cannot definitively predict the scale and scope of a strike on Iran, and such a strike can occur with no further GEOINT warning,” the report states. In English, that means that based upon scrutiny of satellite, aircraft, and drone imagery, NGA doesn’t necessarily have the tools (by itself) to provide what they call “actionable” intelligence, to warn of an Israeli strike. It is raw reporting that has to be combined with that of other agencies – NSA, CIA, DIA, and on and on – for a full picture.

    The lack of certainty is not a defect of the intelligence; it speaks to how complex intelligence work actually is and the vast $100 plus billion a year effort. Contrary to the popular imagination of a deep throat-like source delivering the truth in a shadowy garage, intelligence work involves drawing together information from all kinds of different sources to create a mosaic-like picture of what’s going on.

    The intelligence report includes a rundown of the various aspects of Israeli military activities that the U.S. is monitoring to inform its judgments and conclusions: weapons handling, air defense, ground forces, Navy, Air, Special Forces, and even Israel’s Nuclear Forces. But even then, only the weapons handling and special forces categories are identified as having a “medium” predictive ability in regards to determining Israel’s action; the rest are designated “low” predictive ability.

    The second intelligence report is titled “Israel: Air Force Continues Preparations for Strike on Iran and Conducts a Second Large-Force Employment Exercise.” The document details Israeli activities during an evident “mission rehearsal” (in U.S. lingo) that could be indicative of how Israel will strike Iran. Citing imagery analysis and other sources, the NGA report notes that the Israeli Air Force is already conducting covert drone operations over Iran (evidently doing its own spying), and how, as part of Israeli Air Force activity, has been handling air-launched ballistic missiles and other weapons.

    This is what intelligence is. It is clerical, it is a mosaic, it is complex. Jason Bourne it is not. It also provides insight of enormous public interest as we stand at the precipice of a broader conflict. It is information that directly bears upon U.S. obligations and actions. It is for that reason that I’ve decided to publish the basic documents. You can read through them below and decide for yourself what you think.

    (I sent both documents to the Pentagon yesterday for comment, but neither the Office of the Secretary of Defense nor U.S. Central Command responded.) Sources tell me that they are authentic.

    Copying from Bill's post here on the Fr. Oliviera prophecy thread as it's most certainly a sobering reminder
    Quote Posted by Bill Ryan (here)
    Copying the first part of Houman's post on his thread, specifically about an important recent prophecy from Father Oliveira.

    I've not listened to this yet, but it seems clear that regarding the period of tribulation that he predicted would begin "in October of this year", he was referring to October 2023.

    As we all know, that's when Israeli military forces (instructed by the Israeli War Cabinet) began the psychopathic bloodthirsty rampage which has far from ended, and which might yet bring on something even worse.

    ~~~
    Lucas Gelásio Presents Latest Prophetic News From Brazilian Priest Fr. Oliveira!
    Famous Brazilian Mariologist joins us to breakdown the latest prophecies and news from mystic priest Fr Oliveira of Brazil. Fr. Oliveira's last public prophecy was the following:
    Message of Our Lady to Padre “Oliveira” on June 17, 2023:
    Beloved son, listen carefully: In October of this year, a period of great tribulation will begin, which I predicted when I was in France, Portugal and Spain. [1] On these three occasions, I spoke about the cause of these tribulations.
    =====
    Fr. “Oliveira” – Great Tribulations Beginning in October?
    Fr. “Oliveira” of Rio Grande do Sul in Southern Brazil has allegedly been receiving messages and visions from God for several years. Oliveira is not his real name; he chooses to remain anonymous. His fame seemed to spread into the English world after a March 12, 2020 vision of the death of Benedict XIV, to take place in 2022, came to pass. Benedict died on December 31, 2022.
    Newer alleged messages of Fr. Oliveira are very detailed and likewise propose timelines, and so we urge readers to continue to exercise caution and proper discernment (see Prophecy in Perspective), given the sometimes conditional nature of prophecy and, of course, the question of validity that remains open. A 24-page Portuguese-language (PDF) document including details of Fr. “Oliveira”‘s alleged messages and visions between 2003 and 2022 is available on the internet and seems not to contain any obvious theological errors or clearly failed prophecies. His official spokesperson responsible for diffusing his messages is the Brazilian Lucas Gelasio, who has said that Fr. Oliveira’s locutions will very soon come to an end and that he will be assigned to a new mission.
    Since Fr. Oliveira remains anonymous, we are unable to offer any further information on whether there is accompanying mystical phenomena, such as the stigmata, ecstasies, etc. which although not definitive in proving the authenticity of alleged messages, can aid in their overall discernment.
    Message of Our Lady to Padre “Oliveira” on June 17, 2023:
    Beloved son, listen carefully: In October of this year, a period of great tribulation will begin, which I predicted when I was in France, Portugal and Spain. [1] On these three occasions, I spoke about the cause of these tribulations.
    (PASSAGE OMITTED)
    Be prepared, above all spiritually, because this period will not come with a bang, but will be gradual and will spread slowly throughout the world. The war that has started will increase, as you have already seen. [2] There will be droughts, great storms and earthquakes in many places of the world. But as my Divine Son said, when you hear these rumors [3], do not be afraid! Always use the Miraculous Medal from today on, and distribute the medal to your flock as well. Sickness will not be the only evil that will spread; spiritual evil will be worse. Sickness will however be a great scourge. Put the medal of Saint Benedict on the door, and do not forget to use the scapular. Bless candles, oil, and water. Have no more doubts about the Oil of the Good Samaritan: [4] bless it and use it. Seek to remain in a state of grace, because the demons have set upon humanity with strong temptations, especially against priests. Pray for them and pray for yourself too, as you are a priest. Always remember who you are! Pray also for your bishop and for all bishops. Pray much for the Holy Father: make fasts and sacrifices for him. I, your Mother and Queen, will be with all those who entrust themselves to my care, and I will not leave any of my children helpless. As I have promised many times, this time is part of what I said in my Third Secret in Portugal.
    (PASSAGE OMITTED).
    On October 13, I will give you a sign as you asked me to do; that is why I have shown you this date. [5] I have received from God the mission to guard, together with the holy angels that the Lord has placed at my service, all those who have entrusted their lives to me. There will be great devastation from Russia, instigated by the infernal Dragon. This will harm the whole world. But do not fear. This is the opportune time for holiness. Remember that the great saints rose up in times of great darkness. Times of tribulation, especially this one, should not be faced with fear and cowardice, but with love and courage. You see, my son, this is why I have called you in this hour, so that you would remember and proclaim that the opportune time for holiness is now, today — not tomorrow, but now.
    Eucharistic adoration should be your anchor, and the Holy Rosary the chain of that anchor. Eucharistic adoration, acts of reparation and sacrifices, united with the Holy Rosary, can change all prophecies! Do not forget this: Adoration and the Holy Rosary. Do penance, offer sacrifices for the salvation of souls, for the conversion of sinners and the sanctification of the clergy. Remember that the Lord knows everything and is in command of everything. Soon there will come the Triumph of my Immaculate Heart! Remain faithful in this time of purification; trust in the help of your Guardian Angel. The time for the saints is now. Pray, dear son, pray and watch, as I have called you today — pray and watch.
    Finally, Our Lady gave us the passage from Ecclesiasticus (Sirach) 18:7-14 on which to meditate:
    When mortals finish, they are only beginning, and when they stop they are still bewildered. What are mortals? What are they worth? What is good in them, and what is evil? The number of their days seems great if it reaches a hundred years. Like a drop of water from the sea and a grain of sand, so are these few years among the days of eternity. That is why the Lord is patient with them and pours out his mercy on them. He sees and understands that their death is wretched, and so he forgives them all the more. Their compassion is for their neighbor, but the Lord’s compassion reaches all flesh, reproving, admonishing, teaching, and turning them back, as a shepherd his flock. He has compassion on those who accept His discipline, who are eager for His precepts.
    Shaberon. I want to thank you for this.
    You discover those treasures. You are a determined and effective sleuth. My appreciation and admiration.
    Picture and plan are very moving for me, bleeding my heart. I was there in 74, a backpacker half naked in the sun, barefoot on the flanks of Mt Carmel (as one should because this mountain concentrates/symbolises enormous spiritual energy --- that is why it has been attacked by those who were/are hell-bent on firmly implanting there works of evil), navigating among animal carcasses and meeting a “Druze Youth”, whose apparition inspired "Karmel”, a centerpiece in a long poem I have been writing my entire adult life. (Those who have a grasp of Dutch can find it here.. I do not mean to “show off” with this, poetry is not so important, the energy it gives maker and reader is – but its mention attests what kindles the fire behind my commitment around this theme.)
    Thank you.
    Thank you for this, Rizotto. I would have preferred to hear Mate, though – there was an inauthentic ring to his interviewer’s statements. (It took me some time before I understood that he said “boycott”: he kept pronouncing it as “boy-cut”, which was a strange, a doubly strange, “return of the suppressed” (to quote Freud) if I may say so..)..
    But the real lesson is in the change of tone one can hear in the “Rabbi”’s ”speech”: the shortening of word durations, the hatchet-like or machine-gun-like shooting of word intensities into the faces of the “boy-cut” audience... It is the kind of transformation of German one can hear when Joseph Goebbels speeches (oddly, less in Hitler’s speeching style, who preserved an "operatic”, almost singing quality).. This shortening and missile-shouting of words is the return of the suppressed with a vengeance: “how do I lie and how do I force my listener to lie with me?” The pun is intended, because it is a form of rape camouflaged as lovemaking: an attempt at capturing receptivity to good and turning it around into a weapon for evil. It is psychotic in itself, but goes beyond it, uses psychosis demonically to “psychoticise” the audience. This is, because the audience is massed there, a good example of creating mass psychosis.
    May we keep praying that we not be led into that kind of temptation..
    “I’ve been a writer for a long time,” Abulhawa wrote in a message to Novara Media. “Of course I anticipated they’d reject my piece. … They don’t publish us [Palestinians] unless we accept watered-down versions of what we say so they can pretend to have a semblance of journalistic integrity while they push state and corporate propaganda.”
    Yes, The Guardian newspaper/Intelligence Service pamphlet does do this cringeworthy grovelling for money claiming 'fearless journalism' which, frankly, is as preposterous a statement you'll read anywhere. Still, as it isn't paywalled - yet - it's a useful yardstick by which we can measure our enemies' motives, intent, and similarly godawful PR.
    This is quite the story and won't come as much of a surprise to anyone who has been interested in, and become knowledgeable about how the media manipulates: old hat really here on the forum, but, here comes another humdinger:
    Discontent Deepens Among Guardian Staff Over Palestine ‘Double Standard’
    by Rivkah Brown
    18 October 2024
    Publisher/source: NovaraMedia
    Susan Abulhawa saw the censor’s hand before it even touched her piece. “As the Guardian doesn’t typically publish people like me,” she cautioned her editor at the paper, “I want to be sure the edits don’t ‘dilute’ the piece to make it more palatable for their readers. We know a very different Israel than the one presented by the media for decades, and the tendency is to ‘soften’ Palestinian voices.”
    “I absolutely understand and I am going to do my best to protect and fight for your piece,” the series editor V (formerly known as Eve Ensler) assured Abulhawa, adding: “I have the profoundest respect for you and your writing.”
    It would be hard not to: Abulhawa’s debut novel Mornings in Jenin has sold over 1m copies in 32 languages since it was published in 2006, making her by some counts the most widely read Palestinian author in history.
    Yet by the following month, the Guardian had stopped responding to Abulhawa’s emails.
    In July, Guardian US invited Abulhawa to contribute to “rise against fascism”, a series of opinion pieces about the global far right due to be published in September. Abulhawa agreed and submitted a short piece about Israel’s genocide in Gaza, based in part on her own experience: she visited the strip twice this year.
    After several rounds of increasingly fraught back-and-forth, the paper and Abulhawa parted ways. The disagreement had centred on Abulhawa’s insistence on using the term “holocaust” to describe Israel’s actions in Gaza. “Israel is committing the holocaust of our time,” Abulhawa wrote in a draft, published today by Novara Media, “and it is doing it in full view of a seemingly indifferent world.” Unable to find an alternative wording that both parties would accept, the Guardian refused the piece.
    “Please pass on my deepest **** you to Betsy [Reed, editor-in-chief of Guardian US] and her racist core,” Abulhawa wrote in her final email. Yet it wasn’t Reed who had ultimately spiked the piece: Katharine Viner, the Guardian’s global editor-in-chief, had intervened at the eleventh hour.
    Six Guardian journalists who spoke to Novara Media said they understood why Viner had resisted Abulhawa’s use of the term “holocaust”; doing so would have kicked off a media storm. What they don’t understand is why Viner seems happy to repeatedly weather such storms for advocates of Israel. This, they suggest, points to a pattern of deference towards the paper’s pro-Israel critics, one that has shifted only slightly as Israel’s assault on Gaza has intensified.
    “Is the Guardian more worried about the reaction to what is said about Israel than Palestine? Absolutely,” said one long-serving staff member.
    The Guardian did not respond to Novara Media’s request for comment.
    Rationalising infanticide
    After 7 October, staff say that the Guardian’s editor-in-chief has maintained a vice-like grip over the paper’s output on Israel and Palestine – or at least one side of it. Some desks say that in the initial weeks and months following the Hamas attack, every piece on the subject was sent to Viner for approval, delaying and sometimes halting publication.
    “Everything is scrutinised,” said one senior staff member. “You’re under such an amount of suffocating control, it’s like throwing sand in the gears [to] deliberately… frustrate the smooth running [of the paper].”
    In two cases, Viner overruled section editors to withdraw pieces by Palestinian contributors, Abulhawa and Dylan Saba. Both were commissioned by the Guardian US, whose distance from the paper’s London headquarters has emboldened it to push left on certain issues where the UK edition tends right (notably gender, though also Palestine).
    Viner’s censoring instinct has been perhaps clearest in her treatment of Owen Jones: Viner is widely understood to have banned the longstanding Guardian columnist from writing about Palestine between late November and mid-January, during some of the most intense months of Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
    One senior staffer pointed out that Viner’s control is not exercised consistently, however – “only if you’re publishing something critical of Israel.”
    The Guardian publishes few if any pieces explicitly defending Israel’s actions in Gaza. Instead, contributors will often claim that criticism of Israel is cover for the “new antisemitism” – or “alibi antisemitism”, as Dave Rich, author of The Left’s Jewish Problem: Jeremy Corbyn, Israel and Anti-Semitism, described it in a recent Guardian op-ed.
    “It’s a perverse landscape right now, where it’s not… that you’re pro-Palestine or pro-Israel,” said one senior staffer. “You’re pro-Palestine or you’re anti-antisemitism.” Howard Jacobson’s piece fell into the latter category.
    On 6 October, the day before the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel’s Gaza borderlands, the Observer published a piece by the acclaimed British Jewish author (the Observer shares an owner with the Guardian, though in mid-September it emerged that Guardian Media Group was in talks with media startup Tortoise Media to sell the Sunday paper; the paper has its own editor-in-chief, though in reality Viner has final say in what is published in both papers). The piece argued that the media’s attempts to draw attention to Israel’s mass killing of Palestinian children – 16,756 have been recorded killed in Israeli attacks since 7 October, though scholarly estimates are far higher – are reviving the antisemitic blood libel that Jews ritually sacrifice children.
    “Here we were again, the same merciless infanticides inscribed in the imaginations of medieval Christians,” Jacobson wrote. “Only this time, instead of operating on the midnight streets of Lincoln and Norwich, they target Palestinian schools, the paediatric wards of hospitals, the tiny fragile bodies of children themselves.”
    “There has been a massive backlash to it internally,” said one senior Guardian staff member. “People are disgusted and horrified and just dismayed and embarrassed that that was published.” One long-serving Guardian staffer said it was “amazing” that the Observer would publish the piece, which they described as “abominable”. Several Guardian staff and contributors complained about the piece to Observer editor Paul Webster; they received pro forma responses or in some cases, none at all.
    The piece attracted widespread scrutiny outside of the Guardian, prompting The New Yorker to run a coruscating interview with Jacobson entitled “Rationalising the horrors of Israel’s war in Gaza”. “Howard, I think maybe we’re in a bit of a worrisome place if you see photos of dead children on television and your first thought is, They’re trying to make me, a Jew, hate my people,” the magazine’s sharp-tongued interviewer Isaac Chotiner challenged Jacobson. The Observer has since published a response to Jacobson by a Jewish contributor, as well as several letters.
    One long-serving Guardian journalist suggested the reason the Observer ran the piece is that Jacobson is “supposed to be one of the great writers” and a “staple of the paper”. Jacobson has written for the Observer since at least 2000; between 2017 and 2018 it published a weekly diary by him.
    Yet while Jacobson’s piece sailed smoothly to publication, another “great writer” was struggling to pass the Guardian’s rigorous – or partially rigorous – editorial process.
    'Please leave this word'
    On 13 September, six weeks after she’d filed her piece, Abulhawa received an email from the Guardian with a final round of edits. She accepted almost all of them besides the suggestion to change the word “holocaust” to “genocide”. Abulhawa was confused, since the term hadn’t been picked up in previous rounds of editing.
    “Please leave this word,” Abulhawa said in a comment. “It is not the property of any group. It is a word in the English language that is not exclusive to anyone.”
    The Guardian pushed back. “We favor substituting ‘genocide’ for ‘holocaust’ there, which is still strong and does not blunt the impact of Susan’s piece,” Guardian US editor Betsy Reed wrote to Abulhawa’s editor, V. Novara Media understand that Reed’s email was sent after consultation with Viner.
    V forwarded Reed’s email to Abulhawa, who replied with a five-point explanation of why the term holocaust was appropriate. “Given the magnitude, the unceasing horror, the hateful glee and sadism at our suffering,” Abulhawa wrote, “the only word I have at my disposal that comes close to capturing what’s happening is ‘holocaust’.”
    “I understand Susan’s reasoning,” Reed replied, “but I wonder if we could find a solution that captures the meaning she wants without invoking the holocaust in that way.”
    Abulhawa refused. “I’ve compromised a lot, but I’m not bending further. We’re watching faceless, headless, limbless, burned, crushed, and mangled bodies in inconceivable gore every day, over and over. … I am not going to play this western media game of tiptoeing around the feelings of our tormentors. Nazis were not so cruel.
    “Holocaust is an English word in the English dictionary. It is frankly not big enough to capture the annihilation, torment, degradation, and horror being inflicted on Palestinians for decades now.
    “I really don’t care if they run my piece or not.”
    Abulhawa sent a further email shortly afterwards: “I’m sick of this hypocrisy. they cannot fathom our humanity. That’s the issue. They do not see us as human. If our people in Gaza were Jewish, or other Europeans, no one would hesitate to use that word and worse.”
    After receiving no reply from V for over a week, Abulhawa inquired about the status of her piece. V confirmed that the Guardian had declined to run it: “They don’t seem to be budging on the last edits. The world is a horror. Thank you for your courage and voice,” V wrote.
    In an email to Novara Media, V wrote: “I commissioned Susan because I believe she is a really important voice on Gaza and Palestine. I believe she wrote an excellent piece; the Guardian, of course, makes the ultimate decisions.”
    Abulhawa would not be appeased. “Please pass on my deepest **** you to Betsy and her racist core,” she replied. The Guardian’s rise against fascism series was published in early September, including 15 pieces on subjects including India, Italy, the climate crisis and human psychology. None were on Israel and Palestine.
    In a message to Novara Media, Abulhawa explained why she’d expressed her anger at Guardian editors. “I think Betsy reserves th[e] word [“holocaust”] for one people only. … In [the] western imagination, there is nothing more horrific than the mass slaughter of their own western citizens. Brown people don’t count.”
    Several genocide scholars who spoke to Novara Media said they were comfortable with Abulhawa’s use of the term holocaust to describe events in Gaza.
    “I accept [the word holocaust] is not the property of any group,” Mark Levene, an emeritus fellow at the University of Southampton whose research focuses on genocide and Jewish history, told Novara Media. “Who am I or who is anybody to deny her?”
    “She’s [using the term] for the purpose of making a point, and she has … the perfect right to make the point, even if one might demur on whether [she is correct].”
    John Cox, director of Holocaust, genocide and human rights studies at the University of North Carolina, concurred. “I think it’s acceptable to use holocaust to refer to other genocides,” he wrote in an email to Novara Media, “though I do it very sparingly, given the possibility of being misunderstood. But I support Abulhawa’s decision and right to use the term, and I fully agree with the quote from her that you provided.”
    Abulhawa had used the term holocaust to describe what she saw in Gaza on several occasions prior to her Guardian piece, including in a video for the leftwing US broadcaster Democracy Now!, an article for pro-Palestine outlet The Electronic Intifada and on her social media channels. But for the Guardian, even “genocide” was a stretch.
    Levene had discovered this himself when he submitted a letter to the Guardian on 11 October, four days after the Hamas attack, saying that “Israel is on the cusp of committing genocide in Gaza”; the letter was rejected. It would be several months before the term genocide crept into the paper following the International Court of Justice’s interim judgement in January that said Palestinians had the plausible right to be protected from genocide; it is still understood to be impermissible in the UK edition except with careful explication. The Guardian files coverage of the genocide under a section previously entitled “Israel-Hamas war”, now “Israel-Gaza war”.
    Not to bump myself up as a person – but it is exactly such consideration which has led me to consistently use the term "Zionist Antisemite Colony” for Israel.
    The concept of “antisemitism” has been perfidiously shifted by Zionist and Zionism-loving characters to mean “anti-Jewish” (and lately even “anti-Zionist”) – which is not only perfidious but also nonsense. The concept of anti-Jewishness is best represented by the word “anti-Jewish”. It then follows automatically that “anti-Jewishness” or “anti-Judaism” denotes actions, thoughts etc. that oppose the Jewish religion. All measures that target non-Zionist Jews (and hence, which follows logically, the Zionist actions and thoughts that target non-Zionist Jews) are anti-Jewish. Zionism is profoundly anti-Jewish. Many Jews – pious Jews – say that.
    However, because (1) Zionism has created this new category of non-human humans they call “Amelekites”, and those “Amelekites” are Arabs, and (2) Arabs are Semites in the sense that Arabic, the language of the Arabs, is a Semitic language, it follows that “anti-amalekite” Zionism is antisemitic.
    Zionism is then doubly antisemitic: by targeting non-Zionistic Semitic Jews and by targeting Semitic Arabs.
    Using those words in such a way creates great clarity.
    The classical antisemites in the countries of the West who were and are called that way because they were/are anti-Jewish are then brought home as well to the real meaning of that descriptive. Indeed they are antisemitic because they hate the pious non-Zionist Jews in their “funny clothes” AND they are antisemitic because they hate all things Arabic with strong determination.
    At last!! Someone cracks open a bottle of Clarity
    Those clearly articulated definitions ought to be clear to everyone: alas, not. Even some dear members here seem to struggle with it. Just as the true anti-Semites (The Zionists) would wish, by design: confuse, conflate. We have Moritz Steinschneider to blame for this, amongst others.
    From the Torah Judaism folks on X, and they know:
    Rabbi Chaim Brisker, one of the greatest rabbis a century ago, once said: “There have been many heretical groups in Jewish history, but Zionism is the worst. The Torah teaches Jews to be a moderate and peaceful people in the world. Zionism, on the other hand, tries to achieve its goals by distorting Judaism, oppressing people, usurping lands belonging to others, and doing every abomination prohibited by the Torah. The principles taught by Zionism are to steal, kill, usurp lands and exile people. Zionism is contrary to all the fundamental principles of Judaism".
    So, a well intended question to anyone viewing this, anywhere: d.o y.o.u g.e.t i.t n.o.w?
    This is 4th grade level understanding here.
    Footnote: it has also been suggested that the very term antisemitism is in itself a logical oxymoron, which it may be difficult - or even a waste of time - to attempt to refute entirely. I quite like it. And it makes good sense.
    This from a modern-day Druid, Dr. Thomas Clough Daffern (which I have shared on the forum before), page 18:
    "To Druid thinkers, whether of ancient times, or modern times, the whole notion of anti-Semitism would have been a logical oxymoron: the Semite is etymologically the one who listens, the people who hear – and Phoenicians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Phoenicians, Hebrews and Arabs were all from this conglomeration of tribal peoples. Their complex ancient mythological stories, partly inherited from their mysterious Sumerian cultural progenitors, in many ways echo the complex pantheons and legends of the Celts and their Druids. Future transpersonal historians will probably discover that Indo-European languages, with all their mythological complexities, and Semitic languages and their own mythological pantheons, are all interconnected and can be jointly traced back to far more ancient Asian, European, Egyptian and African common ancestries."
    Israel Preps for Strike on Iran, Top Secret Leak Reveals
    Read the U.S. intelligence reports the media won’t publish
    By: Ken Klippenstein
    Date: October 19, 2024
    Source: https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/is...ke-on-iran-top
    Asked if he knew what Israel would do to Iran and when, President Biden’s response on Friday was terse: “Yes and yes.”
    Yes because Netanyahu told him in the strictest of confidences. Yes because the United States has a high-level spy in Israel’s ranks. Yes because the U.S. picked up a crucial telephone conversation or intercepted the order as it was transmitted via email. Yes because of all of these reasons and more.
    The United States aggressively spies on Israel, because as Ronald Reagan once said: “Trust but verify.”
    The extent of that spying is revealed in a pair of highly classified U.S. intelligence reports I have published below. They first circulated on social media this week and they provide extraordinary insight into how closely the U.S. is monitoring Israel amid a particularly fraught moment.
    With the recent deaths of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iran’s retaliatory strike, and then with the death of Hamas architect of October 7, Yahya Sinwar, Israel has pledged that it will again attack Iran. It is evidently planning something big.
    Two Top Secret documents outlining Israel’s preparations for a large-scale attack on Iran – which would be Israel’s largest, and here’s what’s most interesting: the mainstream media is silent. Colleagues at some of the biggest media outlets, from The New York Times to NBC, tell me that their outlets are aware of the documents. But it’s been days and no one in the sanctioned elite press is reporting on them (Axios only just reported their existence but declined to publish the documents themselves). As with the J.D. Vance Dossier, which the entire media knew about but refused to publish, it appears the media has once again lost its nerve – and its sense of what’s news.
    The mainstream media has generally decided that it won’t publish classified material, in effect deputizing themselves as enforcers of the national security state’s secrecy regime. They did this last year with highly classified Ukraine documents they refused to publish (which my editor published at Newsweek).
    To put it bluntly, major media are petrified of running afoul of the national security state. And not without reason. My decision to publish the Vance Dossier got me a visit from the FBI, thrown off X (Twitter) and links to the story were blocked on the platform along with Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and even Google Docs. Let’s see if that happens again here.
    Despite all the happy talk from Washington about the U.S.’s “ironclad” relationship with Israel, the U.S. spies on them just like any other country, as we recently reported. The two top secret U.S. intelligence reports illustrate this dynamic beautifully. Both were produced on October 16, by the Pentagon’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which is responsible for the preparation of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) and of authoritative (and often classified) maps.
    The first intelligence report is titled, “Israel: Defense Forces Continue Key Munitions Preparations and Covert UAV Activity Almost Certainly for a Strike on Iran.” The Top Secret document provides a sense of not just how much the intelligence community knows, but how much it doesn’t know. “We cannot definitively predict the scale and scope of a strike on Iran, and such a strike can occur with no further GEOINT warning,” the report states. In English, that means that based upon scrutiny of satellite, aircraft, and drone imagery, NGA doesn’t necessarily have the tools (by itself) to provide what they call “actionable” intelligence, to warn of an Israeli strike. It is raw reporting that has to be combined with that of other agencies – NSA, CIA, DIA, and on and on – for a full picture.
    The lack of certainty is not a defect of the intelligence; it speaks to how complex intelligence work actually is and the vast $100 plus billion a year effort. Contrary to the popular imagination of a deep throat-like source delivering the truth in a shadowy garage, intelligence work involves drawing together information from all kinds of different sources to create a mosaic-like picture of what’s going on.
    The intelligence report includes a rundown of the various aspects of Israeli military activities that the U.S. is monitoring to inform its judgments and conclusions: weapons handling, air defense, ground forces, Navy, Air, Special Forces, and even Israel’s Nuclear Forces. But even then, only the weapons handling and special forces categories are identified as having a “medium” predictive ability in regards to determining Israel’s action; the rest are designated “low” predictive ability.
    The second intelligence report is titled “Israel: Air Force Continues Preparations for Strike on Iran and Conducts a Second Large-Force Employment Exercise.” The document details Israeli activities during an evident “mission rehearsal” (in U.S. lingo) that could be indicative of how Israel will strike Iran. Citing imagery analysis and other sources, the NGA report notes that the Israeli Air Force is already conducting covert drone operations over Iran (evidently doing its own spying), and how, as part of Israeli Air Force activity, has been handling air-launched ballistic missiles and other weapons.
    This is what intelligence is. It is clerical, it is a mosaic, it is complex. Jason Bourne it is not. It also provides insight of enormous public interest as we stand at the precipice of a broader conflict. It is information that directly bears upon U.S. obligations and actions. It is for that reason that I’ve decided to publish the basic documents. You can read through them below and decide for yourself what you think.
    (I sent both documents to the Pentagon yesterday for comment, but neither the Office of the Secretary of Defense nor U.S. Central Command responded.) Sources tell me that they are authentic.
    Israeli army is losing moral and soldiers are in rebellion - Israeli Hamakom
    The Israeli media quoted several Israeli soldiers who explained why they refused to continue fighting 👇🏻
    'We're sitting ducks on a shooting range. We don't understand what we're doing here'
    'The hostages don't come back and it feels like the soldiers keep getting injured and dying along the way. It all seems pointless'
    'I don't know what army they're thinking of going into Lebanon with, because there is no army. I'm not going back to the battalion'
    In northern Gaza, invading Israeli forces besiege, abduct, and torture Palestinians after storming schools housing the displaced.
    Soldiers dug a pit and placed men of military-age inside it after blindfolding them and tying their hands, reportedly near the Indonesian Hospital.
    Euro-Med Monitor relayed reports of field executions outside the Indonesian Hospital. This is also happening in Jabalia, which has entered its 15th day under siege.
    The only two functional hospitals in the north, Al-Awda and Indonesian Hospital, are besieged and under attack.
    Women and children were separated and told to flee south, but instead are leaving to other areas in the north.
    Al Jazeera reports that Israeli forces are kicking people out of their homes and forcing them to evacuate.
    Meanwhile, the Israeli army's Arabic spokesman claims people are fleeing because Yahya Sinwar is no longer alive.
